When I 1st got in the game. I worked with a company doing drop and hooks. That money ain't worth the time. Get ya own trailer and work the load board and get a warranty on your truck. I'm making between $15,000 to $20,000 a month profit off each truck and I book my own loads. 3 trucks I been in the game 10 months with my own authority. True story

if you're making 4k a month as an owner operator even leased on, there's a big problem and you're clearly not doing something right. If youre company is taking care of you, you should be making ab 8-10k a month after all expenses
I think he is talking in fleet owner language not owner operator and referring to net pay. So after paying his driver and all expenses for the month associated with the truck, net pay is 4k.

Just starting out especially if you have your own CDL and plan on driving your own truck I highly suggest leasing on to a company first until you truly understand the entire business.

Im not yet a trucker. Would love Love LOVE to be my own boss (not just for the money but also cuz i hate being a company-stooge). But one thing is for sure; In my studying the industry thus far, im planning on being a company driver for the first 1.5-2 years for a couple reasons. 1) To save up a good chunk of 💰 (to use on a bigger down-payment and also having some cash in the coffers for repairs & fees), 2) Learn the industry, 3) Make plenty of business relationships between shippers&receivers, & 4) To get lower insurance-prices (i heard O/Os who've had their CDL for under a year get royally-reamed on insurance-premiums, but those premiums drop 12-24months in)

It helps if I re-watched it so the mega carrier was charging you 30% for dispatching anyway in a hidden fee so you just hired your own dispatchers what would you say percentage-wise it cost you about 30% of the load or probably not
What time is freed up? It takes ten minutes to book a load so what are you freeing up? What’s your mc number? I know lease drivers making more then own authority I have my own authority so some things u saying is misleading

First off a thousand dollars a week leased on to a carrier is wrong I've did waaaay more then that in a day I've made more than that as a company driver so if you're going to put information out please don't lie just to make your way sound better

I don't know what lease carrier company you are talking about. I just drive someone else's truck who is leased onto a carrier and I make $1300 a week without having to pay for any truck expenses. I just drive. I'm doing so good that right now I'm looking at buying my own truck so I can lease onto the same carrier that the owner of the truck I am driving is leased onto.

I know a guy who's leased onto a carrier that nets about 10k/wk after expenses taken out so it's definitely more ways than one to skin a cat but I see his point here definitely.

If I get a truck and lease it, and have my own authority, how can I find a dispatcher, and will I get work, and will I need experience?
Independent dispatchers are out there. Normally they advertise on social media and/or FB groups. It is hard to get jobs starting out with a new authority, but possible. Make sure you vet the dispatcher first. They need to be familiar with your equipment type. A new dispatcher should charge you between 5 - 7% of gross on the load. Experienced dispatchers around 8 - 10% of gross. I am a independent dispatcher in the southeast on the 95 & 85 corridor. I am currently not taking any more trucks but have a network that can help should you need any. A dispatcher works for you! Their whole mission should be for you, the owner/operator, to dedicate as much of your time to driving as you can. They should help you grow so that you can become a more profitable company by maximizing efficiency, securing good rates, and helping not stress your equipment [ i.e. liquid loads thru the mountains is a no-no]. By doing those things and more the dispatcher should be able to help you increase your bottom line even in tough times like today. Me personally, I only charge my percentage. Any extra money ALWAYS goes to the trucker. I will have room at the start of December. Either way help is available should you desire any. Remember with dispatchers & owner/operators WE'RE BETTER TOGETHER!

That’s false I was leased on to a company with two trucks doing local work and made 10k weekly off both trucks. Now take out the 4K a month for truck payments 4 on fuel and 3 k on insurance. So that’s 11 from 40 that’s 29k profit. Now I drive one of my trucks and this guy doesn’t have a CDL.

@@carlosaguirre1313 bruh take 10 k away from that 29k that leaves me with 19k and I’m just being modest on that. My driver does two loads a day no more than an hour and a half drive for 1,500 a week and I sit aside 4 a month for the maintenance. Which Is still savings because I still have cover to cover protection 2000 after market warranty. Let’s just say it’s 15k profit. Take uncle Sam’s 25% away also still that’s more than the 2,000 he was talking about. Yet this was me with two trucks leased on. I’m up to 4 doing it all myself. My numbers are still way better

Full of a whole lot of shit, where you getting these numbers from? I just got paid yesterday $2322 as a company driver on 27% of a legit rate con for each load ($8700 gross for a week and anybody in trucking know that’s just an average week so imagine a good week 10k gross) I also did a walk away lease before and made anywhere from $2500-$5000 after all expenses with a WEEKLY truck payment. So imagine being a lease operator with your own equipment whether 100% owned by you or financed with MONTHY (not weekly how I was) payments that’s easily an extra $4k a month. So there is no need to even talk about having own authority of course it’s more money just more responsibility that’s the bottom line, but it’s doable. Bro I don’t know if you started trucking in the 1800s or you’re just trying to sell products but as of 2024 (which is not the best time with average fuel costs, rates etc) the numbers you gave are OUTRAGEOUSLY off. Man said 4K a month is good money, someone come and pat my back and burp me, cause homie think I was born yesterday.

I know everyone situation different and too some that’s more than what they need to survive off of but majority of people that’s not going to cut it, especially with people who leading families. I stay in Florida, rent takes over half of that of the dribble. As we speak I’m in route to pickup a load in MO to PA for 2800, 2.71 a mile before fuel. 2 day duration. Still 5 days to go bro…
