Context for people who did not watch this video the day it came out: The original title was "Playing Halo: Consolation Prize" and the thumbnail, description, and names of the video chapters all indicated it was a video about Halo: Combat Evolved. Also, I hope the future is treating you well, because I'm in the present and it sucks!

2:27 Bit of a Latin lesson here:
The proper way to say “Load game” as a command to the game would be _Onerā Ludum._
_Onus_ is a noun, in the nominative, meaning burden or load.
The way to say load as in the verb in its conjugation as a present command to something, which would be in the second person present imperative, is _onerā._
_Ludum_ is still correct, though. It is the accusative case of _ludus_ meaning “game” and the accusative case refers to the object, something an action is done to.

Really appreciate the extra effort to make the fake thumbnail. I saw it with the notification on my phone but was busy studying so I couldn’t watch it. I then got very confused when I went to look for it only to find a seemingly different review in its place. Thought I was experiencing some Mandela for a sec.
It’s such a clever joke too. It’d be very funny if you just left it that way and confused everyone. Though I imagine the RUclips algorithm would hate that.

    Fantastic video
I love it when you show us funky ps2 era brawlers that I've never heard of, there's something charming about that era of games that I cant get enough of

  •  Месяц назад +4

Can't believe you pulled a Raiden on us! (also jesus those timestamps are evil lmao)
But yeah, there's a strange but charming vibe from that experimental era, especially since a lot came from the east and had companies with very traditional hierarchies working on them, while the majority of big name experimental indies that you hear about today are (mostly) from the west, and more often than not aren't made by a typical corporate structure like before (some are solo devs, some are remote only, etc).
I think one reason it kinda flew under the radar was the very generic sounding "shovelware" title/box, an easy turn-off when retail stores were still the dominant way to buy games. It needed to establish a bit more personality on store shelf imo, but the past is the past.

I already enjoyed your content but your closing thoughts in this video gave me a new appreciation for your videos. Your point about the reception of a game and how it's judged within it's genre is a lot more insightful than a lot of the more recent long form video game analyses in their entirety.

i was actually planning on skipping the halo video because ive been playing it so long and theres so much already out there. then i come back a week later and find a video about a game ive never heard of with a strange thumbnail and intriguing title sitting in my watch later playlist, that was the fastest ive clicked on a video in a while

I was legitimately thinking of playing Halo CE for the first time and trying to get into the fps genre again. It was such a coincidence you decided to cover the game. Don't think I'll be giving the genre a shot today.

I never saw the halo thumbnail and title like many others in the comments, but I was really glued in this video by this weird strange game. I find it intriguing that the best part of the story is told through gameplay itself. Many games often don't show compelling stories through combat mechanics and such. I just find it funny and a bit interesting that there's little to no tutorials in Colosseum. All in all, it makes me want to pick this game up and try playing for myself.

Oh yea also, if you defeat Commodus and he calls the guard you can get a special ending if you kill something like 100 guards. You get an animation of you jumping over a fence and then you dip.

The end portion with how you talk about those type of "weird" and "obscure" games that either end up glowing up or fading into obscurity really hit with me. I'm not sure if you've been suggested it before but: Darkest Dungeon truly feels like one of those type of games that easily could of faded from history given how so unorthodox it is in terms of design, even to the point that it can easily alienate or captivate people. (Source one of my friend's absolutely despises the gameplay while I super enjoy it) but we both can tell a lot of care and effort went into it even if it wouldn't of been successful. I'd personally recommend Darkest Dungeon for the channel as it truly scratches that itch for some being the closest experience to a dnd session that's just gone off the rails (in a good and bad way).

It's been about 20 years since I played but I'm pretty sure there is a button combination to send items straight to storage from the arena instead of picking them up. I wanna say it was holding a shoulder button and then trying to pick something up. It might only work after a match ends. That would allow you to get your armor back. As long as the cleaner doesn't pick it up.
