I decided to take 1 day away from the mat yesterday and I regret it deeply. 😅 I was depressed and anxious all day yesterday and today, I felt so stiff doing this practice. But after i finished, I feel immediately so much better. Adriene has made my body addicted to yoga! I'm never skipping a day on the mat again. Even if I feel not up to whatever the day's practice is, I'll substitute with an easier practice or a foundations video.

Can I just mention how much I love that you practice/teach yoga in normal tanks and bottoms instead of flashy, expensive, skimpy workout clothes? No hate to those who prefer that (different strokes!), but it's nice to see a yoga teacher/personality who has a different, more low-key style. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!

She has videos wearing more flashy revealing outfits. It just depends on her mood! It shouldn't matter what the person is wearing. What matters is if they're a good teacher or not. 👍

@@crystalgarza1675 You make a good point, but I think the comment was pointing to something we all love about Adriene-her accessibility. Part of the reason we love her videos is that she's all of us. And sometimes we like to be flashy, too, but I'm glad to see shirts or pants that look like those I wear as a newbie at home. She's at home, too. It would be odd if she dressed up in a flashy style for that comfy, warming space. It would subconsciously give us a feeling of less authenticity. Authenticity is her magic.

As a fellow youtubers I understand that you may not even see this but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm only on day 19 and for the first time in 6 years my back is pain free and I'm able to move like a 16 year old again. 6 years ago I injured my back lifting weights and have been living a very pore life. I was at rock bottom with how my body felt when I found your channel and because of you I am happy and feel really great. Thank you so much. I will sub you until the end of time. :)

    • @Metallifux1888
      @Metallifux1888 8 лет назад +16

+grierwolfe Similar story here. Hurty my back playing football (soccer). The problem wasn't so much the injury itself just that I never fixed it. That was 15 years ago,
I was always looking for a quick fix off the physio, bowen therapist, osteopath etc. Needless to say they never worked, Any effects they had wore off quickly. Had to quit football 5 years ago (29 years old).
It was getting really bad as I am creeping towards middle age :) and it was starting to affect my work. I've always been a labourer of some sort. Started getting hip problems, which caused balance problems which caused ankle problems. I had the body of a 70 year old man. I thought I was going to have to give up my work. Which would have been a disaster as I don't have much of a brain. Not enough to make the kind of money I do just now :D
I hurt myself at work 2 months ago so took a few days off. It never lasts too long. My mate put me onto these videos with Adriene. I kid you not. After Day 1 I felt 100 times better,
I have more energy, I'm more agile. I do still hurt at times but the pain has gone from a few days to a few hours or even less.
All the new practices failed me. And the ancient art of Yoga saved my life.

I'm like the last person to even think about doing Yoga, but after months of University work at my desk being hunched over, mixed with quarantine rendering me stiff and inactive, I thought I should treat my body with this. Hopefully throughout this journey some passersby will come across this comment as I intend to edit this comment daily for the 30 days to share my journey! Full journey comment thread is on the Day 1 video:) [Day 18/30]
    -
Day 18 - This felt reaaally good for my hip flexors, which have been the common theme of my daily Yoga updates doing this challenge. I also surprised myself that I actually managed to keep my balance AND bend over in that single-legged forward fold! The stretch that I felt was amazing and literally 2 minutes after it, my hips flexors had never felt so loose! Amazing session today.

Day 18: I can balance on my injured knee! Yay! Mobility!! I started this practice noticing all the things I could NOT do. I ended the practice by focusing on all the things I COULD DO! What a mind shift....i just DID yoga for my brain and on my body! What what! (This practice was terribly hard! I re-started it twice, to release my back it was so tight it was messing up with my lunges.) Thank you for guiding me on this journey, I CAN and I AM! Thank you Adriene! Namaste!

I’m in hospital and also on my ‘yoga journey’ and unfortunately I have to be away from my mum. Because of this I decided to record myself doing the pose where you bring your folded leg up and balance, and somehow I can also bend forward without blocks to touch the mat with my fingertips! Anyway so I watched my video before I sent it to my mum and I had no idea it looked so beautiful and effortless? It felt effortless!!!! I’ve been known as ‘clumsy’ my entire life but finally I believed in myself. I’m just these 18 days I’ve progressed dramatically 😊

I do this practice with a heavy heart, I have been so hard on myself recently and it is really showing through an anxious mind and body. I do this practice with a loving heart to help with this anxiety. I have been doing yoga everyday since February and I think I am seeing how there are dips and valleys when practicing this way. I am definitely going to stick it out and keep going even though I am not really feeling myself or yoga 100% for that matter. It took me to getting on the mat to actually stop and tell myself that I love myself and to release my past self-sabatoge if you will. It's already working!
Thank you Adriene, I am so grateful for this practice as usual.

My kung fu teacher taught me a great trick for balancing: never, ever, think about your feet. Your body knows what it is doing, the second you put your head into it you're going to overthink it and loose balance. Just mindfully consider your breath instead!

One of my knees is a lot more fragile after being partially dislocation several times, so I was able to go all the way down to squatting on the right side with my knee bent and had to stay standing and holding my ankle on the left side. It can be frustrating that one side is capable of so much more, something I’ve noticed almost every practice so far, but I love that Adriene always emphasizes that there is nothing wrong with being at different levels, and 18 days later, even my left side is feeling stronger, and I’ve noticed my balance has improved on both sides SO much! Gotta look at all the positives and not dwell on where you struggle!
