  • When faced with the challenge of finding new sounds, use the internet to sew a seed of creativity. After an initial fear of all things Auduino, we delve into a brave new world, making friends with the Mozzi library and developing a new sound generator that encompasses drones, modulation and pitch, together with finding that sweet spot between ambient and noise. Lots of talking about the process, advice for potential builders and testing - both dry and through the Koma Field Kit FX.

Thanks for this, just breadboarded it and the range of sounds is massive. The tone of it reminds me of the Bastl Kastle quite a bit and that will set you back £100 so this is brilliant for such a low budget project.

Your cat appears to be eating it’s paws behind you :-) ... I’m having a tinker with mozzi and an arduino... struggling a little... but I’ll get there... nice informative video... good effort! Hard work isn’t it!

Ah lovely! Glad someone else is getting stuck into mozzi. It's really not an easy ride, but satisfying when it works away from the computer. Thanks for the kind words.

Looked up Mozzi since I found it on GitHub earlier, and I wanted to hear how it could sound. Definitely want to make a eurorack module with this! Were you running this at 8 bit or 14 bit?

Thanks fella, this was an 8-bit effort I think (from memory) that way it would store and work on a nano. I've used it so much that I need repairs now, the power connection has come loose and it's not operating as usual. I would love to attempt a eurorack module lots have them already like the Music Thing Modular Radio Music. I look forward to seeing what you come up with

I built an auduino last year but it doesn't sound this good!
Is your code available to download online? Thanks!

I don't seem to be able to get my hands on the code I used, but this seems to be very similar, or at least a gtood place to start. Mozzi library ftw. www.instructables.com/Using-Mozzi-Library-with-5-potentiometers/

Nice video. I made one using cheap CH Nano mounted on breadboard inside a pedal enclosure like you and its great fun. Well worth building.
I had no issues with USB cables and installing the CH340 drivers fixed the uploading issues. Using the older Arduino IDE (Arduino 1.0.5) recommended for Mozzi fixed the audio problems I was having with some of the Mozzi example sketches. So it is worth persisting if you don't get instant results.
Like your example, I find this synth sounds best through some fx as it's rather unpredictable - but is capable of generating an amazing variety of tones 😁
There is an old "Notes and Volts" RUclips clip you can look up where the fellow adds midi control - I'm going to try that next. Oh yeah, and replacing 4 of the pots with a pair of Arduino joysticks with the springs removed: ruclips.net/video/Voyx9cwxy2s/видео.html
