Remember back on those days the producers went the extra mile. The Frank Spencer stuff was all real stunts too as well as shows like Sorry!
Weirdly watching that clip reminds me of when I was having driving lessons in 1990. I'd finished mine and the driving instructor got me to take a seat in the back of the car while he went to pick up a new pupil on the drive home. She said she had driving lessons before somewhere else but after a couple of minutes he realised she was awful and downright dangerous, ignoring everything he told her. I remember him really having a go at her for having absolutely no road sense at all. I think he later told me he had dropped her because she was oblivious to any kind of danger and a danger to the public.

I came across Peter Blake one day at my school back in the mid 1980s. I was late for my next class. As i made my way down the corridor i took a short cut through a open area that was used as a cloak room.
Peter was there chatting and smiling with the headmaster and another teacher. I instantly recognised him as being Kirk from Dear John.
My wow moment however, was cut short by the headmaster turning his head to look at me. I turned around and fled lol

I remember Kirk St Moritz featuring as a Travolta type character in a TV ad for Pepsi. " Hey Eddie, how come you're such a big hit wi' da goils?" Dear John was a bittersweet comedy and Ralph Bates who died far too young was excellent. A couple of other forgotten comedies to mention: 'Comrade Dad' starring George Cole. Set in the background of a bloodless Soviet invasion of Britain, Cole plays a character who is initially enthusiastic about living under Soviet communist state control. Another is the 'Kit Curran Radio Show' shortened to just 'Kit Curran' in the second series of two. It starred Denis Lawson who is far more famous from his Star Wars role as X-Wing pilot Wedge Antilles. Curran is a devious Radio DJ in the first series and plans to set up a pirate station in the second series.

Don't remember L for Lester and Wyatt's Watchdogs at all, or Hardwicke House, which sounds intriguing. I vaguely remember one with William Gaunt and Martin Clunes, think it was called "No Place Like Home" about a family where the kids had left home but kept coming back.

I thought "Fairly Secret Army" was great! I watched again during lockdown and enjoyed it just as much as when I first saw it in the 80s. Loved the bonkers end credits theme tune (by Michael Nyman) as well.
I'd never heard of "L for Lester" but thought it looked interesting - might look that up!
One you didn't mention (not here anyway) that no one seems to remember (but I enjoyed) was C4's "Chance in a Million", with Simon Callow and Brenda Blethyn.

I've mentioned this before on a video featuring a US remake of the excellent 'Dear John.' In the US remake they renamed the 1-2-1 club as 'One To One' And I could never help wondering if the makers of the US show really did think that their audience were so dim, that they wouldn't register the 1-2-1 as intended?
"Hey honey! What's this one hundred and twenty one all about?"

However, I watched the US version of Dear John (I'm a fan of Judd Hirsch), not knowing it was based on a UK show.

There is a sitcom that I remember and liked. It was called: you must be the husband. It was about a married couple. The wife had written a romantic novel that her husband knew nothing about, and it was a very big success. So he constantly heard the line: you must be the husband which made him all of a sudden feel irrelevant and unimportant. I thought it was very funny.

I think Dear John is probably still remembered, but it's not as well known as other sitcoms from John Sullivan - mainly because to my knowledge, it hasn't been repeated since the 1980s. There was also the terrible US version of it, which occasionally got shown on very late night BBC 1 during the 1990s. It was a great series though, the characters in it : John, Kate, Kirk, etc.
I do remember Colin's Sandwich quite well. Mel Smith having a starring role at the time made it unique. That did get repeated a bit on BBC 2 and on UK Gold - but again, it's a bit niche.

Colin's Sandwich is a masterpiece! I didn't see it in the 80's, but stumbled on it about a decade ago. It's Mel Smith at his best if you ask me!
One sitcom that's always overlooked is I, Lovett staring Norman Lovett in-between stints as Holly in series 1 and 2 of Red Dwarf. It's pretty surreal, but not as much as The Mighty Boosh. Only ran for one series, tragically, as it was really good. I believe it was on C4 originally, Definitely worth a watch!
I'd also add Shelley, although that started in 1979, but ran for ten years, so I'd be inclined to add it to an 80's list just because it aired through the whole decade. I'd spend ages trying to copy the signature from the opening as it's my actual name! I got very good at it too! 🤣
I remember those Campari ads more than the shows listed tbh! Maybe you could do a forgotten ads thing one day? Could be good for a laugh!
