Great stuff on your RUclips channel. In the 1970's into the early 1980's here in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada there were many UK sitcoms shown on the CBC & KVOS Bellingham. Yes, the American TV station in Bellingham, Washington showed TV comedies from Ol' Blighty. KVOS had more viewers in Canada than the U.S.. Anyway, I found it interesting to find out about UK TV series you've shown, that were never broadcast here. I do remember seeing an episode of " Welcome Back Mrs. Noah " when I visited England. I was staying in Battersea, London, when I saw an episode of Molly Sudgen in space. We were howling with laughter at how goofy the show was.
Even though the clip from ‘my wife next door’ was very brief, it made me laugh, and made me want to find a way of watching it, even if it was only clips here on RUclips.

Hello Stu🙋♀️ Thanks for another entertaining video📹 There were many I had not heard of...I don’t remember “The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs,” but I do remember another David Jason Situation Comedy 🎭 of that era: “A Sharp Intake of Breath.” I used to enjoy watching “Get Some In,” “Your Only Young Twice,” “Room Service,” and Maggie and Her.” As promised... I have made another list of other forgotten Situation Comedies 🎭 “The Many Wives of Patrick” starring Patrick Cargill, who also starred in “Father Dear Father,” “My Good Woman” starring Leslie Crowther, and “Rings on their Fingers” starring Martin Jarvis. If my memory serves me correctly, I am sure there was also a Comedy called “Life Begins at Forty...(?!)
Hi Alison. Some interesting sitcoms you've mentioned there. I remember watching Rings on their Fingers. Used to quite enjoy that. I don't really remember that much about Life Begins at Forty but I know it starred Derek Nimmo and Rosemary Leach.
I thought you were gonna get me there. I didn't recognise a single one until Get Some In. I used to watch that all the time. Both my older brothers were in the army at the time and I thought that's what it was like. I did recognise the unrecognisable David Jason before you said it though. Kids these days! Nice video old chap.
One classic of sitcom Sir David Jason starred in was Lucky Fella where Sir David Jason drove a bubble car I vaguely remember it I think it was around 1975? 76😊
I very much do remember You Only Live Twice, I was a kid but I loved that. Romany Jones I certainly don't remember but it does look quite funny, might have to look at that one of these days.
I remember watching You Only Live Twice, Grandad, and n particular Get Some In, as when I was a child, Tony Selby was staying with his aunt in the next street, and I said hello to him and he was very friendly - obviously nothing like his character in the programme.
My Late father Loved watching "get some in" as he said it was very accurate of National service that he expierenced in the RAF being born in 1939 he was one of the last to do national service at RAF Watton in Norfolk. Thank you for posting the video i always look forward to a STuview video on youtube!
Peggy Mount and Pat Coombs were also in the, now mostly wiped, series 'Lollipop Loves Mr Mole' written by Jimmy Perry. I also remember Peggy Mount's cameo as a very bossy Mother Superior in Inspector Morse, whom she indignantly tells 'I answer to a much higher authority than the Thames Valley Police!'
Too un-PC apparently. Michael Bates was born in India, spoke Urdu fluently, was a captain in the Gurkhas and was accused of wearing a brown face to play Ranji Ram...
You weren't joking when you called these 'forgotten'. The only one I have heard of was Get Some In. It was shown at 9pm on ITV as I remember because some of the language was a bit naughty. I think it might have been preceded by The New Avengers which I believe showed from 8-9pm so I was allowed to stay up to watch that but had to be in bed by 9.
You may be interested in this bit of trivia if you don't already know it, relating to Get Some In. Robert Lindsay and Karl Howman, who both played Jakey Smith, share the same birthday, 1949 and 1952 respectively. I happened on this fact when I realised that it was the same date as my grandma.
Some others I remember: Potter, In loving memory, I didn’t know you cared, Oh no it’s Selwyn Frogitt, The upchat line and Two up two down featuring Paul Nicholas who also sang the theme tune
Come back Mrs Noah is my goto when talking to friends about stuff that not only existed but also never should have seen the light of day in the first place. And the less said about Arthur Button Mushroom Mullard, the better.
I remember most of those series you mentioned, apart from "His Lordship Entertains" and "Room Service", those two passed me by. I remember the Edgar Briggs one but didn't watch it. David Jason was in another early comedy series called "Lucky Feller" about a man who was always having bad luck. His brother was played by Peter Armitage who played Bill Webster in Coronation Street. The ones I enjoyed most were "Get Some in" and "Romany Jones". Thanks for your insights, Stu !! Very entertaining.
I always thought Get Some In deserved more plaudits, although, like a lot of 70s comedy, you’d never get away with showing it now! May well check out the DVD.
We need to collect all these and get them on youtube so they are forever remembered
Get Some In is the best of these sitcoms by miles!!!

Many thanks!
I remember "My Old Man", Clive Dunn, and the song.
One classic of sitcom Sir David Jason starred in was Lucky Fella where Sir David Jason drove a bubble car I vaguely remember it I think it was around 1975? 76😊
He also stared in Sharp Intake of Breath.
@@stephendavis-yl4gc yes I remember that sitcom also 😄
I very much do remember You Only Live Twice, I was a kid but I loved that.
That's fantastic.
My Late father Loved watching "get some in" as he said it was very accurate of National service that he expierenced in the RAF being born in 1939 he was one of the last to do national service at RAF Watton in Norfolk. Thank you for posting the video i always look forward to a STuview video on youtube!
That's great to hear! Many thanks.
@@stuviewtv thank you!
All these shows are better than what's on offer today.
"It Ain't Half Hot Mum" - that was a good show. I wonder why we never see it these days?
Too un-PC apparently. Michael Bates was born in India, spoke Urdu fluently, was a captain in the Gurkhas and was accused of wearing a brown face to play Ranji Ram...
Great video and some great stars ( RIP).
I can only remember Get Some In.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks!
In Get Some In the Private Leckie is played by Brian Pettifer. He played Andra in The Rab C Nesbitt Show.
And is in some way related to Keira Knightley
@angusdunn474 Yeah you can see the likeness. 😂😂😂
Brian was also in - one of the best episodes of Still Game as well..
Didn't know I needed this. Your reviews are better than modern America TV. New sub
Many thanks!
I've just finished watching
every episode of get some in on RUclips.
A very underrated sitcom.
A few I don’t remember.
Loved your only young twice 💙
You may be interested in this bit of trivia if you don't already know it, relating to Get Some In. Robert Lindsay and Karl Howman, who both played Jakey Smith, share the same birthday, 1949 and 1952 respectively. I happened on this fact when I realised that it was the same date as my grandma.
I love "Come Back Mrs. Noah!" beacause Molly Sugden was its star!😊
I remember a sitcom starring the great Brian Glover. It was called 'South of the Border' didn't last long, loved it. Can't find clips anywhere.
Hannah Gordon was absolutely beautiful ❤
Great listing 👏 thank you
Some others I remember: Potter, In loving memory, I didn’t know you cared, Oh no it’s Selwyn Frogitt, The upchat line and Two up two down featuring Paul Nicholas who also sang the theme tune
Come back Mrs Noah is my goto when talking to friends about stuff that not only existed but also never should have seen the light of day in the first place.
And the less said about Arthur Button Mushroom Mullard, the better.
I watched Get Some In on UK Gold in the 90's.
I was only young in the seventies but I remember a couple of these.
Many thanks Carole!
I loved The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs 🙂
I always thought Get Some In deserved more plaudits, although, like a lot of 70s comedy, you’d never get away with showing it now! May well check out the DVD.
I only remember 'Get Some In'.
Here's two non sitcoms I don't think you've covered: 'Lizzy Dripping', 'Robert's Robots'.
Ahh... I loved Lizzy Dripping as a Child...
