You are a great tf2 youtuber, one of the best I can find. You are great at the game and you deserve so many more subscribers, I hope you hit one million. Thanks for reading. Keep making great vids!!
What's special about this is how simple it is to control, yet how versatile it is. Other games would just give you multiple abilities, with one for each intended purpose. In TF2, you can take a simple, two-button controlled weapon and use it for a dozen things!
@@ED-gw9rg that’s what makes me love using the stickybomb launcher, i don’t think there’s a more versatile weapon in the entire game, especially with how quickly you can go from sticky trapping to sticky spamming when the situation calls for it
When people complain about demo for being an easy class because of traps I start spamming "couldn't you see the bloody bomb?" I even made a bind for it.
dru holy shit if you have been using this bind for a year a while ago on a two fort server there was a demo who just camped a door and if you ever died he would say, couldn't you see the bloody bombs
Something I really appreciate in your videos is mentioning the names of the maps. Coming back to TF2 after almost 10 years, there are maps I remember playing but can't recall their names. Appreciate the effort you put into the editing and details in your videos dude..!
9:15 i really like this example cause its the perfect fusion between using stickies offensively, which i dont like much, and defensively, one of the best ways to use it
Naganata if you've ever tried this strategy where you just hold down is incredibly hard to get a kill, it's a lot easier to place traps around them and detonating when they walk over
bruhmoment7 yes, but that’s what their job is. Hitting people with rockets. Meanwhile, someone is spamming a trap weapon to kill someone, instead of their actual weapon made for head-on combat.
@@coocato in a blog post as early as 2009 robin walker himself intended the sticky bomb launcher to be a dual purpose weapon, which means they can be used offensively and defensively at the same time don't let class selection lables fool you
I cant stress how important it is for new demomen to use precaution traps. They’re honestly THE MOST important trap you’ll need. The precaution trap is what gives demoman his survivability, be it while resupplying, retreating, or during downtime where you reload
I'm pretty sure I'm on a one-way plane to hell for this, but I sticky trap health packs. Also, the light bulbs in the lower floor of the 2forts work very well. Enemies coming around the corner may see stickies on the wall, but it's a proven fact that nobody looks up in tf2. They won't pay any attention to the deadly light bulbs on the ceiling.
I nailed an aggressive version of “The Deterrent”. Approached an enemy, lobbing down some stickies slightly to the right of them. Naturally they headed left, probably expecting sticky spam, but I whipped out my primary and leading my shot was easy with them heading in a predictable direction.
Fairly useful, I find myself going demo every other game, my fav class with Soldier and Sniper, but I mostly sticky spam, but the Demolition Man's Sticky Launcher is of course made for trapping. Very cool, because this video shows that TF2 is a really strategic video game, as opposed to the pure spam on some maps. Thanks for the video!
11:37 that tip pairs with the scottish resistance pretty well, due to all the stickies lighting up for you. you will know where they are and can decide whether they can be used or not.
The best example of blind detonating that I’ve seen was when a Demo got to the center point on King of the Hill before anyone else, trapped the center, and then walked half way across the map so that the first enemy to step on the CP would get blown up. I had this happen then was a bit confused where they were, then found them just hanging out hiding in a nearby building, nowhere near any windows so that nobody could see them.
These are some great guides, and even though I already knew some of this stuff, it's all about being able to put all of it together, and see it as a toolkit of skills, and that's what these guides help do.
My favourite type of trap is the minefield trap. Basically you lay out 8 stickies I n a wide area, 2 or 3 people walk there and then a quarter of the map explodes. You should try it sometime.
What about Stickymines? Setting up like 5 bombs in the same hitbox, meaning when you det it it's guaranteed to take them out, no matter what short of a Stock Uber.
Also about precausanory traps. If you want to spread stickies and be really multitask demo, you can use the scottish resistance. Because TSR detonates only stickybombs that you are directly looking at. Even if theyre really close
As a Scout main, I've learnt that if you're versing a demo, always, always run back as you enter a corridor. Otherwise, those stickies can be devastating.
Fun fact: the vents on the hallways leading to the intel in 2fort are hollow on the inside, and can perfectly hid stickies (this requires precision). If a scout rushes intel, you can kill them from across the map, consistently.
I personally love multiple-detonation Scottish resistance traps. I set up a small cluster, another one further along the choke, detonate the first to make the enemy think I jumped the gun, then catch them with the second.
Great video but you forgot to mention Aerial traps where you throw multiple stickies into the air to create a trap on someone as they land. Great for demolishing engies and making pyros who can reflect have a very hard time. Also Scottish is more for total area denial over camping traps. Otherwise great vid!
You can also check if let's say an enemy scout is abt to respawn and then place some stickies in a realistic place that a scout would go to and just simply detonate them blindally to see if your got the scout
i sometimes use an escape trap in sticky(pun intended) situations. like i make a little trap for the enemy to walk into and i put one sticky under myself, so that i can detonate, kill them or antleast deal damage and get away.:D
Thanks dude. I' wouldn't mind a more advanced video for comp level demos. More on the mindset of their strategies. I watch a fair amount of comp level play, but I'm often confused why they picked a location, number of stickers, sticky density.
I think the sticky launchers(that do damage) are specifically designed for the three main different playstyles with the stickybombs. Scottish Resistance: A defensive playstyle is encouraged with this launcher's stats. And you can set up multiple traps to detonate at different times. With the slower arm time, good luck spamming this thing. Quickiebomb launcher: A more agressive playstyle. Less damage but more oppertunity (i dunno how to spell that word) to spam stickies and get more damage out (even though its less). Also, with the less damage there is no point putting traps down. Stickybomb launcher(stock): An all around playstyle and the most flexible one of the three. You can either spam out damage or play a little more defensively.
The qickie and scottish resistance are (if used correctly) are direct uprades from stock, and detonating as soon as the gates open has a 75% chance of wasting a trap, especially with stock
Scottish resistance tip, People propably won't inspect your stickies, "miss detonate" one small cluster to make them think you hair triggered, then destroy their dreams by tugging them through several more carpets of stickies.
prob wont see this but a little fun thing to do is stick baiting. You put a stick into the center of the room, put sticks on the door ways and when you see you have 7 sticks on your counter set them off. I've gotten some pretty good multi kills with this strat, and doesn't really require being there.
I like it. Couple of questions. When you stack two stickies together will the blast radius be wider or will it just deal more damage to those in range? I'm looking forward to your coverage of the Scottish Resistance. Hope you do the Quickiebomb Launcher too.
Remember that blu pyros can destroy your stickies with the scorch shot through the gate so don't put krit stickies right at the gate before the round starts
one of the most important use of sticky, "trap" isnt mention. area denial/mobility restriction in order to hit pipes. batinng trap should be explain with the use of teammates (poking, protecting med, sniper). The placement depends on what you want to achieve. Slowing/Blocking a push at choke vs getting a pick when the ennemy pushes the choke vs getting the med while they push.
Hey toofty I've noticed that you occasionally mention comp 6s in your videos but you mentioned that you don't really like playing comp and prefer casual. If you ever need some footage or questions answered about it I'd be more than willing to help out.
After 200 hr of traping enemy in every corner of teufort, dustbowl, and upward i can confirm that nobody will look up the celling of any and i mean any building

Loving your work, keep it up I guess :) Also I would love to see a Scottish Resistance video as I love the concept of the weapon but don't know how to use it without sacrificing the versatility of the stock
Jake Hatton if you throw them up higher than you would with stock generally they're ready to det as they hit the ground and since it has a faster fire rate it's great for denying an area that someone is showing incentive to push :) I'm sure he'll cover this but I felt I'd drop that tip before he does so you have something to try while you wait!
Thanks for the reply, I reckon that would be pretty hard to do, either because I'm not used to it or because I feel like I'd be looking too far upwards to be aware of what's going on :/ Thanks again, will try this later :)
