Should probably write some key words in here or something. Like Demoman. Erm... Demoknight. Oh yeah Scotsman's Skullcutter.
Pog maybe? Bots, cringe, toxic, Eillie Eilish, The Olympics. I think that's how it work.

This weapon alone makes medieval mode almost unplayable, as every Demo and their mother uses this and proceeds to destroy everyone because of the random crits it for some reason has.
The chance for crit on this weapon is increased to 60% if you dealt 600 dmg in past 10 or 15 seconds, which is really easy with this weapon, im not sure about the damage amount tho
I always found the disciplinary action to be the absolute meta for that, its so unfun
All you have to do to win defending on medieval mode is not even bother defending A and B but instead stay inside the gates and have a scout do nothing but run back and forth to the supply cabinet throwing mad milk on absolutely every enemy who comes in. Have a bunch of skullcutters or whatever waiting and Blue has very little chance of winning.
@@pandero153 800 damage in last 20 seconds boosts crit rate to 60% max

@@Moss_Dude Ah, that thing. That nobody uses anyway.
The actual way to get change out of this weapon is to use it on De Groot. That's the context in which it will make you wonder how the hell Valve decided it was a good idea to let it have random crits.

I've found that after getting used to the switch speed the Skullcutter works quite well for me on stock demo. You have to get used to switching to it much earlier than you would with the bottle, and the range helps offset the loss of movement speed in close range fights. With that said, I still use the bottle more, but it's definitely workable.
As someone that gets their skull cut a lot, I can vouch that the extra range stat is what makes the weapon. You could be standing on the dark side of the moon and get hit by that thing from Earth's surface.
This is how I use it. No shield, no charges, just a bottle replacement with some timing adjustment for when I’m rushed by a scout or something (best thing for those if you see it coming and then crit em)
I find this weapon is good at being a "nobody expects it" weapon. The enemy will rush you down and back you into a corner, then suddenly you pull out a huge motherf axe and they are greeted with a 234 damage melee attack.
Cannon jumping instead of sticky jumping can free up your secondary slot for a shield which can be really fun too.
Charge cuz of blast resis from cannon jumping and crit in the air when times correctly

As a demo knight main, the skullcutter’s ability to random crit disgusts me

As a Skullcutter Demoknight, its ability to deal crits is amazing.

At full hp a skullcutter crit wont kill a max stack demo knight. You live with 1hp.
So you’re telling me that Demo had his own market gardener this whole time… dear god
Always has had.
You know what? That makes sense. The Skullcutter is a big ass axe and it's heavier than the other swords. If you see a drunken scotsman flying into your direction at 200mph with a 10 pound axe, I'm pretty sure you're now 2 person.
Demotroll
Honestly, the fact that this gets random crits has always made me feel like it's more of a regular Demoman weapon because it's so out of touch with all the swords and their lack of random crits. Maybe it's for that reason that I've never been too attracted to it, the speed and deploy debuffs have never felt worth it compared to stock melee, but for Demoknight, the Eyelander seems like such a no brainer pick. It's kind of in a weird weapon balance puberty state. It's not bad, but I'm not sure if it stands out enough to really have a strong foothold.
That's fair and about my assessment. It's cool and in normal games not utterly game-breaking, but it just doesn't have anything that makes it stand out. I still love the damn thing and had a blast trying to use it in a 10x server. I couldn't charge with it but I did nuke a guy once before immediately getting killed.
Fish when new video
It’s for demo troll to bomb with the sticky jumper
It combos with the Scottish Resistance for MAXIMUM SCOTLAND ENERGY
This weapon goes best with the tide turner. The fact that it crits allows you to really take advantage of the tide turner's mobility, without caring too much about the lack of guaranteed shield crits from the tide turner. Definitely the best way to use it IMO.

No one seems to realise how well this weapon works with the grappling hook
Just grapple onto someone, switch weapons, and your playstyle basically becomes "attack on titan demo"
I've always preferred weapons that are heavy hitting with high damage but slow speed so this is probably my favourite melee weapon other than the eyelander
We both know you just use it for random crits
@@PoshBeard yeah
Objectively best sword for hybrid knight. So fun to use and I’ve gotten a hales own on my strange.
I should clarify that I essentially play demo normally staying away until I whip out the sword and charge someone retreating. I use the charge’n targe for damage resistance to basically become a tanky demo with the ability to close to distance. Keep in mind my favourite sticky launcher the the sticky jumper.

I disagree personally I think the class the best hybrid knight weapon extra charging fir a damage vulnerability when you pull it out but no issues if you play Granada heavy like u do
@@jspark8990 I do like using the claymore a bit but I find getting to keep the damage resistance more helpful to tank more stuff. Also makes it easier to finish off targets I have piped
As a cannonknight the claids extended range is just too good to pass up, but on certain maps where i need to use the turner its very good to make up for the loss of the crit
If you can learn to jump with the Loose Cannon, it can work well with that and a shield.
10:43 might wanna censor that bud
Oh, now I see what that was...

I didn't even notice this when editing!
@@Toofty let’s hope youtube doesn’t see this
Is a trap
Personally, I demofly “hybrid”
I use the iron bomber, sticky launcher, and skullcutter. Typically, I just pull out my axe pretty early into a fight, sometimes before melees are drawn. It’s dangerous but has saved me many times
0:49 is no one talking about how smooth that transition was
I use it when I'm hybrid knight because the speed debuff doesn't bother me alot since I can just trimp
I see the weapon as an anti eyelander weapon, cause haha random crit skullcutter go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
More reasons why to never use Skullcutter with Demoknight:
- the 15% movement speed penalty also applies to charge speed while speed buffs do not
- an Eyelander with 3+ heads crosses the same damage thresholds on top of all the other benefits
- if you really want random crits, the stock bottle is already really good in hybrid knight due to the faster switch speed
reasons why to use Skullcutter with Demoknight:
-Dominates Degroot Keep
-doesn't need to charge up to cross the damage threshold
-charge speed debuff is irrelevant when you trimp off of a ramp
-just pulling it out sooner when someone approaches you makes the slower swap speed irrelevant
I had recently thought of a loadout with the sticky jumper and the eye lander. But the Scotsman is even better. Thanks man
I've found that the Skullcutter is one of the most effective ways to take out an eyelander demoknight. The 234 damage crits put the demoknight at 1 hp (with max heads) making it so the demoknight can die from mere chip damage, and given the skullcutter's crit rate you might not even need a shield. Play with standard pipes and stickybombs, but have the skullcutter ready for when the demoknight comes charging in, and given how in the thick of it a demoknight gets, it's gonna be near impossible for him to make it out alive.
Loose cannon, Scottish resistance and Skullcutter is like purely defensive loadout that is fun
Someone once complained to me in a 2Fort match when I was using my Scotsman Skullcutter that it was a crutch, it's bad, and It demoknight doesn't take skill
From that day forward I've renamed my scotsman skullcutter to the "Crutchman's Skillcutter" as a meme and have racked over 2000 kills with the thing
Great editing as always
Oh hello. Didn't expect a Toofty vid today! 😊
I have always grieved and griped about how all of the melee weapons with increased damage still have random crits.
With the loose cannon, if you can do a clean loose cannon charge jump, you can swap out the sticky jumper for a shield and charge while in the air. Seems to pair nicely with this weapon.
Love the longer video, keep them coming.
I think it’s funny because I never saw a sticky jumper + base jumper skullcutter demo before SoundSmith’s stereotype video on demoman and I still don’t see them but now I know what I’m missing out on whenever I don’t
Damn you really just gonna casually mention that sirky is actually playing again despite what he said! Hype!
I particularly enjoy it in hybrid knight alongside the loose cannon, since you already have a pretty well-defined minimum range forcing you to switch earlier. And if a panicked shot causes you to miss the DD the knock-back is usually enough time and confusion for a weapon-switch + charge finish.
I had some success with hybrid knight, particularly with loose cannon and splendid screen, the knockback from the loose cannon and the brief stun it causes helped me secure those melee kills.
And Demoman bot's meele weapon, yes i saw this night and it was using Iron Bomber too
It's great with the Tide Turner since it doesn't get full crits at the end of a charge, but the Skullcutter gets random crits all the time thanks to its increased damage, and getting back all your charge after every melee kill means the speed reduction doesn't matter nearly as much.
I find in my personal experience that hybrid knight can benefit from this weapon also as you can have a choice of charging at someone and dealing a spicy 300 damage or trimping and getting a spicy market garden with it.
Toofty has literally invented the "Market Cutter" (name needs work)
There was a time on bad water when there was only about 2 people on my team blu and on the other everyone was dancing together on the cart with 1 heavy spawn camping. I took the skull cutter out and baby I crit the heavy out of existence and kill 3 other people with random crits until finale the other team got up from taunting and all targeting me, finally my killing spree was over. I had the boots and tide turner equiped with the skull cutter
Perfect intro music selection.
I use the sticky bomb launcher, loose cannon and, skullcutter all the time in pubs and its really fun
The skullcuter can kill the the full powerd demoknight in one hit
I feel like hybrid knight with the cannon and tide turner helps provide a middleman between demoflight and demoknight. The shield bash and minicrit damage put it into one-shot light classes territory, and even if you miss, a melee kill will give you your charge back most of the time, allowing you to charge out of situations better. Plus, the Loose Cannon also provides extra meme factor.
I must admit, that toofty is absolutely right with flying demoman. Everyone would be scared of black, one eyed man with a big axe that deals heavy damage and can crit at anytime
It's always so hilarious when I watch gameplay videos and see snipers run away as soon as they take any damage.
I used to main sniper and my first reaction whenever I took damage was almost always to look behind me.
I think you've just coined the term demoflight. Awesome video man
It’s good on hybrid for it not having a sort of gimmick like the eyelander, where you will have to use it a lot.
I love chain charging with scotsman skullcutter using tide Turner, due to the fact that i always crit, the crit from other shields is non helpful and tide Turner gives me more mobility
I have found it’s a good swap-to weapon in the Bomber-Knight loadout. Iron Bomber for jumps/dueling, Chargin Targe for long jumps, and either Claidemh-Mor for going for long pick-type hits or Skullcutter for shorter team fight hits.
I recently used it with loch n' load, and the targe, and it worked surprisingly well. the extra range and damage helps out a lot against medics rushing with uber, or spies trying to trick stab since you can smack them around from outside their melee range, and the extra damage means extra knock back, so you can launch them straight into the sky box if they ever make the mistake of jumping which then puts them back into pipe range, so it's a lose lose for them. oh, that and being able to 2 tap meds and battle engies is super nice.
it's the only sword that doesn't have a major drawback on hybrid knight:
zatoichi punishes you for switching weapons if you don't get a kill, persuader deletes all ammo, eyelander takes your health, claymore cuts into your precious shield resistances. only the skull cutter provides the extra melee reach without cutting into your tanky-ness which is the main reason to play hybrid in the first place, so for me at least, it's a pretty good fit.
I hope the Skull cutter gets a turning control increase the current downsides are enough balance like the slower deploy speed and movement speed
Stock demo with skullcutter is really good, that added range and damage makes up for the lower movement.
0:35
I felt that way when Quake turned 25 years old
Oh yes new Toofty video on the best Demo melee let's go
Loose Cannon jumping and then charging as Hybridknight makes you that much more terrifying.
its a very good weapon for a hybrid demo and what i like about it its the fact that you are trading speed for more damage
anyone wanna point out how much better toofty is starting to get at the video thingo
I love how you use skyrims theme song "dowakhin"
It reminds me of good old times
9:27 ahh feels good man, feels good
I'm going to referring to that loadout as Demoflight from now on.
Also you forgot the most important thing about the Skullcutter: it can be used with the Haunted Metal Scrap to create the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker
Demoknight with Scottsmans, tide, and booties is the ultimate rampage killer. Charge in, kill someone, fill meter, charge next person, kill, fill meter, etc. Everyone you can see is a target and you can team wipe without any help whatsoever.
Great to see another vid
Its best upside is actually 50% longer range combined with random crits rather than damage. There is a reason half-zatoichi or whatever it name is was nicknamed critana before random crits was removed from it.
Demoflight is my favorite way to use the skullcutter, I came up with it while on a highertower, or Hightower server, probably a skial server since I never had the legitimate sticky jumper though I may have been using the regular sticky launcher for my jumps instead on any other Hightower only server, maybe I’ll try it on x1000
this weapon is best used in hybrid with the splendid. It allows you to easily pick medics and unattended heavies, often changing the tide of comp games.
My old go-to Demo loadout was Loose Cannon, Chargin' Targe, and Skullcutter. You could cannon jump better with the resistances the Targe gives as opposed to the Splendid Screen, and the Skullcutter was great for soft-countering the Scouts who just run up and bumrush Demoman.
3:58 "there's just so many better options"
*shows the claidheamh mor*
Skullcutter is tons of fun in MvM. Add bonus damage to the bonus damage and then tack on guaranteed crits on kill and you suddenly have a one-eyed Scottish mulcher chewing through a gaggle of Medics and putting a ton of damage on a giant, especially if you have health on kill and resistances on.
You did it. You found the Demoman equivalent to the market garden.
Loose cannon with skull cutter can allow blast jumping on hybrid knight, so skypirate demo might be interesting
medival mode makes u a god with this weapon and a shield
Another amazing video
It works well with the Scottish Resistance and Base Jumper. Launch yourself into the air, deploy parachute, spam stickies, pull out the axe, and do whatever you can to reduce or negate fall damage then go to town with it.
The loadout is basically suicide every time you use it and you'll probably only get a swing or two it so you might as well take full advantage of it.
5:31 Eldritch Feline was observed assimilating its corporeal form into a wooden object, commonly used as a bludgeoning weapon in the video game Team Defense Fort II: Electric Boogaloo
Thank god you are alive 3 of my fav TF2 youtuber are gon
Ah yrs the weapon that screams *"IT JUST WORKS"*
I was literally playing demoflight with the skullcutter/eyelander a few hours before this video came out haha
Just a heads up for any new demoknight’s
If you obtain five heads with the eyelander, shield bash and Croat using the splendid screen, it will one shot all classes in the game including heavies
I tend to use it against enemy Demoknights with 4+ heads on the Eyelander because fuck them, and sometimes I like using it on the Hybridknight set with the Iron Bomber and the Tide Turner to imitate the berserk mode when I charge at someone.
Loose Cannon/Iron Bomber jumps are worth considering as a demoknight or hybrid demo tbh
Nice video toofty very cool
i personally really like using it with the loose cannon and charge and targe, i think it's pretty fun
if you are using it with stock or hybrid, something you could do is jump, and then take it out! your air momentum is not affected by the speed reduction, so you go regular speed until you hit the ground.
Personally I like it when doing hybrid knight as usually you will have the tide turner so the movement penalty is taken away and the extra damage makes it better with the turner as you will do more damage. I just like the big axe.
Use it with tide turner and the loose cannon so you can do cannon jumps and still have the shield charges
when you are in the air the slower movement speed applies to strafing so you strafe slower
Now THIS.... this sounds fun
8:20 he just made a new subclass
this weapon is hilarious and has become my go-to Demoknight weapon as of late. big funny axe.
2:52 ''im not gonna sugarcoat it''
I usually used this with the loose canon and the jumper before I quit 2 months ago and I had a lot of fun
sticky jumper is just generally fun to fly into some poor unassuming sniper with the meme melee of your choice- and i just got 360 quickscope airshot
My Skullcutter is almost Server-Clearing. I was using a Skullcutter long before I acquired a Strange version, and at the time it seemed like direct upgrade. Spent probably close to two years of playing a Skial 24/7 Hightower server using the Loose Cannon, Tide Turner and Scotsman’s Skullcutter. I unboxed a Vivid Plasma Stormin’ Norman around the same time.
To this day Demoman is still my most played class, despite having switched to Trolldier on Hightower and Medic for everything else.
i remember taking down a medic on badwater with the tide turner and axe, i couldn't see the medic and this was like my first couple of games of demoknight, goodtimes
Hey Toofty, great video! Can you make a guide for the quickiebomb launcher next?
Demo's swords only have 30% extra range, not 50.
Taken from the wiki: "The Scotsman's Skullcutter bears similarities to the Demoman's swords, with 50% increased melee range and 75% slower deploy/holster speeds".
The wiki could be wrong though, what's your source?
