    I got my short-shifter 40% reduced throw from CEUK identical to the Airtec one pretty much. Thanks to this video I will attempt it myself too! :D

      Christopher Ayres excellent👍🏻 Apologies, I'm not familiar with your background, but how do you know so much about the RS mods. Have you had a lot of modding time on Fords or worked at a dealers? Always appreciate the tips, my order is months away though. Take it easy.

      +Chris Preston I was on the Chassis/Powertrain launch team for it. Plus spent many of years as a chassis production manager where they build the Focus, ST, C-Max, Focus Electric. I know the process of putting these cars together from bar bodies, and as being management I had to know each process better than my hourly workers. My methods for modding are the same for building them new. Standardized Work.

    Still a useful vid to this day, thank you. Mainly needed the vid for the roll pin removal process but mine came out in like 2 min very easy install for my car took about 5 min literally.

    Chris , I installed this on my Focus RS too . It's not a hard job to do . Kind of easy . I slightly groung the lead-in side of the role pin with a grinder before reinstalling it . The solid shifter bushings were a Much harder job to do . But I got it done .

    That dumb pin took me 30mins of banging on it before it even budged, then another 15 to get it all the way out! I installed a different shift arm but process was the same and also chose the 25% reduction. And after adding a heavier shift knob, it's soo smooth now.

      +manuel campos Yea it's a PITA, I suggested a brass hammer to get it out, but didn't have one myself. It's called a spring pin, basically flat stock wound up and heated to spring. Feels so good wit it in though.

    Hi Chris I wanted to thank you very much for all these great videos. I have not done any mods yet but I plan to and I will be using your videos for sure. What you are doing here for many of us is really awesome. I had one question for you I don't really know much about how some of these mods effect the emissions but I live in California so it might be different than where you are. How do I know if my car would pass smog when that time comes? I am really holding off because of that fear and because I know that Cobb had a stage two package for the st which was carb approved here in California. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The disclaimer on every mountune product that these products were not made for street use just scares me. Anyway thanks and please keep posting videos :-)

      +Paul Salamasidis All of the mods I have done minus the tune, which I am unsure as it was made by someone in California so I'm betting even that are C.A.R.B. Compliant. All Mountune parts are C.A.R.B. If you contact Dan at Mountune when ordering he will be able to assure you or attach any nessicary paperwork if needed. Hope this helps.

      +Fezza it is absolutely great. I love the throw without compromising the shifter height. It feels a lot more notch like a gated shift. Maybe not like your fararri but close. Lol

    Thank you Christopher, you made it look easy! Hey I just wanted to ask you did you do any kind of break-in on the car before up-grades?

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад

      Charlie Times To be honest I did not break in my car. The cars have such high tolerances these days, and some little known info, while at the factory they actually Dyno every car built up to redline immediately after being built. Sometimes twice to DVT test them. I actually hit my rev limiter out of the dealership in 2nd trying to show off to my wife. Lol. I don't condone that, but believe personally the break-in only applies to cars made before the year 2005 or autos with an automatic transmission. These are my beliefs, except your car being dyno'ed at factory, I know that happens.

      metcaelfe Never a bad idea for longevity! Don't do what I did, I'm just saying I did do it and have no negative affects as of YET! Lol. I've always had plans to take my motor further than stock though so I'll soon have another break in period.

    • @charlietimes2770
      @charlietimes2770 7 лет назад

      I think I'm going to wait a while before any engine up-grades but will do the shifter from mountune and the billet bushings. I never really ragged on any of my cars, specially the ones I truly loved. I love this RS! Just a lot of in to scoot around in. Thank you for your advice Christopher, and keep those videos coming. Did you get on a dyno since all the the up-grades?

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад

      Charlie Times Yes. Without my soon to come intercooler I'm making 367 WHP and 410 WTQ.

  • @mpg447tube

    Is that part lighter than stock? Also, do you think it possible to like press the pin out with a jigged clamp or something; that hammering looks painful! Thanks for sharing your stuff too! Anxious for more!

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад +1

      +mpg447tube Yes. It weighs about half. It's real nice feeling. You may be able to press it out, its basically rolled 1/32 " steel to form a 1/8 " round pin. If your able to press it's worth a try. That's how they are installed at the plant.

  • @ShapeshiftedCow
    @ShapeshiftedCow 6 лет назад

    Hey Chris. I'm gonna lose my mind trying to hammer that pin out. Do you know if you can pry out that black circular piece on top of the stock assembly to get access to the middle of the pin for applying penetrating oil or WD40? I noticed the Mountune unit leaves that space open. I feel like I'm getting nowhere.

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  6 лет назад

      +ShapeshiftedCow you will eventually break through. It’s getting it to move is the hardest part. Just keep going at it. Took me about half hour.

    im contemplating getting the breedt quickshift instead since it allows for more options.

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад +1

      +pr0jectSkyneT For sure go with what your comfortable with. I just happen to have a bit longer arms so the through reduction I was looking for was the minimal. Even at minimal the feeling is huge! You will love any short through you get and adjustability is always a plus.

    is it possible to misalign the Shifter installing this part? or is it safe enough for even a novice like me to tackle?

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад +2

      metcaelfe Yes, However the only two ways it can be mounted wrong is 1. Up-side-down and 2. 180 degrees off in which your shifter ball stud would be on the right instead of the left when looking at it from the front of the car. In both, you would not be able to hook up your linkage to the ball-stud.

    • @metcaelfe
      @metcaelfe 7 лет назад

      Christopher Ayres thanks for the response matey. so basically, if you aren't completely oblivious to obviousness you can't really mess this up, due to the fact you couldn't fully complete the install. makes me think I can do it! :-)

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2

      +Kyle Spicer here is the direct link. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003ZAGI9E/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493503906&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=race+ramps&dpPl=1&dpID=31JK9DEz5vL&ref=plSrch

      +Kyle Spicer did that link work for you?

    • @kylespicer5761
      @kylespicer5761 7 лет назад

      Christopher Ayres
      yes It did. I ordered it and it will be here monday. I originally ordered the Rhino ramps but they are too steep and wont work because the car is too low

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад

      +Kyle Spicer I did the same. These are worth every penny, even if just for changing your oil.

    • @kylespicer5761
      @kylespicer5761 7 лет назад

      i didnt realize how many parts needed installed from underneath the car. You have the downpipe, exhaust system, PTU brace, blow off valve, rmm, etc. Its definitely worth every penny. I can either buy the ramp and install every thing myself or pay 2k for someone else to do it. I think Ill just buy the ramps lol

  • @kylespicer5761
    @kylespicer5761 7 лет назад

    I cant even get the pin out. Does the shifter have to be in a certain position to hit it out or can I move the shifter to give me more space? Using this brass hammer sucks

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад

      +Kyle Spicer No. after hitting the pin in for about 5-10 mins you will see the rolled steel spring start to come out slowly. Just make sure you hitting the pin as straight as possible. It takes a lot to just get it to move but once it does it goes a lot faster.

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад

      +Kyle Spicer you can move the shift arm as it only comes apart and goes together one way for better leverage. It's a time consumer with the rolled spring pin they use and you re-use but you will be in aw once in and shifting. The ball studs won't let you install the arm wrong unless you cross them or try to instal the arm up side down.

    • @kylespicer5761
      @kylespicer5761 7 лет назад

      it just feels like im not going anywhere. have been hitting it for 20 mins

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад

      +Kyle Spicer That's how it is. If you want to step up to a harder steel hammer you can give it a try pending you have room which I know there is none.

  • @NocoPBMLS2

    Chris you need blue induction silicone hoses hahaha. too much black!!!

    • @ChristopherAyresfrs2
      @ChristopherAyresfrs2  7 лет назад

      +NocoPBMLS2 I wanted grey but they didn't have them yet. I don't like to be flashy about my mods. If I can throw over 370Whp and it look stockish that's what I want.
