I have had a catch can installed on the Mountune USA oil baffle part (which Christopher installs in this video), and also with the Mountune UK RS baffle plate. Scott Peabody sorry Scott I did not mean to not answer your question. RUclips had comments down November 4th and 5th. I will try to give you the most accurate answer as this depends. You have probably notice I use mostly Mountune mods. From what I understand as long as it's a Mountune part and an ASE certified mechanic install the part then no. There is also impact depending on your dealer. If I upgrade my motor mount and the subframe cracks where it attaches (not at all likely) they could blame it on the stiffer mount and deny the claim. Now if I do an oil baffle upgrade and my engine mount breaks, likely they will warranty it. They have to show a correlation in the mod and the defect which is hard. The ASE mechanic stuff all depends on your dealer. 95% of dealers do not care if you mod your car. In fact some may be interested I've found and be happy to do the work. Most dealers won't know some upgrades from stock. So in short if you have a dealership that is so to say cool and willing to be helpful than chances are they won't care. They also really cannot void your whole cars warranty because you put an intake on and say your sync stops working. They are completely unrelated to each other. I have had warranty work done on a break squeak with all of my mods with no issue, the tech was actually interested in my mods more than anything. The one exception to this rule is tuning. Once you tune it will always show if they investigate it even if you flash back to stock before hand. That's "if" they dig into it. I can't tell you they will not care but will tell you I have never had issues with several dealers. I hope that explains the answer, I can't tell you yes or no, only what I've herd and experienced. For the most part unless your warranty claim is a direct result of your modification they won't care, my suggestion if it is a direct issue to the mod is to go back stock before you take it in. They cannot blame a mod that's not there, if it's a tune though they can see it no matter however. I hope this is insightful. It's a very hard answer that does not have a 100% certain yes or no to. -CA

I can say that I believe this and all cars burn a small amount of oil, especially sport cars. It's been 3,000 miles since the baffle was installed and I just checked my oil level. It was still very close to the fill hole. Note that when the motor is not at operating temps and you rev or get on it hard it will burn oil, all cars will. Your rings are not hot enough to expand, rubber gaskets such as valve seals are still cold and not expanded. So on a brand new RS that has been. Sitting 3 days at day 50 degrees Fahrenheit and you start it and rev it to 6000 rpm it will smell like and burn a tiny bit of oil. This is pretty much uniform across all cars.
avus3 it's not a vs., they can work in tandem. The oil baffle is the direct source of where the oil comes that ends up in you catch can. So a baffle that lets no liquid oil through eliminates a catch can need. Now baffles, mostly aftermarket can be great a small amount of oil will make it to your catch can. Think of it like this. Stock baffle you empty a half a quart of oil every 3 months. With a baffle that oil goes to maybe an Ounce every 3 months. There is no real right answer???? If money were no limit then both. If I had to choose one than Baffle for sure.
I dont own a FRS,but i do own a Ford 2.5T,i like you're methodical way of doing upgrades.

-CA
thanks for your answer keep up the interesting videos and info.
Chris, can you turn me onto a retailer or two? I cannot find any one who sells mountune parts after search on the web. thanks
Scott Peabody I am no way affiliated with them and am not sponsored, etc. they just make really good parts. www.mountuneusa.com is their retail site. They are out of California.
Hi Christopher. How much time did you spent in total for the installation? Thanks
Maybe an hour. It was pretty straight forward.
Thanks
No problems.
hi Chris has the breather solved the oil use ?
Ian Marshall so far I have not noticed any burnt oil, bunt oil smell, or black smoke.
Christopher Ayres thanks Chris I'm from the UK ,north west near Liverpool I've just fitted all the 375 mountune parts and fords about to upgrade the map so I'll get a baffle plate from mountune, is the focus st one the same? mountune UK won't say if it is thanks great blogs on the rs
Ian Marshall as far as I know they are the same. I'm 98% sure.
This is pretty much uniform across all cars.
why a baffle vs a catch can?
avus3 it's not a vs., they can work in tandem.
Does this mod void warranty ??
+mac dawg I am unsure to be honest with you. Sorry
what are the TQ specs
Tony Aquiningoc hand tighten baffle. 15 ft lbs on intake manifold. No specs for baffle. It probably around 5-10 mm.
