This song feels strangely comforting and hopeful, as if saying: "yeah you've messed up in the past but it'll be okay"

During my high school years, my suburban friend played this in his car as a starter to his driving playlist on his ipod in 2009. Me, growing up poor never knowing ever having such amenities next to him was blown away from hearing even the first second to the very end of this song. Later after a few years, he ended his life. When ever I remember that this song exists every now and then , I am brought back to then on a cold flagstaff night riding shotgun with no worries or lifegoals in mind. I always felt no one after matt felt the same vibe brought by this song. I am brought with happiness with comments feeling with such positivity

This song reminds me of the good old days, with people I no longer speak or engage with for various reasons. Sad, yet beautiful in a sense. Sad that friendships are bound by energy other than loyalty & beautiful to reflect on the memories. Just because we don't speak to the people, it doesn't mean we shouldn't smile, reflect, process & move forward. Happy Sunday. Stay blessed ✌🏼

The thing I love about the best of the Libertines' songs (like this one) is that they're chaotic, but still somehow hang together, returning to an underlying melody. Kind of like punk rock, in that they're not particularly sophisticated sonically, but quite unlike anything else, they have a complex structure that's satisfying. If that makes any sense?
If the drugs hadn't got in the way, maybe they could have conquered the world.

two of the most dumbest and tired and untrue cliches about rock music: “it’s simple yet it’s still good!!!” , “it was made ON DRUGS!!!”. Most musical collaborations don’t last anyway and there’s nothing remarkable about a good piece of music not being ornate and convoluted, in fact its the other way around, complex music has a hard time sounding good

    • @davenotdoug8394
      @davenotdoug8394 Год назад

@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369 I agree. Mostly - chaotic can be its own kind of complex. And complex, just like simple, can be good or shite.

"Don't Look Back Into The Sun"
Don't look back into the sun
Now you know that the time has come
And they said it would never come for you
Oh, my friend, you haven't changed
You're looking rough and living strange
And I know you got a taste for it too
They'll never forgive you, but they won't let you go. Oh no,
She'll never forgive you, but she won't let you go. Oh, no
Don't look back into the sun
You've cast your plans, but you're on the run
And all the lies you said. Who did you save?
But then they played that song at the death disco
It started fast but it ends so slow
And all the time it just reminded me of you

Don't look back into the sun
Now you know that your time has come
And they said it would never come for you
Oh my friend you haven't changed
Your're looking rough and living strange
I know you got a taste for it too
And they'll never forgive you but they wont let you go, oh no
She'll never forgive you but she won't let you go, oh no
Don't look back into the sun
Where you've cast your plans and you're on the run
And all that lies you said, huh did you say?
But then they played that song at the death disco
It starts fast but it ends so slow
And all the time it just reminded me of you
And they'll never forgive you but they wont let you go, oh no
She'll never forgive you but she wont let you go, oh no
Don't look back into the sun
Don't look back into the sun
Don't look back into the sun

trust me man its not that. i remember being into several good bands at 14 among them babyshambles and so on but for some reason i never got to know libertines at that time (im not from Uk). So now over 10 years later i heard their albums for the first time. and some of their songs (including this one of course) are one of my favorites now of all time. Its just great fucking melodies with a realness to it. its hard to come by these days for real. 90% of bands on that KEXP radio station on youtube have boring ass songs.
