CJ it fixed my problem I thought I had a ps4 pro until I went to replace this I bought A Samsung 860 Qvo for 120$ on Amazon prime
CJ but I couldn’t play warzone,apex even physical copy’s that used to load in 5-15 seconds took minutes and sometimes so long my ps4 would just turn off

I would add an edit however. Tell people to back up their storage with a separate file. Going to settings > system > back up restore. This makes sure to get all the settings and capture gallery and other things that uploading to the cloud doesn't back up.

My son's PS4 HDD died the death, so I was left with a pretty puzzle, how to fix it on a nonexistent budget. Being fairly techy but unfamiliar with PS system I have no time to tinker and figure it out. Your tutorial was a godsend! Thank you so much for this video. I wanted a 1TB PS4 but didn't want it in black or any colour that was available so I bought the silver 500GB (couldn't get gold anywhere so silver second choice). I have never used a screwdriver in my life and don't know anything about electronics, I also never comment on youtube videos, but just wanted to let you know your instructions were crystal clear and nothing confused me or made me panic during the process because you had already warned us of things like the internal HD not fitting the tray, the software download onto the USB and so on. I am now happily setting up my PS4. Thanks!
Thanks. I started watching this video with the back of my ps4 slim, along with the screws, removed. This was way easier than I thought it'd be. Best wishes.
Thank you! The new firmware (4.50 - as of March 2017) does everything for you. It detects the new drive, realizes it needs to be updated and asks you to toss the USB drive containing the 800 mb update on there. Thing is, if you have a chubby usb stick, it won't fit into the slot - you'd need an extension cable to do so!
I used a 1 terabyte sshd drive and I ended up with 861 gb after the required system stuff on it....
Thanks to this tutorial, I got my first PS4 with a bad HDD back up and running! Now I have one for streaming and one for the living room :) Thanks so much!
Were your games crashing a lot?
@@Juan_rivera nah. If they are, they may not have been copied over properly or the HD may not have been connected properly.

s y n x y I bought mine from amazon, a Toshiba 2tb for 70$, works just like the other one slightly bit less loading times, you can buy more RPM for more expensive, or if you are fine with loading times you have just get the same specs

You saved me a lot of headache, thought I was gonna have to buy a T8 torx screwdriver, but this was easy to do. Took the 860 evo ssd I had in my computer, formatted it to exFAT and got it into the ps4 without too much screaming lol

I replaced the 500GB hard drive to a 2TB. I followed your instructions to the tee. I get to the reboot and install the new system update, and it keeps telling me that the update can't be found. Please help.
Update: After I realized that I installed the 300MB file (it's easy to get confused with there being three links) instead of the 900MB file, I corrected the error and the system has been updated and the gaming has begun. Thank you for your easy to follow instructions.

The name of the hard drive I got was a Seagate 1TB Mobile HDD. Please note: the the hard drive MUST be notebook compatible, anything other than that won't work.

@@LeksandSupport I got a 2tb blue western digital. More reliable but now I'm being more safe because the last 2 hdd's broke on me. So I recommend keeping 500gb if you don't play alot. If you play a lot like me I'd keep 600+ gb of free space. I've lost my data twice so I'm taking precautions. I'm not a hdd expert but since my hdds broke twice im just saying that.

Yes. It's quieter than the original Xbox One with it's huge fans, Xbox One S, and the original PS4.

Mystic - you rock! Thanks a ton. My son's PS4 had a problem. Getting the error code SU-41336-7. I searched and found that it is the problem of hard disk. I went to authorised Sony service centre and they told me that this PS4 is not repairable. They got me a 50% discount to buy a new PS4 as it was only 2 years old. I then watched your video and got the hard disk replaced and got my PS4 back to normal. Thumbs down to Sony service centre.

You missed a step. The external you will use to store the firmware has to be formatted to exfat
or fat32

DickDown Dave When you are in your files screen you right click on the usb drive and click “format device” once you do that there should be the option to format it
@@xxlezzon9981 that's wrong. That's what you do if you want to use it as an external. But as in internal, you have to connect it to a pc/laptop, reformat to exact and then download the ps file from from their site.
You should do a video of your recommended hard drives for the slim and this might seem like a very stupid question but this wont affect the warranty, will it?
It won't affect the warranty...Sony would not make it easy to change the HDD if it did plus they did made it easy on PS4 cuz they knew people would need it.

(U have to have ps-plus) go to saved system data, press "download to system storage" and then select the data from the games you want to download and bam u got ur saves n stuff
