15:57 in original doom 3 not the bfg edition, you could run up to the boss with the chainsaw and just saw the tank hes riding for like 3 seconds and it would insta kill him. i dont remember if they patched it or not
The chainsaw isn’t a plothole lol there are PDA emails addressing how Mixom sent them by mistake instead of jackhammers and the employees calling it ridiculous that chainsaws ended up on Mars. the game really is even funnier when you read the emails.
chat: "you just wasted a bullet" as a og doomer, wasteing one bullet is one step closer to using a chainsaw. i have played the absolute bloodshedding hell out of this game and i don't think i've ever had a moment where i've ran out of ammo. shotgun is best used so up close that your collision detection touches the enemies, takes 1 shot to kill an imp takes 10 to kill a hell knight. learned this in nightmare mode. :T
Have some respect, man. This game was ground breaking when it came to visuals. It was the first game with proper dynamic illumination (no bounce lighting at that time). It was melting even the best GPUs in 2004. We were really scared when we played it. Now people are just desensitized. We didn't see FPS horror shooters up until that point. Maybe The Suffering but DOOM 3 wiped the floor with it.
During the original 2004 release, Doom 1-2 and Quake 1-2-3 were still relevant. Resident Evil was well-established and Call of Duty was barely a year old. Doom III didn't hold up to the action standards of those games and was nowhere near the level of Resident Evil as a horror game. Also, the original flashlight couldn't be used together with a weapon, which made combat in dark areas very tedious. There were many jokes about duct tape shortages or the uncoordinated Doomguy. It may have had demanding graphics (which you couldn't really see because of the ambient darkness) but the rest of the game didn't hold up.
@@dudejo I got Doom 3 on release in the UK. August 2003. I was 36 then so yeah, I'm 3 years off 60 now. I'd followed id since Commander Keen. The graphics were great and the gameplay was indeed lacking. Already by this time id's games were showcases for Carmack's engines. I felt this had crept in with Quake 3 with no proper singleplayer campaign. I don't call playing deathmatch against bots singleplayer. Some people said that the engine showcase thing started with the first Quake and Romero being forced to resign.
Doom 3 has a lot of cool ideas but imo the pacing is all wrong. I get why they couldn’t throw massive hordes of demons at you (performance limits), but they could’ve made fights more frequent. I’d love to see a Doom 3 campaign mod that tweaks the weapons a bit and makes levels combat gauntlets. I guess Phobos is kinda that
Ah yes, cause why ever take a game for what it is? You have to have the right insight going in or else it's all worthless! You can't laugh at the jumpscares, don't you know they're to scare you? No, please don't laugh... it's really scary guys.. c'mon. Believe me...
I've played em! Just didn't make them into a video because I didn't think they stand on their own as well as the base game. They are my favorite part of DOOM 3 tho. Actually kinda fun
Honestly, I'm one of those who thinks that Doom 3 is a great game, but it shouldn't be part of Doom series. Same as all Quakes after the first, or all FarCrys after the first. Except for being first person shooters, they're drastically different in concepts, atmosphere, mechanics and minute nuances. Also, Doom 3 is an action horror (same as Dead Space), not a survival horror (Amnesia, Alien Isolation).
The game engine is impressive, but boy, do the guns feel.. what is the word... weak? lackluster? unsatisfying? Most of the time, I was not even sure, whether I am hitting the target due to lack of visual or audible feedback. How could they get _this_ so wrong? This is a "Doom" game that tries so much to be "Half-Life", yet sucks at being both.
“I’m the damage” greatest video game line of all time
6:59 if i remember well you can find a log that explains why there is a chainsaw on mars
It was a shipment error i think
glad it has an explanation at least. That's cute
@@Raitro_
3:58 - Might be the reason why the said explanation was missed, but that's just a hypothesis
Spent 10 minutes figuring out the lift, can’t believe raitro isn’t forklift certified.
can't believe Raitro doesn't even lift bro

the funny thing is i fyou read the emails you know why the chainsaws are on mars
Yep
@@deadmind1566 why are they on mars im interested
@@blockofland-qo2oj It was a shipping mistake where the company that was shipping sent chainsaws instead of tools for excavation and stuff
@@deadmind1566 ahh okay cool thanks

Now Ressurection of Evil, the expansion :)
There is literally a description on the chainsaw the tells you it was a wrong shipment 🤣🤣
I know it's not for everyone but I still love Doom 3. It was quite entertaining to watch you play this. Kudos!
Happy 20th anniversary doom 3, you'll be remembered as a hidden gem and ahead of your time 🥳🥳🥳
14:40 you can definitely read it. The log exists if you download it from that terminal.
14:00 Its actually stated in the books that yes, by teleporting to hell, you get stripped of your clothing as well

on the second minute, I was asking my mom if I could have DOOM3
Weirdly enough, it actually gets a little scary near the end. And only because of the atmosphere.
I played doom 3 a lot of times because I did some magic and got it on my school teachers were confused
TF?!? 😂
"why so SERIOUS batman" - joe ker

"Don't listen to me...."
Okay then (shoots scientist)
I had no idea you could just shoot everyone in the beginning😂😂
this is my favorite raitro video of all time
the joke is that the chainsaws arrived there as a mixup with the shipping company
What an amazing video lol. You really did legit turn this classic into a proper comedy 😅 mad kudos!
Red Faction Guerrilla already claimed "Re-Mars-tered" title.
eyyyy another raitro upload before new year!
0:50 there's already a remaster of a game called that lmao
Red Faction: Guerilla ReMarstered
Doom 3 was my absolute favorite doom game!! And I've been playing doom since 1993!

Some people like making the distinction of "Good for its time" which might be true, but I just find it funny regardless of that
I wonder how long in the future until someone Doom Eternal is outdated@@Raitro_

DOOM 3 is also on VR [it makes it a lot harder for me]
this is absolutely hysterical 💀 please please do more doom 3
Doom 3 was dead space pretty much
The way this guy figure out the game and his skill is more funny then the game 🤣
7:38 *bad UI* literally in front of his face ... people like you made him change the code to 123 and they still forgot ....

killing everyone he got the bad ending
Random question how many times did you die doing ultra nightmare on doom eternal
I can see the problem already, you're playing the BFG Edition.
Correction, the problem is that he's playing doom 3, BFG Edition or not.
Fuck hahaha Slayer is feeling murderous
Speedrun eternal horde mode
Doom 3 was something else
I remember super turbo turkey puncher from 2016 and doom 3 too bad it’s not in doom eternal
