I can't decide between the Defender and the Discovery, I really like the design of the second one but I also like the off road capability of the Defender 😭
Discovery has a lot of Defender features (same as all LR models; e.g., wade depth may even be better), but I love the Defender.
The defender back end looks much better the discovery back end looks like a refrigerator

lol - guys relax it’s a crack and ain’t going nowhere ~ look at the pressure on the windshield through the test - lots of angles and tilt / almost any off-roader has a crack

Not necessarily. With all the different terrain modes, it will do just fine.

Why does Land Rover, Toyota, Mercedes & Lexus put narrow sidewall tires on 18”+ rims on their off road vehicles? Whereas, Jeep, Ford & GM put all-terrain or mud-terrain high sidewall tires on 17” beadlock capable rims on their off road vehicles. The later makes more sense to me.
The brake rotors are too big to fit in 17 inch wheels.

Likely because in the rest of the world 33's are the standard. Only in North America are 35's more common.
Becuase 35’s or 33’s are going to drive fleet economy mpgs down. Since LR doesn’t offer factory rock rails or more significant underbody protection, larger tires aren’t needed

Honestly it can do way more then you did in the video. My old disco series 2 can do way more than what was done in the video. I'm just saying since it seems like you're not really used to off-roading just taking it on like a level 2 dirt road Trail wait till it's not snowing cold and climb up some real rutted deep cross axle big tall step up Rocky things. The kind of thing that jeep guys would do. Don't get me wrong I like the defender but Land Rover did a terrible job compared to what they could have by making it air suspension independent suspension. Doesn't mean it won't work it just means they focused more on comfort and Street handling which is stupid for their Flagship model of an off-road only company that that should be their top off-road vehicle and now you have companies making a better version of it like the Grenadier because it turned out to be so pathetic. You need to find out what the term cross axle means and articulation see how the defender throws a tire up in the air and what's the flip and lose traction which is totally pathetic because it's just off-road basics
.ooks capable enough. What happened to the windshield though? That's a big thing here in FL now, lack of replacement windshields for everything. Nobody including the dealers has replacement windshields. I mean, it is slow, but the same time, you want to be stable. Mud and muck don't seem to stop it. Be careful man. You don't want to have your wife beat you up because you rolled her car a couple times. Did you buy this new or used? I don't know hard,y anyone that has bought these new. Everyone buys them used because they don't really look different between years supposedly. But if you can get a used one for under 40k miles and it's half the price.?why not

Windshield already cracked lol. The new Defender is always going to be limited by its independent suspension. It doesn't matter how good your traction control is, 4 wheels making contact is always superior. It's a good tradeoff because most people will never take these cars offroad. At best they will do a dirt road like this. On any real offroading the old Defender is going to spank you.
Have you seen the people on Old Florida Road and doing Rubicon with 1 wheel 4 feet in the air? The Defender does things that they realistically shouldn't be able to do. It's kind of crazy. I think the real limiting factor here is ground clearance and approach angles. The Johnson Rods only get you so far on these.
Thats a highway not an offroad. Common man. I own 2024 Defender and Jeep Rubicon and I can tell you this.. Defender is a mall-crawler. No one should ever compare it to Rubicon. Yes it is luxury car it is more capable than a regular SUV but it is NOT an off-roader!
