So many beautiful flutes !!!! *Stares at his tarnished flute with a broken D key.*
One day.... one day....
Random case cover, just in "case".
Naomi Halperin I said the exact same thing haha
Her: I have a pink recorder! I don’t really know the fingerings for it
Also her: Turns in to Sarah Jeffreys and plays flawlessly
can you PLEASE do a review of cheap piccolos and flutes from amazon
Molly And More and clarinets bro
Sparkly Unicorn she doesn’t play clarinet bro
@@briseashelle3608 Its all in the name of Her Channel...
I FORGET MY FLUTE TO FLUTE LESSONS ALL THE TIME OMG ITS SO EMBARRASSING! I got so used to only bringing music to piano lessons that I started doing it with flute 😅😅😅
omg you should totally show off your textbooks and sheet music. It would be a helpful reference to start self studying music.
Hahaha, sounds good then ;)
You have multiple flutes that are nice... LUCKY!!!
Haha, thank you! 2 of them were obtained in extremely unexpected ways!!
please tell us how you got them :DDDDDD
Ikr, I'm a beginner flutist, though Im the best in my band, and I really want my own flute, I'm renting one right now
Mellowyellow9917 same
" I actually dont know the fingerings for this," HAHAHAHA... u lie
My flute stash is also overflowing with branded polishing clothes from flute conventions... I will never run out of cloths.... and flute-branded pencils. Got to love free flute festival merchandise!
Jemima Drews lol
Wow that sounds nice
I should probably go to one when I have the chance
9:40 "I probably should actually throw this one away" * puts back *
Lol
That old Korg brings back so many memories!
good morning i have a solo contest today wish me luck (flute)
Good luck!
Natalie Wooley Good luck with your concert!
Good luck!!
Woohoo, good luck!! You got this!
If you mess up, just say April Fools! Good Luck!!
funny thing you know the Recorder is just as hard to play as any other instrument once you get deeper into it even though I love the sound of the modern flute and heard the two of them played together by James Galway and Michala petri playing Le Basque I thought the one she was playing, the gargling piccolo was very responsive sometimes more in my opinion.
Ok but recorders
I have 3
I bought a hot pink one when I was in 3rd grade for kicks and then it turned out we were getting blue recorders in 4th grade
then after that I was like "nah I don't like pink or blue anymore"
So I got a purple recorder
Then in 5th grade I chose flute and never used any of them again
I tried re-learning it because recorder is a respectable instrument when it isn't in the hands of a 9 year old but our wind ensemble music is so demanding and it's junior year so I can't XD maybe when I'm a senior lol
Hannah Tran I have a yellow recorder, a blue one, and two beige ones😅😅
I would LOVE to see all your music and textbooks! :D
I love how Joanna can make even 20$ plastic instrumental toys sound absolutely beautiful😂
I love Hercules stands. I have a flute stand that stores inside my footjoint. That way I can never forget it when I'm doing some show or bringing my flute to a gig with all the other saxophones and clarinets that i seem to bring.
Harp, violin, guitar, guitar, guitar, flute, flute, crystal flute, two tuners, two music stands (one old lightweight one, one almost-brand-new-yay-finally heavy sturdy stand), a 1930's piano accordion, a desk with a CD case, lamp, and a drawer for miscellaneous music stuff when I'm playing, a sturdy wooden magazine stand for current music books, CD player and speakers, a mirror, a bookcase full of music books, a bowed psaltery, a chanter for a bagpipe (no bagpipe), a plastic tub of antique handkerchiefs I use for swabs, box of Kleenex because sometime my nose just starts to drool randomly when I am playing (does that ever happen when you are performing, and if yes, what do you do?), tea-tree oil for my lips, a couple of decorative boxes for more random stuff such as strings and straps, a pneumo-pro, a Hercules single flute stand. The best music accessory of all is a music room. I was staring into the remains of my daughter's bedroom one day after she had departed from a whirlwind Christmas visit, and I thought, "This would make a lovely music room," and so it does. Having all music stuff in one place is heavenly. Her bed is still there, just back in the corner now. Hope that you are now at rest enjoying the fruits of your labor, and that you love your new music room as much as I do mine.
Wow, you really make the recorder sound good as if you played it every day 😊👏
love your fife and pink recorder playing. nice video. you have so many stuff.
just reminded me of what happened earlier. my dad told me to look for the methods for clarinet and trombone for he has new students. so as i was looking through his stuffs -there are a lot of it as well as dust, i found a lot of sheet music from his teaching days and the elementary method for french horn (WTFigaro!). found the methods for clarinet but could not find the trombone one. we have a saying, it is is difficult to find something when your are looking for it, but it will eventually appear when you are not looking for it. so, i am still hopeful that my father's method book for trombone will eventually be found.
Omg, I have a Korg too! I don't use it anymore either in place of my apps. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
That Jupiter model is the same as my first flute!!! Memories❤️
I like the Korg tuner. Generally I find that smartphone tuners are hard to use and don't do well in the top octave.
About the recorder, I tried one recently and totally overblew the note. It's takes a lot less air!
Joanna, tell me, what are the top line replacement Pads for Yahmaha? Pistoni or the other is Schroeder. So far you got me thinking bout the Gemeinhardt 30SHB.
I have the same Korg metro-tuner! I have the Hercules stand too...with the clips and it came with three peg holes, two flute pegs and one piccolo peg. I'd love a FluterScooter bag but they're waaaay out of my budget...I actually keep everything in a rolling laptop case...it holds my band music folder, flute, piccolo, my Hercules stand, and front pockets hold my metro-tuner, tons of pencils and erasers and another pocket where I keep spare swabs, polishing cloths, and pad papers.
FarfalleAlfredo I have the Hercules stand too and I love it 😃
I've had mine for just over a year, use it at every rehearsal and concert. I broke the drawstring on the bag though...have it temporarily tied in a knot, works good enough for now lol.
I also recommend getting the Korg metro-tuner. Several members of my band have tuners but mine seems to get the most accurate results so when the director doesn't have his handy, he uses mine.
@@NoodleyBits Hi! Korg has released the TM-60 metrotuner and I am unsure whether to get the TM-50 or TM-60. Which one should I get? Are there any differences (apart from battery life, layout of buttons etc)?
Were are my flutes who had no idea these vids existed until u started to play flute and now u r obsessed with these vids
Come on I know there's some people out there I want to know just to make sure u didn't embarrass myself
I have like 3 swabs for my flute. Like 5 empty bottles of valve oil for my trumpet.
Hey, I play the flute and i get really chapped lips. Do you know how to fix it?
What flute model is your first flute because I think that might be the flute that I am playing, I also can't find anything about it,
What gadgets do I have? A Hall crystal flute and a Tascam sound recorder.
That’s the same flute I started with too! 😂
HI, Your videos are great and your playing likewise!! What do U think of Azumi flutes? I can buy an Azumi 3ZSEO all .958 Britania sliver with an Altus S head joint and C footjoint for a great price! What do U think?? Yhanks, Chava (And good luck with your move)
I just watched your video. Thank you. I don't feel like such a pack rat now. I have multiple stands, rags, but you don't have flute lyres! I have a few of those since I still march. Maybe you could review those? We have found the best one to be the Flutists Friend. BUT there needs to be some revisions to it to make it better. How do I get a hold of them???
I just wanted to say that recorder looked unprofessional but you've made it look so cool and so good and you played like a freaking Pro great job Joanna
Joanna, What is the cost for the Silver Head Joint you need that you need the $$$$ for? {You may have gotten by now according you the date you made this vid.}
I only have a somewhat broken-but working flute stand, an old flute case that broke, a new flute case.
Actually the Lord of the rings flute part theme was played on a soprano Recorder I think or some kind of vertical flute
Irish tin whistle aka penny whistle. A high D whistle.
7:00 where can I get the sheet music?I want to play it for a concert if its long enough.(If its not long enough then just please send it to me either way :3)
Hi, so i'm usually the first chair flutist when chair tests and such things come around, but once a year, our region does auditions for the band and whatever chair you get in there, my band director moves us around. I guess i was having a bad day I had lost my music, then had to get new ones, then my E to F sharp trill wasn't coming out, then my stand broke while i was playing and i had to start over, it was awful, one of the worst days of my life and yes i still made it into the region band, gladly, but my chair placement wasn't a good one, and in my band i got moved down several chairs, i'm one of the last second flutist now. So basically this is getting all rambly and to sum it up, i think my playing and sound are getting weaker because all of the not so good flutist around me, how do i maintain my playing when everyone else is so bad?
All those things are so cool 😃❤🎼🎹🎶
Hi Joanna! please recommend flute textbooks for self learning the flute, thank youu
7:03 every time a try a flute/recorder family instrument that is my go-to song
I had to fix my flute this morning after the bar and key fell off .. after I put it together I put all the springs in place and when I started playing it I realized one of my keys are leaking ..great.. I'm 13 I don't have a clue on how to fix that
7:30 i love how you still keep your little finger on :)
How many flutes do you have total? Lol
What brand is that fife? I want to get one.
Does that suitcase have an undetectable extension charm on it?
It's amazing how much stuff we can gather throughout the years! And you just reminded me that I need to go buy some cigarette paper aswell...I never know which one to buy, It's so confusing! xD
Catarina Sousa I recommend the OCB Cigarette paper or the cigarette paper that's the brand called Raw ( It's organic cigarette paper). Those are the ones that I've used
Kiara Eijo Thank you so much for the advice!
why is it when she is it that when she plays any type of flute it sounds wavy does she do that on purpose?
11:28, Wewt! Like the lil Canadian flag pin, we show up everywhere hehe.
completely get what you just said about keeping old cases around.... I just recently (like this decade) purged an old Grmeinhardt solo piccolo hard case. Never used it since I purchased it (1993). Since my upgrade to my Gemeinhardt 3SHB (1992), because it has both slots for flute and piccolo. however, stupid me, when I just first moved back to San Diego from Anchorage, not realizing the heat difference, I left my case in the back of my car, while I was at work... it melted my hard case (which I didn't know was running at $60+ to replace just the case, alone) that was 1996/7, and I ended up never replacing it, because of the cost. I usually store my instrument on my tri stand (Flute/Tsax/Clarinet ) and my Piccolo on my stand lip. SERIOUSLY Jo, I need to start vlog replies!!!

Did I hear correctly? Was that thing called a "brass fife" (sorry if I spell wrong) I really want that!
I love how the first song you go to when demonstrating instruments is LOTR :)
Joanna! Does TSA give you a hard time when the X-ray machine picks up your Flute in your Carryon or Tavel Bag? Has TSA given you a hard time as attempted to confiscate your instrument?
Before I knew how or seen a flute I watched these videos and it helped a lot and now I'm 1st chair
Hey guys! So I'm moving furniture pretty much right now as you're reading this, so unfortunately, I won't be able to get to your comments (kinda like last week) very soon unfortunately. Just know that on my off-time, I will be reading what you guys say!
Love you guys
i named my new flute after you
I'm buying my first flute can't wait
OMG YOU PLAYED LORD OF THE RINGS ON YOUR BRASS FIFE!!!!!!!!!! IM PLAYING THAT IN BAND!
i’d rly rly rly like to see a vid about what method books and stuff you use
My mother pulled out my recorder from 3rd grade! HAHAHA!!! I have it and share it with my 2nd grade recorder students! They think it's 'cool'! My first flute was a Bundy! I still have it too!
I just moved house as well and when I was cleaning out my old room I found a flute I was given as a gift a couple of years ago.
An older couple gave it to me because they used to love hearing me play around the town I live in. I haven't played in almost three years but I've been looking to get back into playing. It needed a lot of work done to it, I got it priced and it would've cost more than the actual flute was worth to get it fixed.
A few weeks later I found out that the man who gave it to me actually had a cancer of some form and wanted to hear me play again before he passed away.
He passed before I could get it fixed or buy a new flute, but I've kept the flute for sentimental reasons
I learned playing the flute on a plastic fife from Yamaha. I'm so sad now that my mom sold it to my neighbour. Yours is so nice!
They're still on Amazon for under $10. A decent maple fife goes for $20 on most online shops.
Thank you so much! I'll definitely check that out.
I really really hope that they can make some kinds of thumbport for Chinese bamboo flute.. I also have very small hands and short fingers (especially thumb, and the top joint of my thumbs genetically cannot bend backwards) so it is very hard for me to hold a bamboo flute sturdy without hinder the movement of index fingers and my hand hurts when I play bamboo flute that is lower than C key...
Anyway, learnt a lot from your video! Thank you :D
My students always comment on how much stuff I have in my flute case. They have no idea how much more I have at my house
what is that song she played
Joanna I have a ensemble practice solo today (piccolo)
the other week i was looking for my EWI i and i found a shed load of stuff. 3 tuners, a Yamaha fife in key of C, 5 bamboo flutes i made a load of penny whistles, a mas of cleaning cloths oh and the other day i found an alto sax the other day i must of got in a splurge.
My gig bag is a bottomless pit. Peg, tuner, swabs, pencils, and a lot of the same things you've got. Only my recorder is green.
"I don't know any of the fingerings for this" *proceeds to play Lord of the Rings theme music on the recorder that she supposedly doesn't know any fingerings for*
I found a very old violin, old flute,a whole box of sheet music, broken flute cases, and a broken flute that looks like it wants to be put out of its misery
I love this video
Me at the beginning: "I wonder what instrument she plays?"
Me after 2 seconds: "flute. Yup."
Well although I play the flute, I primarily play the violin so I have a bunch of random violin stuff around. I have 3 cases (2 are pretty broken and crappy), one 3/4 size size violin (Idk why? We were supposed to give that back because we rented that from a violin store but...whoops.) Lastly, I have a couple of broken bows for no reason whatsoever.
What song is that at 7:05?
woah!! such a nice collection :0
Also, I know this is not related, but I'm really stuck haha. For a piece in band, flutes have to trill from Bb 5 and Eb 6 and like ??? I've been fiddling with my flute to figure out any sort of obscure way to do it, but I seriously can't figure it out? would anyone happen to know?
Melody Li - maybe google a flute trilling chart because they are really handy.
0Cherries :D ah yes, I figured it out a little while ago! thank you for your concern
Melody Li - you're welcome, I'm glad you found out sooner!
We have something in common, barely used recorders!! So what was that pretty tune you played on your fife and recorder?
She played "In Dreams" from The Lord of the Rings.
Erin F
TYSM YOU'RE THE BEST
How many flutes do you have???
Omg! How many flutes do you have?! It’s great
A video on text books would be helpful. The cedar wood is my favourite. I am saving
They still sell the 507s under a different model number
What is that lovely melody that you played on your brass fife and recorder? I want the sheet music for it
The Shire theme from Lord of the Rings
Kendra Dehnert Thanks!!
Hey right now I am renting a flute but I am going into high school next year and planning to play all four years. My mom said I could buy a flute as long as it is not too expensive. Any suggestions of flutes that sound good but won't cost too much??
CattyCool It really depends on your budget. I would recommend the Yamaha 222(or 221). This flute costs around $420. Also, stay away from cheap China brands like Mendini,Cecelio, and Glory.
One cheap but high quality instrument vendor that I have been consistantly impressed with is called cnbosherus on ebay. I was able to buy a really high quality wooden bassoon from them for extremely cheap, and their really nice flutes seem to go for about $200. I do recomend if you buy from them to get the instrument taken in because pads can certainly bump around in shipping (which when I got my instrument it was incased in about 50 layers of styrofoam and bubblewrap )
Try out a Di Zhao!
What's a fife?
If you're not at home and you leave your Brannen at home aren't you anxious about what could happen with your flute while you're away? Do you put it in a special locker maybe? I would be terrified of what could happen during the time I'm away from home, it could be stolen or something like that. I think I would carry a 20k flute with me all the time!
Do you play any other instruments? How many flutes do you have? And what brands are they?
Samantha Raymond She also plays piano
2:02 Unintentional pun
I have a pink recorder too, except im a brass player and have no idea how to play anything but a few songs like twinkle twinkle little star, mary had a little lamb, ect. I’m also pretty young though, sooo xD
you keep the case just in "case" ha ha ha I am so funny😅
students who come to lessons and forget their flute........HAHAHAHAHAHaHaHahahah...........thats me. My teacher half-died
I only smoke when I'm on fire! 🤣
I have 5 flutes I've collected over the years. Two of them broken and another so oxidised it can pass off as gold. Oh how we musicians hoard 😂
Have you ever thought of making a video on Tin Whistle? :D
I have 7 clarinets... (4 Bb sopranos, 1 Eb sopranino, 1 Eb alto, and 1 Bb bass)
I found a melodika in my storage yesterday i dont even remember buying it.
3:36 "Sometimes you end up saving these things just in *case* "
I have the exact same metrotuner as you.
Bruh, I have the captions on and it says "oh, and you can see that visiting ABBA(my cat sim cats name) Bob, wtf, ugh, you have the same tuner I have
we already know the flutes don't need tunners story but can you tell us the end?
You call it a metrotuner I call it a tunernome
