Stuck between a nice spec (purple and red interior) 2022 vs a base black on black 2023. I like the new screen but the shifter being removed kinda throws me off. What would you suggest I get ? Both are same price
Bought mine off the lot and it didn’t come with the Harmon Kardon system. The base hifi system just clears the ‘OK’ bar, but I’m always wanting more volume and more bass. Hoping for an aftermarket solution soon
Ordered my 2022 m240i in February got it in June, longest wait of my life! 1 thing no one ever complains about and maybe it’s just me but the shifter, in theory it’s awesome but in reality I hate it, I drive 1 hand on wheel and 1 on shifter, drive a little fast and hit the brakes, your hand moves forward and pushes the shifter into neutral NOT COOL, I’ve done this multiple times so I’ve had to force myself to not hold the shifter and hold the knob beside it…
Forgot to mention the sunroof, they just took a sunroof from another model and stuck it in there, it doesn’t roll back all the way and seriously bugs me, they could’ve made one to fit this model
I did notice that you’re correct! It’s a huge pane of glass. But doesn’t fully open. I believe it’s the same on the 3 and 4 series and both of those don’t fully open either, probably an aerodynamic thing I assume. I wish there was an option to delete the sunroof TBH.
What is that sound in the background? It sounds like some wino’s talking and breaking bottles. Otherwise a good update well done. My car is due end August so I will probably see it in September 22.
Could you please tell how you like this car compared to Audi RS cars that you were driving previously? CurrentLy I’m seriously thinking between an RS3 vs 240i. Thank you I appreciate it a lot
I have a G87 M2 now. If you don’t need a 4 door and AWD get the M2. It’s around the same price as the RS3, but has more power, feels more premium and handles much better. The only reason I had an RS3 in the past is because I needed AWD and 4 doors. It was a fun car, but it understeers way too much and the interior was bland and rattles. If you’re specifically looking at an M240i get the xDrive version for sure.
230 is still a good car, but it’s not even close to the M240 as far as power or handling performance. If you’re looking more for a daily commuter vs a speed machine the 230 is still a great value.
I recently had an M2 Comp. M3 Comp. X3 M40. X3M Comp. X3 30 MSport. All loaded and new. All rather expensive, except the X3 30. So, I'm not sure how you can do better for $60K loaded w/ xDrive and performance wheel pkg. The RWD Supra is $60K, and Toyota ruined the Z4 interior by putting a 2012 Corolla interior in it. The 240 has no real competitors at that price--especially with AWD. Plus, it has a shifter and iDrive roller. Gets awesome mpg. Has autopilot. Has the real B58. The single drawback is two doors, and only two dash trim options. My next car will be the 240, because I hate the M3 grill, and the $60K 240 leases for about $800. Wish I could afford an M8 GC. But alas, even a new $90K X3M Comp now leases at $1400 (Thank you Janet Yellin). It also gets 10mpg in Sport+ mode. Forget that. I'll buy a house instead.
@@MitchM240 5k down and $619 month including tax for mine. So yes it’s all about the final price of the car you negotiate correctly. If you get reduction of sticker that’s all you need to get the payment you want. People often forget the customer has the advantage at dealerships.
Thanks for sharing this, I have the white one too. Have you think about do anything with the exhaust, I feel it’s much quieter compare to the 2020’s m340i.
White looks great, this is my first non white car in a long time. The exhaust sounds “relatively” the same, but due to the 2022 emission laws the sound has been flattened on all cars with all the resonators etc, I heard a new C63 AMG exhaust the other day (the 4 cylinder🙄) which used to sound like a lion and it sounded like a Honda Civic. There are some owners in the UK that posted vids of their exhaust mods if you search for them on YT. AUTOID, Motech Performance, R44 Performance. They are loud and proper how they should be from factory.
Question, how did you get the latest software installed ? Did you take it to the dealer or download it ? I’m still on the old one, thanks! Nice video by the way. By the way, I also am not a fan of how i8 looks in this car, maybe on the series 7 or X7 it may look better, but based on the pictures I’ve seen (and the new 3 series LCI interior) it just looks tacked on on both, plus you loose the shift leaver.
Need to make a service appt at the dealership. Tell them the latest version is 3/2022 and that your version isn’t showing the M Performance “M240i” logo or font. The dealership is the only one that can install it is not available OTA. They may not be aware of this (my dealership looked at me weird” so have screenshots handy of the new software and they may need to check with the shop foreman. Took them about an hour to do mine.
Beautiful color combo! I’m looking to get M240i xDrive as well. How do you like the xDrive in California weather? I’m also in California and while we don’t need xDrive I do like that it launches hard and there may be some benefit going around corners. You mentioned you had a RWD 235i and an M3, would you say the xDrive is nice to have for performance driving or would have preferred a RWD m240i that weights 120lbs lighter?
Prefer to have xDrive. Much quicker off the line and handling is better around corners. You can really hammer it and stay confident. The weight is negligible for the performance gain.
I am surrounded by BMW's where I live, but I love this one. In white it is a dream too. Shame I have kids.... Can't afford a car with 2 seats in the back.....*sob*
I am going to order mine tomorrow and still cant think which colour to take since there is also the individual pallet. It blows my mind. For EU if you take the tech performance package it puts the bicolor black/chrome wheels, so you cant take the black gloss. In regards to scratches on the skirts and front. You need to put a PPE first thing you do after picking up the car. Also never ever ever take the piano black interior. Never!
Ordered mine in March and still no date. Expect to wait at least 6 months, I don’t care what your dealership tells you. Unless you can get lucky and pick up a 2 series that someone backed out of, it is going to be a long wait.
The black wheels make this car look so good IMO. The rear spoiler was $550 and is the OEM M Performance CF Rear Spoiler. I believe they keep raising the price so best to buy sooner than later. Do not add this as a port installed option you’ll wayyyyy overpay. I got mine from AUTOID as they usually have it in stock.
Unless you want a convertible get an M240. It’s literally the same car in every way and M240 has the same throttle map as an M5 CS so it’s faster all around even with the same B58 engine and no ugly beaver teeth grill. Lighter and less expensive it’s a no brainer.
Have you tried timing 0-60 without launch control? Just wondering how much slower it is with just flooring the car from a standstill without building up revs.
@@M2socal that’s awesome. Thanks for the info. I’m in a wheelchair and my hand controls (getting installed this weekend) disable the gas pedal while the brake pedal is pushed in (for safety), so that disables launch control. Good to know that it’s still plenty fast off the line without it.
Just curious… what size pzeros are on the car? I just picked up my m240i that I found at a dealer. It has the same wheels but terrible all season run flats. Looking at staggered options but wasn’t sure about fitment.
Mine has staggered 225/40 front and 255/35 rears. I believe the all season tire option has 225/40 all around, but could be wrong so check your sidewalls to confirm. There is also a performance non run flat option that puts 245/35 front and 255/35 rear that comes with Mich PS4s, but the front wheels are a bit wider too. Depending on your wheel size you can adjust a bit, ask the shop that installs tires they know all about what you can fit safely.
@@M2socal I appreciate it. If those are the same 19x8 wheels I have then I would imagine I’d be fine. I was trying to figure out whether a 255 would fit on an 8” wide wheel. I’d be interested to know if your door placard lists 19x8’s front and rear.
@@2k5NeonSXT my door placard only lists the tire sizes, not wheel sizes. I would give a call to BMW service or even better ask a tire specialty shop they will know right away.
It’s good that those louvres are closed ever see the radiator and coolers after 50,000 km in Canada. The fins are all smashed over because of bugs and small rocks ice and salt.
I discovered the grills stay open all the time in sport / sport + mode. I realized after a while of driving it, that the heavy feeling is because of the brakes. They aren’t as responsive as they should be so when applying the brakes you can tell it’s heavy because the brakes are inadequate for the car and don’t grip well. I think a lot of people are coming from smaller cars, myself included (Audi S3) and the brakes on that stop on a dime so I think that’s where a lot of the comparison is coming from IMO. I don’t have IG.
Depends on the state, how much you put down, miles allotted, and final price of the car. I’d probably say anywhere between $600-$800 month on a lease if I had to guess. Financing could be all over the place depending on interest rate too which is high at the moment.
That's a pretty good guess $600-800 depending on the down payment, interest rate and persons credit numbers. I am waiting for mine still 4 months not a single update so most likely won't hear about in 2023 (maybe towards end of 2023??) thinking that it will take a god damn year to get built but my current lease is long so I have time. There is far too much delay on so many things. I hope I don't loose interest and go get me a GT2 AWD stinger (going from a RWD GT1 stinger to the m240i xdrive). I test drove both and really enjoyed the m240i and want to get out of the kia world ideally. Surprisingly also the GT2 AWD stinger drive so different from a GT1 RWD but I guess it's to be expected being fully loaded and AWD.

As a non bmw guy, it seems as tho bmw has taken the approach to call all kinds of things Ms. Kinda like everyone uses the term sport, it seems bmw is overusing the M. I would think that badge would be reserved for true M cars.
As a seasoned BMW guy, here is some information…The M240i is an M car and listed in M GmbH global sales figures. The M performance models (M240i etc) are a bit tuned down from the M2, etc. It’s the same as AMG 35 vs 45 cars. Both are AMG cars, but the 35 is tuned down. You are referring to “M Sport”, which has nothing to do with M division and simply a cosmetic package. M division has engineered the M240i B58 engine, chassis, steering , exhaust, throttle mapping, brakes, etc so that’s the difference and why the M badge is actually on the trunk and not the “M sport” package in which they have M all over the interior (not the trunk badge) Most car companies do this including MB and Audi do the same throwing the AMG sport and S line cosmetic packages on their base cars. It’s an appearance thing only and it sells cars so that’s here to stay.

It doesn’t not open when switching to sport+ it is 100% based on engine temperature. It opens when it requires extra cooling. Also driving this around all he time in Sport+?? Damn dude that’s rough for a commute.
I have a 2024 ordered in the same color, except I opted for the red leather. Great video.
Like your review - mine arrived yesterday, picking it up Saturday - same spec as your's only thing that worries me, stepping away from my M3 F80 - well time will tell - thanks
I’ve had an M3 in the past so I can say It won’t be as engaging as your M3, but It’s noticeably faster with xDrive as you’ll discover. Also you can hit a button and be comfortable for daily use and not so harsh constantly or hit another button and drive like a lion. Have fun, let me know your experience. 😎🏁
Looking forward to ur impression comparing both
@@M2socal Didnt have the f80 but had the m340xig20 for some months and while it was very comfortable and safe I didnt get the sportivity I was expecting. So when I test drove the outgoing m2c I was very blown away for the engagement and performance. Not sure it the m240i has improved over m340i but i think the m2c will still be above the m240i anyday.
Recently I have measured 100-200kmh time and suprisingly got 8,7sec. I know the new m240i will only do 9,8-10secs. Of course It will be faster offline bc it iss awd.
@@audiophilemetallian I had an M340i before and I can confirm the M240i handles way better and faster, probably mainly weight distribution and throttle mapping in the M240i is much more responsive. 🏁👍🏻
I ordered mine in March in the UK and don't even have a build slot yet😭 They've told me it's likely to be delivered next April.
I've gone for the same colour which I think looks the best. Yours looks great with the M Spoiler. I'll definitely add that to mine.
Wow that’s such a long wait. 😥 I actually had someone offer me more than my car is worth because they didn’t want to wait.
@@M2socal I would have probably cancelled the order already as I'm not too keen on the iDrive 8, but I managed to save 15% off the retail price. It has crossed my mind to sell it immediately as people over here are also paying more to avoid waiting. So I'm already 15% up plus anything paid on top of the RRP
@@MW_1981 nice! I paid 7k less than MSRP myself. It’s nuts when people pay over MSRP for something that depreciates as soon as you drive it off the lot, but I guess they don’t care about losing money🤷🏼♂️ I know a guy that dropped 15k over sticker for an new RS3…..🤷🏼♂️🤣🤣
@@M2socal Would you be able to share any tips/tricks as to how to save money off the MSRP? I plan on ordering one soon and any information would help! I plan on going to the same dealership in which I bought my current BMW from so that should help a little bit. I'd appreciate your thoughts!
@@Anthony-bc2cw yes the same dealer will help for sure. I got around 5k off MSRP with no market adjustment BS either, so just need to shop around if necessary. Try and go at the end of month too that will give you leverage. Also if the car is on the lot that gives you another advantage vs ordering. Not sure where you are located, but around me some dealers have them on the lot now (but they go quick) just remember to stand your ground, they will play games and make you feel you can’t get money off which is a bunch of BS….if you have a trade that will also help….hope that helps keep me posted🙏🏻
Bmw heard that we hated piano black and that is why they put it all over the exterior as well. They hate the customer.
Great video man. I love the spoiler it's definitely an upgrade I'm going to make. Also, I'm so lucky the car I bought has the aluminum rombicile or whatever they call it and not piano black.
Rear spoiler is a must IMO. The rear doesn’t look quite finished without it.
Man, you are lucky to have the aluminum! Don’t understand why more of them are not speced with it
Trying to decide if I try and cover it up with some Carbon fiber or try get it covered with some protection. You guys have any recommendations?
@jdbsoccer100 they have 3M taped CF overlays around that look really good and good quality.
@@M2socal I appreciate the quick response! I actually came across a few threads on BimmerPost talking about DIY carbon fiber overlays. Think I will give it a shot 🫡
Stuck between a nice spec (purple and red interior) 2022 vs a base black on black 2023. I like the new screen but the shifter being removed kinda throws me off. What would you suggest I get ? Both are same price
Gorgeous car!
Bought mine off the lot and it didn’t come with the Harmon Kardon system. The base hifi system just clears the ‘OK’ bar, but I’m always wanting more volume and more bass. Hoping for an aftermarket solution soon
Bavsound has a plug and play option. Its under the M2 on their website. I'm probably going to go with a kit from them.
@@M2socal honestly I like the sunroof but they should’ve fitted one to the car not take an existing one and just throw it in there
Agree
yeah the gloss black accessories is better if it has body paint color especially the side skirt
Good video! Did you lease or buy the car? I’ve talked with people that have done both. I’ve never owned a BMW. Your thoughts.
What are you thought of the 230? i know its slower than the 240 but it lighter and steering feels more lighter.
The M240i is the best performance car you can get for the money for sure, you’ll enjoy it.
Yes, it is a great deal to buy however you are in fantasy land if you think. You can lease one for $800, yeah maybe if you put down like $5K.
@@MitchM240 5k down and $619 month including tax for mine. So yes it’s all about the final price of the car you negotiate correctly. If you get reduction of sticker that’s all you need to get the payment you want. People often forget the customer has the advantage at dealerships.
had my car now a few months, my biggest complaint is its WAY to heavy!!! also its on center feel sucks
@@M2socal yeah I agree, but the new 4 cylinder amg is a joke 😂

@@M2socal thanks, I’ll get in touch with my dealership tomorrow!

@@M2socal much appreciated, thank you for the feedback. I’ll be sticking with the xDrive then.
Never!
Cant order a individual color for the 2 Series sadly.
Just wrap it😎
Ordered mine in March and still no date. Expect to wait at least 6 months, I don’t care what your dealership tells you. Unless you can get lucky and pick up a 2 series that someone backed out of, it is going to be a long wait.

Isn't the left one is the intercooler for the air and not oil cooler? (from the front, from inside the right one)
The intercooler is the middle. The 2 oil coolers are in each intake.
i ordered a 2022 on January 3rd I am now rec a 2023 the order is in but not being built yet, I hope to have the car before its a 2024 LOL
just got a call today, car is being built!!! YAY!!!!
Finally 🙏🏻
The new M2 is out and it weighs 3,825 in auto, so no, it’s not a lighter car.
Really like the rear spoiler! Cost? And black wheels look much better in person than on the BMW build website
@@M2socal How difficult was it to install the new spoiler?
Super easy
Thanks for the informative video I want your opinion either to get m240 or m440 if I don’t care about the rear seats
With launch control I got 3.6 seconds, without using it it’s just under 4 seconds so it’s still plenty fast.
Got mine in November 2021. 22k miles now. I don’t think it feels as heavy as everyone goes on about. I wish the grills were open too. Do you have IG?
I discovered the grills stay open all the time in sport / sport + mode. I realized after a while of driving it, that the heavy feeling is because of the brakes. They aren’t as responsive as they should be so when applying the brakes you can tell it’s heavy because the brakes are inadequate for the car and don’t grip well. I think a lot of people are coming from smaller cars, myself included (Audi S3) and the brakes on that stop on a dime so I think that’s where a lot of the comparison is coming from IMO. I don’t have IG.
What’s the average monthly payment for this car?
I’ve seen several around at socal dealers you may want to check around to get one now.
About $900 with high 4% APR for 5 years and normal downpayment
black wheels lose the detail so avoid and the back spoiler only looks good from side view.
how is M2 going to be lighter? M2 engine alone is way heavier, no to mention bigger wheels, tires, brakes. Only optional CF roof is lighter.
Only 57 lbs lighter than the M240 so not much at all.
Which Audi RS car/s did you own before this?
RS5 / RS3

@@M2socal i got it. So the M is now likethe S and Amg of audi and benz. Understood. Like i said, auto companies are over using their supposed premium models to sell lesser cars under some premium badges which mean less and less every year. Thanks for clarifying!!
Sensatec :(
Honestly, don't knock it till you feel it in person. It's actually softer than the vernasca leather and perforated. I still got the upgraded leather for the lumbar support and side bolsters, but I didn't hate sensatec.
