***EXPOSE TRIVIA TIME!!** ...If you DON'T know what you know, what DO you know!? (5:28)......
    - ..this tune, was the title track for the 2nd 'real' Expose (Summer 1989) Album....this was when Jeanette, Gioia & Ann did ALL THE VOCALS, and showed that they were a singing Trio, who can work well together, and have Hits...........then, came the DRAMA........
    - ....Jeanette (the long, curly haired One) was supposed to sing lead on this tune, but she was fighting with Producer Lewis A. Martinee for more money, as the 'lead'.....SO, she pulled a 'Chrissy', and stopped showing up for sessions to complete the Album.....
    - ...Lewis got mad, and just gave the tunes to GIOIA (the Brunette), including this tune (4:52), showing that Jeanette can be replaced...; THEN an article in "SPIN" Magazine, 'exposed' the real truth about the Girls' drama, and put a spotlight on the Album...... (6:14) ...Jeanette gave in, showed up, and the Album got finished....
    - ....Thankfully, this tune was a rousing success (#8 Pop / #2 Dance, July 1989), and the Album went Gold, and they had 4 more Hits...
When I Looked At Him (#10 Pop / #3 AC)
Stop Look Listen Think (#19 Dance)
Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue (#18 Pop / #9 AC)
Tell Me Why (#3 Dance / #9 Pop)
...and they became the FIRST Girl Group whose first EIGHT tunes went Top Ten Pop....and they STILL hold the record! ...that's what you NOW know......(6:09) .... ; )

From hearing this I think that Expose was following the Madonna Blueprint. Their first album and songs had a more street and grittier sound, this one seems more polished and pop oriented. Still a good song.

I've known Gioia (the girl with the short dark hair) for years... I met her in 2001 and she's a sweet lady...I've seen Expose perform multiple times over the years and whenever Gioia sees me she always says hi

I loved it when it came out, but now for me it's alright. Still like the horn break down as the song moves into the second verse. Good observation about lead singer Gioia singing in a higher key than she did on Let Me be the One. Two years later she developed nodules in her throat and she could no longer sing so had to leave the group and was replaced for the group's third and final album. Fortunately Gioia overcame this and was able to sing again and she performs with Ann and Jeanette as Expose on the 80s and Freestyle oldies circuit shows.

I enjoyed their first album, less the later albums. I think the first album's sound was popping, it was freestyle! The second album seemed to mellow out the freestyle sound into something more commercially generic and palatable, more like regular 80's dance-pop.

Yeah, the second album has Clive Davis all over it. Same with the third though I liked that one as freestyle was out by then so it was good to see Expose go in some different directions and the songs gave them a chance to show their vocals, especially the new trio and Ann getting more leads.

This one has grown on me over the years, but yes - it's definitely nowhere near Let Me Be The One, or any of the singles from their first album. I think that's what kind of ruined this second album for me - even though the songs are good, the songs on the first album are just off the charts good, it couldn't compare.

I don't love it, but I find it tolerable, and I like the lead singer's bold, pointed tone. My biggest issue with the song is that the drum beat is too loud and overpowering. I tend to enjoy the big drum sound of the 80s, but this one was a bit too much, especially paired with those horns. It's okay, though. It's actually on my playlist, so I like it well enough, but it's not my absolute favorite.
