PHENOMENAL job on the restoration. The FOX was supposed my very first RC kit. It turned out that I bought the HOT SHOT instead. I picked up the NOVA FOX a couple of years ago. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks John. How does one buy the Hotshot by mistake? I hope you paid the Fox price though, bargain! I think I'll also grab a Novafox for running. Great looking buggies. 🙂👍
@@outbackrcaustralia4895 Well I mean, I'm pretty sure I'll win. I haven't bought a ticket for over 10 years but I'm sure they'll overlook that minor detail 😂. Maybe don't cancel the order just yet. 😂
Thanks Eric. Oh yeah, I bought the wheels back when the Novafox was first released, getting harder to find now. Yeah, those sticker are trying to peel off. They weren't so bad till I cleaned it up for the video, I should have heated and stuck them down again but I got lazy. 😂👍
I still have my original from 1987 and bought a new built fox which has never been run from ebay a few months ago.I have ordered a novafox to build as well, great buggy.
Thanks mate! I'm pretty happy with it. Will come check out your latest videos, sorry I've been a bit busy (and lazy lol) so haven't been for a look recently. 🙂👍
Looks awesome!! I love when a car has a 2nd bite of the cherry! Great job Mick! I remember going from the fantastic Frog to the Fox on my local track back in the day and wow what a step up in performance l could not believe how good the Fox was compared to my Frog that l really loved don't get me wrong! But wow went from fighting in the C final with my Frog to winning the B final with my Fox! Iol then came along my Boomerang and the A final!! Hehe😉👍that's a hint!
Thanks mate! Oh yeah they're quite an improvement over the Frog, still gotta love the Frog though. That's awesome, I've never raced (due to living 100's of Km's from any track) but it's always good to hear other peoples experiences in racing. The Fox did well for you! Hmm A final with a Boomerang, while that's awesome I don't get the hint, sorry. lol... I'll keep thinking about it now, thanks! 🤣👍

@@jennyetherington3326 I may end up changing these decals to MCI as they're not sticking very well. I've had them around 20 years, just found another new set the other day that I forgot I had. But they probably won't stick well either. 😭
@@RCHobbyShed the Mci I've seen look good.. Originals probably have lost the glue i should think! Mind my Re Re Tamiya Hornet the decals were terrible and lifted as soon as i put them on.
@@jennyetherington3326 Oh yeah, MCI decals are great. I've been using them for many years now. We'd be lost in the resto world without MCI and TBG. Yeah you're right, the glue is just to old. I might try some Tamiya Decals adhesive on the few that are lifting. 👍

Beautiful! Those wheels really set off the Novafox!!
Great work came up fantastic. Awesome Tamiya buggy
Super Resto Mick! 👍🤓
Better than a new one 🤩
Thanks Paul. Yeah I'm pretty happy with it. 👍
That is a sensational restoration.. never owned a fox but want one.. definitely one of the sexiest RC cars back in the day and still now I think 🤔
Thanks Jason! Oh yeah, they're a real nice looking buggy. 👍
Beautiful restoration on an awesome classic Tamiya buggy! Loved the video. 👍🏻
Thank you! It's a classic for sure, love the Fox. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂👍

@@RCHobbyShed better kit. The hobby store at the time had packaged deals, kit battery, chager, radio, servo and receiver. And it was 4 wheel drive.
@@johnband3 I remember those package deals. Oh yeah, the Hotshot was the buggy to have at the time. I think you did well in that deal. 👍
@@RCHobbyShed still have it. Be safe!
Really very beautiful Tamiya Fox, these rims give it a great look, excellent video.
Thanks mate. I've always loved the Fox, took me about 30 years to get one lol. For sure, the wheels really make it complete. 🙂👍

Had one of these when they came out back in the 80’s, I loved this car, it looks great 👍🏻

They are a cool looking buggy. Thanks Jacen! 🙂👍
I like these , after seeing this I want one of these to. You did a top job on this one to mate. .
Haha, well the Novafox has been released again. It's the re-release of the Fox but with a name change. Thanks mate! 👍
Super nice resto it looks better than new. I found Apple cider vinegar gets rid of rust really well. I just restored an old nitro buggy I have.

Glad to see you doing video’s again. 👍
Thanks Eric. I think an alloy chassis would be cool, I say go for it! Thanks mate, great to be back at it. 🙂👍
Is there shock limiters in the shock bodies like on the nova fox ?
Hi Robert. I couldn't remember so I checked the manual. So no there isn't any of the spacers inside that the Novafox has. 👍
Is the Fox.....better than the Frog?
The Frog and Fox are quite different animals. The short answer is, yes. Among other things, the Fox has far better suspension design.👍
Are they Mci decals Mick?
No Jenny, the body and decals are genuine Tamiya I had stashed away for many years. 👍
