They should keep it as it is and just clean it up and make an 80s-themed fast food/diner style restaurant. I'd go there.
You would go out of your way for a burger king?
@@nb7466 Say what?
@@The_Gallowglass you said you would go there and I that. Who would go out of there way to goto burger king.
@@nb7466 First of all it wouldn't be a burger king, it would be an amalgamation of fast food/diner but 80s aesthetic. Second of all I like Burger King. At least the burgers taste like burgers. Mcdonalds tastes like sugar.
@@The_Gallowglass I don't know my stomachs never happy after I eat burger king and I don't want to go to one unless it has n64s on screens and a ball pit lol
Where did they hire that guy reporting😭😭😭😭
They found him living there

He's real crackish
He was the last employee of that Burger King.
Exactly what I thought, dude looks high ass shit 👀🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude reporting is a trip... 😂
Glad somebody commented this. How much cocaine do you have to take to do a report about the old Burger King at the mall?? God damn lmao
@@shofla was thinking the same thing! 😂
@@shofla i was thinking same thing and went to the comments and this was the first one lol
Duran Duran!!!
he's great though haha
Just did some quick research. This restaurant opened in 1987 and closed in 2009.
That Sprite Logo is a clue, since it's from 2006-2008
I was thinking the same thing. 80's would look much different.
@@chrismanson3211 It’s hilarious how 3 replies in this comment thread did more journalistic research than the reporters did on this story. Who says American journalism is dead?
@lenforstell1139 Dude I noticed that right away.. Even the color of the menu boards 🤣🤣.. It's hilarious to me🤣🤣🤣
It's not 1982, opened in 1987 and probably closed around 2009 so yes it's super vintage but it didn't close when it opened is how dumb they make it sound lol. The Burger King that used to be in Maple Hts OH opened in 87 also according to my Dad and it had this decor till it closed in 2011, meaning it looked 1987 till it's end lol. But this one in the mall they found is a perfect relic that stood up well and can be used as a set for a timed scene easily!
How much coke did this guy rip before this😂
r/tooktoomuch
Duran Duran, flock of seagulls, Duran Duran 😆😆😆
Or meth.
I was thinking weed.
@@johniii8147 definitely NOT weed lol
Clearly from the soda fountain this place was in operation in the early 2000's. They're acting like they just uncovered Pompeii 😄
Judging by that Sprite logo, it may had stopped operating some time between in the late 2000’s through 2010 (or 2011?).
Definitely circa 2000. However, the decor was still from the late 80’s/early 90’s. I know a Taco Bell that looked like this until 4-5 years ago.
Couldnt have been too long ago. I mean I remember burger King looking like this before their remodel a few years back... like 10 years ago?
Yeah they breezed past that real fast. Saw a Brisk iced tea on 1. Pretty sure that wasn't available in the 80s. I think I saw a mountain dew code red too?
😂😂😂😂
The reporter is like 90's era Tom Arnold.
If Tom Arnold and Michael Biehn did a fusion dance
I thought the reporter was drunk at first. Still not quite sure. Good stuff tho
Yikes! 😂
@@hewhohasnoidentity4377 nah he's got ADHD to the max probs
It was open as recently as 2012. It hasn't been "closed since the 80's". And that BK interior design is from the late 90's, not the 80's.
The decor was cheap and ugly in both decades.
I ate at this Burger King many times. The last time I remember it being open was the early 2000s. While it may not have been updated since the 80s, it def was open 20 years ago. I was there.
I was wondering why the walls and everything didn't really look in bad shape. Wouldn't surprise me if they closed it in the mid 2000s honestly. If it were closed in the early 80s I'd expect it to look MUCH more run down.
Thanks, for letting us know! I already made a similar comment based on the design of the soda labels.
The only “Whopper” left in that place was that rock this guy smoked 5 min before going on air.😳
@@crystalwater505 Yeah, if I had the capital I'd buy it and make an 80s-themed fast foot joint. Burgers, fries, soda, ice cream/shakes. Keep it simple. Maybe breakfast menu too.
@@The_Gallowglass That sounds like a really good plan!
I used to eat there with my sister when we were kids. I can confirm nothing has changed.
Is the reporter tripping? wow the guy is on something, hitting evrything, 100 miles per hour.. come on

If you look at the soda machine you will see that the stickers are new logos so they were still operating that place recently.
Someone said they saw a date of 2008 so yeah lol
yeah it closed down in 2009
@@matthewreed1078 The reporter wants to make it look like it was not in use since the 80s smh
At around 2:15, the camera hones in on the Heat Chute Chart, you can see a date of Monday, December 1, 2008 in the upper right-hand corner, so it looks like this particular Burger King was open until at least then.
I was gonna say, the stickers on the foundtan soda machine are definitely late 90s/early 2000s Era.
I was going to say. The sprite label is from the mid 2000s
@@Ducking_Fustin That dr pepper logo is from at least 2005
They never remodeled
Those idiots actually thought it had been shuttered since 1982? Really?
This reporter helped himself to some "80s" prior to the taping hahaha
That abandoned Burger King is quite a classic from way back when. My, how times have changed over the years!
Well, it was before the 2010's restaurant box model remodels every chain started to do. So this is cool atleast.
I love that reporters energy 😂 bring him back
I think he's stoned.
I think it took him back to when growing up eating BK
Part of me feels like we're in a completely different universe, and that Burger King is the only evidence we have that the era is over.
Research the Mandela Effect sometime.
I blame cell phones (not just "smartphones" - people have stopped being human in the past 20+ years...
@@nyccollin I have it is certainly pointing to a different timeline.
This guy thinks the only thing else to come out of the 80's besides saved by the bell artwork was Duran Duran and somehow he equates them to being similar. His manic excitement is fascinating.
I grew up 15 to 20 mins from that mall I ate and that burger king they closed it in 2009 but it was in operation since the 80s when it was built up in till 2009 when they shut it down I forget why they did but when it was open it was jumping there food was good the staff was very friendly I have so many memories of that place I was in high school when it was still open me and my friends always use to meet up there on a Friday or Saturday night grab a bit to eat sit and talk no cellphone no text no apps etc etc how I miss that era of life times were so much simpler it's the last peace of my childhood memories I have I remember were me and my friends sat all the time there it sucks they wanna tear it down it should be considered a land mark hell if they gave tours you make a killing.
😢
Hit the Space Port for a quick game of Galaga.
I love this reporter and how he's tweaking out
This exact burger king setup was in Crossroads mall in San Antonio, on one side was a woolworths and the other a bookstore. I used to eat there around 1989.
This guy is hilarious on his reporting! lol Reminds me of some guys I used to work with from Santa Cruz, CA
A prefect example why a reporter should not drink while on the job!
I really miss the old Taco Bell interiors. They were pretty similar in design.
I was just thinking the same thing! A couple of them near me looked like this until 2017!
Man I wanna fire that kitchen up and start serving Whoppers! I worked for BK in the 90s when I was in HS and college (in Indiana). This is nearly the same layout and equipment of my store. Everything looks to be in great shape for the age and time spent sealed up.
I worked at a Burger King in the 80's, during college. It was in Neenah, WI. All the stuff in this kitchen here looks exactly as I remember it! 😊
back boards, front boards, broiler or specialty - didn't matter as long as you weren't on fries or front counter ;-)
I bet I could still make a whopper in about 8 seconds....
Bruh, they just hiring anyone 😂
Any meth head
He reminds me of The Big Lebowski
I was born when they made that onion ring.
xD!!!
Unless you were born in 2009, you weren’t born when they made that. Place was still open in 2009
There is no way that burger king is from 40 years ago. The labels on the soda machine are from like the late 1990’s-early 2000’s.
the interior looks very early - mid 90’s. Not really 80s
@@Tuhueleamierda1991 the wall paper and brass work along with (some) of the tables and chairs were part of the decor in the mid to late 80's (booth vinyl color) - most corporate stores remodeled in the late 90's - apparently this wasn't a corporate store and closed in 2009 - there was likely a half hearted attempt to "update" in the years prior to it closing...
I have eaten at that burger King numerous times in my youth

This reporter is a treasure
This is how Burger King still needs to be set up, with the Flame Broiler at the start of the prep line
It's not now? I've seen in some videos they have some weird oven thingy in between the broiler and boards (prep line)...
Bring it back to life!
Would be awesome though I don't know if they could find anyone wanting to actually _work_ these days...
This reporter is awesome
They try to make it sound like this BK has been shuttered since the 80"s. Which isn't the case. I lived in the area from the early 2000's to the mid 2000's and this BK was still in operation then.
Looking at the logos on the drink dispensers, this place closed a lot more recently than the 1980's. Still cool though.
the anchor in the beginning sounded so bothered that they had to report on this
Burger King corporate should really lease it again and reopen it as an 80's themed location, even down to reprinting the 80's themed paper bags and burger wrappers, and uniforms too! Would be a fun nostalgia themed trip, I bet they'd have enough business to make it viable, but a franchisee won't have the funds to go as far as reprinting old designs of paper goods, would have to be a corporate venture.
It was open until 2009
This is the coolest reporting about a Burger King, that I’ve ever heard in my entire life
The reporter is next level 😂 he looks like a who from the Grinch stole Christmas
HANK .YOU NEED TO CHECK THAT REGISTER. BECAUSE I NEED MY MONEY .
I WANT TO GO PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THAT PLACE ! 😭😍😍😍
The Burger King near me went out of business a while ago. I remember going to it when I was in middle school. The Burger King building now is still standing but there’s weeds (plants 🌱) growing around it and the building looks shambles. No one has touched that building since, is the Burger King chain going out of business around the world? Let me know what the Burger King looks like where you are.
Look up the Burger King on Governors island, NY. The island is no longer a military base but it was the ONLY BK to sell pizza , burgers and beer. I used to live on the island in the 80's.
Well, it may have been abandoned for some years, but somebody is certainly maintaining it, or it would be thick with dust/grease etc.
....and that would be different than an operating BK how?
Probably would make the best burgers there with those vintage flame broilers.
I like Hank's reporting style
From the looks of the soda logos, this place looks like it was still open in the 2000s.
Nowadays every single fast food place that gets a new popup looks like the inside of a hospital.
This guy is def on something though, not that I can hate him for it though because he's probably just going on a trip.
Burger King should reopen that location immediately...I'd LOVE going there.
How much coke did that guy snort before the cameras started rolling 🤣💀
It's definitely bigger than most fast food restaurants of today
people generally "avoid" eating in at fast food places for whatever reason - stores also downsize the dining rooms so there's more room for a second drive through lane.
@Scotty in Ohio I have long since quit eating fast food, but youre right...I haven't seen a fast food restaurant this big probably since the early 2000s
I was on vacation in 2012 for a week and ate there several times.
This had to of closed up in the late 90s early 2000s from the looks of the stickers on the foundtan soda machine. That sprite logo is definitely 90s Era.
In addition to that, Burger King had those signs on the trash cans in the mid/late 2000s (And definitely not in the 1980s) at 1:18 that say "Toss it in Drop it in Slide it on off the tray just get your trash in here some way" So this definitely all isn't from the 1980s
Right, plus they had coke instead of pepsi. Pepsi was served in the 80s. They stared serving Coke in 1990. So closed down 1990s or later.
@@misterclownface It closed in 2009. I ate here many times in the 2000s.
this looks very similar to the Burger King across town before the first renovation in the early 90s. Very retro look that that they had back then. Then they updated it and it changed sometime after about 1993ish or so and it was much more modern.
I ate at this Burger King back in the 90s, at least once or twice. I grew up just over the Delaware line in Kennett Square, PA. The Concord Mall was the mall for me growing up. I wish the old Arcade was still intact. Spent a butt load of quarters in that place.
I haven't been in Concord Mall for years, I live in NYC now, but they used to have a pet store that I would make sure I cruised past with a date so she could oh and ah at the cute puppies.
Space Port.
@@tunafang Yes. Didn't they have one at the Exton Mall also. I think Granite Run had Aladdin's Castle.
@@richardgazinia5482 Not sure about Exton, but yeah, Granite Run had Aladdin's Castle.
There's an old Burger King in Northridge, CA on Reseda Blvd. I haven't been there in a couple years, but the last time I went it looked kind of like that. Some franchises for one reason or another just don't remodel.
Ah yes, the same city where they filmed a good chunk of T2
In my experience here in eastern Massachusetts, it seems like Burger King is somewhat behind places like McDonalds or Wendy's when it comes to updating their decor. I know of some Burger Kings that still have that brick like flooring.
Oh yeah, I remember the gold bars, the chairs, the brick floors. New ones are great too, but this takes me back!
That brasswork was a pain to polish - those chairs looked like crap about a month after they were new....
I love that reporter.
hey wait i know you, your that guy who makes them elevator videos
I worked for KB Toys from 1996-1999. My store was at Christiana Mall. Around 1999, the Christiana store temporarily closed for remodel and I went up to the KB in Concord Mall. I went to this Burger King for lunch several times while temporarily working at that mall. Not sure how far into this century it made it to but it was open and pretty active in 1999.
This guy is channeling his inner Bruce Almighty
I worked for BK back in the 80's - that's exactly as the store I worked in looked (layout was a bit different) - I used to HATE polishing the brass rails - I wouldn't surprised if there was a can of Brasso in the back... If I remember correctly where the "artwork" was those could be replaced with posters of whatever was new like "Burger Buddies" or the new "Chicken Tenders" (my favorite).
The reporter is giving me”Tweaking on cocaine”vibes…🤣🤣
Omg passed this every week never knew
Dude I live in a very backward hick part of New York state and places looked like this around here until like 5-10 years ago.. come to think of it I think Wendy's still might..
So many childhood memories there. Also this was more early 2000s/late 1990s than 1980s
This is probably the only burger king where you still have a chance of getting decent, tasty food in 2023
Awesome. It's a thing of beauty already to come alive again. Like Falconia.
This is a news channel?! 😆 They are so unorganized and jumpy!
He sounded so bummed out when they disrupted his fryer bit.
Oh look, a vintage death food restaurant.
the reporter is funny AF, this dude is a legend
That looks like every Shipley donut place here in Houston. 40 year old decor to save a penny. The local Burger King looked the same, until it closes 2 years ago.
"I will eat that on the air." subbed for this future video

It's identical to the Burger King I worked in when I was a kid. the only difference we had a drive-thru, and a playground.
The office and everything else is identical.
Tulsa Oklahoma.
61st and Garnett.
I was just in this mall and had no idea
On the border of Brooklyn and Queens in the gentrifying neighborhood of Bushwick, there's a vintage Burger King on Myrtle Ave near the L/M Myrtle subway stop. It's highly thematic with a similar theme to this video with cars you can dine in and sunbleached posters of 1990s Hollywood stars and their bios, it appears to be a Hollywood themed BK restaurant.
Scary part is that the fried onion ring looks fresh.
If they ruin that space with another store I'm going to be 😡they could just keep that space for memory and I guarantee it will be a big hit to take a trip back in time like WOW
yeah, for like 3 months
@@Dannybythebanana According to a Delaware Public article, the owner of Concord Mall is in talks with BK to revive the site.
I think that’s 90’s BK , the soda fountains are the tell, and no way that onion ring is 40 years old, if so BK uses a lot of preservatives lol
Free refills didn’t even become common until about 1989/1990. The fountains were behind the counter before that.
The flip ook thing the camera man zoomed in on clearly shows Monday October 2008 on the top right. So it's been closed since then. Not closed since 1983.
Need to go back to these styles and the way things were. They would make more money just on nostalgia alone.
The ceiling fan has been running for 40 years.
True story..
Neat "time capsule" they found! It would be cool to do an 80's themed restaurant - maybe add in a "Stranger Things" vibe to it...
it closed in 2012... its not retro.
Dude the BK by my house. Still looked like this like five years ago.

The sprite logo on the soda machine was in use from 2006 to 2008 so it definitely wasn’t closed up in the 80s. Probably during the recession in 2008.
