I love this type of cars, don't care about what people say, I just want something that can take me to and back from where ever I want cheaply and easily.
With the average number of people in a car being 1.5 we really only need bigger cars sporadically. If everyone had cars this size- traffic would be better, local pollution reduced, parking easier, and save a huge amount of money. Cars this size should be mandatory in cities.
It's a real shame here in the US. I've road tripped multiple small cars and never asked for more. And just like he says at 22:40ish, "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast 90 percent of the time, than to drive a fast car slow 90 percent of the time".
I love this little car, its a travelling worker's friend! The storage and versatility in this car is second to none( a under seat storage removable basket!)the front seat has a cupholder on the back for crying out loud, you cannot beat that. Im mad though that alot of this stuff doesnt find its way into their larger family cars like the XL7 and Ertiga.
Genuinely one of the best car reviews I've ever watched. Excellet job! I wish we had cars like this in America, they're so quirky and cool unlike basically every SUV and crossover everyone seems to have.
I'm in Australia, I have had 3 Kei cars plus a Steyr haflinger which was even smaller. My first was a Honda acty which we took everywhere, second was a Daihatsu move, the third which I still have is a Mitsubishi minicab minicab miev EV. All have been fun economical and have far more space inside than they should have. Kei cars rule.
as a car enthusiast, I hold kei cars in a very special place in my heart, theyre brilliant, fun (if you're not used to seeing one everyday probably), and practical. It's always a treat to see one on my roads. It's nice that I get the opportunity to see them, but Its unfortunate that the government has implied heavy taxes on import vehicles so they're pretty expensive to buy one here which basically defeats the purpose of these cars. its a huge shame
I just got myself a Kei truck in NC, 8k was a bit much for asking for a 1995 but it was new looking with 12k miles from Japan. Hopefully it was worth the price and last me for what I need it for since I normally bike ride everywhere. It still seems to be better priced than most trucks by a fair amount for low miles. The prices of these are going up because everyone is buying them up. People really want smaller vehicles, who would have thought? Our phones get smaller and smaller but vehicles bigger and bigger, silly isn't it. I'm hoping people start to see that we want these smaller vehicles at a better price for city use that they might do less tax and new laws to bring them here to help with the way things are for the US. Not every city has room for all these big trucks/SUV's that can't even fit in a parking space, and not every person has a need for a "full-time" truck or vehicle and wants something small and cheap for when needed they have it. Most that buy the Kei trucks are also ok with super basic vehicles and prefer that to keep the cost of repairs down, sometimes simple is the best when it comes to lasting long while keeping the price down.

Large person (tall not round) who really likes small cars here. I so wish Suzuki had stayed in the US market and had given us a few of these K cars. Small car list I proudly 'wore' to the gas station or trips across the US; 1984 Mazda RX7 (carbureted), 87 Samurai, 2004 Mini Cooper Base (suspension, sticky tires, better spark) and multiple Honda Civics. The list goes on. I look like I should be falling out of a lifted full size truck....but I'd take something like this over a giant bro-dozer any day of the week. Next on the list, Mazda 2 in manual. Good video quality and comment too. Good job.
I feel like if more cars like this were available in the states, it could encourage more people to buy a car (and increase workman productivity) , and hopefully eventually buy another pleasure car.
Thanks for the great video! I owned a light blue Hustler in Japan for 7 years. His commentary was accurate and as a Hustler lover I was very pleased. It is a car that requires courage to drive at speeds over 100 km/h, but is very comfortable for slow driving in town. Incidentally, the LED above the speedometer indicates eco-friendly driving when green, not-so-eco-friendly driving when blue and charging the battery when white.
I bought a 2019 model about 6 weeks ago. It's a 9/10 for me. The economy is crazy . The only thing missing from this is the highway drive. It does start to struggle after 90 km speed. So much fun to drive in the city. I only wish it was a 1.0 litre engine. It would have been worth the fuel consumption sacrifice but still it's worth every penny
Glad you’re enjoying the car! Have you tried the turboed version? I recently had a go in it and it’s surprisingly much more capable on the highway in terms of power! It’s by no means fast, but I found it fast _enough_ for 110kph roads.
@@Papa_POV I did but it was out of my price range ( nearly 2000 euros more expensive) and the colors weren't my taste. Also it's a very rare car to find this car in general. Probably like 4-5 in the whole country
I hired a Daihatsu Move while I was on vacation on Tanegashima in Japan, it was such a good car for me and the roads. I'm 6'2" with short legs and a long torso so the cramped footwell wasn't so much an issue and the high roof made it feel roomy. It was slow AF but it was pleasant to drive, I'd have one as a second car in the UK for sure.
Kei-level cars may not be able to thrive like non-kei sub1000cc cars (alto, wigo) since ph people wants power to bring heavy stuff around. Spresso by suzuki ressembles this though

You're lucky if you got a RWD one, turn the traction control off and you'll know what these van's are capable.
It sure looks fun to drive in city traffic. 600cc kind of explains that. But it gives economy of 16kmpl as you say (time 15.50) that's kinda low for mild hybrid. I use to drive TATA NANO which had 650cc engine without auto start stop or hybrid use to give me 15 kmpl in city and decent 18 kmpl on highways with top speed of 100km/h on highway. Now I drive a Suzuki Wagon r non hybrid 1 liter 4 cylinder with auto start stop, which gives above 17kmpl in city. And 24kmpl on highway if I cruise just bellow 100kmh speed and around 21 kmpl if I cruise above 100kmh. Edit :: I'm 6feet3 and 93 kgs, I fit well in both the cars even if they're K cars.
Cracking car, we need this in the UK with the turbo Cappucino engine. Beautifully practical and fun too at a great price. All cars should be like this and drivers might smile a bit more... Fun review.
If this would be sold in Germany, I would buy it right away! I just need a little motor for getting around together with my two dogs. And a 4x4? Yes! I have been looking at the Suzuki Ignis 4x4 which is a cute and little, and very peculiar wee car. Love it! Your enthusiasm is awesome! Keep it up! This video was very entertaining to watch! We’re just extremely fortunate to have almost no restrictions on RHD imports. As a result, kei cars and other JDM vehicles are so popular here.
if only kei cars were available world wide. let those who need a big ass car get one, and if we just want a nice little commuter then we should have a kei car. problem is safety i guess, with hummers and f150's out there, you don't want to collide with one of those while in a kei car. but safety aside, these are really nice and are what most people really need on a daily basis. the right tool for the job.
This reminds me of the Mk 1 Matiz, marketed by Daewoo then grabbed and ruined by GM by spoiling the natural self limits of the original concept. The last batch of the Mk 1 incorporated ABS to be compliant and had air bags too. As long as a basic car passes safety tests it does not need luxury and toys. Here in the 'west' we have forgotten the freedom of less is more and that a motor car should be understood (up to a point) by drivers. Ordinary journey preparation/maintenance has all but disappeared yet the irony is that independent mobility for the masses began in the USA and in post WW2 Europe. In essence, that means that modern, over expensive cars that we buy are not actually finished products. We do not own them and manufacturers own us.
This type of car is really good for person who lives in big city. As a korean I also prefer that type of car too. I think it will be popular if it release in south-east asia country like vietnam.

This type of car is really good for person who lives in big city. As a korean I also prefer that type of car too. I think it will be popular if it release in south-east asia country like vietnam.
Agreed!
The 2000s came and they asked to give them back their car designs. If you squint really hard, it looked like a baby hummer from afar. 😂
Would be good for holiday runaround especially in Europe

Thanks!
And I am! I’m ethnically Filipino but I grew up in HK.
@@Papa_POV ayos! my feeling served me well hahaha
This looks like an awesome little car! I'd buy this if they sold it in Europe. Also great video!

It's a car for Japan, where roads are narrow and long distance travel is rare. Road noise and slow speed make me feel the disadvantages are greater.
Great video! I'd love to see you cover the Honda Element.
Thanks! I’d love to review that if ever I visit the US. We don’t get those here in HK sadly.
Its so crazy I feel like im just watching Doug DeMuro
Except this guy isn't arrogant.
With the 4x4 option, it's a great car. I really like .
