@@mariodorder322 no the new fob won't give you remote start. His does because he installed a remote start kit wich plugs into the computer he has a video on this. None of the stock full size GM trucks from 99 to 07 had remote start it was introduced in late 07 with the new body style.

Got my new 2020 fob in and it works great! For those having issues programming in 99-07 truck/SUV, there are actually 2 ways to enter programming mode. In some vehicles, turning ignition on/off/on/off will result in locks cycling, but the truck wont actually program any fobs. You need to turn ignition from Run/Accessory/Run/Accessory. Locks will cycle, hold both buttons on fob down for 15 seconds, locks will cycle again. Turn ignition to Run, then off, truck will chirp to exit programming mode. This was done in my 2003 Silverado 2500HD.
I have an 06 Escalade with aftermarket remote start so that old broken fob is all I was told I could use... ugh . Any knowledge on that?
@@Tia_kittygrrr do you use the factory fob or an aftermarket fob that came with the remote start kit? If it's factory fob, then the remote start kit is just looking for a lock pattern (usually either lock>unlock>lock like Matt's Tahoe, or lock x 3) and you can use any fob that will transmit to your Escalade, like these new style ones from Boost Auto. If this is the case, I highly suggest the 2020 style fob. I absolutely love it compared to the junky factory fobs our vehicles came with.
I want your Yukon. Mine is my only vehicle without a sunroof. We don't use ours enough to invest in the newer fobs (bought to pull a travel trailer) but my pleasure is in showing my wife that I can do some electronic things competently. I followed your instructions and it work like electronic magic..

Thanks for this video. I ordered the fob for my 2007 Silverado. It works great. I used your code to purchase. I left them a 5 star review but I did mention that they needed to give instructions with the fob. I had to come back to your vid to learn how to program it. Which is not a problem. Thanks again.
I love this little upgrade idea! however i may be selling my 03 suburban some kid t boned me and was not insured. i got the truck nice and fixed up for cheap but the door they iinstalled just doesnt sit right and my wife wants a fuel efficient suv so i may be parting ways with my baby. I'll always stay subscribed so i can reminisce on when i had mine.
I'm going to get one of this. Seem like a good time to replace the original key fobs on my 06 Silverado. Hopefully they last as long as the originals.

Boost key fob chrome came off mine, for some reason the panic button was super easy to trip/hit. But otherwise still works.
Had mine about 2 yrs or so and it’s help up fine minus the lock and unlock print

For the record, they offer a option with remote start for the later models but those require scan tool programing.

@@mariahpotter2848 you don't, because that's not a later model. gmt800's still route starter relay power through the ignition, the "old school" way. Only tip-to-start or push-to-start vehicles have remote start capabilities from the factory, since the ECU sends a signal to the starter relay, not your ignition. Matt has an aftermarket kit installed in his Tahoe. You can find plug-n-play kits for 03+ online that just make you press the lock/unlock buttons in whatever pattern they chose.

Now you should see if you can get a retro fit power liftgate kit to work on this model. I'm looking at a 2017 retro fit liftgate for a terrain I'm thinking about doing.

Anyway you could post a size comparison between the original key fob and the 2020? I love the looks of the new one but also like how slim and small the older style fits in my pockets while at work
I don't own a GM vehicle but im glad I watched this because I could've yold someone that "Yeah the newer fabs work with your old truck I saw it on RUclips" and the person goes and waste money on a normal fob and doesn't work. Now I can saw you need a special fob that'll work.

Yup I care, my stupid upgrade will be here tomorrow. Got the 2015 fob for my rust free 2002 Silverado 2500 HD from your first fob upgrade video. Price plus Pa. Sales tax was $51.98 from Boost Auto Parts….wish I would have been aware of the newer fob.

I have 1st style upgraded key fob for my 05 suburban z71. My issue with it is the arming proximity. I have to be pretty close for it to arm.

Do the same steps apply if you have a aftermarket alarm system on it? Or do you need to do something extra to program it to the alarm
I have a 2020 Tahoe with 89000 original miles on her. I saw your first video for the older key fob and I got two. After a couple of months they both stopped working. I tired to re program them and for some reason the lock and unlock didn't work. The panic kept working. Got in touch with Boost and they sent me two new ones at no charge and they have been working good. Only thing is the range on them aren't so good for the lock and unlock but the panic button has great range. I might try the new style once these die. Thanks for you videos as i get a lot of info and how to do from them to keep my Tahoe running and looking good

It’s gives me three options when purchasing I wasn’t sure witch one to buy I wasn’t sure witch fcc id mine was it is a 2004 so I just went with a 2003 thru 2007 option hopefully it works

I normally put a silicon case from eBay or Amazon in my new key fobs, keeps them from getting all faded and beat up cosmetically.
Pretty cool though, I might upgrade from my fisher price 🤣
I had to do that for Cadillac key fobs that the rubberized coating fell off of. The cheap silicone covers look like new like 2+ years later.
I still get compliments for my keyfob everyone loves it 😂
ive had one of the older ones for probably at least a year and a half now shes holding up fine, had to throw a battery in it once so far, but ive got it just with the key and the only real damage it gets is from me dropping it form time to time lol and even then its only scratches on the chrome

I like the old key fobs better tho. I get handfuls of them at the local pick and pull for a few bucks. They keep them at the front desk.
I have just given up using the fob for my tahoe. Just use the key only. No issues with losing program, buttons not working, taking up space in my pocket. Old school simple. ;)
Can you please demonstrate how to program a 2021 silverado custom fob. I lost my husband’s and would like to replace it.
Received mine programmed and works fine however I'm curious if the remote start already has to be installed on the vehicle or will these remotes just do it after programming cause I can't get mine to work I have a 2004 escalade
I asked my dealer about buying a new original fob. They wanted almost $500 for it including programming to the car. That´s a lot for that little plastic thing... I´m in Europe so it´s probably cheaper in the US but $64 sounds really good :)

My 15ish fob has been holding up ok. It never goes in my pocket. I latch my keys to my belt loop or leave my keys in the truck. The problem I do have however is I always always accidentally set off the panic alarm
how well does these fobs work/hold up overtime? I have a 05 tahoe and I bought some fobs off of amazon and after 2 weeks the fobs stopped working with my tahoe, old fob still worked fine. I read online that 3rd party fobs are a hit or miss if they will work long term.

I had seen somewhere that you had to have a fob already to program another? Not sure how true that was but I picked one up from oreilly's since my '04 silverado didnt come with one and i could never get it to work.

Matt! Great to see you again! I need to ask about the electric fans, bcuz I've heard that a special tune is needed when you retrofit like that. What can you tell me? I'm really wanting to do this on my 03 Yukon Denali with the 6.0, plus I live in the Phoenix area so the heat really affects AC performance. Thanx!
They have to tell the computer in your truck that it now has efans for it to controll to turn fans off and on automatically when I reaches temperature 🌡
I got mine after your video for my Yukon, it's held up great, chrome is just barely starting to peel on the back, I keep a good but of keys on my ring too

yeah i wanted to do this for my 2010 colorado ever since your first video, however, I have to have the dealer program new fobs for my truck as you need the GM scan tool to do it. So dumb. If anyone knows of a way to program a newer fob for the 08-12 Colorado let me know :)

I have the first boost auto fob. After 7 months the chrome came off. I just bought some cheap eBay cases for the newer fob and swapped the chrome sides. That’s my only beef with it honestly. I like the 2020 style but $65 is too salty. I’ll wait for a sale.
