@2:20 the astro my family has, has a chip in the key? Sooo?? Would this work for a 2000 Chevrolet astro van? Oh and the only 'downside' I see to this is that the fob is bigger than the original one, and all those items add up in your pocket. I needed to replace the BCM in my 04 suburban and I saw this video and grabbed 2 of these keyfobs at the same time, thank you so much! My girlfriend and I love these so much more than the factory fobs! And your video explained it perfectly!
I have a 2004 Tahoe and I found out that there is 2 different kinds of keys a passkey it actually does have a chip and a passlock it does not but you still need to do some kind of program not hard just need your owners manual to do it for the passlock key
I couldnt find one on amazon.just the spare chevy key not the fob. Had to go to boost autoparts for that. Super fast shipping too. California to maryland in like 3 -4 days.
You need to check those rear axle seals and Bearings man my cousin had to do it twice on his I’m about to do my first very common on these trucks hard to spot until it’s to late
The key has to be the correct mechanical cut to turn the lock cylinder but the "RFID" chip is in the body of the remote. A Body Control Module receives the input signal in the RF, Passenger side add on to decode. If the key is in the ignition switch that triggers a "Key In". The body controls module sees the door open @ close, it will make a tone, plus opens the door to prevent lock out. This prevents a service call. Same with replacing key fobs battery. It remembers. A EEPROM stores the signal code. It will hold up to five RKE codes. Add 6, it bumps the first code from the factory. This doesn't have to be same days or other time limits. ASE Master since 78. Retired and own two GM vehicles. Have lucky one! Omaha.
Regarding chipped keys. I once worked at a shop where a customer and I had almost identical 2000 monte Carlo as editions. And his car had a chipped key. Only reason I know this is he busted his key off in the ignition. And the dealer hammered him to replace the lock cylinder and reprogram his key set. So it's a crapshoot imho as to whether or not it's a chip key based on year
I have a 01 Silverado and an 04 Yukon n both mine (supposedly have chips) I have a spare plan one like you had that will unlock doors and start vehicle but it dies within 2 secs will not run with out it and my older 01 2wd truck had the pass lock security system in it cause I removed it and had to reset computer n all. This has blown my mind. I’m going to drive way to get keys n see if the plus is on them and try to recode the ones I have not currently working
I like that steering wheel. Great videos Matt. I just bought a 2004 Tahoe. I’d love to pick your brain on somethings. I’ve done a shot ton to it. Cam, intake, long tube headers, 4.5 BDS lift, 92 mm throttle body, rebuilt the whole front end including full break system replacement, I put on PRC cylinder heads tuned it and I just ordered Flex a Lit E fans. Hit me up. Located in Kansas City
My 08 Colorado doesn’t have a chip but for some reason the computer wouldn’t interface with the locksmiths Peter to try and program a new key fob so very interested in this video
They also have a blade version for the 00-06 trucks and suvs, but you cant shit it because they stick out to far. I wish they would improve that. This works good for now thanks.
Thanks for the great video! I have a 2003 Tahoe and ordered the key fobs from Boost Auto. The programming worked just like you said. Thanks again for posting this video.
You can also go to a GM dealer, get a key cut by VIN and it'll have the appropriate logo. Did that on my 2002 Yukon. Just need proof of ownership, proof of registration, tag number and the VIN! Cost $9.95 here.
Thanks my Man, worked like a charm, I want to respond to some of the reviews, you have to have the right vehicle and the right year everything has to match, you just can't buy a fob and it fits any vehicle! 😉👌🏿
you could have went to your local GM Dealer and got the key cut for less than 11 bucks if you lived down here in Mississippi. I worked at the Chevy Dealership here locally and the keys were like 6 bucks because they do not have the chip in it. Good video, we did this for our customers to avoid paying a fee to get them programmed in the shop.

I needed to replace the BCM in my 04 suburban and I saw this video and grabbed 2 of these keyfobs at the same time, thank you so much! My girlfriend and I love these so much more than the factory fobs! And your video explained it perfectly!
Awesome I'm going to do this for my truck and good video! 🙂
How did it work out for u???
@@Lore-wv5mt I haven't had the chance to do it but probably next month I'll do it and do a video review stay tuned! 🙂🚘
I got one of these about 6 months ago and it's been perfect since no issues
Thanks for the upload dude. I'm subbed now. :)
I have a 05 suburban z71 and your right no chip...but i had a 97 chevy lumina before and it has chips in the key.....im glad the suburban has no chip
Why am I watching this I don't even have a chevy truck
It's your mind telling you to buy a Chevy
I have a 2004 Tahoe and I found out that there is 2 different kinds of keys a passkey it actually does have a chip and a passlock it does not but you still need to do some kind of program not hard just need your owners manual to do it for the passlock key
Someone post the link for the fob from amazon lol
Omaha.
Just got my key fob today for my 00 silverado works great and was fast to program thanks
Thanks 👍 just bought a yukon with just a key so now I know where to get one.
Looks nice! Unfortunately it doesn’t have even half the range of the factory remotes. If you have auto start stick with the stock ones.
Saw your video in the wireless charger and I subscribed. I have a 2003 Avalanche.
Yo bro, the vid is old but it still works on my 2000 Chevy suburban
The moment I’m like hey lsx Matt should make a video on this, he comes out with exactly what I was thinking
Done watched this video 3 times now. RUclips really wants me to watch it. It's good, but dang I wanna see other recommendations.
Good to know, I thought it would be more expensive.
Yep. Copped two of them Thanks to you for the introduction!
Ace Hardware $2.50
Hey Matt I like your videos and how informative you are. I have a 2003 gmc Denali and I was wondering if you know where I can upgrade my leather seats or know who sells them?
I wish I'd known this worked... I bought the old fobs online... Should've bought this
Just received mine in the mail watched your video done it’s programmed!! Thanks
*I did a similar thing to my 2010 Ford Explorer 4x4 V8 XLT. I bought the new key fobs from Amazon and they worked perfectly. I kept the stock look though.*
Just got my Fob today and just program it. Thanks for the good look. Appreciate you
How did you replace the steering wheel and air bag ! That looks so much better than my OG steering wheel on my 02 Silverado
THANKS ALLOT BUD! WORKED ON POINT! Did exactly as you said fob from BOOST & key from Amazon! And WAHLAH LOVING IT! 06TBSS!!!🔥🔥🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Your the best man I just ordered one today and your code still works
Also please can you do a video on how to keep our trucks from getting stolen so easily because they're easily stolen.
Well after seeing your video, Matt, I had to get one! Lol, just placed my order, can't wait to get it for my 2003 Silverado!
