for $10 you can buy just the casting and then you take the little circuit board from your original and just out it in the new casing. I just did this and it looks and works great! looks identical to the one you are showing here but no reprogram required. on my 2015 GMC Sierra you cant re-program yourself, it required a computer with the correct software.
This is what I might need for my 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV once I get it for my first car & yes, I will be getting a good deal on the Escalade itself but not the key fob
Polly M. Not that i know of. It’s only compatible with the factory system as far as i know. You can contact Boost Auto Parts to get a forsure answer on that.
Mando what?? I haven’t seen one. I found a remote at the junkyard 😂 it messed up my truck so I disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes and it went back to normal. Opted out of using the remote 😆
2010 should not need programming that is exactly what mine is. It might be a late late 2010 and that could be why and that would possibly need a dealer programming
I got mine today and programed it for my 1999 chevy silverado, I've been playing with it like a kid. I keep setting off the alarm, when I bought the truck it didn't have the key fob
I just ordered mine, I love that retro fitting key fobs is an option now. Did you order the fob with the programming tool from them or did you opt to take it to a dealer when you purchased & did it yourself? Obviously I watched you do it lol, but you didn’t need the programmer from boost auto right?
@@jorgecardenas492 I got the 2020 style about 6 months ago, very happy with it. My truck is a 2013 though so I needed a programmer for mine. I don’t have the option in my dash.
I really never liked Chevy's key fobs, and I want to see if I can pull apart a newer Dodge key fob and reprogram it to a 2004 Chevy Silverado. If even possible, it would be a challenge, but I'm up for it when I can afford it.
Mine had basically same problem with glow plugs changed all of them and it went away. The engine light has to be off for the factory remote start to work.
@@manuelochoa2019 it’s usually on most cars now. My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a CEL for some gas evaporation leaks and it will auto start and then shut off on its own after a few seconds.
Maaaaaan! 2012 and up you have to pay extra to get it programmed! 😑 i was quoted 70$-150$ to program this key fob. So this will end up being 110$-190$ key fob..... sucks.
Yeah I figured that out the hard way . It doesn’t say that when it’s gives you the option to buy the 2011 fob . It went back and read it . It does say that but it’s way down one the site . Had to look hard for it . It should’ve been more clear about that . Now I go to find someone who can do it for me cheaper than the dealer . Sucks .
Just got the upgrade fob and is awesome, programmed it it less that 2 minutes. Thanks for the help!!!
Nice review man! Straight to the point no story telling which we appreciate

Thanks I watched your video last week and ordered mine. It came in today and works perfectly!!! Great video
I’m picking up an 09 tomorrow and definitely getting this done asap!
Hey, if try do the same with my 2016 silverado, will it work?
What is the range on this? How far away will it start the vehicle?
This is what I might need for my 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV once I get it for my first car & yes, I will be getting a good deal on the Escalade itself but not the key fob
How do I do it on a 09 Sierra without the buttons on the side and just the cluster stem?
But why? They are bigger and still only need 3 buttons.
You need to Get the RP5-GM31 From Pac for your stereo. It retains all the chimes..
i got the same one for my truck but i dont know how to turn down of off the volume?? Do you know how by chance

Concise and accurate instructions
Would this be compatible with an aftermarket alarm system? I have a viper alarm.

great little video thanks!
Mine is a butt. I have to hit the lock or unlock button 3 or 4 times before it will work and yes I change the battery.
Interesting, mine works great. When my battery was going low it did the same, but after I put a new battery in it was like brand new.
@@ACHUNTTV maybe mine was made on a Monday or a Friday. All I know is I have to keep hitting the button several times before it works.
I’m waiting for the OBS Chevy key fob to come out for my 2000 Tahoe limited
Does it work and have the same procedures for a 2006 chevy silverado..!?? 🤔
@@joeg.1119 They make them for 06 trucks not a 2000 tahoe

Mikethebutcher they made it different I guess
How would I know if my truck is packaged with remote start. When I bought it the key fob was a cheap replacement without the autostart option
It should be in the settings isn’t he dash i believe
My truck has an aftermarket remote start, you think the remote start would still work with this key fob?
No it will not work. The aftermarket remote started uses a whole different module that’s not pairable with these.
I have 2012 gmc sierra but it doesn’t have remote relearn on the display
will have to be taken to a dealer or some where that can pair them
Thanks Alec
My 2011 silverado doesn't give me the option relearn key why is that?
11-14 requires a professional scan tool and or the dealer would have to run that for you.
Hi will this work for a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500
For some reason is not programming. Does the 2010 need dealer programming?
Thanks

how did you program yours? can you explain please?
It took my truck 10 secs to program great upgrade
why my truck does not support thats option relern remote key ?
The 11+ has to be learned with a computer
Really helped now I will get it
Wonder why the website promotes them starting at 93 trucks
If they advertise it I’m sure that it’s compatible! It’s been a few years since i did this video so they have came out with a lot of new stuff

Boostautoparts.com

kevin escobedo 2011+ has to go to dealership or someone with software to program it.

Hello Sir great content,I wanted to know if this would work with an aftermarket Alarm System like viper with remote start?
Thank you for watching! It is not capable with aftermarket systems. Only with the factory system.
I got a question? Can I have few key fogs program in the truck? Because I have the original and after market already
It doesn’t show for my 2013 chevy?
Does it work and have the same procedures for a 2006 chevy silverado..!?? 🤔
Joe G. Yes it will. Check there website for the correct one.
Does that website modify them to work? Or can i just buy a replacement and it’ll work on its own?
Erwin925 Boost Auto Parts modifies them to fit the certain year models.

I sincerely appreciate.

Sounds like a tool of its even possible it would be super sweet though! Let me know if it works out!
What year is your truck
2010
Do you know if they will?
cool upgrade, I'm to cheap to spend 45 bucks on a key fob. thats half the cost of a new alarm system which comes with new fobs.
How do you add the Battery to the new fob? Can't get mine open don't want to break it
The side pop off then you will see where it comes apart after the sides are off!

Either by a dealership or someone with a programmer computer possibly a regular mechanic or maybe a locksmith

Yes PO381 and PO650
