Gaming on a TV vs. Monitor

- Which do you prefer, gaming on a TV or monitor? For me, playing PS5 games like TLOU and Spider-Man are great on a TV, but FPS games like COD are awesome on a monitor setup.

@@ChrisJones-pi5mh yeah that"s why I dont like gaming from my pc cause I have tv in my work room but I don't want to spend whole day there. I want to play on my tv in living room sometimes lol that's why I like my ps5
😂😂
Maybe it's just my long PC gaming background since the mid '90s, but that sensibility carried over for me into the PS3/360 console generation. I loved the convenience of having both my PC rig and console hooked up to a monitor setup long before streaming culture was a thing. I didn't transition back over to couch gaming until the latter stages of that era and then went back to using a monitor for the first five years of the PS4/XB1 gen. Towards the tale end of that gen is when I got back into couch gaming from a TV viewing distance. Thanks to the advent of TVs like the excellent LG G Series of OLED, which narrow the gap between smart TV and PC monitor like performance, I've been content with console gaming from my couch or bed while relegating my PC gaming and content creation to a monitor. This is the first console generation where I didn't kick things off with a monitor, but I wouldn't be surprised if I start using one again with the types of models coming out.
Yea I have a pretty solid gaming monitor at a desk in my basement. Have the series S set up on that currently. I use my C1 upstairs in the living room with the PS5 bc the picture is just so good with the combo of the two of them for movies/shows. I want to play shooters on my monitor but I can’t pull myself to take my PS5 away from the LG 🤣
@Eddie0102 Haha yeah same here.
I used to always prefer tv just because I didn’t want to spend money on speakers, but after awhile I realized living in the barracks I had my headphones on whenever I played anyway so that definitely helped me make the switch. It looks a hell of a lot better and I stopped getting headaches from gaming too long. Probably just because my tvs always sucked but eh either or
These 120 fps tv's have been exactly what I wanted for years 🙌
Yeah man I'm really happy with my Hisense
Yeah man TVs have come a long way for gaming. Mine even has ALLM and VRR support, freesync and also boosts the frame rate of older games that have low framerates.
But many of them are not real 120Hz TV they are just 60Hz TV which use Backlight strobing to create an illusion of 120Hz and it's Hertz not FPS for Displays
@@prathamkalgutkar7538 120hz allows for 120 fps in games, same difference lol
@Pratham Kalgutkar but many of them ARE 120 hertz, so I don't see your point.

No!! It's filthy dirty that setup 😆
Man if I try to game on a couch/bed, I'm asleep in 5 min. I work too hard for all that. Gotta be at a desk to stay focused and awake 😂
😂 My gf hates that, we'll sit down to watch a show and I'm out. If i stop moving after work I'm done for. I usually gotta end up getting a summary of whatever show we're watching cause shes like, ive watched this episode 3 times now, were moving on. 😅
If I work too hard I can't sit on a desk as a pc gamer I play fod with mnk and dark souls in bed. I hate desk that much it reminds me of working.
@thefirstone4864 yeah well it sounds like you have a desk job. Not physically demanding, so you aren't as tired, and I understand not wanting to sit at a desk after doing it all day at work. I work a trade, and it's fairly physically demanding so if I try to play a game laying in bed I can't stay awake. I'll pass out while playing. And I don't sit at a desk all day so for me doing it for a couple hours while I game is no big deal.
Just reading the comments it plays a dozen times. 6 for my typing.

Couldnt have put it better
After a big day at college and an evening passed at work. I much much muuuuch prefer gaming with a TV may it be story driven game like god of war or fps like overwatch. Its just so much easier to just launch my ps5 sit back and relax than being super focused on a chair when i barely have the energy of staying awake 🤡
Now we just need the brainless fools to let us use our preffered brands of wireless keyboards and mouses! To add an internet browser and more choice of applications!!!!
I mean what are they doing!
Oh look it's a new Tony hawks!!! But in reality it's the Tony hawks I played in the year 2000 with a graphics update😂 literally the arcade version but wait there's more we also get the last of us 1 sure it's priced the same as new game but it's pretty😂🤭
They are literally becoming EA yearly games or shall I see DLC's disguised as new games 😅 Spider-Man legit took 2 games and 3 DLC's just to make the swinging satisfying can't even finish Miles I'm already so bored of the 1st one because it's playability is worse then the ps3 version!
What chops are they now they waffling on about silent hill remastered 🙄 like who's going to buy the stupid thing to play ancient games we've either already played or are too Young to know they ever existed.
It's a sign of the Era Sony belong in the past like their console 🙄 and shitty controllers and the compatibility of a fuckinv Gameboy!!!!!!!!

Just sleep then. Your body needs sleep more than you need gaming.
for me it depends on my mood lol. What got me into gaming on a monitor in the first place. Is when I realized I needed to get a chair to sit closer to the TV. Instead of sitting on the couch 😅
Playing FPS games on TVs always made me feel like the TV was too far for me to be focused (and I was playing Fallout New Vegas on my Xbox)
I have a LG C1 OLED 77 inch and it's great
I used to play on a TV. Nothing beats that feeling, but I needed a monitor just to get a bit of that edge in some games.
I own a 55" Philips TV that I use personally for gaming because I can't afford a dedicated PC setup which I plan on getting sometime down the road. So far it's held up for the past 4-5 years and probably will keep going for another few before it bites the dust.
I am of the exact same opinion and that’s the reason I’ve invested on all systems, so that I can choose based on the game I want to play. On the consoles I play platformers, over the shoulder / 3rd person adventures etc., while using the PC mostly for strategy or fps games
I play on my 55 LG CX and it's amazing. Both PS5 and Series X look incredible. 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs, 120 vrr, dolby sound & video, 4k resolution. Best TV I've ever owned!

You read my mind.😅
Sony Bravia 55” A80J is where it’s at. Gives me 120hz, VRR for gaming. For movies it’s one of the best OLEDs out there and it’s compatible with my Sonos setup for Dolby atmos. For PS5 gaming, I can’t see any reason why you would choose a monitor over this (except maybe price) but it’s two birds with one stone and you get to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Both have their benefits. When playing story based games or even racing games I enjoy a big screen. Been when playing fighting games, fps or any shooters in general like Apex, Fortnite, CoD etc. I be thinking to myself (damn I need a monitor)
Yessssss, post more Shorts :D
i’m weird i sit on my gaming chair and roll it in front of my tv to play lol, i just find it much more comfortable to be seated straight makes me feel more immersed weirdly enough

Definitely love gaming on my lg OLED c9 awesome sound for movies. picture and color along with game response to keep up with all the movement on screen. Including call of duty.
I used to always prefer tv but after experiencing sitting at my PC I enjoy PC more especially with controllers, it doesnt feel like working at a desk job at all in the right mindset, it’s having the proper setup to play your fast paced games.
Me who sits at a desk with a tv “I’m five parallel universes ahead of you”
same haha
Sitting with a 43 inch don't count tho
As someone who mostly prefers console for story gaming, I wouldve agreed a while back but ever since i got dual monitors and found out how easy it is to look up guides/rpg/exploits/ways to avoid bad endings of games I appreciated having access to all of that at a desk. Also once I separated my space for gaming and my space for watching TV shows/Movies, ive been able to balance my free time a lot better between the mediums. PLUS story games have great sound direction too so headphone are always nice for gaming. So honestly monitor all the way for gaming for me. Only exception is maybe for retro gaming with a gamecube or play station and you know youre going to have guests that are going to want to play multiplayer stuff
This was the best loop I have ever seen in my entire life
