He talks Sony up so much. I bought the HT A9s and they were no where near the quality of his review and nearly unusable due to constant dropouts. The most basic Klipsch system sounds better than these.. don’t trust these reviews
A 20 minute review is uploaded and in like 10 minutes you have a whole bunch of comments asking questions that are actually answered in the review. That tells you everything about social media these days. 🤦🏻♂️
Is this a review of the Sony Bravia Theater Quad? How does it compare to the comparable Wharfedale Elysian 4 with the $5,000 center channel? Which one is heavier and requires more space? If I have the HT9, should I upgrade? Does the Quad produce more bass? What would happen if I put the Elysian 4 on top of the Quad speaker and the center on top of the control box?
Andrew is pretty classy about that kind of thing though. I watched a video from an Aussy/New Zealand PC builder in which he went on a bitch rampage for the first 5 minutes of a video to everyone about watching until the end to ask questions. Sorry buddy some people like to comment when things come into their heads. I immediately unsubscribed.
I just got the chance to hear these at a Sony event the other day...WOW! You will not believe your ears. This provides literally one of the most immersive and compelling surround sound experiences you have ever had in your entire life. Yes, they are THAT good! Pair them up with a Sony wireless sub and be prepared to be absolutely blown away by the experience. With this setup, you don't just watch a film, you are IN the film!
I really think Sony's about-face a few years ago, focusing its attention on fewer products and making sure it's always top performers, was the right move, and this system is a great example of this.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews I would like to see a redo on center channel sync with the new Bravia 9 tvs coming out. Their speaker setup looks pretty decent on paper.
Best tip for those with the quads, try using "sound height higher" after calibration. The bass and overall presence is demonstrably better. Had for two weeks now and have played around with all of the settings.
An interesting comparison might be the QUAD system vs a 5.1.4 AVR/separates system using one of the affordable bookshelf speakers you mentioned around 13:35 but using a new Sony AVR that has the 360 spatial mapping feature.
I would be interested in a more direct sound quality comparison between the Quad and the A9, since those will likely be the systems people in this market niche will be choosing between.
I think it would be a good idea for Sony to have a combo center speaker with the control box. I know the phantom center is already very good but I think a center speaker would really push many enthusiasts (who are currently still uncertain) into this system. At the same time, might as well have the center combined with the control box with more inputs/physical controls as well.

I completely agree. Those speakers have a terrible form factor. Way too wide. I have an HT-A9 and speakers are just the correct size. I could not put this new speakers.
I bought the Quad. Great sound. With Dolby Virtualizer mode, the volume is almost double compared to the 360 Spatial Sound mode. It's also more bassy and fuller. Did you notice it? 11:4011:40
Sony took the subs out of the box because people said they didn't want them. Maybe they live in an apartment or complex. So they made them an option. Plus you can choose what sub you want.

Question: Is it only Sonys subs that link? Is it possible to use SVS? Or others. And if you can use SVS. Wouldn’t it be possible to daisy chain multiple sub??
Thanks for the review Andrew. This feels like a step towards "third time is the charm" for Sony. An included subwoofer, a few more inputs, and a pinch of user-control... then I think they've finally finished the product.
Awesome to finally get some relevant thoughts and measurements on the SW3 subwoofer! Been searching for ages for a frequency response on it, glad you included some measurements in this video. Awesome review as always Andrew!
Hey Andrew, the answer owners of the original A9 would like to know, is the new system sound $1000 better? hopefully you can answer that without making Sony upset. Thanks
Hello Kristi and Andrew Thanks for the great channel and the test of the new Sony. question: we can only place the rearspeakers very close behind the sofa. Is it possible to adjust the rear speakers to be significantly quieter than the front speakers? Or will the measurements do that? Thank you.
Agreed, having to buy a subwoofer separate doesn't make sense, especially when you are charging 3K cad for the speakers. How does the Samsung Q990D fair? Will be waiting for your video
I hope so! Also hoping for a comparison with the theatre quad. Pretty sure Stop The FOMO was saying the bar 9 was actually better at spacial presence than the quad this year. Not to mention, if they update the optional rears again this year, it could make for quite the competition- and also quite a hard decisions for us consumers 😅
Why no Sub Out? Could be so easy... Why having to buy an ugly Sony sub? I have already a dual sub setup for music. Would be great to just use these for home theatre too.
The price is still quite high without a subwoofer. It is noticeable that Sony is promoting the Bravia Theater Quad (why not in black) while I wait for the Sony Bravia Theater Bar 9
I purchased the HT-A9 System following your review, and I have absolutely loved it. I have it paired with a Sony A95K Oled, and I can confirm that the audio is far superior when you opt out of using the TV as a centre Channel.
Great Review but for me a detailed sound comparison to the HT-A9 was missing. As a HT-A9/SW5 owner with no dropout issues, is the Theatre Quad worth the 1k Price difference?
Andrew, i asked Ealan this as well. Can this system work with an 8 foot textured ceiling? I guess that would depend on sound bouncing which usually needs a flat ceiling to work properly. Thanks.
Andrew; where is your profit sharing from Sony?! I loved your review, as always. Am a first-gen adopter of the HT-A9 as My Mrs was not into a sound profile requiring constant change to my receiver/speaker configuration, tearing apart the viewing space for the umpteenth time, stands, wires and (to her) ugly pieces of audio gear sticking out of every corner imaginable. After “letting go” to keep peace on the home front (granted this cannot match discrete channel separation/isolation) it was a pretty damn good compromise for the HT-A9. I just bought the second gen a second ago after watching your review - keep up the great work as always!!
great review - crazy system but moreso that it is a clear £600-700 more than the older ht system. (1899 entry price when new) Is it worth that over and above the old ? (are you aware without Kristy to bounce off your sign off is a little weird and awkward ? ;-)
That was an excellent video. I own the Sony HT-A9 with the larger sub. I completely agree with everything you said, and I have enjoyed the first generation of this hybrid sound bar more than my other home theaters. I do have one question. In the advanced settings under manual control I have it set to High. When I set it to neutral or low, it sounds like I’m listening to it in a tin can. lol! But when I put it to high, it is the most immersive 12 speaker phantom I’ve ever heard along with 360 spatial audio. Am I doing something wrong? Is it supposed to be set to high and does the quad have the same issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I thought leaving out the sub was no big deal until I saw it's $2500 for the 4 speakers. Even for Sony, that's a stretch. People in the market for this will be looking at Sonos as the standard.
The phantom center is amazing. Make sure you do extensive testing to confirm that using the Bravia TV as a center is not compromising on overall sound quality and possible the 3d sound field.
As somebody who has been rocking a 3.1 speaker system for almost a decade this has me excited. I’ve yet to read or watch a review of wireless surround speakers that weren’t plagued with connection or sync issues. Hopefully Sony will carry this reliability over to the next pair of wireless speakers and their A/V receivers.
I have an open concept floor plan and this may be the best solution for me. For the folks with experience with this system, do you believe it will work with 12 foot ceilings? Thx
Great review, and I'd certainly consider the BRTQ, but for one issue - each speaker needing power. I feel it's much easier to hide speaker wire than it is to hide power cables, especially if you don't have outlets near where the speakers should be. The speakers look great mounted on a wall near the TV, but they're not as easy to set up as they look.
This. And because years ago I ran (and hid under floor) speaker wire and sub RCA cable(s) for my 5.1 system, I'd never have a reason to figure out how/where to plug in all 4 speakers like with this system. However for some it might represent a good option.
Not enough audio inputs. Need the ability to connect a 3rd party streamer for more music streaming options. Also need the ability to connect the system to roon for multi-room playback. Lack of inputs for a $2500+ system is unforgivable.
I brought a set home along with the larger sub. I then proceeded to test it against an AVR setup with an older set of B&Ws and a brand new Sony that also has their 360 surround feature. I spent hours and couldn't get the AVR setup to have the 3D sound field or the level of realistic clarity that the Quads achieved in my room. They aren't the greatest speakers ever, but they are amazing. I wouldn't have paid the retail price, but Best Buy had made a mistake that weekend on the open box stuff. I got them for $1700 and the SW5 sub for $375, so the price was not terrible. I hate the lack of inputs, but what's worse is the lack of advanced customizable controls. However, they sound so good for the price I paid that I decided to keep them. The AVR had nicer lower mids and also better bass due to a larger sub. Everything is a compromise...
Thank you Andrew and the “Star of the show” Kristi. I see you guys as an inspiration and started my own journey. I’m work for Sony Electronics here in Dubai so i have easy access to newer models before most of the RUclipsrs. It’s until time before I gain some confidence and come in front of camera and talk. Till then, I’m gonna learn from you guys. Thanks again, you made my day ❤
Good afternoon Andrew and Kristi. Excellent thorough review of the Sony and the benefits vs a soundbar based system. Agree that not including a sub especially at the $2500 price tag seems counterintuitive to a HTIB system especially one that features such bass-shy speakers. Thanks again for all the great reviews and looking forward to Friday.
Great video as always. Quality stuff. I agree with Sony updating the subwoofer and including it instead of the add-on option. I am also wondering why Nakamichi still hasn't extended a Dragon for review. I'd love to see your comparisons of the Dragon, Q990C(D), and the Bravia Theatre Quad.
I know how you feel. My entire adult life, I've rejected anything without a center channel. However, I tested and eventually kept this system because the 3D sound field, the realistic clarity, and the phantom center are outstanding. I spent hours comparing it to an AVR setup in the same room and it is clear that the Sony engineers are doing the impossible via proprietary digital sound processing. As with al speakers, placement can improve the experience. If you encounter folks that complain about the Quads (paired with the SW5 sub), there may be some serious placement issues or they did not run the tuning via a phone with a good microphone. By the way, after the initial tuning, it is really quick to reset the primary location by running a five second tuning process from your temporary new sitting position. So if you move around your living room, your spot can always be the center of the sound field.
Warranty? Wish more reviewers would give their opinion on the warranty offered for these high dollar proprietary systems. That is a value consideration that is key for me at these price points.
I pickedup this system today watching Jurassic Park now replacing Klipsch RP 8000F's, their newer 1200 sub, PD240 slims for rears and a Denon AVRX-4300H. I cannot believe this system is real. It's at least as good, maybe better in some ways at actually giving a great movie experience. I was afraid that it wasn't going to be 'loud' or fill the room enough based on past 'soundbar' experiences. Completely wrong. I don't think for one minute you're wrong that these kinds of systems with great positional software are the future for most home Theater setups . It even used my cellphone microphone instead of a stand-alone which was super fun .It's definitely replacing my Klipsch reference system without question. My only gripe is the lack of HDMI ports but I can sort of see Sony's position on this that their A/V receivers fill that need and, if pairing with a TV, the idea should be to use the TV as the 'receiver' . For me, I just use 1 Apple TV and a UHD-ray player so it wasn't a big deal.
In the Europe Samsung 990C costs $800, Sony Bravia Quad with sony Sub costs about $3500! In this price i could buy complete hifi system with 2 atmos speakers. 5.1.2 + receiver for example: Monitor Audio Bronze 200 +50+150 +atmos AMS + Klipsch 101SW+ Onkyo 6100.I could also buy others companies speakers based on floor standing speakers like Klipsch R600f, Heco Aurora 700, Dali oberon 7 etc. The queston is. Is it better to buy Samsung soundbar 990C or pay 3x more and buy complete home theater system like I mention or buy this new Sony Bravia Quad speakers because it is so good?
And now that I’ve watched the whole video- wonderful ending rant, Andrew. I can’t be the only one waiting for at least a short comment from Kristi on the next Unplugged. BTW, loved the last Unplugged/ Livestream -
These speakers are tightly coupled.. Very difficult if any kind of issue to get it fixed.. If we go with traditional sound systems like denon and marantz.. Of any speaker issue then you just need to replace just try speake4..if receiver itself is the problem then you can replace the receiver in worst case scenario.. You can do use the existing speakera..
I received mine couple days ago, I'm coming from the A9 and using my SW5, I concur its a step up I don't have a Sony TV so I find the phantom centre channel much improved. The sub has a lot more (BOOM).. lol to it, and the system in general to get the same Vol as my A9, I'm running at half the volume.Looking forward to testing it out more.. So in general with the improved audio quality and conductivity (no drop outs) I sold my A9 and more than happy so far with my purchase.
If you don't want any cables in both sides of your tv and prefer something simple, the theatre bar 9 is your go to, but you won't get the same sound bubble 360 sony spatial audio immersion that you get with either the a9 or the quad cuz all the sound will come out from under your tv.
First of all, great review as always 🙂 Sony, honestly, expecting people to spend a fortune on your system here to get better sound and then saying they can just use the terrible sound from the TV as the center channel is completely insane. People are buying a product like this specifically to get away from TV sound. I simply don't understand it. Why haven't they addressed all the issues that existed with previous products, such as connectivity problems and missing sound in some channels, etc.? Why don't they just include the option to connect everything with cables if desired to ensure 100% stable connection between all channels? It's a complete mystery to me. There should be one subwoofer included in the box with the option to purchase another one if desired, and give people the option to buy an additional speaker to use as the center channel. There is simply too far to go before this is a "finished" product, with too many overlooked opportunities to lead the market.
Did you try placing the speakers in unusual ways like with the HT9? Would I fair ok hanging the front two speakers on my front wall? Do they need to be out in the room? Thank you for another great review
Amazing review. The be fully sure that the disconnection issue is fixed, if possible, could you please place your wifi router right near the control box and possibly connect 4 plus devices to this wifi router. If you can test this setup for maybe a week and you have no disconnections I would say Sony has well and truly fixed the disconnection issue from the original A9. I have the original A9, and the test I am asking you to do pretty much always causes disconnections for me over a week of listening.
My router and all my network equipment lives in an equipment closet in the middle of my home, I have no way of placing these speakers near our router, sorry. If you have the ability to move your router, have you tried that in order to keep your HT-A9 speakers from disconnecting?
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Appreciate the reply. Sadly at the moment, my fixed access point makes it near impossible to place the router anywhere else. If someone pays like 2 grand for a product this really should not even be an issue, which is why I wanted this tested before I even think of upgrading. If ever in the distant future you guys had a chance to test the scenario above, it would be awesome if you came back to this comment and provided an update!! Cheers, keep up the great work!
Great review. This looks like a winner, and I appreciate you calling Sony out on their shortcomings (not including a 100% necessary sub is like McDonald's selling you a Big Mac and offering a couple stale, ugly bun options for an added fee). With the HT-A9, I believe you said Sony warned that ceilings higher than 12 feet might present a problem. Is this true for this system? Is this true for ALL upfiring speakers?
@@KristiWright it’s an intriguing technology. Good to hear it’s flexible. From the review of the older version, it seemed like the system just “figured it out” with regard to spacing/distance from walls and other speakers. Fascinating.
Andrew you are an excellent reviewer. Your writing and speech skills are substantial. Nonetheless, I confess, I miss Kristi counterpoints and frank observations within the review itself. Her unplugged contribution is good, but not enough, for me. I'm playing my old audiophile card (age 64, 45 years into the madness), Kristi, please come back to the reviews. Your input within the freshness of the review is needed, and immensely appreciated. Thank you both for your excellence.
How is my contribution to Unplugged "not enough?" I sincerely do not understand this notion. You literally get more time with me. Please know that I appreciate those of you who love the conversation portion. I really do. Unfortunately, a large group of people feel very differently, so this works best for us.
@@KristiWright Thank you Kristi for your completely Frank response to my request. I'm just being selfish. Hey, I view and read dozens of reviews of gear online and in print, every month. I'm quite jaded by reviewers who tippy toe around a product's weaknesses so as to not upset the figurative apple cart (distributors, marketing reps, manufacturers) that provide the products they review. You, wisely, prioritize the consumer and truly provide us with a valued opinion. Unplugged seems to focus on answering questions and comments on the review, that's fine. I, personally, value your opinion of the product prior to you reading the comment section. For your fantastic contribution, in all forms, thank you Kristi.
@@davidrivera2165 Thanks for responding and your appreciate your kind remarks about my contributions. Perhaps I'm biased (as I help write these reviews), but I don't feel that Andrew tip-toes around or avoids critique. In fact, he calls Sony out in this video. So while I understand your frustration with the 'clearly hasn't spent 5 minutes with a product' crowd, I find your comment about being jaded misplaced, and I have to wonder how well - and this isn't just you - people pay attention to the video because from my perspective you've already overlooked some things.
So is this system limited to single source streaming (say an apple TV) or can it be combined with Sony's ES flagship receiver or other processor so you can switch between a streaming box and 4K blue ray player? Now if Sony only had allowed four of their wireless subs to be used and yeah, subs that are cylindrical that match the four main units.
Sony makes amazing tech but sometimes makes interesting design choices. Quads look sleek but what would bug me is seeing the wires coming out form the speakers. Just does not look clean and no way to hide them.
Full disclosure: I am one of those dinosaurs who still owns a Panasonic Plasma TV and love it to death! Great picture that doesn't look artificial as the ones of too many TV's of today. I use a Roku stick and ....., life is good. Nice review!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews I always do, some of the best reviews out there. We have something in common, Alfa Romeo, but you gave up the Stelvio, I still have my '88 Spider that, like the Plasma TV, I love to death.
Guys believe me its been a week with this masterpiece and I never heard such an amazing sound. It quad itself has amazing bass which is same as woofer bass. Try it.
Sony are due to release an update soon that will make older TVs (already available on the new Bravia 7/8/9) calibrate the TV alongside the speakers so that it plays in unison. On the old A9's the TV and speakers play independently but once this new update is out the TV and speakers will play in unison (only on the quads) and it will also be included on the calibration. Id highly recommend trying the speakers with the Bravia 9 as the beam tweeters are very good on the TV that it's like having a dedicated center with the quads.
Rather than including a sub with the system I'd much rather Sony add a standard sub pre-out port on the brain unit. Would love to hear that system with an A-List sub chosen to best suit one's room.
Thanks a lot for the review. That seals the deal for me. Based on the previous model, it was pretty clear it was going to be good. Your review confirmed it on all points. I’m excited to use the system myself.
I have a Sony theater system and mostly love it and its quality. That said, I find it ridiculous this expensive quad system doesn't come with a subwoofer. Like Sony couldn't throw that in and not make a stupid amount of money anyway. In fact it would probably sell significantly better.
Hi Andrew and Kristi, thanks for doing the review. I enjoyed it. How does it compare to nakamichi dragon? If i have to choose one for my living room , which one do you recommend?
I’ve had some other brands as my audio system. I currently have a Sonos system that I built with Sonos Arc, 2 subs third Gen and 2 Sonos SLs and I don’t think I’ll find something that will top this off. And I love the fact that you can control all of it thru an app.
I own the 930c , and added a 350w Klipsch subwoofer in tandem with the Samsung Sub and it turned into a poors man Nak. Dragon. Lol Btw purchased them used ( Samsung = 150$) (Klipsch sub =50$) Pretty easy upgrade to hook up the extra sub.
Great review great product. Seems many in the comments are missing these are wireless and kinda a life style product with the design. Basic and non intrusive design. Perfect for a living space that doubles a home theatre.
Great setup - using the Arc ... 2 Era 300s and Gen 3 sub myself .. I had the 100s at first and upgraded go the 300s and it was night and day difference. All in all ... super happy with the Sonos setup
I'm in the same boat as you!! I've been looking at these home theater options for a while now but want to be truly sure before I pull the trigger on a $2,000 + buy. Sonos is rumored to be dropping a NEW ARC, which would be a game changer. I haven't heard anything on Sony releasing a new sub. It feels like that's what Sony needs to lock them in as the elite option..
Will the rear channel speakers in the Quad produce a great Atmos experience if they are placed on the side facing inwards, either 90 degrees to either side or placed slightly further back angled slightly forward? Thanks
Every setup and room is likely to differ so you're just going to have to experiment. In my opinion, the rears are pretty darn flexible with respect to placement.
The thing I don't get about this one. is that these quad speakers don't look any aesthetically nicer than just regular bookshelf speakers on stands or wall mounted with a nice center channel. They are awkward looking and take up the same amount of real estate. The reason for these systems like sound bars are because they are like super simple to install and sleek and don't really stand out or take up much space. Because you're not going to get the same audio quality out of one vs dedicated speakers. but with the QUAD you get all the drawbacks of dedicated speakers but worse sound than a dedicated set up
I've had HT-A9 for close to three years now .. still impresses me when the movie creators use the sound accurately .. Whenever I randomly ask any guest watching TV at my place from where the sound is coming, everyone says its coming from the TV .. The center phantom channel is that good .. All the arm chair activists with no money and no knowledge will continue blaming Sony for no center channel .. I'm sure Quad would be nicer sounding with additional drivers

$3500 cnd with taxes and I still have to buy a $1000+ Sub 🤔 I like Sony but that’s a tad steep
Andrew, when are you going to review the best soundbar system available, the Nak Dragon?!

Just one request ... cud u pls share your quad settings?? TIA
Which brand of stands did you use?
@@BornIn82 The stands are listed in the desx box.
Question:
Is it only Sonys subs that link? Is it possible to use SVS? Or others.
And if you can use SVS. Wouldn’t it be possible to daisy chain multiple sub??
This new system have same power output as my HT-A9 even though Quad have one additional front facing driver per box
Thanks for the review Andrew. This feels like a step towards "third time is the charm" for Sony. An included subwoofer, a few more inputs, and a pinch of user-control... then I think they've finally finished the product.
Your comment was included in today's Unplugged. Thanks for contributing to the conversation! ruclips.net/video/cuF3F3I_g_g/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Thanks
Hello Kristi and Andrew
Thanks for the great channel and the test of the new Sony.
question: we can only place the rearspeakers very close behind the sofa.
Is it possible to adjust the rear speakers to be significantly quieter than the front speakers? Or will the measurements do that?
Thank you.
I've got your question tagged for Friday's Unplugged. Andrew will give you a shout out! Thanks for watching.

As much as i think they look better with the new shape, it does really make it harder to just put them anywhere like the first ones
Agreed, having to buy a subwoofer separate doesn't make sense, especially when you are charging 3K cad for the speakers. How does the Samsung Q990D fair? Will be waiting for your video
I assume we can expect a Sony Bravia Theatre Bar 9 review is coming soon? 😁
I would also be very interested of the theater Bar 9 review and how it behaves compared to the theater quad . Thank you
Why no Sub Out? Could be so easy... Why having to buy an ugly Sony sub? I have already a dual sub setup for music. Would be great to just use these for home theatre too.
The price is still quite high without a subwoofer.
It is noticeable that Sony is promoting the Bravia Theater Quad (why not in black) while I wait for the Sony Bravia Theater Bar 9
I purchased the HT-A9 System following your review, and I have absolutely loved it. I have it paired with a Sony A95K Oled, and I can confirm that the audio is far superior when you opt out of using the TV as a centre Channel.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great Review but for me a detailed sound comparison to the HT-A9 was missing.
As a HT-A9/SW5 owner with no dropout issues, is the Theatre Quad worth the 1k Price difference?
Your answer will be covered in Friday's Unplugged. See you then!
You willing to sell your first gen unit?
So glad you found something that works for the whole family!
@@d.carter3850 just seeing this; brother-in-law got dibbs - that was the trade-off to get the new….
great review - crazy system but moreso that it is a clear £600-700 more than the older ht system.
Great review, thank you! I'm now choosing the BRAVIA Theatre & SW5 with a BRAVIA TV over a SONOS setup...
Did you get that set up?
Not yet, but hopefully in the next few months...
@@LaughMuBai 🤞
Connect it to your tv
This is why I always refer Andrew’s review videos to my customers when it comes to home theater systems.
Always honest and unbiased. 🙌🏻
Thanks so much!
The only problem with this channel is that you cost me money by finding products I never knew I needed. Thanks😅
What kind of surround sound system that doesn't have a center channel?
Can you make a video of how to turn wired speakers to wireless and pair them to a receiver?
Give it some time, prices will come down like it did for the HT-A9.
And now that I’ve watched the whole video- wonderful ending rant, Andrew. I can’t be the only one waiting for at least a short comment from Kristi on the next Unplugged. BTW, loved the last Unplugged/ Livestream -

Killer review. Way to go. I'm not looking for a HT right now, but if I were, the would be the top of my list. Thank you
Thank you for watching, Aaron!
Thank you for sharing your personal experience!
Please do a nakamichi dragon 11.4.6 review!!
Wondering how this will compare to their upcoming Theater Bar 9. Which one of these is supposed to be the flagship?
Both are flagship.
If you don't want any cables in both sides of your tv and prefer something simple, the theatre bar 9 is your go to, but you won't get the same sound bubble 360 sony spatial audio immersion that you get with either the a9 or the quad cuz all the sound will come out from under your tv.
Thanks Andrew! New Bravia quad home today and the a9 listed on marketplace. Both fantastic the new one is absolutely improved. FANTASTIC!
First of all, great review as always 🙂
Sony, honestly, expecting people to spend a fortune on your system here to get better sound and then saying they can just use the terrible sound from the TV as the center channel is completely insane.
So glad you mentioned that about the sw3. I imagined it was adequate enough for smaller spaces
The SW3 impressed this time around, proof that the room is as important a component in any system as any amp or speaker.
I’ve been waiting on this review from you specifically. 😂
I hope it was worth your time. Thank you for watching!
What a great review! I wish more reviewers were able to entertain an inform as Weil as you did here. Bravo!
Thank you kindly!
how does it compare to the samsung q990d?
It’s better than it
Also, I agree about your subwoofer rant. If Sony created dual slim subs that fit under sofas, it would be heaven!
Cool system but at more than double what I paid for Q990C and I still need a subwoofer it’s a pass for me
Would love to see the new Sonos arc ultra bundle go toe to toe with this!
Any chance of a comparison between this and the nakamichi dragon?
Stay tuned...

I have literally goosebumps before watching omg
Nice review, Andrew! I sense your excitements about this package. I'm really surprised about the size. Nice form factor!
Love the new profile pic!
Did you try placing the speakers in unusual ways like with the HT9? Would I fair ok hanging the front two speakers on my front wall? Do they need to be out in the room?
Thank you for another great review
How is dolby Atmos performance compared. To A9 ?
Both are exceptional but I wasn't able to test the A9 against the Bravia Quad here so I cannot speak to specific differences, sorry.
I'd say high ceiling heights become a concern with most upward-firing speakers.
Fascinating review. Would love to experience these.
Question: how “flexible” is the placement of the front and back satellites?
As flexible as your nearby power source and willingness to experiment until you're happy.

I agree. I usually just skip the video to the Kristi part (just kidding!).
Just does not look clean and no way to hide them.
great point. hadn't considered this.
yea they should hv provided wires hiders within the box
I had a chance to listen to this for a few minutes yesterday. Very impressive. Pricey, but impressive.
I'll wait until they incorporate a "sub out" or offer bigger subs with deeper-heavy bass.
Full disclosure: I am one of those dinosaurs who still owns a Panasonic Plasma TV and love it to death! Great picture that doesn't look artificial as the ones of too many TV's of today. I use a Roku stick and ....., life is good.

Hello, would you recommend this for the Samsung hw-q990d??
Guys believe me its been a week with this masterpiece and I never heard such an amazing sound. It quad itself has amazing bass which is same as woofer bass. Try it.
This is top praise. I wish you could add your own sub(s).
We hope to do test out the new TVs soon!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews They released the new update today 1.150 that now calibrates the TV with the speakers (Sony 2022 models and onwards).
I think that was one of the best reviews I’ve ever watched. Well done
Thank you so much!
Rather than including a sub with the system I'd much rather Sony add a standard sub pre-out port on the brain unit. Would love to hear that system with an A-List sub chosen to best suit one's room.
@andrewrobinsonreviews
Curious to know how Sony's Quad holds against 2 pairs of KEF's LSX II LT (1st pair in front and 2nd pair in back)?

This actually had me wondering for a minute if I should buy this!
Come join us on Unplugged when you're done here!
what's the best setting setup you would recommend ? basically to set it and forget it to enjoy music, movies etc. thanks
With a sub it's about twice the price of the Samsung 990C. Do you think it's worth the price difference?
I own the 930c , and added a 350w Klipsch subwoofer in tandem with the Samsung Sub and it turned into a poors man Nak. Dragon. Lol
Btw purchased them used ( Samsung = 150$)
(Klipsch sub =50$)
Pretty easy upgrade to hook up the extra sub.
Great review great product. Seems many in the comments are missing these are wireless and kinda a life style product with the design. Basic and non intrusive design. Perfect for a living space that doubles a home theatre.
Sh...t. I was about to buy Sonos ARC with sub and 2x Era 300, but after this review I'm so confused.....
Great setup - using the Arc ... 2 Era 300s and Gen 3 sub myself .. I had the 100s at first and upgraded go the 300s and it was night and day difference. All in all ... super happy with the Sonos setup
I have the Sonos with era 300 and mini sub.. get the Sony
