@OttoJulian_ It is less intuitive to use than a smartphone. Also, framing is harder because of the screen size. It is a work in progress, but i slightly increase its useage in my videos. The camera is incredible, I'm just bad at using it. Your videos helped a lot (on other subjects, too!)

The jump in improvements between the 2 is mind-blowiing, especially after getting used to the miniscule improvements GoPro had for every model.

Optics: The Pocket 3 perfectly matches my Mavic 3 Classic for all my filming. Now, my Pocket 2 is my backup camera and is a great 2nd remote control camera for 2 person interviews. Both are great cameras for web-based filmmaking. MeHi from Newfoundland.

perfect I just purchased one of these a couple of days ago the pocket 3 . You're absolutely spot-on with your information . I had to pocket 2 about a year and a half ago and I absolutely hated it and sent it back . The pocket 3 combo is so much better . Worth every penny .

I think the night shots on the pocket 3 are undeniably better than the pocket 2. As someone planning to take quite a bit of night shots, I think I'm definitely sold on the pocket 3 over the 2 (despite the 2 being an amazing buy by itself). Thanks for the great comparison video!
yeah there is no denying about it. I didn't enjoy filming at night with the P2 and always tried to avoid using it for that. With the Pocket 3 is a different story. Thanks for your feedback!
My main issue with my pocket 2 is the sky is always washed out white light when it's cloudy, and it messes up all videos I shoot outside. I was really disheartened with my Japan footage from my recent trip. I felt like every shot was ruined by bright sky.
The appeal of better dynamic range is what makes me want the pocket 3.

I have neither of the 2 cameras, am considering buying OP3, it has quite many good reviews. However, I have seen OP2 available for half price of OP3. That is tempting. One of the (probably main) disadvantages of OP3 vs OP2 seems to be small display. As for stabilitazation and horizontal leveling are these 2 products comparable? Thanks.
The Pocket 3 seems to be better in low light situations, and even in situations where the light is okay when the result looks brighter and more appealing. I would think that most of us film in less than ideal situations, so Pocket 3 is probably best. But it costs, of course. If you can wait, no doubt you'd get better deals, esp if something else which is even better comes on the market!!

Great review. How is the image stabilization while walking?
@@jment34 stabilization is good. Just have to pay attention to the 4th axis which is the up and down that happens when you walk, but overall it’s good

DJI Pocket 3 pixel size is nearly the size that A6700 has. I tested outdoor walking in the dark where snowy areas and some light with Pocket 2 and 3 and difference is huge. P3 can see nearly in the total darkness. Anyway Pocket 2 image is super good in good light anyway. Proper light is important with photos and videos.

Hi Otto, You are my favorite reviewer of all time ;). I already own pocket 2 and wanted to get pocket 3 but then the combo version does not include the DJI mic as it did for pocket 2. So decided not to buy as I use DJI mic and won't buy the pocket 3 until the combo includes the DJI mic. The build quality of pocket 2 is also better than pocket 3.

The vdo is really useful... Iam looking forwrd to by a cam for vloging... And felt this really helpful... But still I have a doubt can i shoot vertical vdos with DJI Osmo pocket 2? Iam a beginner so i think i can go with pocket 2... Please clear my doubt and give a suggestion
You can rotate the handle but it feels unnatural to me and you get limited, for example you can’t easily set it on the table without additional gear. The Pocket 3 will shoot at 3K but overall it’s better. If price is not an inconvenience, I’d take the Pocket 3

Mainly shoot walking tour videos for fun with my iPhones on a gimbal but borrowed a Pocket 2 and was amazed how discreet it was, especially here in the Philippines where many areas are not too safe if you are walking around with an expensive phone in open sight, so thought about getting one. Looked at the Pocket 3 in a store and it looked a lot bigger to me, purely in terms of walking videos it seemed to lose the advantage of being discreet. For vlogging would probably still prefer to use my phones on a gimbal because you can actually see yourself properly. Just my opinion.
yeah the P3 is slightly bigger but still can pass as a discreet camera in my experience, but you are right, safety and not drawing attention comes as a very important thing nowadays... Thanks for sharing your thoughts

no, mic from Pocket 2 is not compatible with Pocket 3. You can use 2 DJI MIC-2 on the Pocket 3 at the same time
May I ask something? which of these (doesn't have to be the ones in the video) but of these small video cameras would you recommend for recording food videos ? my requirements are good color reproduction and a sharp image? thinking of buying an osmo action 4, can you recommend a camera? not too expensive, but for approx. max. $500 i am a newbeginner, thanks.
@@N4C20 hi. Food videos are usually going to be indoors. I recommend a real camera maybe the ZV-E10 ($800), or a canon M50. But small cameras the P3 is the winner for low light (indoors)

At 02:06 , see how your face has a lot more detail with the pocket 2 vs the pocket 3? Look at your lips and chin area especially. This is what I found, the pocket 2 seems to have more detail than the 3 even with a smaller sensor.
I can see the same if you look at the hairs on his eyebrows they are clearer and individual on the Pocket 2 and more smoothed smudged on the Pocket 3 , still the 3 is a great camera if you have the money lol
I saw the same. The pocket 3 has a slightly plastic cartoon-like rendering of skin on these examples. Skin colour also looked more natural on pocket 2.

Otto do you know how to gix gimbal protection error? mine happened today and I tried tech support also. Got creator combo on a flash deal 929 Canadian. Bit of bummer thanks
Did it use to work or is it brand new? Try to make sure that there is nothing preventing the gimbal from turning on. You can manually unlock the gimbal before turning it on and move the axis freely, inspect if there is some resistance due to an imperfection or spec of dust. Once you have it in position, try turning it on.
Going to buy that’s why I came here to know which one is good and suitable for my money😂 to spending. That’s I take the review first. Thank you for this good information I had idea which one to choose to buy😉

Hello, normally those are reflections on the lens cover. Not much that can be done about them
Trying out the Pocket 2 and can not shoot in best quality and Auto tracker, guess I like my Action much Better if asked. I can at least see the screen.

I have Pocket 2, but in some review of Pocket 3 I saw (think it was wrong described at watched video, it was no informative) that had AI Tracking advanced option, that can to do a frame composition with tracking object. Works like - hold tracking object at Left/Center/Right of shoting frame. (like if blogger something presenting, and it will be good when tracking object (human) will be on side of frame instead center).
Can you check and confirm that option. Or may I wrong?

the feature is called dynamic framing, it places 9 boxes on your screen and you can select which box you want the subject to be framed in. The pocket will track that point when the subject enters it.

I want pocket 3 for orientation coz i lioe to record like on phones, dji2 its very uncomfortable n awkward to hold but already have pocket2 n i find myself barely using it juat beacuse of the orientation hindrance. I acnt spend ankther 500+ when i already spent 300+ on pocket 2 😭😭😭😭
