you don't need internet connection to use the app. The app has most of the features that you can use on the gimbal, a bit easier to setup since you get a bigger screen
Excellent tutorial my man! Just one question for you .. how do i keep the pocket locked to shoot in vertical mode even after i’ve sat the device back down to be stationary ? it always turns back to horizontal as soon as i tilt the device back, even with the lock setting on.
the natural position is to be in horizontal mode. If you are tilting the camera to a side to get vertical shots, your range of movement will be very limited, and reaching that limit will return the camera to the original position
Thanks for this, I'm going over your stuff video by video. FYi, my brand new Pocket 2 doesn't have the STORY or HDRvideo options on the camera. Were they only on the old ones?

Vertical mode using the pocket 2 on a side? Follow mode is good but there is no “correct” mode. The best mode is the one that fits your shooting style or needs
Hi Otto! Great video. Will you be posting any review/tutorial on the waterproof case for the DJI Pocket 2? I'm not sure if it's necessary if filming in light rain under an umbrella, or if it's just for underwater shots.
Hello Nikki! I don't have the case, and that is mostly for underwater shots. if you are shooting under an umbrella with just light rain you'll be fine. Just don't get the Pocket 2 too wet?
What about the mic though? I'll see if that might be covered in your previous video if I can find it... or maybe its straightforward. But when its best to use it and situations when you wouldn't. I have seen one video where someone used a plug in style. Thanks for the great video though. Took notes and noted time-stamps for future use. Actually waiting to see if the Pocket 3 will be coming out next month before I get too attached.
hi, thank you! I hope the Pocket 3 gets released soon, it would be a nice surprise if it came out in the next months! Regarding the mic, an external microphone is recommended if you want better audio, if you have the do-it-all-handle then you can use any 3.5mm microphone. The internal microphone on the Pocket 2 is just ok, but just make sure not to cover the microphone holes
Hi. Love your video. I’m a newbie. When I hold down my function button the fumble does not go forward. Only selfie mode. Do I need to have the sd card in for that to work?

No there is no crop. Battery saver is recommended instead of “high quality”. I also recommend 4K as this will give you the highest quality. And yes, there is a difference between 4K and lower resolutions
Wow! I was about ready to sent my Pocket 2 back. The printed instructions are almost unreadable! I look at some other YT videos but they were not very helpful. Then I found yours. So simple. Thanks!
Excellent introduction. I was blessed to be able to buy one brand new with creator kit for just $80. I’ve never owned a gimbal before. Is there a best gimbal mode to use for general video making, or do I need to just play with the different modes? Thank you 🙏
I just bought pocket 2 recently. I watched all your pocket 2 movies , it's great. Let's me know more about the pocket 2. I have a question. How can I play the pocket 2 video to TV directly?
My question is "can this replace my old DSLR. What do u suggest?" I have a Nikon D5300 which is getting outdated.. I have a Fuji XT4 as my main camera and I am looking for a secondary camera.. Can the pocket 2 be my second camera?
hello! the pocket 2 is not a replacement for a DSLR camera and the pictures are not too good if you compare both kind of cameras. For video it will be a nice addition to your lineup
@@OttoJulian_ hello thank you for such a prompt reply. I appreciate it. 😊 Like I told u I want a secondary camera specifically for video.. I mostly do music videos and short films. For those videos, many a times, I need a camera that can record "Behind the scenes, Vlogs etc". In that matter can the pocket 2 replace by old DSLR?
hello Notun! so sorry to hear that. I have never had that problem with my Pocket 2. I always suggest getting a good brand for SD cards, and buy from a trusty store, there are many counterfeit memory cards out there that will last for a few days.
I've bought a 1tb San Disk Portable SSD. Can I upload to this from the camera with a lead? I bought it to back up from my phone which you can do apparently but want it for this instead perhaps.🤔
The wrap around gopro mount block the joystick slot. I want to use a chest mount while cycling but its pointing towards the ground. How do I adjust the camera upwards in the field without the joystick?
Chris, you can set the slider on the screen to be used as a zoom or to tilt the camera up and down. If you have access to the screen you could use that feature, otherwise you need access to the joystick and/or buttons.
Was there any glitches/slow response from the app itself when using the gimbal wirelessly with the phone? About going to Best Buy to get one for my trip next week. Thanks.
The video quality is great but the sound isn’t. I use this camera along with three other regular cameras for weddings. I then sync them up on my software by sound wave patterns but the waves on the DJI are so small and minimal it’s hard to make a sync. Any suggestions to improve the sound?
the only solution I see here is if you have the do-it-all-handle, connect the wireless mic that comes on the creator combo or any external mic. If you don't have the do-it-all-handle, you might want to consider buying it, should be less than $100
hi Otto, thank you for your video. I find on the DJI site that the pocket2 supports SD cards till 256GB. But I had not seen this when I ordered my SD card, and bought a 512GB. I inserted the 512, formatted the card, and it seems to work fine. I'm taking - for the first time - the Pocket2 out on a trip, and do not have type to order another 256GB card... do you think I will have issues with this 512GB card?
@@OttoJulian_ I did try to record a dozen shots, and so far all seem to work... will continue to record more and see if I run into trouble. As alternative, I only have a 32GB card here from a GoPro before (all the rest are full size SD cards, used in camcorders)... Would you happen to know how many minutes a 32GB card would store if I record 4K/50p ?
Great video, I'm looking for a camera like this but I don't have, or want a smartphone. I just wanted a camera that I can film with that I can then put on my MacBook. It's a shame because I really like this camera. I'm a complete beginner at videoing and now I think I just as well film on my iPad unless you can help me find a camera that is extra simple for a duffer like me.
You only need a smartphone to activate and update the firmware, the simple solution is to ask a friend or a family member to lend you their phone for about 5 mins and you won’t need it anymore
Joshua, you can do that, or you can wait until the Pocket 3 arrives which I think will have an easier way to shoot vertical. Problem is, we don't know for sure when it's coming out. I suspect it will be soon but without confirmation it's hard to know
Sir how do you export videos you made in the Dji Pocket 2 to your phone in an editing software such as Capcut? I use capcut to edit my videos as an aspiring content creator.
Thanks for the review because I forgot about some of these things since I don't use them often. I need to make a "One Year of using DJI Osmo Pocket 2" review video. I really enjoy using this camera but there are things with it that make me say "Why did you make it like that??!!!" :)
@@OttoJulian_ Thank you! One last one: can I use a Maono wireless mic system with lavalier with the pocket 2? I tried googling but no luck so far, seems like it would only work with the DJI wireless mic?
great video, i have a osmo 2 poket and with your video i discover new functions, the bigest discovery to turn on from fron button, until now i start and press tree time to change video mode, this is game changer for me :D
Can you help me better understand Tilt vs Follow? I want to get smooth, straight pans and definitely keep the subject centered. My hands shake some and I have to force myself to go slow. I want it smooth and even. When I use Follow, it seems to not want to stay on the subject and it's hard for me to keep the subject centered. FPV seems to just go all over the place and not stay straight at all. Maybe I just need lots of practice. Love your videos BTW.
Thanks for your kind feedback S. Yeah I don’t use FPV because of the same reasons, and the difference between follow and tilt, is that with tilt the camera can move up, down, left or right. With follow it only moves left and right (tilt is locked so no up or down movements). That’s it in a nutshell. For what I can gather on your comment, you need to use follow if you need to adjust the camera to keep the subject in the center. Yes, it takes practice because you need to slowly “twist” the pocket 2 body to achieve that movement. Hope this helps a bit
Thanks for these wonderful videos. I'm considering getting the pocket 2, but I'm not sure if I should get the creator combo. I'm worried that it's too small without the do-it-all handle so that my hands will accidentally push the buttons. I want to use it for long walks. Do you think it would be an issue to hold it for extended periods? Thanks in advance!
Hi. I wouldn’t worry about touching the buttons. This is not a camera that you grab with your whole hand, and if you need an extra support at the bottom you can attach a mini tripod. The creator combo is good if you intend to use their microphone, if you need to attach a regular mic, or if you need to connect to the mimo app remotely
@@OttoJulian_ Thanks for your answer. I think I will have to grab it with my whole hand since I'm planning to do long walks with it. I'll think about it some more :-).
I bought the pocket without the creator combo but ended up buying the do it all handle, the tripod and I want to buy the mic now after a year. So I recommend buying the whole set.
@@OttoJulian_ Yeah I saw a video about it. Kind of sucks I thought it did vertical but it's cool I'll make it work. Your video was super useful I had no idea how to set everything up.
Hi Otto, another great video. I've already seen all your videos about Dji Pocket 2 and your great videos convinced me that I bought one last year. I'm a beginner but I've made some good videos. Can you perhaps show how I can make "Dolly-zoom" and with what setting. Thanks in advance.
Hello Fars, that has been requested a few times and I'll work on that video. I have a few on my queue that I need to get done so I'll try to as soon as possible
@@OttoJulian_ Hi Otto, great, I'm looking forward to it. Your videos are always so simple and clear and understandable, even for me who doesn't speak perfect English :-) Greetings from Hamburg
hi. You need to connect the receiver to the Pocket 2 (on the do-it-all-handle) using a 3.5mm cable, then connect the transmitter with the receiver. Plugging the receiver to the USB-C port will not work
Creator combo has a wireless mic and the do it all handle which allows to connect the wireless mic or a standard mic, and allows connection to the phone app wirelessly
My issue is the camera language is set to either Japanese or Chinese, and I need help getting it to English, do you have any suggestions, ( I know this should be very basic but I cant get it to English.)
swipe down on the main screen. select the setting icon (rounded gear). Swipe to the right side and select the lower-right icon. first option is the language, and first option is english.
Thanks for the great video. I got mine a week ago but it’s honestly so hard to see through this little screen. I filmed a video inside unboxing some things and used the DJI pocket 2 but it turned out bad. For some reason. It heats up fast and maybe it’s not that good to film indoors ;( thinking about returning it and just use my phone. Why does your footage look so good? What am I doing wrong? I filmed in de cinelac and when I edited it it was hard to add the color. Could you do another tutorial for beginners how to set it up for great video shooting. Thanks. Mary
hello Mary! on my video I explain how to set to battery saver mode. Use that instead of high quality. I would also recommend using normal color profile and just adjust on post (This depending on your experience to work with flat color profiles). When indoors using 4K 24fps helps quite a bit. I'll be making a video like you suggested very soon. Thanks! Hope this helps
@@GipsyDean natural motion blur. 60 fps will give you the soup opera effect which doesn’t look as pleasing, but if you are used to 60 there is no problem at all. Second, 24fps will make the pocket 2 shoot at a lower shutter speed, and that will help with low light. 60 fps should be used when you are going to slow the footage down when editing. (Assuming your timeline is at 24fps as well). With that being said, if your timeline is 60fps then you should record at 60fps as well

the only solution I see here is if you have the do-it-all-handle, connect the wireless mic that comes on the creator combo or any external mic. If you don't have the do-it-all-handle, you might want to consider buying it, should be less than $100
Is there a feature on the Osmo where you can see how much record time is left and how do I get to it?????
I don't think so
Your videos are great and easy to follow!
Glad you think so!
Hi Otto, I was having looking through for some tips on how to use the Pocket 2 and your video is awesome. Your video is very informative!
Hello Michelle!! Thanks!
Thank you. VERY helpful & straight-forward. 😁👍
Glad it was helpful!
does your dji pocket 2 heat up quickly? I find it pretty hot within turning on in a couple of minutes
it does get warm-hot, but it's normal
hi Otto, thank you for your video.
I would test it out just to be sure before your trip (just record anything at home for several minutes).
Sir,during video mode,can I flip the camera?
hello Noli, yes you can
I'm sharing this link to my lucky friend who won a Pocket 2 last Christmas!
wow that was lucky that he won one! thanks for sharing!
Most useful beginner tutorial so far!!
Glad it was helpful!
If I am going to use this camera mostly for tik tok, do you encourage me to use the video in vertical mode?
Joshua, you can do that, or you can wait until the Pocket 3 arrives which I think will have an easier way to shoot vertical. Problem is, we don't know for sure when it's coming out. I suspect it will be soon but without confirmation it's hard to know
@@OttoJulian_ Okay, thank you for the comment!
Can you switch the camera to portrait position?
if you tilt the handle yeah but it's very limiting for different reasons
@@OttoJulian_I see. I think it's not very comfortable to hold the handle when tilting
No it’s not
Sir how do you export videos you made in the Dji Pocket 2 to your phone in an editing software such as Capcut? I use capcut to edit my videos as an aspiring content creator.
Mimo app
Brilliant video Otto, will be using this tutorial when I get filming pretty soon! Some great tips in there! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks for the review because I forgot about some of these things since I don't use them often. I need to make a "One Year of using DJI Osmo Pocket 2" review video. I really enjoy using this camera but there are things with it that make me say "Why did you make it like that??!!!" :)
yeah I guess sometimes we do forget about some things! Thanks for watching
@@OttoJulian_ Just a lot of the features that I don't regularly use. 😆
What setting is best for walking selfie vlogs? FPV? Thanks again for incredibly aesthetic and pleasant tutorials! - S
hello Thank you!! may I recommend this video? ruclips.net/video/fCo3ZnxdbxA/видео.html
Glad it helped!
i just have the osmo pocket will the osmo pocket 2 adapter work for me?
Hi, which adapter do you mean? The do-it-all-handle?
So so helpful - thank you!!!
you are welcome!
Do you have to plug in the smart phone to set it up?
yes you need to connect the P2 to the mimo app to activate it
if your P2 is not new you won't have to do it
When you attach protective glass to magnetic lenses tend to fall off. Any suggstionss
Hi Peter, not really since I never used protective glass on the Pocket 2
If shooting at low-light, this camera is definitely the best in the category!
yeah it's quite good between similar cameras
Is pocket 2 mic good enough?
Its good enough. You should watch the video “Pocket 2 vs GoPro 10” there is an audio test there
I bought the pocket without the creator combo but ended up buying the do it all handle, the tripod and I want to buy the mic now after a year. So I recommend buying the whole set.
is it ok if dji head sounds 'knock' when we turned it off? its just like there is a little impact between head and body
Yeah it’s normal
Can we film in vertical ratio instead of horizontal ratio?
Yeah but you need to hold it in a horizontal position. Not sure if that makes sense
@@OttoJulian_ Yeah I saw a video about it. Kind of sucks I thought it did vertical but it's cool I'll make it work. Your video was super useful I had no idea how to set everything up.
@dannylifted9441 that’s good to hear! Thanks and I hope you enjoy it
I was a beginner but after watched almost all your videos now i feel Pro... 😂 you're the boss.
Happy to hear that, thanks for sharing!
Your videos are always so simple and clear and understandable, even for me who doesn't speak perfect English :-)
Greetings from Hamburg
Please make an updated 2024 tutorial. I am considering it. Thanks
Hi. This video got updated from the original one. Not sure if I’d do an update as everything is still the same.
Does it have pause while recording? Thanks
yes the Pocket 2 does
Hey i try to connect the dji mic to the dji pocket 2 but mine it dont have the microphone part do u know why
hi. You need to connect the receiver to the Pocket 2 (on the do-it-all-handle) using a 3.5mm cable, then connect the transmitter with the receiver. Plugging the receiver to the USB-C port will not work
Bro question should i buy pocket 2 or the creator combo? What's the difference though... Thanks
Creator combo has a wireless mic and the do it all handle which allows to connect the wireless mic or a standard mic, and allows connection to the phone app wirelessly
Do you know how to disable creating LRF files on DJI osmo pocket 2 ? I don’t need them.
hi, as far as I know and for what I've read from DJI staff, there is no way to turn that off
@@OttoJulian_ understood ((((
Hi I checked . Sd card was not available. Is it not with this kit?
no it's not included with the kit
My issue is the camera language is set to either Japanese or Chinese, and I need help getting it to English, do you have any suggestions, ( I know this should be very basic but I cant get it to English.)
swipe down on the main screen. select the setting icon (rounded gear). Swipe to the right side and select the lower-right icon. first option is the language, and first option is english.
You explained extremely amazingly super dupper bravo!!! Thanks for the sharing
You're so welcome!
Just bought a used one and i love it 🙌🏽
Nice!
I looked at a used dji pocket 2 and it seems to overheat after about 15 minuits is this normal for this camera or do you think it has a falt ?
it is normal for it to get warm to the touch. It shouldn't get hot to the point that it shuts down
@@OttoJulian_ Thanks for the information.
You are welcome
How can I remove the display info that is hardcoded on my videos with my pocket 2?
Turn off subtitles on your editor
With that being said, if your timeline is 60fps then you should record at 60fps as well
Thank you for making this video, you really brought it for us.
Glad it was helpful!
Good video but can it transfer photo/video to smartphone automatically?
On the mimo app you can transfer the files. Wirelessly if you have the do-it-all-handle or connected with the phone plug that it comes with
