This guy: Check your mobo manual to see which key to press, or google it.
Linus: Press all of them, one will be the right one.
Look at the screen on boot up, it will usually tell you which keys work
It's F2, F10 or Delete. Smashing three buttons is less work than googling it.
Edit: I stand corrected, there's a few other keys it could be.
@@Ikxi I usually end up having to reboot 2-3 times because there are multiple F keys listed for different things and the window shows up for like 0.1s
Or, if you're not sure which button press F12 instead. That's normaly the boot menu button which will let you choose to boot into BIOS or boot from a different drive.

Should be noted for people that:
DDR5 kits aren't sold in 4 packs of DIMMs for a reason. You CANT use XMP profiles (yet) on most boards because the bandwidth is too great and it will cause errors, crashes and instability.
Hopefully this helps someone, i did weeks of reformats and troubleshooting only to find this out. I kept the 4 DIMMs though (I'm a video editor and need the capacity, not necessarily the speed).
Yeh I got 4x g skill 7800. Sad now.
@@TheRealXartaX if you dont need the capacity for a workstation and want the speed for gaming, return a kit, and invest the $200 you get back. You'll thank yourself in 2024.
I really dont know why LTT or J2C haven't done a video on this. People look at the compatibility list on their boards site, see it listed, buy 2 kits and it breaks their boot. Most boards site info & manuals do NOT dtate you cant overclock 4 DIMMs. I feel this is leading to people needlessly RMAing boards that are fine and causing headaches no one needs.
@@KobraTrading two is $550 here.
That said, I went for 64gb because my old 32gb struggled hard with capacity and I went to 64gb. Just gotta hope a BIOS update improves it I guess.

Note that starting Zen4(X670,B650,A620), AMD's DOCP is now EXPO.
Just remember that using XMP or DOCP counts as overclocking and it voids any applicable AMD or Intel warranties. But also remember that its still okay to use XMP or DOCP to get more performance and both companies often have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy about memory overclocking.
i tried it the xmp profile on the a new ram and you i immediately started seeing some green dots on my screen
@@hassanadel5659 That sounds like a GPU issue, rather than a RAM one. If your GPU is a dedicated card, test it in another PC. If it is an integrated one, then I dunno.
As long as you set your XMP profile to match the indicated speed indicated by your RAM, it should be fine. No RAM kit in the world will run at its marketed/advertised speeds out of the box; those are the "overclocked" speeds. You have to manually set the memory profile to those indicated speeds otherwise they'll run the default JEDEC speeds instead (as this video shows).
Did this when I built my PC back in 2021, rocking a Ryzen 5 4650G and two 8 GB 3200 MHz sticks... It used to crash at least once a month. I setted it back to 2666 and it never crashed again
Another tip, remember that anything over 6000mhz with AM5 will not have the infinity fabric properly synchronized on a scale of 1:1
Basically anything over 6000mhz can have worse performance even with better timings
Wow luckily I never had the budget to spend a lot of money for that

I like to blow tech people's minds by calmly holding down the BIOS or boot menu key instead of spamming it.
EDIT: Yes, this does work on all [modern] computers. People spam the key because different systems/keyboards initialize differently. Some don't register a key held down prior to POST initializing the kb as a key press. You have to time your calm key press to be right after the kb is brought up, and then the kb's repeat rate does the spamming for you.
have you tried pressing the button 1 time when the screen says to press it?
@ThePopeofPoland1 I have, and it doesn't work on all computers. Some make you time it just right. If you have fast boot turned on or a really fast ssd, sometimes that screen lasts barely any time at all. I've had it just flash before and be gone. Some bios's are easier than others. I've also tried the hold down thing before and that also doesn't work on all computers
The messiah
Boring
I think I've tried that on a laptop before and it didn't work
Keep in mind that sometimes it doesn't work and you'll end up with pc turning on but no display and you can't go back into bios because of black screen, in that case you'll have to clear CMOS, to put back all bios settings into default.
It should be punishable by death if your BIOS key isn't Delete

My PC has ESC as BIOS key, and my BIOS is actually super old American Megatrends BIOS…
I used to think that if I pressed the delete button it would delete my entire pc

My ryzen 5 2400g is running ram @ 3200 with the cheapest a320 mobo ever, it's the durathon from ECS. Xmp isn't the best way to get higher ram clocks. Just set the speed and timmings manually, and set the comand rate to 1T. My 2x8gb sticks of ram were only rated for 2666.

Sounds like you need a bios update.
Same on me. Bios reset and keep it Standart then, or go a step down with the MHz clock
What they left out was that sometimes RAM won’t run at it’s rated speed. The cause can be just the RAM, or the particular and motherboard combination.
In those cases, you can find a slower speed that it will run at. Unplug your computer and remove CMOS battery to go back to default settings. Re-install the battery and plug your computer back in. Then start your computer and go back to the BIOS settings. Try a speed slightly less than the rated speed of the memory until you find one that your memory is stable at.

XMP is overclocking so it shouldnt be a problem intel cpus only support 4800Mhz (DDR5) 3200Mhz(DDR4) But You can use any ram that is compatable with the motherboard most of the time
Fun fact, if your motherboard allows it you can go even higher than what the module can, I have a 1333MHz and a 1600MHz modules on dual channel, while XMP by default sets the 1600MHz to that over and overclocks the 1333 to that speed, they can actually go up to 1866MHz through overclock, tho, probably the 1600 module can go higher but the 1333 one keeps it from doing so

@threadd then why did my pc get stable after I stopped using docp? If it was bad memory or slots wouldn't that cause a problem all the time?
@@Wolverine_onYTTV i've had an issue with my motherboard where the ram sticks would run fine underclocked (turned off docp). turning on docp would not let the pc post most of the time, and when it did post, it would crash in desktop after less than 30 mins. i thought it was bad sticks at first, but when the same happened with another kit, i looked it up and found out the slots could cause the problem too. i got another mobo of the same exact model, now i run those same sticks overclocked 600mhz above the docp profile, with tighter timings :D
