That camera on the desk with the cine lens is so close to yeeting itself into a camera repair shop I can't concentrate on any of the pure gold advice being dropped in this vid.
This video hit home immediately. It forced me to be honest with what I do everyday and what value I can bring to those in my field. Thank you for the perspective wake-up call.
The Tripod on the edge of table flared up my anxiety. Was too focused on it the first time watching the video, had to rewatch. 10/10 for getting more view time.
This was the video I needed to see today. Thank you for your candid words and content. I’m retiring from the Army next year and trying to become a content creator full-time. You answered so many questions I had and didn’t know I had.
I get a fair amount of emails every week for various sponsors but finding the ones that are fair is very challenging. Equally challenging to accept a sponsor that my audience will like.
Great advice Harris! I appreciate that you are vulnerable enough to share this information with others. I like that you put the emphasis on being “an influencer” instead of a a convincing voice, and say no to things that you personally don’t think will make a positive impact on people rather than just chasing the paycheck from any sponsor who offers one.
I don't know if you changed your layout or it's just the fact that your camera catches more of your surrounding, or even the subject, but I loved this video. It felt way more relaxed and friendly. Love that.
Love this deep dive, thank you for a peek behind the curtain. I think many of us are in the same boat of seeing sponsorships as a sign of “I made it” when I think your gentle reminder of spending time doing other things is huge and something that cannot be taken for granted!
as an emerging content creator coming from the twitch DJ/spirituality scene, it's so great to hear you speak on the importance of integrity! so often i see content creators, even ones i love, take sponsors that i know aren't probably the best simply because they are getting paid. while i understand people need to secure the bag, i think maintaining integrity over short term profits creates more trust with yourself, your viewers, and allows for greater stability/security in the longterm because you are building on a foundation of truth. i definitely think your success is in a large part due to your commitment to authenticity, and i'm grateful to see you using your platform to promote these values and show whats possible when you embody them. if every content creator were to hold themselves to such standards, i think it would improve conditions in the creator economy substantially.
Harris I'd love to hear your input on contracts for sponsors. I've been approached by a few outside of the US and I always get psyched out wondering if they're secure and legit. Always scares me as well with the idea of giving my social security number for tax purposes. How do you vet out sponsors to know they're 100% legit? What information is typically given when you do work with them? Guidance on this would be greatly appreciated I'm sure by soooooo many of us, myself included. Thank you so much for the great content as always my friend, this video is spectacular!
As someone who has done some sponsorships, even long term, with very small numbers i couldn't agree more. Views or suscribers don't matter as much as your real influence over your niche.
Thanks for this Harris. I feel like I am at the point to start sponsorships on my social media platforms. So this video got some ideas flowing. Great stuff mate!
Great content, as always. This one, in particular, is so applicable beyond the content creator community. This is simply, straight forward advise for any small business or sole proprietor. I recently stepped away from corporate work and into consulting and business management and I've found that I get so much more work from relationships and references that from cold calling. This was a re-invigorating and inspiring reminder for me for what's important and where to focus my energy. Thanks again.
As someone who has actually known you before all this, I have to say I am in awe of what you have achieved and I would tell anyone to heed your advice. As always you are such a good dude!
111% Spot On Brother. While yes, as a 3D Animator/Graphic Designer, charging what you're worth and not being taken advantage of are HUGE. BUT - I would be hard pressed to stop a meet and greet or NOT go above and beyond because that mentality is in my blood. I believe that many are lacking in the gratitude department who say do what you're paid to do and go home. It's a bitter way to view these things. Love It, thank you so much for speaking on this!
Harris, you think we can get another webcam roundup video for 2023? Lots of good new options like the Ankerwork c310, Emeet streamcam one, price decreases on Razer and avermedia, etc.
This was... Wow. I did not expect to see a video where all parts hit me this good. It is nice to see that I am on the right track when it comes to this particular topic. And yes, "engaging with the community you love" is my thinking way as well when it comes to this. I'd 100% do what Harris did in Paris. Let me give you an example: I was a cosplayer about 10~15 years ago. No big name or one with that many followers, but I was one who was quite involved in the whole community. I went to A LOT of conventions in a year. At one point, I had about 250 travel days in a year. At first, it was just a hobby, but I then got invites (as a judge/panel speaker/host) to small and bigger cons that I went to. What I noticed was that A LOT of those big stars/guests (cosplayer, artists, actors etc.), did not engage that much with the community, except only during their panels/meet n greets. They stuck to their schedule and then they escaped the con and/or went to stay in their booth and/or explore the city. For me, however, it was the exact opposite. I engaged. A lot. Whenever I had a panel/meet n greet/something, I actually ALWAYS went well past the scheduled time. And while others preferred to sit and relax, I was pretty much all over the place. I just loved engaging with the community that much. Not just in terms of networking, but also with people who just wanted photos or to just have a chat. Because that is what I did: I had A LOT of FUN TIME doing that, because I loved the community that much. What did that give me in return? Well, a lot more than I thought it would, actually. Not only did I get more convention invitations, but also the possibility to travel, see new places and meet even more communities and people that made my journeys memorable. It also gave me the possibility to build bridges between events and countries. Yep, it sure was well worth the whole totality of what I got in return. That's why the last 3 pointers Harris talks about struck me so good and I couldn't help but to agree with those pointers 100%, word for word! Dedication and effort towards something you love doing will definitely help you achieve your goals + it will benefit you in future events as well. That's why I believe in that IF you'll ever be so fortunate to get a paid trip by a sponsor, respect, honour and appreciate that possibility by making the extra effort by doing what Harris did; be all over the place, engage with the whole community, explore and talk. Thank you for great views on this, Harris, and another great video. :)
Have to say after meeting u at twitchcon Paris It was defos one of the most inspiring convos I've had to be a creator but it was the replying to my tweet of u after that made me feel u were more human than just a content creator to look up to! thank u for that ♥
I honestly 100% agree with you on this. One of the other rules that .. eventually I'll adhere to .. do your homework on the brand before you take a sponsorship. Some brands will shell out insane amounts to get big creators to so they love the product - but if you look at real customer reviews the product stinks. Don't cheapen yourself for an easy pay. Don't .. Raid Shadow Legend .. your channel. Accept a sponsor you can feel confident in, and excited to share with your audience. As always, Harris .. I appreciate your down to earth advice and transparency. Even if your agent hates it when you're THAT transparent ;)
Most down to earth advice on the topic. Especially the integrity part. There's nothing more pathetic than begging to be recognized. Let your work speak for itself. :)
Dude it was so cool getting to chat with you at TC Vegas! If I can ask one favor though...maybe slouch next time, just like a little bit. My fragile ego writes checks that my average height can't cash.
I got no thoughts behind these eyes 😂 but forreal thank you for the encouragement and inspiration. Been subbed and watching for nearly 4 or so years and I am always grateful for your wisdom. 💙
Integrity... one reason you’re one of my favorite creators. I also second that good brands will look for creators that have influence in a niche around there service or product. Meaning some brands may hire a creator that sees high engagement on product A with 50,000 subscribers versus a creator with 500,000 subscribers that sees engagement on the general industry of that niche/product. And Harris is proof college isn’t a waste if you implement your learnings wisely. Thanks for constantly delivering amazing content, brother!
That one wasn't even sponsored by the teleprompter, it was sponsored by Sizzle lol. Rarely is the product I'm talking about the sponsor of the video since it's hard to give an unbiased review that way.
Great video! Question: I was wondering when the "here's something free for you to review" emails turn into "we would like to sponsor a video" emails? I'm only approaching 5K subs and I get only the former, but after watching this video, I really appreciate the "influence over numbers" advice.
"The world's most Ok'est gamer"😂😂 I feel that 🤘 You are like the Gary Vee of gaming. This was a very insightful video. I particularly like how you touch on longevity vs instant gratification without specifically saying it. I try to watch at least one video of your's a day, even your older videos. I appreciate your work, brotha 🔥 Keep Shred'n 🤘
I do agree that one should go above and beyond, but I feel like your pitch at 6:10 misreads the "Know your worth" concept. It's more about working to it's limits for other people who will take advantage of it and never think otherwise - or worse yet, come to expect it and will penalize you if you fail to deliver. Cooperating with sponsorships as an influencer would be working for yourself, so going above and beyond is completely normal.
I am now getting a few sponsors a month on my other channel and the biggest issue I'm running into is the price point for each video and how different they are. I feel like I need a better system of consistency. How does one determine the correct dollar amount to agree on?
As an aspiring content creator, this video is immensely valuable. Thank you for making this and I hope to actually be able to use this advice one day. Lol
I appreciate this video Harris. As a very small creator there has been many times that I have tried to do sponsorships with companies but I have received the rejection from all except one because they are invested in my community and what I do. For these bigger companies, it makes me really think how my content can tie in with them.
what a great video as always harris def love how u put things and im sure ur gonna help alot of people in this journey thanks again for always giving us some advice in this content creation world
Any chance you could offer advice on how to present yourself to a potential sponsor? For example, what data/value to show them when getting ready for the 99% portion of "nos" hahaha
Great video. Rule #3 is so important. I was thinking about it last week and I realized, "I stopped hanging out with my community outside of my streams. I really should get back into that." And now to add Rule #6. Always have Pokémon playing on Netflix in the background. Your audience will love you for it! 😄 Of coarse, I'm joking about that last part.
All this is further complicated by the extreme amount of Payola going on in the content creation space these days. There are so many companies asking creators to "review" their product, but only if the review is positive and the company is allowed to dictate what the reviewer does and doesn't say.
I'm watching that tripod leg just at the border of your desk... And its driving me INSANE!!! One little shake and down goes the camera... btw love your videos ♥
When I got to the part about Integrity I went to click the Like button... But I already had and I was upset that there was not another like button to click lol
Sir, I am buying the speed editor board and the studio version will be there with it,,, I have a question,, does the studio version is life time update free? or I have to pay after one year or after some major updates? i am confused,, pls reply,,,
Integrity, without it, nothing works. Well shared Harris. One point as well on the emailing 100s of companies, chances are you haven't really looked at the ones that make sense to partner with. The chances that all 100 or more of those companies have a product or products that you truly believe in the value of, while also being relevant to your audience, is very slim. It lacks integrity.
Although I've given up on the idea of ever being a successful content creator at this current stage in my life, I still love watching all of your videos. The advise is always from the heart, and is what many people need to hear. Keep up the great work.
Great information for a small channel like mine. I've been reached out to by 4 vendors asking me to review their products. One product I just couldn't get comfortable with and told them it would be an honest review or nothing at all. I'm so glad now that I didn't do that video. Thanks for the confirmation that I did the right thing.
Hey I have some feedback for the channel. Whenever youre playing music that makes things more sentimental and meaningful, like in this video, I get kinda taken out of it whenever the intro plays. Im not an audio engineer or anything, but just my feedback.
There's definitely some brands I would love to have sponsor, but I'm nowhere near the level of a good content creator. The amount of time and effort put into streams and videos is just something I'll not likely ever have. But it's fun to dream about. haha
good advice. I turn down quite a few offers to review products every week. I don't accept anything I don't think holds potential to be on brand or useful to my audience. I don't want to be fake or propping up a bad product or a product that's not good value.

You'll probably never see this but @ 8:30 integrity was misspelled. Your expensive editors let that slip by
That camera on the desk with the cine lens is so close to yeeting itself into a camera repair shop I can't concentrate on any of the pure gold advice being dropped in this vid.
Thanks Harris! Great advice! You are a good dude and it shows.

Great video, man! Thanks for the insights ✌️😁
I get a fair amount of emails every week for various sponsors but finding the ones that are fair is very challenging. Equally challenging to accept a sponsor that my audience will like.

Glad to see my Twitch comment actually turned into a video, all useful info!
a) Love the vid! Think it's the thing many creators want to hear and NEED to hear.. b) That cam sitting at the edge of the table had me nervous HAHA
Love this deep dive, thank you for a peek behind the curtain. I think many of us are in the same boat of seeing sponsorships as a sign of “I made it” when I think your gentle reminder of spending time doing other things is huge and something that cannot be taken for granted!

agreed would love a video on this, hard to weed out those emails sometimes.
@XilentFlex i formed an LLC and with that I don't have to give out my SSN, I use the business EIN.
As someone who has done some sponsorships, even long term, with very small numbers i couldn't agree more. Views or suscribers don't matter as much as your real influence over your niche.
This is one of your many videos i watch once every month or so.
Extremely informative with a touch of tough love. Love the videos
Gold content here =) the fact that I’m still watching all your videos even if I don’t/rarely streaming means that they are worth watching =)
Great advice! I hope many future creatives take this advice to heart.
What a down to earth video this was. Felt warm and fuzzy :) Great tips! Here's a cool emoji! ->❄️
Thanks! I've been getting a bunch of emails from potential sponsors, and it's been hard sometimes to determine!
The Sizzle GG prep to transition was so clean that I didn't skip the segment, nice!
thanks for this my friend and insight is so helpful as always x

This is a great video! Lots of real advice on how to take advantage of the blessing of working with great brands! Thanks, Harris!
thank you very much for your work
Another fantastic video. Thanks for the practical advice.
is that a stand up desk you have? and would you do a review on stand up desks, or recommend one harris?
Fantastic advice Harris! 🙏 Luckily it’s hard enough getting content out on the regular without worrying about sponsors!😅
Thanks Harris! good advice!!!
thanks for the video! love to hear you talking

The sponsored video you did for the Prompter was so good! So artfully done. That transition from you to you on the prompter killed me! ☠️
That one wasn't even sponsored by the teleprompter, it was sponsored by Sizzle lol. Rarely is the product I'm talking about the sponsor of the video since it's hard to give an unbiased review that way.
Ahhhh I forgot! And that makes sense. Anyway, I loved the video from an informational perspective but also as an artistic work. Three thumbs up!
I just started getting some offers and its always hard to know what to do, so thank you for this!

I especially agree with the go above and beyond tip
It was freaking me out how close that tripod was to the edge of your desk!
Great video.
Rule #3 is so important. I was thinking about it last week and I realized, "I stopped hanging out with my community outside of my streams. I really should get back into that."

Thoughts on Media Kits? Should Content Creators/Streamers have one or no?
yep, very good outlook, thank you!
Thank you for what you do. Real big eye opener.
Amazing video as always!
Seeing that tripod on the edge of the table is making me nervous thinking that expensive camera is gonna fall any minute now lol
You should make a video about the best budget cameras for 2024 content creation (around a budget from 500-1500 euros)
Thanks for the advice
I haven't been this early ever, idk what to say. Keep up the good work 👍
Hey bruh can you please make a video on how to use the beacn mix create with a shure sm7b

love to see a whole video with a SM58, it's such a bang for you buck mic 👍
Sir, I am buying the speed editor board and the studio version will be there with it,,, I have a question,, does the studio version is life time update free? or I have to pay after one year or after some major updates? i am confused,, pls reply,,,
amazing advice buddy! I couldn't help notice that camera leg is extremely close to the edge... now I'm thinking did you do that on purpose? 😂
Well said! Wish a lot of other creator's had these rules instead of chasing $$$ or free products and selling their soul.
Solid advice.

Once again Harris coming in hot with the solid advice thank you sir
What dumbbell stand are you using?
good stuff. I can relate to your message
Nice vid 👍
There's definitely some brands I would love to have sponsor, but I'm nowhere near the level of a good content creator. The amount of time and effort put into streams and videos is just something I'll not likely ever have. But it's fun to dream about. haha
Cool seeing you use a "classic" mic this time, where everyone uses fancy expensive and often hidden mics.
good advice. I turn down quite a few offers to review products every week. I don't accept anything I don't think holds potential to be on brand or useful to my audience. I don't want to be fake or propping up a bad product or a product that's not good value.
Wicked video, brother
I'm really glad to hear you pay your editors well, even if the videos would lose money without sponsors.
Yo, when is Harris next going live?
