The AP 75 45rpm issue sounds amazing, but I preferred the Miles Showell Abbey Road issue. Much more detail, separation, and amazing low end, especially on “Mediate”. Miles told me his issue of Kick came from a high res digital transfer straight from the original 1/2” master tape stored in Australia. Transferred there on an Ampex ATR-102 with flux heads for better bass response.
I think original tape was digital multi track? And Bob Clearmountain would always transfer the masters to a Sony PCM machine to mix he has stated in many interviews so not a full AAA. I don’t care because your right it sounds amazing but don’t want anyone coming for you head. The VC is petty

Agree INXS' "Kick" clearly has some tracks sounding relatively ordinary and the others are sonic bliss - thankfully they're the best tunes! Thanks for all you do Mike 😊
I know this is controversial…but the Abbey Road 45rpm was also pretty good. This AP 45rpm is king though.

INXS Kick has been the only ATL75 i have preordered so far. Got no. 642 so pretty low after the subscription numbers. Being an Aussie i have a first pressing of this album and the ATL75 blows it away - so happy to have this. The Rhino High Fidelity has been a great series, so far i have ordered all the Rock releases on day of release.

Rhino back in black version of Pantera- cowboys from hell is amazing. Even though it’s 33. They cut the album over 2 records, so only 2 or 3 songs a side. Nothing cut close to the inner groove.

Two great additions! Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the A75s or Rhino HiFi releases.
I was in the store on Friday and Mike was playing the Kick album and I was surprised how great it sounded. His awesome sound system helps but it was rockin. I was really enjoying it.
I would’ve bet one of your additions would’ve been the A75 AP Alice Cooper Welcome To My Nightmare.

Looking at the RHF "Candy-O", the picture of the master tape boxes, are those the album masters or the individual tracks which were spliced together to dub the album masters? When dealing with the album masters, you've got a 3rd generation tape. The pathway is as follows: 1). individual multi-track masters, 2). 1st generation individual mixdown tracks, 3). album master. I just wonder how much better the album might sound if it was made from the 1st gen mixdowns?
Myself, I've got the OG, the Rhino Expanded edition and the RHF.
The INXS, the Atlantic 75 is on order, I have the 12" remix of "New Sensation",and both store stock and promo versions of the 2 singles from the album. It will be interesting to compare. Those promo 45's can sound awesome. These are generally made from the 1st gen mixdown(if the album version was used) or an edited version from possibly the original multi-track, which would make it a 1st gen mixdown.

I agree, that INXS title was a big surprise as to how good it sounded! The Atlantic 75 series has had occasional misses but this one is off the charts. 👍

Even after watching all the reviews, nothing could have prepared me for just how good the INXS actually is, it's mind bogglingly good. Will see if I can grab a Cars now too, may well be from you.
So glad brick and mortar stores are seeing Rhino Hi_Fi series in the wild...not a fan of the d2c model. A75 Inxs Kick cannot be hyped enough...sonically mind blowing...details I never knew were there! While I realize that he does not have a huge fanbase, Intervention Records AAA cuts of Matthew Sweet's first lp's are jaw droppingly good.

I've been waiting on the INXS reissue for ever and it delivers. No, with respect to a different The Cars album (The Cars-The Cars) rhino did a release of that which i missed out on, though I've read some reviews crucifying it. Do you have a favorite pressing of that album? I'm dying to have a high quality version of Moving in Stereo. You're the best!
I bought a Rhino copy of The Cars Candy O, played it and wow was it awesome sounding. I then remembered I had the 2016 Ric Ocasek remaster box set. So I put on the Candy O album from the box set. It gave me goosebumps! It sounds a lot better. I know it’s not analog, but to me it’s about the sound. The Ric Ocasek version will be my go to copy. Incredible and I highly recommend to compare it to the new Rhino and hear for yourself.
The Abbey Road 45 speed by Miles is a crunchy amazing release . IMHO better than the Atlantic or the OG. Have never heard the Mofi. The Miles release is THE BEST.
💯 agree. I have both and preferred the Miles Showell cut. If you have subwoofers, Mediate will blow you away!
Mike - I'd love to see you shoot out the 75th 45rpm AP version with the Abbey Road 1/2 speed. A lot of other guys in the VC are saying they undoubtedly prefer the Abbey Road cut. I'm personally not into 1/2 speed, but I'm getting very curious about this specific INXS version. Because I agree with you on the sonic issues with the US original.
I preferred the Abbey Road Miles Showell cut. I played them back to back, and especially focused on “Need You Tonight/Mediate”. It’s not even close, the Miles cut which is from a high res transfer directly from the Australian 1/2” master tape wins!
Came here for this, won't rush out to get this to replace my abbey road cut just yet then. This new version is £70+ record in England at the moment

I can’t help but think that you are going to be doing a lot of additions to your top 100. The Rhino and Atlantic series’ are going to keep putting out quality records. You should also tell us which ones lose their spot on your top 100.
Benjamin Orr sang 25% of the Cars songs, and 50% of the big hits .

I have no issue getting up to flip and change the record (I love singles). My issue is just having the original sides interrupted. But obviously the trade-off must be worth it.

Can anyone speak to a comparison between this 45rpm Kick and the Abbey Road 45rpm remaster from a couple of years back? I have that one and want to know if it's worth a double dip.
From what I’ve read the Abbey Road version seems to be preferred by those who have compared both.
I only have the Atlantic 75 version and an original CD. There isn’t much between them sonically the original CD is just a bit lacking in bass weight mostly. I still feel the album could sound better. I’m curious to hear an Abbey Road version to compare.
Now I really wish I liked the Cars. Someone please give us a good Quadrophenia.
I don't even collect vinyl nor barely listen to the records I have, but I still watch your channel and love to hear your thoughts as a former audio snob in long term recovery.
I arrived here a while ago. Where I’m torn is 45s of things like Close To The Edge or Supper’s Ready. I can’t see a single song split, it would so ripping the flow. Is it worth it for the other sides? Maybe. I’m old enough to have owned original Cars, the Rhino is amazing. Candy O was a tiny letdown back then, but I’ll probably buy it. I’m so sad that Rhino has screwed up almost every order I’ve placed, their website is a mess.

Hi Mike! I’d like to know what kind of outer sleeve you use for those Rhino releases, I normally use the Mofi Ultra Clear but the jacket is to thick that broke it. Also, have anyone noticed how hard it is to put back in the records on those jackets?

Kick was recorded at Rhinoceros Studios in Sydney, Australia, which boasted the first SSL 4000 console in the country. The album was recorded on a 32-track Otari digital recorder.
So you can take it off your list and delete this video 😆
Two good additions. I understand that as a record store owner you might focus on records readily available through stores. But Rhino being easily available direct through their site should qualify. Vinyl Me Please and other subscription only labels I agree shouldn't qualify, but Rhino should. Not a complaint, just a comment

The more superdooper $60+ Records come out, the more i feel scammed by the "normie" Pressings.
Why should it be impossible to do the good work at a reasonable price? All the expensive stuff like recording and design and stuff is allready paid and gone.
Back in the mid 70ies i had to work about an hour in order to buy a record.
But now?
U spliting hair or u have to much time trying to pay attention to small differences
