When obsidian almost stepped on Steven in the dream it was probably because obsidian almost stepped on Connie while fighting white diamond
at about 8:06 in the video you can see that obsidian has one gem on each hand. this could be due to her resemblance to the temple or could just be a mistake I got no clue.
there is one detail I want to add about Obsidian... the hair... when you look at the statue version, it has Rose's hair... the version we get has Steven's... just a detail that needs to be brought up...

Did you noticed how all of Steven's fusions still keep his clothes intact? In Obsidian, his clothes are on the lower hands on the right, wrapped around the fingers.
That would make sense since his clothes aren’t made of light like the gems. Idk about other humans tho.

I notice in the episode ‘Lion 2: The Movie’ when we first see Rose’s sword the way that it appeared is similar to how Obsidian forms it’s blade. The grip of the sword is made (or appears) and then they pull the blade out of their heads creating the full sword. Also how they use the swords is similar, using a forehand, then a back hand and ending with an over head strike, aka Overhead Death Strike.

Obsidian seems more like a fusion of Pele and Kali. Both are fiery goddesses capable of mass destruction but are also nurturing mother figures who protect their loved ones.

It would've really showed the gems' growth as a team to have Alexandrite form her own weapon (which I think would be a medieval flail)
Them not having a weapon as Alexandrite it's supposed to symbolize how all three of their gems well, all four of their gems are completely different and without rose/steven. each gem has no reason to be together at all. I feel like her not having a weapon is supposed to symbolize their differences while together.

A spike balled whip but its like stevens spike ball but the spikes are pearls spears
They could form the flail by summoning Sugilite's wrecking ball and then creating hundreds of Pearl's spears orbiting it (or arrows from Opal's bow), while one large spear forms the handle at the end of the whip tied to the gauntlet. They then breathe fire at the weapons causing them to melt together as the gauntlet on the end of the wrecking ball turns into a sphere as all the spears or arrows stick to its surface as jagged spikes, while the whip becomes a chain. The fire breath part is based on how Obsidian used the lava mouth to combine all the weapons into a sword, which is another medieval weapon, so Alexandrite uses the fire mouth to combine all the weapons (except Steven's) into a flail, also a medieval weapon. However, the way the spikes are jagged and not perfectly arranged (which is unlike Pearl, who is neat and tidy) as well as the gauntlet not turning perfectly spherical is a representation of how it's not perfect; something is missing, Alexandrite is just Obsidian but without Steven.
Yeah the spike from pearls spear, rope from amethysts whips, and ball and hand from garnets fists
Honestly I like that obsidian only roars. Because, so many gems are combining for one purpose, to defeat someone and all of them have emotions in common when fighting said person, anger and/or determination both easily expressed in roars.
Considian is probably Steven’s subconscious interpretation of his loved ones confronting him about what he doesn’t want to talk about.

It’s amazing that Obsidian could stay together for as long as they did, since the more gems in the fusion, the more unstable. But they, like Alexandrite in later episodes, were united in one goal. I think that is an amazing feat.

You didn't talk about the fact that Obsidian wears Steven's clothes on the second left arm (the same arm that summon Garnet's gauntlet). If I'm not wrong, that might be the same arm used at the temple to hang Steven's clothes (but I'm not really sure if that's the case).

What if Obsidian has the ability to climb from Steven and Garnet's fusion Sunstone? Who's weapon is suction cups they used to climb!
Could be, but it's also possible that Obsidian can climb without the suction cups because she's so much bigger than Sunstone. She can grab onto more of the ship than Sunstone can since her hands are bigger, so Sunstone has a bigger chance of slipping.
She probably can summon all of their individual weapon and fusion wepon
Obsidian was definitely a finale worthy fusion and I love how Steven was part of the base instead of shoving the main character at the top. At the end of the day Steven was a support character and that didn't change the entire series. He was never a badass who took on everyone by himself he needed to be cooperative, trustworthy and full of love. Thats what I love most about Steven universe. On their own each gem is a losers but their ability to come together makes them able to overcome any challenge. Most people in real life can't set aside differences and come together and so the gems are always stronger.
also interesstingly, he is the base of why they fusion, pearl and amathist only are able to stay togeather, when they are focussed of protecting steven, alexandrite failing at the dinner has nothing to do with garnet, both sardaonyx and sugelits problems stand from amathyst and pearls respectively while garnet is understandably the queen of getting along and stay in a stable fusion . . . with steven in the mix, who just wants everyone to get along, they might be in a ways more stable dispite consisting of even more gems

I'd really like to hear from the crewniverse on how Steven *felt* when being Obsidian...
One thing not mentioned was that Obsidian’s sword is visible twice in Season 1, well before her first actual appearance: Once in Bubble Buddies, and again in Ocean Gem. The sword appears to have been a part of the temple statue that fell off into the ocean, and is seen when Steven and Connie’s bubble falls into the ocean, and it visible again when Lapis steals the ocean

Obsidian is the only fusion we know looks the same when both Rose quartz and Steven use it. We know this thanks to the statue, we also know (thanks to rainbow quartz 1 and 2) that Steven and Rose's fusions can look different when they fuse with the same gem.
There are a few differences. Like the hair is similar to roses curls and the statue shows that their fusion had clothing. while this one has more of the cloud like hair steven has and no clothing. But for the most part it stayed the same

The theme music for obsidian was like a final boss music in either a movie or a video game and I loved it to bits...I can definitely see people using that song for their own story/video game stories..IT’S TOO PERFECT!!! 😎🤘

another thing about Obsidian's sword being similar to the flameblade from BotW is that the flame weapons are made from Death Mountain's lava, and Obsidian's sword is made with the lava/ magma in her 3rd mouth

11:18 is interesting how that sword is really similar to DOOM's guy demonic sword, in doom eternal is even show how he forged the blade of the sword with lava too in a really similar fashion, I mean he put the pommel in the lava while holding it vertically and instanly a demonic energy blade appeared from it, I am sure it is a coincidence but an interesting one nonetheless. Postdata: that sword is the second most powerful weapon of the DOOM marine with that he can cut in half big demons with ease, only the BFG is stronger.

Personally, I think Obsidian should have been more powerful considering a diamond was part of her. Especially since it appears that Pink Diamonds battle powers are almost the strongest of them all.
i know this is late as hell but i like to imagine the more steven grows or gets used to his power the more powerful his fusions get

obsidian was an amazing fusion, she reminds me of gotenks from dragon ball, with out the childish personality of gotenks and she packes a punch.
alexandrite is tuff and id turn tail if i saw her fighting another gem also her fusion dance (dragon ball referance) gets more and more graceful and smooth.
garnet seperate has her own set of problems but when she comes back its like goku just appeared garnet can see the future in many ways and she picks a future that happens and because of ruby has the ability to alter it as seen in garnets origan in the show they are by far the glue that holds their fusions to gether.
What I really like about the fact is that the irl gem having such a high hardness can have a double meaning in the canon. Basically that in the show she‘s a tough fighter, but since hardness in gems often also means that they are more easily breakable, it could also mean that‘s why she‘s also so unstable and often times just done swiftly for the convenience unline Garnet who fuses long term. Yet again it‘s such clever writing. You can use both implications and to really think of that I find to be really creative tbh.
Obsidian appears to defensively weak compered to her attacking power. She was un-fused by being slam between a building and the Mach where Sunstone get stomped on by the Mech and was fine. Real life obsidian, being a glass, is easily shattered.
Obsidians appearance in that episode of future is there to show that the later events of change your mind were rather traumatizing to steven, like there was a giant robot trying to smash him that was controlled by 3 of his family members, 2 of which were being controlled by the other, and when that part was done most of his family was being controlled againat their will by this enormous being so bright you cant tell the difference between her hair and her head that litterally amputated a part of him with a psychopathic smile and put him in a state that looked really close to death, that would be traumatizing to ANYONE but chuck noris
Fun fact about Alexandrite's design: When her second mouth is open, it looks like Eva Unit-1 from Evangelion

It all makes sense, remember Sunstone? Yeah, the lava came from Steven’s gem. Now, with Steven and the other gems, creating obsidian, Steven has something to do with lava. It also could be for Smoky Quartz too, but not as much, but it mainly seems Garnet = Steven fusions.
The Obsidian temple carving/statue is a life size rendering of Obsidian(or very Similar in size). I realized this because Connie fits in their hand with room to spare in Change Your Mind, enough room for a warp pad and a washer/dryer.
Wait so when Alexandrite fuses and says you need some time apart does it not sound like Opal, and she has Opals bow, maybe like they fuse inside Alexandrite to make the weapons

As part of my personal gem theory, in certain cases of Alexandrite, and Malachite especially, they’re a forced fusion, meaning that specific gem’s personality isn’t unlocked, and any of the fusion materials can take control and stuff. I think we do here Alwxandrite’s real voice when she defuses Malachite with the Opal bow, but that’s it.
The fusions only stay together from will of the user(s), even if it isn’t perfect. Jasper was extremely dominant so Malachite always stuck, but Alexandrite was more unstable due to the 3 clashing personalities all being dominant in different aspects
My favorite thing about Obsidian was before we got to see her in action, everyone had beautiful fanart of her. The majority that I've seen displayed her as almost dainty and colorful. Once she was on screen, she was depicted as almost the opposite! The dark color scheme and abrasive fight style was incredible to watch. It was a complete 180 for me because at that point I was used to the serene and wise fanart. Plus, the hooves were my favorite!!

I saw a comment on another video which i found really interesting. It said that on the temple obsidian has really curly hair like Rose but when we see obsidian she has more round hair like steven, i found that pretty cool.

One minor note from someone who does subscribe to crystal healing: obsidian and other black gems are less like a vacuum of negative energy, since they don’t take in the energy themselves. Rather they “banish” the negative energy, keeping it away from the holder/wearer in general. (There are some other crystals, like turquoise, that does take in the negative energy and should therefore be cleansed if it every once in a while.)

I would of loved to see some more alexandrite-like fusions with Steven, like garnet+Steven+pearl, or any other combo like that.
I like what you said at the end where obsidian and diamond are completely deferent and I would like to build off that idea of the crystal gems being enemies of the diamonds in that series, it took time to make obsidian just how it takes time in real life too, but diamonds take barely any time, and wasn’t white the first gem? Pretty cool.

There are so many fusion potentials with the mail crystal gems we didn't get to see and it makes me sad. Plus, what would happen if Rhodonite and Padparadsha fuse? A slightly different Sardonyx?
i've wondered something similar, if other rubies and saphires fuse, do they still make garnet? the existence of rainbow quartz 2.0 suggests it, but then technically its the same rose quartz* gem used in the fusion.. many questions...
What i noticed between Alexandrite and Obsidian is that the appearance have a transition Alexandrite is a fusion of Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst. Obsidian is a fusion when Steven is added. It's like if the lower jaw of Alexandrite grew a face, it would be Obsidian

Long ago before alexandrite debuted and weapons weren’t given to gems of that size, I always though obsidians weapon would be a battering ram. A giant spear encased in gauntlets, the spear tip poking out the front of the ram which is covered with a shield, and flexible handles made of whips for as much mobility as you can get with a ram
I wish they continued the show so then we could see a full fusion of Steven,Connie,Garnet,Pearl,Lapis,,Peridot and Bismuth, because that would be overpowering, it would be very cool to see.

Actually Alexandrite wasn’t really stable back then, so that’s why she was having default fighting Malachite and why the wand unfused her. Plus the fight was unfair as they were literally fighting in the ocean, which gave Malachite a huge advantage.
The ruby and Sapphire unfusing was very smart
what if the Connie obsidian amalgamation was because he had to get everyone to agree at that moment to agree to help save Connie, or it could be that steven sees love as a fusion relationship, where they have to both simultaneously agree to do something and the stress is just like having to hold on to obsidians form
Detail i wanna point is the reason why obsidian is so fiery. Not only do amethyst and ruby have fire powers, steven probably does too. As both amethyst and jasper, both gems made from pink diamond's essence, have fire powerd

when you see a full shot of the house ( the statue) thats obsidian, so when the gems fused along time ago they probly made that statue of obsidian ( now i dont know how deep that goes but i just wanted to point it out)

I find it interesting that Alexandrite and Obsidian have fire related powers tied to them and can only assume that is because Ruby Amethyst and Steven/Pink Diamond all have fire powers but all the other fusions don't even though they all have Steven Garnet or Amethyst
