hello again travis and suzi. continuing the series on metallica's current world tour from europe, this time in sweden with a very meaningful song called the day that never comes. if you listen to the lyrics very carefully you will know what it is about. i love the upbeat positivity at the end of the track and the message to have hope, things will get better.

Death Magnetic is a really great Metallica album! It was the first Metallica Thrash album since ...And Justice For All, and you could tell by the quality how fucking happy they were to be doing that genre of music again.

The area with the fans in the middle is called the snakepit which they started doing on the black album tour. I read they have 3 stages. One their playing at and the previois one being pulled down then the next one one being built. All at the same time.
Yeah, you can see it back in 1997 in Texas, the best concert called "Cunning Stunts" with stage collapsing routine. They really were adding to the experience of normal concert playing, but I think over time they became more about lasers and flashy lights, while back in the late 1990's they really had that raw industrial look and feel to them that I think fits Metallica a lot better.

Metallica has always organically grown with the times. That is part of why I like them so much. At this point they have become so proficient with so many different styles that it's really fun to listen and figure out where their songs will go next as they are unpredictable and can change on a dime. That is like the perfect kind of music to me.
I was there and it was fckn glorious. We were at a rooftop bar the night before n we could hear sounds n see lights flashing all across the sky from the stadium n then a bit later Lars posted an Instagram post captioning “sound check in the midnight sun”, which we do have during the summer in Sweden, it never gets completely dark. What a great buildup that was. And yes it rained right at the start but stopped like one song in. James commented on how nice that was bcs we’ve had like a summer of 30 C every day
I can still remember the day this dropped and hearing it for the first time. I loved it then, and I love it now. It's a fantastic song!

It is amazing to me how much stage set up they can do - and it is always magnificent with the music.
I think I read they have two entire set-ups worth of equipment each with it's own back up equipment for Europe and NA one in each place for the tours.
Being Metallica's roadies is apparently A LOT of work considering those damn screens, cause they don't belong to the Arena... I know the stage is theirs as well. The center is the snake pit, for those who want to mosh! I wish I had gone... (live in Sweden)

the music video for this song is a military based video, showing of what it is like to be on patrol in the sandbox(Iraq), the lyrics hit even harder with the video

Got tickets to this tour. I soooo hope that this one is played that day.
The stage is their own invention. Lars have 3 or is it 4 set of drums, around on the stage, going up and down, as they shift around on the stage, so all get a good view.
I was on both shows in Gothenburg. Great shows and they sounded very good. I have seen them every time in sweden since 2004 and in my opinion it is only sick of the studio tour 07 that hits this conserts.

For me the best Metallica song in the last 20 years. They are still great but a lot of their songs in the last 20 years were way too generic for me. But this song hits home eveytime!

Drums on this are really not good. Lars is not able to play a clean beat during the verse vocals where we just want to hear the harmony of vocals and guitars. He's forcing himself and the drums in the foreground in some parts where it really DONT needs to be. Lars is "overdrumming" so many songs live and that makes me angry sometimes because he makes a kickass song sound like shit.
