The Steph Curry CJ Comparsion for that time was accurate. Shoot first smaller guards, offensively dynamic and having potential to be a playmaker. For that time period of who he was, not with hindsight being 20/20, it was solid

1:36: that comparison wasn’t actually horrible, the way this looked for shots and played in college was very similar to how Kawhi did in college. They were both big, strong, long forwards who played more bully/smash mouth basketball in college and were amazing defenders. Rui had somewhat of a shot his last year in college, but before that he was a bad shooter, Kawhi was a pretty horrible shooter all throughout college and didn’t develop a jumpshot until the NBA. Having watch rui play college ball and seeing some of kawhi, they played very similar. Kawhi developed a lot more but honestly, looking at Kawhi up to year 3, and where rui is now, it’s not a bad comparison yet, it probably will be cause for rui to fulfill it, he needs to also do what Kawhi did and make massive improvements to his game over the next 2 years.

I never took draft comparisons as literal. Take the victor comparison to Tony, what they was saying that he had all the physical gifts to be an elite defender who could get a few points in transition but primarily be the team's anchor playing with a ton of hustle and physicality and based on what I remember of Victors college career it was a fair comparison at the time

LOL I just remembered to peep the Brandon Ingram one and he was compd to Tayshaun Prince/Kevin Durant. Hilarious considering both the latter KNEW how to exploit their top tier length at a pro level early on. Ingram in his Laker years moved like he was a smaller guy and not a 6'7" wing with a 7'3" wingspan. Hell even now with the Pelicans he knows what to do with his length on offense but not on defense.

I think a lot of people misunderstand the definition of a draft comparison. What I mean by that is the comparisons are not made because people think they are going to be that player (for the most part), it's more about who they play like at a lower level. Rui's game, for example, looks a lot like Kawhi's, but it's at a much lower level. It's a fair, accurate comparison.

I guess people forget that all of this is part of the business side of the game. You're stupid to believe it's possible to find the next star player. All of this is just to hype up people about the NBA or college, and now HS as well.
If there's no sign of the next gen having the next Lebron, Kawhi, Curry, etc to take over in future, then people aren't going to be excited about the future, meaning no money for the NBA.

Plus they put him at a position he never played before. I think if he had his own team he would be averaging 20pts 10rebs 7ast. While also being an all defensive player. Just like he was at LSU.

    1. “LeBron James is, at worst, the second greatest player of all-time.” Nope. Ring-chasing isn’t a bad thing, but it comes at a price. LeBron has zero championships if he doesn’t stack the odds completely in his favor.
    2. “Chris Paul is the ultimate point guard.” Nope. The ultimate point guard should be a leader, through-and-through, and should step up when the pressure is highest, not crack and choke repeatedly. See Magic Johnson.
