She was born to dance. It's so good to see people who really realize their calling in life and put their whole life into it. Kudos to Toni Basil! Thank you for entertaining us for so many years!
She is in better shape than I am. And she looks great at 74 years old. And I am so proud of her. She will be around forever I think. Take care everyone.
I don't know if you remember the movie Easy Rider she was in that with Jack Nicholson and Peter Fonda in the part of it where they go to New Orleans she is one of the chicks they hook up with. Also she was a showgirl in a Frank Sinatra movie way back in 1964 ... you can see the video for it and it is called : Robin and the 7 hoods, Toni Basil ,1964.
Well of course. If you have serious money, you can color your hair back to it's natural color, have all those beauty creams (no plastic surgery for this girl), own all kinds of exercise equipment. I do not like choreography style dancing. I prefer to make up my own dance steps (think 1960s) as I go along.
Look her up and Wikipedia she has worked hard all her life doing choreography for music vids, movies ,concerts. You can see what you look like way back in 1964 as a showgirl in a Frank Sinatra movie the video is called Robin and the 7 hoods Toni Basil 1964
This woman has real drive. I interviewed her in Australia (where Hey Mickey was a huge hit) for Campaign magazine. She was very guarded about her age then (early 30s) but just look at her now. Doesnt look a day over 40. Amazing mover and still a stunner.
She moves so SHARP! It really does make you realize that you've really just gotta find a way to love staying active and you really don't lose nearly as much as you think you would because of the mystery of "aging."
Incredible how they forgot to mention The Lockers, the first ever pop lock dancing group that she was the only female member of. Also too bad they didn't show a clip of her best music video which is called " you got a problem ".. the song by Devo who she also used to tour with... it's incredible how much info Inside Edition left out about this woman who has been an inspiration and has helped so many dancers. She has choreographed numerous artists and videos everything from David Byrnes / Talking Heads "once in a lifetime " To several David Bowie tours.. and she even opened a show for Frank Sinatra... she choreographed a number of movies... including Legally Blond and many others Funny they did not mention that she was also in Easy Rider... one of the two chicks they hooked up with in New Orleans. Inside Edition you really could have done a better job explaining about Toni Basil. She was a judge on one of those dance shows... I did not watch them regularly but what I did say is that she always tried to stay kind and positive when she spoke with contestants. This classy lady deserves a better homage here than Inside Edition gave her... well at least they did wish her a happy birthday. I could only dream of being like her when I'm 74.. Please check out the video here called " the Toni Basil show , You Got a Problem "... so much more enjoyable then the hey Mickey song and video. Also please look for the vids of The Lockers... in one of them she is dressed and covered completely in a giant rabbit outfit... you will enjoy watching The Lockers. You can also see a video here called "Robin and the 7 hoods 1964 Toni Basil "... it shows a lot of her when she was very young when she in the dancers we're practicing for the movie starring Frank Sinatra.
I came from looking "Easy Rider"... the New Orleans scenes with her and Karen Black at the end of the movie. Today Toni Basil doesn't look noticeable older as in this movie from 1969 when she was 25 years old! I love this woman!

The group had Toni Basil, Fred Berry...who played Re-Run in the 1980's show What's Happening and Shabadoo Quiones..who played Ozone in the 1984 movie Breakin'.
Toni Basil was a member of the same Pop-n-Lock Crew with Don Campbell & Fred "Rerun" Berry... Original Pioneer Breaker ! Still Incredible on the floor !!!
How about focusing on the fact that its not so much that she is 74- ( which is very cool) - its more that she is so dang fun to watch !! The music and her joy manifest through her body in orchestration . She is addicting to watch. :) Thank you for continuing to share your talent with us TB.

Question?!? Why didn't inside edition mention her dance career and fame came from the 1970's when she was a member of the for e-reader group of Hip Hop dance, The Campbell Lockers aka The Lockers. She was dating the leader and inventor of the dance Locking. His name is Don Campbell. He started getting his fame from being a dancer on the dance tv show Soul Train! Toni was the only female member of the group along with Fred Berry who is known as Re-Run from the tv show What's Happening. Also Aldopho aka Shabba Doo from the old Hip Hop movie Breaking. Man, alot of missed opportunity in that story to give her props and others connected to it. (P. S. I really know the reason why she didn't bring up her tie to Hip Hop dance as a Locker. That story will be told by the founder of the dance who I know personally and he opened my eyes to the behind the scenes events that broke up the group. I will say no more. Oh, again his name is Don Campbell the founder of the group The Lockers.) 🙏🏿Peace.
