- Another great piece of Street Dance history. Toni Basil, original member of The Lockers, and award winning Choreographer who has documented LA Street Dance history thoroughly since the early 70's, interviews some Legends.
Mr Penguin (RIP) Original Lockers Member, and also known as "Rerun" on WHat's Happening TV Show.
Shabba Doo Original Lockers Member
Poping Pete Electric Boogaloos
Spaz Punk Rock Dancer?
Penguin will always be Rerun to me.
Yo Toni Basil doesn’t get the credit she truly deserves!! RIP to Shabbat Doo and Fred Berry!!!!!
RIP Shabba Doo and Rerun!
rerun too?
always love watching shabba doo, shed a few tears for him. not many people realise how much Toni had a impact on the breakin scene.
@@luisd7636 Fred Berry died in 2003
two street legends RIP
I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since Ozone died. I just recently found that out. I actually thought he was still alive not long ago. God Rest his Soul 🙏 !!!
Wow,this was a rare Gem and RIP the {Rerun Mr.Penguin} Mr.Fred Berry who used to be a Soul Train Dancer in the early 1970s.
Yes. Fred (Re-Run/Mr. Penguin), Berry, Shabba Doo, Poppin' Pete and Toni Basil all used to dance on Soul Train starting back in the 1970's. Poppin' Pete was an original/founding member of Electric Boogaloo group. Fred, Shabba Doo & Toni were all original/founding members of The Lockers. All of them were so good. Toni is still dancing at 76! Shabbo Doo is 64 and Poppin' Pete is 58 so I'm sure they are still dancing. Not sure what happened to Spaz. RIP Fred Berry.
Look up Wattstax Rufus Thomas and in one of the crowd shots you see Re Run doing this slow motion dance and the crowd around him loves it. That's awesome he was super down to earth.
I can't believe after decades I'm just now finding out Toni is the same woman who sang Mickey back in the day.
I just found out too!
Me 2
it is crazy huh .. actually found out ten years ago or .. very intresting huh.. an original lockers crew member/manager turned one hit wonder mickey... i so miss those days need an extended version of this ..rip shabba doo
that's a good thing mate, because it's all most want to remember her for but they don't get it.
notice the shoes in the micky video they tell you what you need to know.
If you never met Mr Fred(rerun)you missed one of the most down to earth stars that ever lived..
Used to get his car worked on by an old friend of mine.
My daughter and I met Fred Rerun Berry in 2000 at the Universal Soul Circus when she 6yrs old. He was an awesome person. Rip to Fred Berry & Shabbadoo Both were extraordinary dancers.😔💐
Fred was the most memorable. Maybe because he had a tv show but also, he was sack of joy! It was easy to get it when he was on. He died on my birthday and it was widely reported and a sad day for all who loved him.
@@sekenamcmurren2217 love hearing that kind of thing, so often stars turn out to be stuck up or whatnot. You could tell Fred had a good heart though.
Always admired Mr Fred in the lockers!when o was a kid growing up in Trinidad it was the first I guess Music vid I ever seen .Well it was a song playing in and the lockers were dancing to it.Nothing form Nothing leaves Nothing.yuh gotta have something if you wanna be with me!! I would love to see them dance especially Mr Fred !!!!
Shabba-Doo was just so incredibly handsome, hard to believe that someone that beautiful ever existed those female Angels up in Heaven are no doubt having a heck of a field day over him, rest in peace handsome Angel
So I guess life is unfair in heaven too, huh?
Nice to see young, vibrant people being creative. Good energy.
The lockers went down in history as the true trailblazers for moonwalkers and breakdancers in the hip hop culture. Give the Lockers their 💐 flowers.
I don't know what you're talking about.
@Khultan
The Lockers was an excellent dance group formed by Toni Basil. If you know anything about Soul Music, look them up on Soul Train. These brothers were the hippest dudes that created artistic moves on the dance floor. Shout out to the B Boys and Crazy Leggs who were also creative dance artists from the Hip Hop Culture.
@@SS-ii6nz Where are you getting this vibe from that I'm dissing? You fused two entirely different regions and dance styles together. I'm not dissing you either. Look what you posted in your original remarks.
@@Khultan Because you just don't know. What about his statement do you disagree with?
RIP ReRun aka Penguin and Ozone aka Shabba-Doo 🙏🏾
Amazing!!! Pioneers and history makers in their own right!
Rerun from What's Happening and Spaz from the L.A. punk days???.... with the never-aging Toni Basil (still dancing at 81)..wow this is historical
This footage is solid gold!
Peaceful journey Shabadoo 💔🕊🌹s
That is so neat how they all "The Locker's" became quite famous when they split up and went their own way.
Shabba-do wanted to laugh when Spaz started spazzin! LOL
I laughed hard lol xD
Where's the Greatest Dance of them all? We all know what it's called the Pee Wee Herman!!!!
Lol hell yeah
Yeah that was a bit strange, like why was Paz even there it was so awkward lol
Yea; Spaz definitely did not deserve to be on the same platform as those legends. But I guess he was hot at the time so she had to include him? 🤷🏾♂️
RIP Fred Berry. It's been 17 years. 😔
RIP, OZONE!
Amazing!! Poppin Pete is also from "Breakin'"
Dance history right here
This is a CLASSIC VIDEO! I love it
I am so happy to see this golden content uploaded

This is so touching WOW! What a great great little video.
Never noticed Shabba-Doo's dimples before! Cute!!! RIP King!
RIP Fred 'Penguin aka Rerun' Berry
and
Adolfo 'Shabba-Doo' Quiñones
It's really quite amazing how pop culture that originates underground, from the streets can monetize into billions. Mind blowing.
That's not penguin , that's my boy rerun 😂
The lockers need to be inducted to rock and roll hall of fame.
Super influential dancers.
They influenced 3 generations...wak more than ticktock no talent jerk drinking cranberry juice on a skateboard.
He dances like them.they are the original influencers
without a doubt. I am going to try and set up a petition to recognise their contribution to the dance genre.
Let's get rock n roll bands that really deserve it first
I was Today Years Old When I found out Rerun's original dance name was "Penguin"
Spaz Attack is in videos, DEVO for example and traveled as a featured dancer with David Bowie's "Glass Spiders Tour", which Toni choreographed btw.
Awesome stories
Whats Happening Rerun!!!
Ozone and 1/2 of Electro Rock..future enemies in more peaceful times...sigh.
If you've ever seen the Musical Documentary that was being shown back in the 70's entitled WATTSTAX , when the late performer Rufus Thomas sings the song DO THE BREAK DOWN, the cameras will scan throughout the viewing audience, watch closely and you will see Fred ( Rerun / Mr. Penguin) Berry dancing as well as some of THe Lockers dancing, Fred is doing his slow motion move and the other guys are doing some regular locking, they are wearing their Locker hats, they attended the concert as are other concert attendees and are just having fun, I just love this movie, ahhh the good old days 👍👏👌❤️😊
Didn't know this ,will have to check that Out. Can I find it here on YTube(WATTSSTAX)?
Toni produced and choreographed "Talking Heads" video..."Crosseyed and painless" starring Poppin Pete. Awesome video I dont think the heads wanted anything to do with. My fav TH video.
Straight up history. Lot of people don't know punks used to robot along with poppin. So cool seeing these legends .I've met don and toni. Shouts to them and brother of poppin pete, I think my uncles knew him. And shabbadoo. I wonder where spazz is today, he was in devos video back in the day and had his own band .
I didn't know dat new punks fuck wit early hiphop
@@beachboi6196 ive been in to punk and hip hop since the 80s.also prog and metal too
thank you for showing this, its been so long since i've seen this, it brings back so many memories, she did a lot for dance and dancers.

What went down Richdome1? Who organized it? Which dancers attended? Any footage? Fliers? Super interested to learn
❤️❤️❤️ Fred Berry aka Rerun and Shabba Doo
Shabba Do and Poppin Pete are in the movie Breakin right???
Yes indeed Smokescreen Inc you are absolutely correct 👌👍
Who remembers the What's Happening episode of Rerun @ the Doobie Brother's Concert....jumping up and the tape recorder flies out of his trench coat pocket! 🤓😂🤣🎤🎧
Toni Basil, lot of attributes dating back to the late 60s, search it on RUclips.
Shaba Doo was electrifying!
Note* Van Damme , yes the Martial Artist had a cameo appearance in Breakin!
( Beach Scene )
Happy New Year Everyone
🕊 🌅 2021 🌋🕊
I can see why spazzing never caught on.
He literally had no business being in the company of that talent.
THE QUICKIES!
ONE TIME!
TWO TIMES!
lol
Spaz aka Spazz Attack, aka Craig Allen Rothwell. You can see him performing in a couple of DEVO music videos (Peek-a-Boo, Satisfaction). There's a strong connection between Toni Basil and Devo.
I came here from the Mickey video. I find him hott lol!
Spazz was bass player in Toni's band too wasn't he?
Yeah I recognized that dude from the Devo videos, thanks for the heads up.
Brian Train where is spazz today
fascinating
Good video.
FANTASTIC GOD BLESS THEM LOVE KEITH DUMPSON
Rerun !!!!
AWESOME
Damn, that was some high end special effect! Much respect for the pioneers!
Re Run!!!!!!!!!!
Rerun!!
awesome video. Pretty cool to hear them talking about nyc breakers before it was even really popular. But what they should have compared their locking to was our uprock. That would have been a better conversation.
This is master
This must be around 1982 or 1983.
Shabba Doo's face when Spaz was Spazzing out 🤣🤣🤣
Got It! "Talking Heads - Crosseyed And Painless"
+Robert Black That is the boogaloo anthem in the UK!
Came here for Rerun
Pete...💪👆
RIP Fred Berry
I think Spaz was in a few DEVO videos.
When did this interview first air and what TV station was this on?
when he spazzed he literally stops talking cause he's really getting into character - absolutely fascinating.
Was Spaz in a DEVO video?
Prince Lady Cab Driver playing in the background. 2:40 - 2:55
Yeah
2:27 Shabadoo’s expression 😅

Who the hell is Spaz?
No talent hack who looked to be a hanger on. Really had no business being in the company of that great ensemble of talent.
Rerun............
Don't suppose you've got all of 2nd BBC Special that this clip comes from?
Jrock my boy!!! How's life?
rodney cALDWELL yes
It is in instances like these i like to see diversity, because the white person was probably picked not because he was white but because he could really add something to the group.
The Spaz became more Punk Rock later on in th 80s..
Hey that's Re Run where the hell is Rodge ?
Writing novels.
Delicious...
Re run
It was hilarious to see Shabb look at Spaz.
Back when dancing was Kool as 💩
spaz lol..
can anyone say what is the song from 3:17?
Talking Heads I think
Shit Spaz needed a Chiropractor back then. Wonder what early nursing home, he resides at?
Shabba Doo didn’t like the spaz brah
The overt coil socially miss because gender microbiologically appear into a satisfying shoemaker. opposite, obsequious needle
