Good first reaction (I'm guessing it was blocked, I only just found it by chance?), this is a fun song ... no surprises as Electric Callboy (they are German) are good fun. This collaboration was actually BABYMETAL's idea - they were wanting to make a song that would be pure fun, one that people could dance along with like Electric Callboy's 'We Got The Moves' but they felt something was missing. They decided to ask EC if they would like to be involved so they went to see EC playing in Boston (they were both there at the same time last year) and met up backstage with them before the show. 'RATATATA' was the result. After a lot of back and forth and over 20 rewrites and variations etc they finally agreed on this final version. It is a straight 50-50 collaboration, but it is very much in the EC style. They have played it live together 8 times at festivals in Japan and Europe with either Kevin and Nico (EC's singers) joining BABYMETAL in their set or BABYMETAL joining EC in their set. You won't have seen or heard anything quite like BABYMETAL. They are like no other band, they don't follow the same traditions or copy the way bands have done things for the last 50+ years - they even pioneered their own new metal sub-genre. They are both original and unique ... and they made music interesting and fun again for those of us who had become bored and disillusioned with how virtually every band seemed to be doing the same things and sounding alike. Some have tried to copy them, none came close yet and that is down to several factors - most importantly talent (everybody involved), passion for what they do and hard work. They started in 2010 aged 12 and 11 as a fusion of Metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics ... they have been pushing boundaries and breaking through walls ever since. In the 14 years since then they have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet. They have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre (thrash, djent, power, speed, black, death, folk, Prog etc), but they will mix and blend so many more musical styles with the metal (Jpop, ska, Bollywood, Middle Eastern Psy-trance, dub step, Latino, EDM, Finnish polka, rap, hip hop and more). They have a bespoke choreographed dance routine for all of them. They are the vocalists and dancers and, same as the vocalists with other bands (eg Nico and Kevin from EC, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Floor etc), they do the singing. They are supported in all live shows by the Kami Band - all of them world class musicians. I think you might appreciate BABYMETAL's 'Monochrome' live at PIA Arena from April 2023 if you want to hear them by themselves in their own concert
"I bet this kills in Europe".... RATATATA - #1 in USA Billboard "Hard Rock Digital Download Sales" chart!! First #1 Single for either group in the USA! Babymetal also has 2 Top 40 Albums in the USA with "Metal Galaxy" hitting #1 on Billboards "Top Rock Album" chart in 2019!! AND!!! Su-metal was just named "Female Metal Singer of the Year 2024"!! More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! (why is this coming up in my feed so late?? - 2 weeks ago? dang)
I wasn't into metal for the majority of my life. When I was introduced to EC (by the end of 2020/ beginning of 2021) through "Hypa Hypa", I was like "I can tolerate the heavy and the screaming, because it's funny, catchy and kind of dance...ish.". In April of 2022, when they released their song "Spaceman", I already was like "It's fine if 'Rave is your religion', but shout it at me HARDER!". 😂
And a little Backstory: Babymetal wanted to make a song in the style of "We got the moves", one of Electric Callboys most popular songs. It didn't work out well so they reached out to EC and asked for advice. And that turned into a full 50/50 collab between both bands.
If you want to get into more Electric Callboy (which I recommend because the guys are entertaining AF), I would recommend you these songs: - Fckboy (a lovely nod to the 2000's Pop-Punk, it's a feature with the all female metalcore band Conquer Divide) - Hypa Hypa (their first single with Nico as their new vocalist) - We got the moves (I think their biggest hit) - Pump it - Spaceman (that one is a lil tricky cause it's a feature with german rapper Finch, who raps in german) - Arrow of Love - Parasite (a serious song with a serious MV) - Mindreader (same as Parasite) - Tekkno Train - Everytime we touch (yes, they covered Cascada's big 2000's hit into their style of Music) EC are very good musicians who don't take themselves all to serious. You will get it when watching the videos. They all are just big Goofballs.
Fun! Haha yeah Babymetal alone is extremely different and always jarring for first time listeners. Electric Callboy is just hilarious and goofy! But they take the music seriously. Babymetal blends a lot of genres with metal. I'm 48, my wife and I saw them live twice in Texas last year (I became a wild fan late 2022) and they put on the best live shows of my life! Absolutely relentless nonstop dancing and stage energy. Massive commanding stage presence. And adorable af. And hardcore. All at once! They have choreo for every single song. Hope you enjoy more!
I absolutely will!! 🙏. They still confuse me but I’m definitely intrigued & couldn’t agree more. Coming from BAND-MAID, I was expecting more a long those lines of them but I’m ok they aren’t! Just like BAND-MAID, it took me finding them through the collab they did with The Warning yet it took me a bit to really appreciate the art so I’m so excited to continue. Appreciate it so much!!! Much ❤️
@BigMikeReactions totally! In Dallas, it was 4,000 standing only sold out, we were very close to the stage and my wife had made me a pair of iridescent shoulder paldrons like they wore in the Ratatata video, and one of the flanking dancers noticed and gave a smile and wave. They did so much personal crowd interaction its just awesome! There's lots of catchy choruses, easy crowd chants, and choreo the crowd is meant to copy. They're designed to make the audience feel like an actual part of the show. Which is just so fun and cool! I think people give them crap early on because they don't play their own instruments (the backing band are top 1% session musicians), but Su is legit one of the best singers I've heard in my life, and with how much hard work they put in to make the dancing so perfectly in sync, I would argue their bodies, their dancing, IS the instrument they play! They call for walls of death and mosh pits and crowd surfing a lot too, just to show they're legit hardcore, i think haha. They play larger than life characters on stage, and have been doing it since they were 11 which is just nuts. It surprised me to see they had even MORE relentless energy on stage now that they're in their mid 20s when we saw them. They've just improved their craft tenfold!
Dude, just seeing this now: Both bands, Electric Callboy and Babymetal, tend to even draw non metal fans into their orbit. For example, Electric Callboy was the first ever Metal Band to play on the Parookaville Festival. Why is that so special you ask? Because its a Festival where ONLY electronic music is being played. And the crowd went nuts. My wife isn't into Metal at all, but guess where she is going with me next November in Berlin, Germany? Yup, EC. And always be honest with your reactions. Being authentic is a rare gift amongst reaction channels. Keep grinding Mate, much Love from Germany and a happy new year. And welcome to those rabbit holes 😉
Yeah was blocked for a while. Will be back this weekend & I couldn’t agree more with being genuine. I may get a ton of crap in the comments but they’re honest!!! I may miss a lot especially when I get new bands but it’s genuine & pretty entertaining when I get blown away. Thank you for this!! Much ♥️
FYI Su-metal, lead vocals for BABYMETAL was just named best female metal singer for 2024 by the Metal Awards. And yes BABYMETAL is a metal band led by the 3 girls🦊🤘
Nice. I’m so confused on them but curious! I know BAND-MAID… pretty much it so I thought they were along those roads. 😳 I am interested but lost. Doing more for sure
@BigMikeReactions BABYMETAL are the pioneers of the Japanese female rock/metal genre, they opened the door worldwide for bands like Band-Maid to walk through. They're beginning their 15th year of performing this year and they're still only in their mid 20's. So yes you should check out more of their music, I would recommend you start with their more recent music and work your way back. I saw them on their recent US tour and they were spectacular 🦊🤘
Electric Callboy is a German band and they mix genres. They have two singers one does mainly Nico cleans and harsh the Kevin does mostly harsh but he can sing too. Baby Metal has an in house band but they usually sings and dance. I hope they do more collaborations.
👍👍An awesome collaboration and performance. Welcome to the foxhole. Great reaction. Love Su's shot in the famous John Travolta’s 'Saturday Night Fever' pose, so cool. 🦊 🖖❤
The song is pretty much in the structure of a Electric Callboy song. I would not call it speed metal. EC is pretty much metalcore, with edm included electronic core, but their fans like to call it party core. They have pretty much a metalcore or emocore past for a long time. The band itself don't care in which genre the belong and so do I. Babymetal wanted a song in the spirit of EC _We got the moves_ and the reached out to EC. But don't get it wrong, Babymetal also can go way harder , listen to their collab with Bring me the Horizon (BMTH) _Kingslayer_. ( I recommend the live version of Tokio in the BMTH channel, it is way better than the studio version.) BMTH have also done everything from nu metal, metal core, death core-ish songs to kind of pop rock songs. All these bands are around for a long time BMTH I guess since 2004, and BM and EC since 2010.
Seems you won the lottery, in reverse, a Babymetal reaction video with just 3 comments and less than 100 views in 2 weeks is rare. My guess is because your timing was wrong, Babymetal had just released a different collab with a band from India: Bloodywood. This was a feature on a Bloodywood song, the RATATA song was a 50/50 collab. When you said the song most be popular in Europe, I guess maybe you meant that the song would be popular in Europe because it has a European flavor ? Because this song actually reached #1 on Billboard's Hard Rock [and thus metal] Digital Song Sales List. So it actually did very well in the US, so high in fact, it was a first for both bands. Babymetal is melodic and clean vocals mostly, so it's easier to get into for you.
Yeah they played guitars on "MV Ijime dame zettai", it was 2013 and girls were around 13yo. Moa played guitar on Shine, or together with Rob Halford. Well about "SG-CB", I cannot tell about the material.
Good reaction - but BM are a LIVE group and honestly need to be seen live - their MVs don't even begin to match their live performances. Oh... this is about as pop like as they get - normally a lot.....harder :P GREAT fun summer track :) you can't go wrong with BM - try Monochrome at PIA arena (with the intro - some have it cut out - it makes a difference), or Headbanger Legend 97 (they're very young here) if you wan't to look further - or whatever anyone else suggests (mebee not gimme chocloate yet....).
LOL, "Babymetal = K-Pop" 🤣. Don't worry, I'm sure many have made that mistake. While they do fuse J-Pop and Metal, Babymetal is just in an entire category of their own, to be frank. There are really not many other bands, if any, that are similar to Babymetal. This is an amazing 50/50 collab and has been a big hit worldwide. However, I will say that this song is very much in Electric Callboy's style (who is equally amazing too). Thus, you should check out Babymetal on their own to truly see what they're like. In addition, Babymetal has been around since 2010, when the girls were 12/11 years old. They've obviously evolved and grown in age and style, as they are in their mid-20s today. *Suggestion - This should give you a decent range of Babymetal's style:* _Megitsune (Pia Arena MM 2023):_ In my opinion the song that represents Babymetal the best overall. _Monochrome (Pia Arena MM 2023):_ Slower tempo, heartfelt, and melodic, with some solid heavy elements. _Road of Resistance (Pia Arena MM 2023):_ An epic anthem. _Headbanger (Legend 1997):_ A Dec 2013 show for lead Su-metal's 16th birthday. This will be a great showcase of "early Babymetal". Look forward to more Babymetal reactions! 🤘🦊
Nice!!! Thank you for taking the time to put this together. This will actually help since I’m new to it all. I really appreciate this & your support 👊👍🙏
@@BigMikeReactions You're welcome! When I discovered Babymetal, it took 4 songs for me to go from being dismissive to being absolutely hooked. So, glad to share the wonders of this group. Also, Babymetal rarely does harsh vocals. They mix and match various styles of metal with all other genres, combined with amazing vocals for somber, epic, and heavy songs, or fun and goofy vibes. I'm sure you'll find a lot to enjoy in their discography!

Babymetal is the three girls singing and dancing, but they are still metal and absolutely worth checking out more
I'm kind of the same... never really was into metal, and not an idol fan, but gradually turned into a babymetal fan. ❤
