I have both in 40 cal but my P229 is the standard version. The standard P229 vs the Elite wouldn't fair any better than the SP2022 does. When I shoot these back to back there isn't enough difference to justify the price, IMO. For me it comes down to what holster I want to wear that day. My 229 fits my P220 OWB and I have to carry the 2022 in my IWB holster. I've had mine several years and it seems they are just starting to catch on. For a workhorse and not a show horse this is a accurate, reliable pistol with a good trigger. Not just for the money. Period.
With over 300,000 in French Law Enforcement alone, it is near the number one cop gun in Europe. Throw a Galloway Hannibal adjustable Trigger and a DPM recoil assembly in it And its great. Ive had both the 229 and 2022... still have the 2022.
I recently inherited an SP2022 as my first pistol, and haven’t had the opportunity to fire it yet. Appreciate the perspective and experience this video provided for someone in my shoes. In 2020, I feel lucky to have this handgun.
Of course pistol preference can be very subjective. For example, I like my M&P9 a lot, I like my G19 more, but like my SP2022 the best. Does that mean the Smith and GlocK are inferior or cheap? YOU be the judge (as per Paul Harrell).
I bought a used 2022, in great shape for 300 hundred dollars about 4 months ago, great gun, great groups, great trigger, one thing i did do was buy a mec gar 17 round clip for it and it works great, no pinky rest on it, and it feels great..i agree if someone had the money to go with the p229, but these 2022's are great for someone that doesnt have the money, as you said, to get the 229, I have a glock 17 gen 5, a FNH 9s, but I'd trust my life with my 2022 also..good, honest review, thanks, i subscribed to your site
Picked up an MS model for my girlfriend. Paid 330.00 out the door. I own a German 226 ( 1988 model) , Glock 30 FS and Canik TP9 V2. I am a 1911 cult worshiper and carried both the 1911 & M9 for 22 years in the Corps. I have always given this pistol high rating for new shooters , recreational shooters and people in a tight budget. The weapon is worth the cost and unless a Bore Axis your phobic, thus gun checks most boxes for the money. As to Bore Axis, I don't see as an big issue if your just a occasional shooter. Just my opinion, Bore Axis is just another Tact Cool slang that puts unnecessary fear & confusion in an already over confusing pistol buying world. Yes Bore Axis matters for serious gunslingers and competitive shooters that need that millimeter of advantage. To the majority of shooters it is just over hype. As I said earlier, I started out on ragged 1911 45acps. Most of the barrels were shot out and the barrel crowns were chipped. We learned to make them work. I would highly recommend this weapon for most of the population and especially new shooters and those on a tight budget. Semper Fi
A high bore axis on a first gun may be harder to control. Rather than give up, the shooter could take instruction to improve their grip and mitigate muzzle flip. High bore axis makes fundamentals matter even more.
I'm back. Accuracy is still great. Bench rest shooting it shoots under an inch at 25 yards. Some rifles don't shoot that well. One last and most important for a defense hand gun is that it points very well. Same as my 1911. Every time I bring the gun up. The sights are write on perfect. Oh one last thing, Sig said they have 2022s that have been fired more than 300,000 rounds. Still working fine.
I've had this gun for at least 6 years with many rounds thru it. Never a hiccup. It's a great weapon. I put a laser on it and it sits on my nightstand.
Its because of the heavy slide that sigs are known for. The huge slide compared to most other slides is substantial. You just cant compare the M&P 40 slide/recoil to the 2022 in .40. Heavier slide equal less felt recoil.
Feeling cheap doesn't mean BAD quality ! This SP-2022 is an economy & light weight version vs full metal. I do own one and it feels great in my hand ! ! The price as of today in California goes up to more than $600- ..... Not Cheap at all ! ! Besides, I also own a Beretta PX-4 Storm with a Rotating Barrel which is an upgrade version ( I think ) of the old Beretta Couger / Stoeger Couger ... I like this PX-4 as well !
I like how you used price point verses comparison as well as losing an expensive gun. Every gun has a hand for it. It’s a matter of whether the gun fits your hand and budget. I’ve carried the P2022 for work and I like it much better than my M&P Shield. I find the two videos very helpful and educational for a fist time buyer. Lots of good comments below people.
I have watched the video a few times over the course of a year or so. I have a 229 with the polished I internals and SRT as well as a 2022. I get what your saying about the feel of both guns and the trigger. There is a clear difference so much so that these 2 should not even be compared. That said. I would use either with confidence to defend mine or my family's life but being honest, I do shoot the 2022 better. I'm not inaccurate with the 229 but I'm better with the 2022. Good points and I enjoy your channel.
Thanks for the review. I bought one for my girlfriend and next to the Canik TP9 series, it is one of the best bargains in the pistol world. I don't think anyone viewing this would compare it to a 229 or other non ploy SIG. Also your comparing pistol that are completely in much different price ranges. For what it sells and the Sig quality it is a very practical weapon for LE, military, home defense and range weapon. The price makes it affordable to many of us " budget minded shooters". Thanks for review of a well kept secret in the firearm world. Semper Fi
Straight forward comparison..I have both WG made 228/226s and the difference is notable, but the 2022 is an excellent entry Sig..regarding the 2022s DA, the stacking in DA can be addressed with a 18# hammer spring for the early Gen 220s. Regarding baseplates getting the Roco flat bases cures that and adding a steel guide rod can help with muzzle flip
Steel guid rods do not affect muzzle flip in any noticeable way. People choose them because theyre afraid the plastic ones may break. They are just not heavy enough the really rexuce the felt recoil
IF YOU WANT THAT TYPE OF PERFORMANCE WHY NOT JUST BUY A HIGHER PRICED GUN WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES ON IT. KINDA FOOLISH TO PURCHASE A MORE MODERATLEY PRICE FIREARM AND START ADDING HIGH DOLLARS PIECES TO IT. REMINDS ME OF A FRIEND THAT BOUGHT A DPMS AR 15 I BOUGHT ONE FIRST. KEPT IT STOCK. HE PROCEEDED TO HANG TEN POUNDS OF USELESS SHIT ON IT MAKING IT TOO CUMBERSON TO CARRY. JUST TOOK ALL THE FUN OUTTA A BUDGET FIREARM. CRAZY.
@@margaretchriskurtz3819 I want to think that your opinion has merit and is well thought out but the entire message being typed in caps is a huge red flag tbh.
I sent an email asking about anything for the 2022 and just got this response from Gray Guns: Hi Richard, Not yet, but we're going to have something for that before too much longer. 3/25/20
Ok! It took up all the free play out of the trigger. Also the overtravel is gone. It leaves you with a nice trigger with no play at all. It doesn't change the trigger pull at all, which is already awesome on mine. I wish they had rounded the edges of the trigger a bit more, but it's not bothersome. And it's very easy to change if you have any mechanical ability and a bit of patience. I believe its worth it. I may round the edges a bit on my own later down the road even though it is ok. It would make it just that tiny little bit better!
Also I carry mine appendix in a vedder holster quite often. I find it easy to conceal even in the hot SW Florida weather. I think it's a fine handgun with a great trigger and feels good in my hand. Probably one of my all time favorites. I'm 60 and carried revolvers for years, so the trigger on the Sig blows most revolvers away! My only striker fired weapons are Kahrs. Prefer double/single action.
For future videos, when you talk about/show trigger length and resets, could you turn the pistol around, so as to show it, without your trigger finger in the way? Thanks!! 👍
I own a SP2022 and the P229 Elite in 9mm. One of the guns is an low end version from Sig and the other one says Elite on the stainless steel slide. The SRT trigger makes the guns different which is why I had to pay more for the Elite 9mm. Sig guns usually have good quality. I would have preferred a comparison between the 2022 and regular P229 not the Elite. Kinda of snobbish to compare the two. Not everyone has money to spend on an expensive gun. The guns are different and should be. Duh…
One of the first guns that I ever shot two years ago at 49 years old. I really liked it. Since then I have bought eight guns and shot about 50 guns. My two new guns are the M&P 2.0 FULL SIZE 9MM with TFX PRO SIGHTS and a Shield 2.0 9mm with factory night sights. Like both of them more than the Sigsauer p2022.
I have one SP2022, changed the recoil spring for a Galloway captive spring. Bought 15+2 magazines from Sig and also bought a short trigger from Sig (for shooters with small hands) and plan to change the sights for trijicom XD. Thus, THERE ARE options to upgrade your SP2022 and make it better. From my perspective, a great gun out of the box for a very reasonable price!
My owners manual (and half the internet) suggests having a professional swap the sights out with a special tool. Are they really that difficult to DIY?
Wow. This comment section is amazing. I don’t hear him trashing the budget gun. He’s pointing out some differences between it and a gun that’s more than twice the price tag, made by the same manufacturer. A fair thing to point out. But half the comments are badmouthing his opinions expressed about a gun he spent his money on, and spent his time making a video and posting to RUclips. How do his opinions affect your love affair with the gun you own? If the SP2022 is your favorite gun and the best shooting gun you have, then why do you care what someone else thinks about it?
I appreciate it. I've found that I'm a little too honest with gear reviews and most people don't want that, they want to hear glowing reviews about guns they already have, which is why people like Sootch and Hickock have a strong presence.
J Helmsing I can’t handle Sootch. I find Hickok entertaining, but don’t look to his videos for information. I feel like a lot of people get offended because a $500 gun is their unicorn because that’s what their finances allows. There’s nothing wrong with that, but to get so aggro because they can’t afford the better fit and finished guns is just ridiculous. I have a 226 Legion in 9mm I bought myself and carry as my duty gun. One of my favorite off duty guns is a M2.0 compact. I like them both but the Legion is a much nicer gun. It’s to be expected and people shouldn’t get offended because of it.
Good approach on a relative evaluation of two same manufacturer platforms vs. a direct comparison since as you have stated the precision and overall performance of each fits a different tier of handgun performance and use expectation....in other words the one that works best for you and your budget is the right one from a quality maker. As many have commented I too find the use of SP2022 and a "nicer" Sig like a P226 MK25 great platforms and when owning both one can complement the other. Thanks!
Aside from the differences in the triggers, I'm not surprised that you have different shooting experiences between the two pistols you compare. It might make more sense comparing the 2022 to another polymer framed gun like a Glock or whatever. Metal framed pistols have a much different feel and in 9mm the metal framed pistols probably lend themselves to significantly faster shooting as you have more mass to absorb recoil. I can say though that the 2022 trigger is much, much nicer than my M9A1 which cost $200 more and the A1 shoots nicer as far recoil and such but again, shouldn't be a big surprise.
I have the sp2022 in 40 and the pinky extension is a must for me if it didn't have it my whole pinky would be off the bottom of the gun. But I am blessed with an extremely wide hand
I know I’m late to this video but I was wondering if anyone could let me know how thick the sp2022 is. I have medium to large hands actually but I still prefer very slim handguns. Biggest problem with my mk25 was how absurdly bulky it was but fortunately the e2 grips helped a lot. I’ve been really interested in this sp2022 though. Seems like it’d be a great DA/SA carry gun for the colder months.
Good review. I like classic Sigs a lot but Ive been on the hunt for a light weight TDA carry pistol. 226’s and 229’s get heavy when carrying them everyday. I thought the 2022 would qualify but now I’m not so sure.
Gregg W I carried a Astra A-100 Sig P226 copy with differences for years. All steel. It is pretty heavy. I now carry a Bersa TPR9C all metal. Frame is aluminum. Full rails. Ambi snag free controls. Awesome trigger. Not nearly as heavy. Accurate and reliable. As small as it is it still may print in summer clothing a bit. So I am looking at the Sig P365 micro sub compact. Tiny high capacity 9mm pistol for deep concealment. Would prefer it in DA/SA hammer fired though. If the Bersa Thunder .380 even though single stack came in a 9mm, done deal and I would not even be looking at the P365. bersa.eagleimportsinc.com/bersa/tpr9c-matte
I’m Wondering how it compares to an FNX9 the two guns are very similar. I have the fnx but was thanking about buying the 2022 for me Since my wife took over my FN.
Well, first I'm a new subscriber and like your videos! Now, gonna upset some folks but "reset" is far overstated. In a bad situation or combat situation you will be "slapping" the trigger! In a "fight or flight" mode reset will be the last thing on your mind! Again, great video!
Since so many 2022 owners have watched this, I’d love to see if anyone has the large grip they’d be willing to sell/trade for a small/medium. Damn large grip is almost impossible to find...
That's awesome man, I grew up like 10 minutes away from there. I still shoot there to this day. God bless and thank you for putting your life on the line for me and my country everyday Brotha.
Gun reviews have always perplexed me, simply because reviewers take a microscopic, detailed view of a gun in order to explain it, but what all of us really want to know is, “what is the best application for a particular firearm?” For instance… I’m a Sig fanatic, but wasn’t that long ago. I was an HK hound, and refused to carry anything other but I have learned, others…do exist. My EDC is a 365X with the HE507KGRX2 and a couple of other accoutrements for fun. My low down and dirty is an SP2022 .040 cal. I also have a tuxedo gun and a SHTF pistol as well. All serve a purpose and all do what they claim. Find what works for you and keep it close.
The 229 is slightly better but it ain't twice as good Ive shot both. I haven't shot the SRT trigger version. They feel close enough when firing. I group best with my sp2022 better than with a p229 or 226 but those are non SRT triggers.
I'm pleased to hear the pistol that costs twice as much is better. I would feel bitter if it wasn't. I bought the 2022 because the 226 was more than twice the price. Doesn't stop me wanting the 226 though. Wish I could have the BMW but right now I have to make do with the Toyota. My plan is to one day have the 2022 as a carry piece and the 226 for the range. That would be tons of fun.
i own the sig 229 SSE and the sp2022, i enjoy shooting both guns except the slide release on the 2022, who is the dope that design that, does anybody sell a smaller slide release for that gun?
Mrs Hudson who? The National Police force of France... the 2022 is a French Cop gun, it was made for them and incorporated the exact features they wanted. Over 300,000 is in service with them. I happen to like a slide release I can reach with my thumb... this gun is easy to operate one handed if wounded.... which was the point
Comparing the SP2022 to a p229 elite is an apples to oranges comparison. I own the SP2022, and two of my best friends own base models of the P226 in 40 S&W, and a P229 in 9mm. I've shot the guns side by side several times and, to me, the two feel and shoot almost identically, aside from the increased recoil of the 40 cal. The triggers are almost identical as well. Unless someone is really into Sig's hammer guns, which I'm not, I would actually recommend the SP2022 over the metal frames. If I was to recommend a metal frame gun I'd suggest an Beretta (M9A3, 92x, or an LTT), or a CZ SP01 custom.
Show the SP2022 rails! The rails are short and tiny by comparison to the long rails of the P229. It is not going to shoot as smooth or soft. Less contact area between slide and frame. The takedown is harder and trigger not as good but not a deal breaker. It is Sig's budget pistol though if there is such a thing so its not going to be as good. A good pistol but still not as good as the better made Sigs.
@@jhelmsing Pistols today would shoot so much better if they had longer rails. When I can see daylight between the slide and frame of a pistol I know there is going to be more felt recoil.
I am a little undecided. I have the SP2022 in 40 and 257 sig. With the 357 Sig one can reach over 700 ftlb. My P220 +P can reach about 700 ft lb and my P225 9mm +p can reach about 500 ft lb. My P938 been a pocket gun stays out of the equation, but for city carry, is the lightest and smallest. But going to family get togethers in the country, with posible bear and cougar, don't quite know the best caliber (aside from shot placement). Recoil is not enough to steer me to any of the three, but the 357 Sig being the lightest...
why would anyone compare a Camry to a Lexus? It only cost you about the same for a Glock, but I also got holster and a tactical flashlight as a whole package, it's a great value for that price tag. The trigger reset point is indeed longer than a lot of options out there, and the grip is not as close to the slide as a Glock, barrel is less than 4"(yes, size matters). So I can see why this Sig is not the top choice for most pro gunners. But if you are a beginner who just looking for a budget pistol to practice the fundamentals, such as trigger pull, grip, recoil control etc, and don't worry too much about rapid shooting just yet, then this is definitely a reliable and affordable choice.
Ridiculous.... this gun is amazing for what it is. This video is comparing a Camaro to a Corvette. "Both are great!!!... But the Vett is a Vett"...Well no shit genius... Who compares the 2022 to a 229..? The gun is accurate and reliable. Shoots straight and goes bang when you pull the trigger. Why compare it to a gun that costs twice as much? Dumb as reviews like this just end up leaving a bad taste in the mouth for a RELIABLE and ACCURATE gun.
You're probably right... but I foam at the mouth a little when I see completely illogical comparisons. Guns are nothing more than tools, and should, for the most part, be treated like tools and not extensions of egos or "class". It should be judged by it's ability to perform it's intended purpose. The 2022 was never intended to compete with OTHER Sigs at considerably higher price points.
It's not a competition, it is a comparison. I mention several times the price difference. I do not talk ill of either gun. If you don't want to see the two guns compared simply don't click on the video. I know for several, including myself, the debate on whether to Shell out more for a P229 was absolutely relevant when looking at the SP2022. I'm not questioning your points because most are very valid, but I am questioning both your delivery and absolute overreaction to a gun analysis video. It's your choice of weapon. Awesome. It's a great gun. I'm not criticizing your first born. If you don't like my reviews there are litterally thousands of others out there that may cater more to what you find acceptable to watch. My channel, my take, my opinion. I won't apologize for it.
+Mark Wilford: I'm not sure what you are talking about. I didn't say it wasn't a fine weapon, I said it wasn't up to the grade of the P229 or P226 and it isn't...
Mark you are so correct. Some guys are so bias but without knowing they are. The 2022 shoots so close to my 226s that it is insane to spend another dollar for the 226 or 229. I have the 226 in 9mm and 40. And I honestly feel because of saving the 10 ounces the 2022 is better. But when a person has a mental problem about a product creep into their mind (magazine lip) some guys can't let it go and they hold on to that non-issue for life. And this guy carried it to the range with him. I like this gentleman. And I know he is a GREAT guy. But the most resent example of peter strock thought he and lisa page had zero bias against Trump but texted to each other that they hated him. I know J doesn't hate this 2022 but the only thing he can find wrong is a 3mm piece of plastic. LOL Now this kid is carrying a G19 Gen5 OMG the worlds worst trigger behind a HiPoint (and that is questionable). And I love the G19 G3 with a trigger job. Love it. BTW Mark the new 2022 has an internal extractor and makes the trigger even better. And makes the Sig even more like a USP I think.
your to damn longwinded about not liking the p 2022. so what its not a 800 dollar 226. it wasnt meant to be. your rant on here isnt about the virtues of the 2022 but more about the 226. get over yourself. i have the p-250 in .40 and the 2022 in .40. no they arent 9mm. im not one to get pidgeon holed on type or caliber. both of my sigs with shoot juast as accurate as my brothers 226 and 229. if your not as accurate that sounds like a personal problem. i have three EDC guns, p-250 sp 2022, and an officers model 1911. i feel well armed with any of the three. and i have about the same cash outlay on both of my SISGS as i would have on one single 226 or 229. just my opinion.
I was going to reply to this but I don't know where to start. The SP2022 is a good gun, and I say as much. It us not to the same caliber as the metal Sig P guns and I say as much. Is the difference worth twice as much to buy a metal hammer gun instead? Probably not, and I say as much.
@@jhelmsing you say, you say. yea in a round about halfassed way you do say that. but from the very beginning of your video in a round about way you are putting emphasis on what the 2022 is NOT compared to the 226. and again in a round about way you point out what the 2022 is not in comparison. but thats absolutley ok. you are VERY much entitled to your opinion. as am I. THATS WHAT MAKES OUR NATION WHAT IT IS. IT JUST MY OPINION THAT IN COMPARISON TO MY BROTHERS TWO SIGS MINE PERFORM JUST AS WELL. AGAIN BECAUSE I AM A BETTER SHOT AND BETTER TRAINED WITH MY FIREARMS SHOULD THAT DETRACT FROM THE 226 AND 229? NO IT SHOULDNT. ITS TO EACH THEIR OWN. BUT ONE THING INDISPUTABLE IS I HAVE WAY LESS IN MY TWO SIGS AS HE DOES AND I DONT FEEL OUT GUNNED BECAUSE OF PRICE. AGAIN MATTER OF CHOICE.
The SP2022 should not be expected to be of the “caliber” of the P229 given it’s price point. Was it not more or less developed as a service pistol for the French police? I own both and each has its place. Na dif you like studying internal mechanics then you can learn a lot from Sig Classtic P series lime P229, vs The SP 2022 with a hammer block in poly frame vs a Sig 1911 vs a Sin striker fired pistol.
i cant buy your review. I have a sp 2022, and it's very accurate, and yes, there is a great comparison ( you said no comparison). Perhaps there is a contrast between the two pistols, but the sp2022 is a very reliable and accurate. Sorry to knock down your review. However, your contrasts is non sequitur.
the $400 gun just feels a little cheap compared to the $1000 gun......well yeah its half the price....I own both and I dont agree at all with what you said. If someone who has never shot either of these guns was blindfolded and shot a couple clips of both guns, there is zero chance they could tell you which gun is which. They shoot identical and of course some of the material on the 2022 is a little cheaper, its half the price! They are both great guns but if i could go back Id rather buy two 2022's rather than one 229.
The best way to describe the Sig 2022 is it’s durability. If I had to compare it to a truck 🤔 let’s go with the ‘96 Dodge Ram Cummins 4 x 4. PERIOD! If you need more explanation… I can’t help you. 😅
Why do u compare that 2022 to a premium 229? Compare it to the guns in it's class n budget...I watched your first video of the 2022 u had no complaints n spoke highly of it. U even mentioned the similarities of the 2022 n 229 now u saying the 2022 is a piece of shit compared with 229.. u keep saying they don't compare u knew that shit before u made the video. .why would u compare a premium gun, cost more, made better to a budget, cheap gun? Compare your 229 with better competition n with other premium guns..u spoke highly of the 2022 in your first video maybe influenced other to go out n buy it , then u bash the gun in the second video...I'm unsubscibing to your channel
Your ambivalent about the SP2022 i think because of the grip - E2 material, texture, shape and lack of a secure hold . Not as battle secure as say a PDP Full Size.I think Sigs in general lack the palm filling side panel contours of say a basic CZ75 B 's stock rubber checkered contour grips. You know that the French bought 20.000 of these 2022's so there must be some trust in this model? I understand your doubts and you should just say that you would could sleep better with a Glock G19X. Its valid. Dont worry about others less experienced opinions. Say it. This is not the rool for you. But also tell your audience that it depends on their experience, their feeling holding this chassis vs Glocks, CZs, Walthers, Sig P226 or 229s. Add more, share your work and battle experience into your dialogue. It wii justify your opinion and advice to your viewers. CD, living 48 miles from Sig Sauer HQ here in NH. ✌️🎶☮️🇺🇲🗽

The French police replaced their 92fs copies with this pistol. So your opinion runs against a panel for the decision of replacing a national police firearm. You decide. In addition only 12% of the time US police departments shootings have found their target, including the timrs when they shot the wrong person or anorher police officer. In other words our PDs have pretty lousy record. I have this pistol in 40/357 sig. Veru easy to shoot, but not the favorite sig in my safe.
I have both in 40 cal but my P229 is the standard version. The standard P229 vs the Elite wouldn't fair any better than the SP2022 does.

I just tell people to just shoot it before you buy it and everything else will come together. Great words though sir.
We’ll said, thanks for your comment. My three are: fast point shooting ergonomics, combat reliable, combat accurate with a variety of ammo.
I've had this gun for at least 6 years with many rounds thru it. Never a hiccup. It's a great weapon. I put a laser on it and it sits on my nightstand.
My sig 2022 in .40 recoils less than any other .40 i have shot. Its my concealed carry pistol.
Its because of the heavy slide that sigs are known for. The huge slide compared to most other slides is substantial. You just cant compare the M&P 40 slide/recoil to the 2022 in .40. Heavier slide equal less felt recoil.
I was wondering about this gun in 40 caliber already have the Sig p250 40cal and it's my EDC and sometimes 19

Preference impressions seems a more accurate description for this videos.
+Ralph Hoffmann awesome, thanks for the tips!
Steel guid rods do not affect muzzle flip in any noticeable way. People choose them because theyre afraid the plastic ones may break. They are just not heavy enough the really rexuce the felt recoil
Galloway Precision trigger for the 2022 makes a huge difference.
CRAZY.

I sent an email asking about anything for the 2022 and just got this response from Gray Guns: Hi Richard,
Not yet, but we're going to have something for that before too much longer. 3/25/20
I added a Galloway Hannibal trigger to mine. Nice adjustable trigger for an awesome handgun.
+1stnamebassist I'd like to see a review of that if you have time!
+1stnamebassist: hard to beat a Sig trigger for sure.
For future videos, when you talk about/show trigger length and resets, could you turn the pistol around, so as to show it, without your trigger finger in the way? Thanks!! 👍
Contrary to popular belief the sp 2022 is not Sigs 1st polymer pistol. The 1st was actually to the 2009, then the 2340 (.40 cal) version to the 2009.
Not everyone has 800 to 900 to spend on a 229. I honestly hate biased reviews. Just sat the 229 is better would have saved several minutes
I'd be more interested in a hammer spring option than a recoil spring.
Really odd that you say the SP2022 can't be modded, I'm seeing all over the place that it can.
I have a 226 and a 2022. Both great handguns but the 2022 does feel "different". I wouldn't say cheaper, even though it costs half what a 226 does.
Thanks!
Good honest reflection. Thanks
The sig 2022 is a damn good gun.
But I am blessed with an extremely wide hand
i'd rather have two SP2022 compared to 1 p229
any day
So if the 2022 was around the same price$$$$ as of the 226s,229s it would be consider a great gun ??? Just saying.😎😉
Does your 2022 have some kind of fiber optic or red colored dot for the front sight, or does the lighting just make it look that way?
Gray Guns is making some trigger stuff for the 2022
I've heard this but haven't seen anything yet...
It was DESIGNED as a military/LEO handgun from the getgo. Mine doesn't 'feel cheap' at all.

Wish it has the more modern take-down latch like the other Sigs. The 1911 style take-down latch seems antiquated on a modern gun.
Good honest review 👏
I’m Wondering how it compares to an FNX9 the two guns are very similar. I have the fnx but was thanking about buying the 2022 for me Since my wife took over my FN.

Well, first I'm a new subscriber and like your videos!
Now, gonna upset some folks but "reset" is far overstated. In a bad situation or combat situation you will be "slapping" the trigger! In a "fight or flight" mode reset will be the last thing on your mind!
Again, great video!
Walter Miner I totally agree. So many people focus on such minutia.
Sig on a workin man's budget..
Since so many 2022 owners have watched this, I’d love to see if anyone has the large grip they’d be willing to sell/trade for a small/medium. Damn large grip is almost impossible to find...

That's the place!
That's awesome man, I grew up like 10 minutes away from there. I still shoot there to this day. God bless and thank you for putting your life on the line for me and my country everyday Brotha.
I lived in Yorktown from ‘06-18, and miss it greatly. I’d drive to Richmond on weekends every chance I had. Take a stroll at Short Pump for me. 😉
What can you do to a P226 that you can’t do to the SP2022 ?grips and that is it!
The 229 is slightly better but it ain't twice as good Ive shot both. I haven't shot the SRT trigger version. They feel close enough when firing. I group best with my sp2022 better than with a p229 or 226 but those are non SRT triggers.
Why do people complain about reset on a double action Single action gun isn't every shot in single action after the first, why does reset matter?
Excellent comparison. Thanks.
Is this gun supposed to compete against the px4 storm? If not what is
This gun originally predated the Storm. I don't think the Storm came out until around '05.
Are you in Virginia bro?

+ghostrider_118 Jay those annoying things always start when I get ready to video!
Great Sig..only problem I notice is finding the 15rd mags...
Gun mag warehouse they should have them
Academy has them for under $40. In 2021.
i own the sig 229 SSE and the sp2022, i enjoy shooting both guns except the slide release on the 2022, who is the dope that design that, does anybody sell a smaller slide release for that gun?
Mrs Hudson who? The National Police force of France... the 2022 is a French
Cop gun, it was made for them and incorporated the exact features they wanted.
If I was to recommend a metal frame gun I'd suggest an Beretta (M9A3, 92x, or an LTT), or a CZ SP01 custom.
my mindset with guns is like guitars one of each, I love my H&K's but I don't mind branching out haha ☆ this firearm looks like a hell of a bargain,
Show the SP2022 rails!
Excellent points.
Big animal defence calls for a Glock 10mm. There are 3 different sizes. I have the 6.02" G40. 💚
why would anyone compare a Camry to a Lexus?
A pinky extension is a weird design and you don't know why it's there?!?! Really?
Hey Jay love the hat by the way Hoosier buddy! In addition I love my SP2022 and very accurate!
+Joey Owens: Hoo Hoo
Ridiculous.... this gun is amazing for what it is. This video is comparing a Camaro to a Corvette. "Both are great!!!... But the Vett is a Vett"...Well no shit genius... Who compares the 2022 to a 229..? The gun is accurate and reliable. Shoots straight and goes bang when you pull the trigger. Why compare it to a gun that costs twice as much? Dumb as reviews like this just end up leaving a bad taste in the mouth for a RELIABLE and ACCURATE gun.
There is probably a less mouth-foaming way to get your point across.
Meh...
If you have to have the best trigger to be accurate its kinda of a handicap
Shame on you , it’s a fine weapon.
@@JD-hs7ib In a earlier video he praised the 2022 but in this video he seems to trash the 2002 by comparing it to the 229, 226

your to damn longwinded about not liking the p 2022. so what its not a 800 dollar 226. it wasnt meant to be. your rant on here isnt about the virtues of the 2022 but more about the 226. get over yourself. i have the p-250 in .40 and the 2022 in .40. no they arent 9mm. im not one to get pidgeon holed on type or caliber. both of my sigs with shoot juast as accurate as my brothers 226 and 229. if your not as accurate that sounds like a personal problem. i have three EDC guns, p-250 sp 2022, and an officers model 1911. i feel well armed with any of the three. and i have about the same cash outlay on both of my SISGS as i would have on one single 226 or 229. just my opinion.
Tiny hands??????
Me? I'm the opposite.
i cant buy your review.
Uh ok?
P2022 vs P229 was never going to be fair comparo. P2022 should be compared to other polymers such as G17, Spingfield XD, and MP9 2.0.
I hope it filks5 cheaper than the 229..hell if it didn't..why would I ever buy the 229 over the 2022
The best way to describe the Sig 2022 is it’s durability.
Sorry to hear that, but no. I didn't bash it. I simply said that in a direct comparison I prefer the P229.
I cant hit the broad side of a barn with mine
Needs a better trigger that trigger pull on that thing is horrible..

As most know, government "panels" look primarily at cost. I stand by my statements.
Don't blame your poor marksmanship on the tool in toolbox, blame you!
