Stand in Line would be the pinnacle of early 80s Oils stage intensity. Fantastic bass from Giffo and guitar magic from Jim and Marty. Add Rob and Peter and you have 5-piece chemistry at its Aussie finest.
They were a total and utter force of nature. I remember feeling like I had been run over by a fleet of tanks after seeing them in 1983 at the Sydney Ent Cent.
Do you remember when PG climbed up the scaffolding singing, he then moneybags on the front and centre of the stage and sang the rest of the song hanging by one arm bent over the frame. Most amazing thing I ever saw
That concert ,Was held ,just south of Gloucester, NSW, I had friends who went ,but I think my parents, thought I was just a bit to young for rock festivals. So nice someone recorded at least part of it.
I was watching Garrett when he pulled that Tshirt off his head & a jet stream formed behind his head, blew me & a mates mind, what a concert, the whole long weekend was mind blowing, so many great bands, those were the days
did you see the complete nutter with the crossbow? He was off his head, yelling at the stage announcer when they were shutting down coz of the weather, he had a bag of bolts. I went over to the info centre and reported him to the cops who wanted me to walk with them and point him out lol no way was i going with them! I said ''he's over that rise about 150 metres, tall guy about 6'2, no shirt big eagle tattooed on his back, off his boatrace sceaming obscenities, ya can't miss him''
Oh god yes! Tim Finn just walked up to the mic and says '' Hard act to follow'' and launched into the song. I'm a huge Enz fan and felt so sorry for them cos the crowd visibly thinned out but they, like me, were totally spent!! Split Enz were of course brilliant but they were following the best rock set I've ever seen, it was incredibly powerful!!
The fact that five guys can make an infectious racket that resonates 40 years later is absolutely amazing.
The greatest Australian band!
Without doubt
I think this is one of the best versions.. Simply awesome..
Gifford’s bass is so great. Jazzy and fat and perfect.
So great. Gives so much movement to what's going on.

Ahhhh. Whatta band, whatta great time to be alive and in the front row!
Was up the front at that concert, just remember the steam off Garrett's head, crazy good
I was about 6 rows from the stage taking photos in a maelstrom, best gig ever! I still rave about it all the time.
Same. what concert to see the oils for the first time
