Ken Block is a show off, he is unable to win a race so he does Gymkahana.
ken block simply likes drifting and that's all he needs/wants there is no need for racing it's simply worthless just for a trophy

I'm really not in a position to judge Ken Block or his driving ability (in any context) because I'm not a professional driver. Given the raft of rather strong opinions below, I had no IDEA that so many professional rally drivers frequented RUclips and took the time to comment. That said, I enjoyed the video, boys. Well done and thanks for sharing :D
People hate on ken for being a bad driver in WRC, but just being in the WRC is amazing

You guys have no idea what its like to love Rally in the US. If it's not freaking NASCAR no one cares. I am just really happy to see an American in the WRC, it brings more attention to it here. HE is a great driver but the WRC is one of the most difficult challenges any driver can face.

to all you who repeatedly talk down a rally driver, i would like to see you each keep full control of a car with that much horsepower around any turn. let alone with the struggles of mechanical issues involved. Shut your mouths unless you actually know what its like to truly drive.
rally cars dosen´t have much horsepower, around 300...

It's central limited slip diff (LSD) , which split the power front-rear depending on situation...
It can even split fully to rear, like you saw in this vid

Judging by the "Agua! Agua!" Comments, I'm guessing he got two of the tires in a ditch. AWD cars have 3 diffs, front, central, and rear. Usually the center and rear diffs are limited slip in Rally cars. The drift was initated before he slid off, so it's possible the center diff (Clutch pack) didn't immediatly re-engage when they first started, and he was left in 2wd for a bit. Other possibility? AWDs can get stuck if 2 wheels on the same end don't have enough traction and spin freely.

i honestly don't understand how people can crash this much, an athlete should be able to feel his surroundings and feel his equipment. I'd love to spend a day in a car like this just to see how hard it really is

i dont prais up ken block religiously but he's a really good driver. its rally racing, probobly the most unpredictable form of racing. i doubt there is is single rally driver that hasnt went off the road. so people need to leave him and many other people alone, ive learned to
ken block could never rally! he is just a good show driver that drives around air field spaces and airplane hangers with plenty of room and plenty of pover to control the car,

i seen him rally in ireland with top notch wrc rally cars and the local lads hammering him with home built mk11 escorts, i seen him, hes not that highly skilled!
***** i have a car, mk11 1600Xflow, class 10, i have competed in rallys here in ireland with him, but, he is in a compleetly different class to me, where my car cost me 38,000 k to build and by doing the wotk my self as i have a garage and body repair shop, his cost 320,000k big difference in finances. so there u go kid!

The car was set up for Tarmac, lowered and with semi slicks. As soon as he hit the grass it might as well been ice, then he got high centered because the car is lowered for handling.
Punctured tire that wasnt flat till around lap3-4 or not he still didnt keep up with Loeb. I don't hate on Ken at all I enjoy the gymkhana vids and such and hope he helps bring some north american attention to rally. And yes for a guy who started as late as he has, he isn't doing too bad. It is simply people getting sick of fanboys claiming hes the best when he obviously isn't, so they focus that hate towards Ken for simply doing what he enjoys.

Actually, in big drifting comps, like D1GP or Formula D, having an AWD car is restricted. AWD "drifting" is just powersliding, since counter-steering is not necessary. It's really just throttle control and skidding, whereas actual drifting with a RWD car is a bit more challenging
so, with that math, Ken Block does his stunts 20000001 times?! That seems like a real driver to me! ;]

@07wrx530 What are you on about? The Rally Spec focus cars are AWD and he left Subaru because withdrew from the WRC scene full stop, they didn't drop Ken. Ford then offered him a contract driving for them, which si a good move for both team and driver as they are excelling.

Ideally yes. However the system is not perfect. Most AWDs do have a fault of if 2 tires on the same side do not have grip, the whole system fails. As I mentioned before, if he had initated a drift by pulling the E-brake, in most rally cars the same action disconnects the front from the rear so the rear can lock up and not detonate the transfer case. In the excitment, he might have forgotten to disengage, or alternatively it got stuck open for a bit. Only their crew chief knows exactly.

I'm sure they're AWD but they don't have lockers like trucks do that's for sure. Limited slip makes the tires spin especially if they're stuck.
Look at his Gymkhana vids. Pre-existing tire marks will show you where a shot is his second, third, or fourth try at a particular drift. In WRC, you only have that one attempt...
Whether you like it or not, he can rally better than you'll ever be able.

I respect your opinion on you not liking his shoe company but numbers don't lie and his shoe line is doing well. As for the not commiting part, i agree with you. I wish he could commit to show that he has potential. Not potential to be a champion but to have good runs. You should at least respect that fact he worked hard to live his dream. If you don't respect that. then idk. thats weird :)

Most of the rally he drives in YOU could enter with the right licences. He can drive, but he is no pro rally driver, just an amateur. Rally X is different and he is pro at the that.

He is the king of Gymkhana, not a rally racer. The best rally racer who never crashed is Sevastian Loeb, he is the beast!

Ken Block was never into rally racing. He focused on other sports and his business. He is co founder and CBO of DC shoes. He became interested in rally in 05ish. For someone whos never rallied until his mid 30s (44 now), you have to admit he's come a long way in a short amount of time. Lastly, its not like hes finishing in last every race and in standings. There are worse drivers in WRC (who in my eyes are good to even be there). He's not even running a full schedule in WRC. Learn some respect.

Ok now you are "what if" ing this. He obviously had all the right tools and other people can have those available if they work hard enough and are dedicated enough you have to start some where and yes records are meant to be broken there is always some one better. I am just stating that we are human and we make mistakes and people saying he wrecked so he sucks and isnt a pro are ignorant, with a crazy thought that "if I had the money I could beat him" Dedication and motivation my friend
ken isnt the best rally driver but he's one of the better ones. one of the best drifters though
hes done some videos where he drifts tighter spots on the street so probably just under estimated the downhill slope + his speed
the drift scenes are just made with professional drift drivers. not the protagonists in the film itself. vin diesel does his stunts on to stunt men, so also in the drift scenes.
