The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com
Gonna miss him
I love how the co-driver keeps it real on that hairpin turn and just like, "hey ken... it's fucking slippery here... so watch your shit."
i love ford's engine/gearbox sound, like groansss
RIP Ken
@RallyeMadCom We pick onboards from the fans that have requested them. We ask for JWRC and SWRC drivers that are requested but it's not always possible to get. Often they have just not been recorded or there was a fault with the tape. It's fair to say we have plenty of onboards of "Top drivers" on our channel, however if there is anything in particular you would like to see let us know and we will do our best to get it up. We only put up the requests we recieve.
Rip champion
@MaNiaGCoD He was in Rally USA before, why does everyone hate on him so hard? He is new to the game and motor sport isn´t easy to master, it takes great courage putting your life on the line in the quest for speed. It isn´t a video game if you hadn´t noticed, it is real life with real consequences! Just ask the late Dan Wheldon
He is a very talented driver! Everyone makes mistakes... With a lot of practice he might actually get really good!
good driving :) love the WRC !
THANKS FOR UPLOAD THE VIDEO!!!!!
fantastic ken, done well for your 1st year in the rally.
@Realfootbal There should be some new cars coming out next year. One of them is a mini but are ford doing one?
@elpanfis
in the us it's rallycross now? I've been to a few events and they are fun to watch. i actually have a video from one. the spectator spots aren't always that great. the special stages are sweet though.
request: Walktrough of the common principles used by all teams when it comes to aspiration, transmission, suspension, engine and electronics such as the lunchcontrol. plz! I'm a tech nerd dying to learn......
ele é um ótimo piloto!! para mim ele é o segundo depois do shum dai vem eu no vácuo..rs
Woah! It's KEN BLOCK and SUPER MARIO!
He really should join the P-WRC instead of WRC. It's too hard for him.
@elpanfis
there are no offense here xD ...
this is the place were we can debate and rebate our video conclussions ..
thanks for answering
awesome. i can't wait for Dirt3. i just hope its more rally with long stages like this. Ken Block doesn't seem to Haul ass like he does in the gymkhana vids tho.
damn, people on the comment section is all rally driver
The co-driver sounds like a European teacher teaching a WRC class to American student...
@wrc thanks for reply!please dont take my comment as a offense.i know you also upload great onboards of top drivers.i have requestet a lot of onboards in the past,in your profile and with messages too,e.g. from brynildsen on ss18 at francebut never received one.but no problem,i know you cant reply to all requests.anyways, i´m always looking forward to the onboards,but a little different drivers from several categroys,on stages where they pushed hard(i always request those) would be great,thx!
@omarspence He is most likely on gravel tires for the tarmac which is why he doesn't want to wreck the car there
his co-driver is very good, despite his funny accent
@TebAnCT no , he did powerslide, not drifting ..its different
@machine3code I think you're on to something. I do see him leaving a good amount on the table in the tarmac sections
@glavorezia gravel tires??? dunno
@andrew2113 Rally America as they knew it was the equivalent of the european P-WRC (sort of, not exactly the same) in terms of speed, but now they have changed it to rallycross, which may appear more attractive to the masses.
@wjones1982uk well said it was his dream and he went fro it they are football clubs in England that just want to make it to the top league nothing more. Some of them do and then they get relegated that same year and the go with a smile, the same applies here! Hes doing what he loves!
the sound gets fucked up when theres a glitch at the turn by the fence, the sound is then too far ahead of the video making him seem even slower
Ken block is RIP
@Realfootbal
I'm not trying to hate on him, i love the guy. he's great at what he does. But, he's 42 years old. He's chasing a child's dream.
What the hell is the shadow at 5:16 ?
Seems he drives faster on dirt than tarmac... seems a bit odd. Maybe trying to save tires?
Where are the group b days?
@Persio91 saw an interview with him this morning and he said he told the sponsered he was going to get clammoured he knew that so stop stressing
Watch villagra drive the Spain ss06 for a TRUE wrc experience. Ken block needs to find the gas pedal.
WRC Lenguage FTW...
senza offendere nex.. ma in alcuni tratti i lenti dello sterrato e alcuni sull'asfalto..sembra esitare..non spinge al max ..forse nn conosce la tappa come le sue tasche...ma mi sembra indugiare molto; visti anche i risultati
Hening Solberg was 0.7s slower than him in a Fiesta S2000 in this stage... That alone tells you guys how slow he is!
Is it just me or is the C4 mach faster than Ken Blocks car? :D
why is he driving so sluggishly though, is it cos' of the gravel on the corners ?
@jannkoo you go drive lol it take heart a guts to do that lol and hes not that confident on tarmac either so this 9th place he was delighted with!
Good driving for Ken Block; very good driving;the problem is; his driving it's not SuperB; those is for Loeb; Solberg; Sordo; Latvala etc. realy surprised me Block; i hope a most amateur asphalt driving and is not
in title is nothing about slow-motion..
@schormand That's ridiculous not because Block is great but because the depth of competition in the WRC sucks. He's already breaking top ten against way more seasoned competitors at rallys he has never been before with barely formed WRC level skills. However good or bad he is it is clear he is as good as many others in WRC. If Block is a joke than so is WRC and all but the top 4 drivers too.
Ken Block is not for WRC, just for drifting on gymkhanaa !
@PerrenEcho gravel on camera
wait... was he having a problem on the tarmac or why in the hell was he going so slowly on it? or does it just seems like it?
@oOoironhideoOo No offense, but I don´t think he overspeeds... Or speeds at all... What is costing him time is in my opinion he is breaking too early on the corners, but then again, he is just learning, and has done a better job than, let´s say, Matt Wilson, who has been in the WRC in many seasons and still can´t find his speed... Even Villagra has done a better job on some seasons, but needs practice (and budget) to do it.
i think he overspeeds too much aproaching to corners, and that is costing him gold time ..
sometimes it looks like i would be faste with my street legal car
this is not rally. this is recce my friend block.
@schormand Exactly what i was thinking way too bloody slow!
Also better to finish a stage late, then not at all and get whatever points you can!
@wjones1982uk Passing Matthew Wilson on stages doesn´t count because he is as slow as helll hahaha... But seriously, what Block is doing is try to get the US audiences to this sport, and he has the money to do it... Sure, there are lots of drivers who can do a better use of a car like this (eg. Chris Atkinson, PG Andersson, and so on), but he has the money and the deal, so we´ll have to accept it, like we did last year with Conrad Rautenbach or Khalid Al Qassimi...
this would be a nice track at dirt 3
John Wayne is that you?
watch Ferderico Villagra on the same stage, is much faster. you can make a split screen to compare the two...
i´m sorry, but i just dont understand the way the onboard request´s are chosen. villagra and block, both on the same stage. then raikkönen at shakedown. its just boring. always the same drivers and almost no top driver onboards. i mean, nothing against block, villagra and raikkönen, but that they are not the fastest is known by everyone.
i would love to see some hard charging jwrc or swrc or some wrc driver that has set a remarkable stagetime or crashed wile pushing too mutch etc...
Hmmm Ken block.... What a joke :D Instead starting in WRC he should start some national rally in the US or in europe, as in Belgium or UK if he wants a good driver level.
Dude, he has won the rally in the 100 hundred acre woods 7 times.
@RallyeMadCom I agree 100% with you! WTF, watching this sh*t is boring as hell! They should choose at least some SWRC guys...
@fransesselaar Did you see how the other guys went through the asphalt sections? Certainly not... And even on gravel he's slow as hell! He doesn't deserve to be in the WRC. But he's there because of the money. Even with all the sponsors he has, he can't be truly good in his national championship, that's the true.
Get all these money clowns out of the WRC. Clowns like Wilson, Villagra, Block and Raikonnen. And then give their cars to someone truly competitive.
Right, 4, mushroom, grow big, over crest...
@andrew2113 nothing wrong with that :)
Dirty Mario and Ken Slow
super mario
the poor engine was dying to be used proper on the tarmac! damn gravel set up lol!
he should have just stuck to rally america. he's an impressive driver but world rally isn't his strong suit.
@Koksik444 *facepalm*
Can't watch until the end, lol. Camper.
woah hes slow...
looks a bit apprehensive. trust the car and pray to God or whoever. lol. when in doubt, flat out
first
....he is good driver, maybe the best in america...but he will never be in TOP 5 of WRC........when you see this vid, you see too early braking and very slow speed
too slow
I am not impressed at all. He has impressive showmanship on airfields etc. but he drives like an old lady here
pretty darn slow, low revs most of the time, not pushing, doesn't know the course or doesn't trust his navigator.
He was driving like if the tarmac was icy... Even on the gravel sections, he lifts the throtle on flat-out corners... Bah! Boring driving!
I've never seen a more boring WRC driving, so slooow
Ken Block doesn't know to drive...
my clio is faster
Wow I can drive faster than this..
Drive than
Most boring onboard WRC i've ever seen!
