The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.

Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.

I really wonder why rally isn't as popular as it used to be
I enjoy F1, DTM and endurance races but nothing beats Rally imo. the high speed jumps and cornering, nearly trading paint with trees at high speeds and just the overall sensation of speed and danger.
Rally really is the most exciting motorsport in the entire world
WRC was way better 80-early 00s because the cars were highly varied, the drivers were highly varied in skill sets, they had very different observable personalities, the progression in technology was relevant to normal people, and the competition for the championship was never stagnant and often came down to the wire. Today all the cars look exactly the same. Boring little grocery getters with big wheel arches. The tech developments don't translate to normal peoples cars, driver personalities are as interesting as watching paint dry, you had utter dominance of Loeb which killed any interesting competition and now VW drowning out its competitors by sheer budget to make another boring string of dominance. VW auto group did the same thing with Le Mans and ruined that with its Audi Protos.
I agree with everything you said. It's a pretty accurate description of the situation in WRC. I guess I just enjoy watching it without knowing any of the drivers, unlike in F1 where there names are constantly repeated and shown on screen I guess. Now I am not entirely sure what you mean by the Audi Protos, I don't think i've ever heard about that project before
He means the Audi LMP machines, most famously the Audi R8 that won Le Mans 5 times IIRC.
Totally agree. Rally drivers are just insane. For me Rally is the best and most skill-needing motorsport. Rally drivers can pretty much drive everything else, since once you can drive 200mph through a forest with bumps and curves and without any fences around, then you can pretty much handle anything.

@@memorablename5187 Le Mans is a defined track that repeats every couple minutes. That doesn't mean that high concentration wouldn't be needed but it's not at all comparable to rally.

Holy Mother of God! That is THE most insane driving I have EVER seen! It looks as if the footage is on fast-forward. Absolutely epic! The driver is a racing God! Absolute nerves of steel and insane ability! Formula 1, NASCAR, Top Fuel, or any other race you care to name ain't got shit on this type of racing. This type of racing separates the great drivers from the legendary ones. And it's astonishing that they race on a course with buildings and trees and rocks and all the other potentially lethal hazards just feet and inches away. And even some of the spectators should be called Extreme spectators being that they park themselves so damn close to the edge of the course. This would never allowed in the U.S. Damn it! I'm going to watch it again!

They do actually it's called the pikes peak hill climb. Happens in my " back yard" and some of the spectators there are stupid close.
***** there are many other courses to choose from. It is just that pikes peak is most famous. There is a course up in Deer trail, co. It is unpaved and it is a long track. I am not sure where spectators go because it doesn't say.
I’m not sure what’s more impressive the driver, the car or the tyres! Just so impressive there is technology in the the tyres that can keep a car and driver going at them speeds providing huge amounts of grip needed! All amazing!!! Loved rallying my entire life my dad took me before the age of 1 and it still gives me goose pimples watching it!

They have asked those who live there if they can use their road. And they are allowed to use it if they fix it afterwords. At least that is how it is done in Sweden.

if i woke up one day and saw wrc cars running just a few feet away from my yard, i would consider it the best day of the year. I just love them, I'm a car fanatic
January this year, I could just open my fron door, walk 10 meters, and I would see rally cars flying past for 6 hours straight.. happened to have a rally stage on the road we live on, from Finland:p
plus i wouldn't have to travel 100 miles away from my home to watch the rally in the mountain tops.

I thought this course was in dirt rally. I specifically remember a few parts of this course from playing it.
This isn't from Dirt Rally. Dirt Rally only has 1 real life Finnish stage, the famous Ouninpohja (~30km) which was split into 2 parts for the game. Those 2 parts were later split into 2 more parts and given reverse courses as well, resulting in those 12 Finnish stages in total, which in reality are different sectors of Ouninpohja.

maybe its because the car today are more driveable than the Gr. B cars. Today's cars also have around 500 hp but it is restricted to around 300 hp in the wrc, tyre technology is also better today than it was in the 80s.

As always: if someone can do it better than you, which i'm convinced of, he can't be too bad at it! Take Gigi Galli, he wasn't the best driver neither, just got 2 podiums, but everybody loved him and his publicity!
