    How has magnesium helped you?

      It is unbelievably important for everyone but has made a huge difference in reducing my son's seizures. He has severe intractable epilepsy, he is probably in the ball park of 90,000 seizures in the last 10 years. Adding magnesium, along with arming him with antioxidants like vitamin E complex, L Carnosine and Quercetin, have really helped raise is seizure threshold and reduce seizures. What lead me to magnesium was Dr. Russell Blaylock's books "Exitotoxins" and "Health and Nutrition Secrets That Can Save Your Life." I came across you channel many months ago learning to make tallow salve and lotion. Your blog and education channel are great. Thanks for sharing.

    Hello and greetings from New Zealand. I'm so pleased to have found your channel. I would like to make this recipe but due to cost of the actual oil it is cheaper for me to make the brine from chloride flakes. Would I need to use a preservative? If so how much? The preservatives i have on hand are phenonip equivalent, liquid thermal plus and Germaben. I appreciate your advice thank you.

    • @BumblebeeApothecary

      Hello! So nice to meet you 😊 I have found you don’t need a preservative, as the magnesium chloride works like salt does to inhibit bacteria and mold growth. You can use the flakes, just dissolve them in equal parts water 😊

      Yes, you can substitute any liquid oil you like. You can make your own brine with magnesium flakes, but epsom salt contains a different form of magnesium. Since the magnesium brine acts like a preservative in the same way salt does, I haven't found a preservative necessary :)

    Would you need a preservative due to the water in this product? What is keeping it from growing bacteria?

    • @BumblebeeApothecary
      @BumblebeeApothecary  5 лет назад +1

      Good question! Other lotions that contain pure water definitely need a preservative. Since this one contains magnesium oil/brine in the water portion, rather than pure water, I find it doesn't need a preservative. The high concentration of magnesium keeps bacteria and mold from growing, in my experience, very much like how salt acts as a preservative. Hope that helps!

      Thank you so much!! Great questions. I actually need to do an updated video on this. I do use a preservative (I use a natural, paraben free one that I like). Anytime water is used in a recipe, a preservative is necessary. So far beeswax has worked great for me for emulsifying. It depends on what ingredients you are using, so beeswax definitely doesn't work in all instances, but since I like to keep my ingredients very simple, it has always worked for me. Another thing I need to cover sometime is the process used to disinfect all of my equipment - also very important! I have seen Humblee Bee & Me, and she has great videos also! Thanks again :)
