It's so hard to explain why this song and these visuals work so well together. It taps in to this abstract feeling that is almost impossible to describe, it's like nostalgia but slightly different. It's a feeling I would get when I was a little kid, and my mom would take me to the store late at night just before closing. It would be past my bedtime, so I would feel tired but strangely a little energized at the same time. And there was something just a little bit eerie about being in an almost empty store, and hearing the intercom echo through the building. When the music plays in this video it's like I can hear it echoing off the walls and through all the aisles.
I completely get what you're saying, myself my mom and sister went to our local mall in the winter (so it wasn't exactly late it was like, maybe 6-7PM but it was basically night) and there's some odd pleasant feeling about being in a mall or target or big store like that at night time, might have to do with the lighting? Cause I know the lighting of a room can affect your senses to a point.
because the reverb of the song is like the void that all of your time, love, hope, fears, hatred, and life in general go into forever. Nothing ever returns from the void. As for the film itself, it shows two young people having fun despite shitty circumstances which is something we all relate too a little bit. You never forget those friends you had at your first job, you bonded over how much it sucked. But this crosses the line between reality and film when they do absurd stuff like eat microwave dinners at work and roller skate through the empty store. That's something we wish we did but obviously never would but the sentiment behind it we can relate to atleast. Overall it makes a pretty cool video.

In the 90s I was in my twenties and had this experience and can completely remember this feeling, it was the moment between the wishes and the fulfillment - that is the best moment! Time doesn't matter, duties are ignored, you find yourself between time and space... unique and fantastic!
If anyone is wondering the move is Career Opportunities. No lie this song made me actually rent the movie but I was disappointed with it. I still love the song like crazy and I love Jennifer Connolly. Check out Requiem for a Dream if you want to see her perform well
When I was a kid, my favorite movie was Labyrinth. Jennifer Connelly was my celebrity crush, and no matter how many times I watched that movie, it held me spellbound. In high school, I met a girl named Mary who kind of looked like Jennifer Connelly and who also loved Labyrinth, and we became good friends. Unsurprisingly, I had a huge crush on her. We would write each other notes and exchange them between classes, and we'd talk on the phone for hours. Every once in a while we'd hang out, and we even kissed a couple times. I asked her to be my girlfriend a few times, and she would give a sort of "maybe, I don't know" kind of answer. Actually, there were a couple instances in which she did want to be with me, but I was involved with someone else each time. She used to say, "One day, we'll be together. It's written in the stars." She wove these fantasy dreams, saying that it was our destiny to end up together. High school ended. We lost touch. Now I'm entering middle age, married, have children, living my life. But every once in awhile, something reminds me of those days, and all that I felt back then. Two dreamers, floating together in Labyrinth masquerade balls and high school dances ... now just old memories of a life that slipped away.
@esperthebad you probably never read that but if you do. There is a book which kind of describes your story. It's called "South of the border, west of the sun". It's really worth it!
This song plus the video makes me want to cry a little. It’s not sadness, just reflection and nostalgia. What a great idea to blend an old forgotten movie with this incredible song. The innocence of these two finding each other and having fun, a little intimacy--then it over.
I’m not that old but I feel it too, the best description is melancholy. My guess is maybe about missing how the world was before 9/11? We got our innocence stripped away
@@ataridc it was. i had never heard of it till yesterday when i stumbled on this video. i have absolutely no idea how I came to this video but I am extremely happy I did. And i watched the movie last night, it wasn't bad, but also not as good as something like Breakfast Club or even Home Alone.
This song and movie montage perfectly captures the feeling that I have when nostalgia hits. And when it hits this rolls on repeat. I'm grateful that this song keeps this special memory alive though it's bittersweet one. Thank you for reuploading it!
There’s a girl that I like and being almost 21 years old I’ve never asked a girl out. Many people tell me that I’m handsome but I don’t believe it, the first time I met this girl I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and talking to… the moment I entered the building she looked towards me and smiled in a way I’ve never experienced. She made me feel comfortable even though shy, and without hesitation I struck a conversation with her while getting my food… she talked to me so soft and was so nice to me without breaking her smile. I was never into blondes but this girl was beyond blonde and I loved it, just the few minutes I spent with her I felt the vibe that she liked me and that’s something I’ve never felt… here soon I’m going back to that place and doing something I’ve never done. And that’s asking her out
@@boogeymansports I've had many experiences like this. Almost like a ghost you can only chase in your mind after the natural high of what could be. My only advice, that even I myself must remember. I worked at Target and used to take a few laps around the store on one of the bicycles at closing time. It was a pretty wild experience cruising through this enormous building full of stuff but dead silent because all the people were gone.

I had a dream, it was late night and I was alone. I was in a city after a late night in the casino and forgot where I parked my car. I looked over my shoulder and saw this beautiful chrome car, and for some odd reason it reminded me of everything I didn’t have. I looked forward it started raining, and this song began to play in my dream. I don’t know what that means, but it was enough to wake my ass up.
I'm so glad it still is available. I love how this edit works with this song, it tells 100x better story than the whole movie, I absolutely adore it. Also I have so many memories i sentiments around it... I thought I lost it... Thank you
Reminds me of that feeling you get when you first meet someone and you realize that the person is going to be an important part of your life. Like that initial breath before the fall into love. Man… I miss that.
This song brings back to me the innocence of loving change, trauma and fear. Returns to the feelings of youth and high, which I can no longer chase after many years. Listening to this song brings the pain of losing those you love, and this song both covers the wounds and soothes them. There are things in life that we never pay attention to, no matter how hard we try to hold on to them. Everything slips through your fingers, fine sand, driven wind.
The girl you see in your dream, spend your time with her which is like the best time of your life and then you wake up realising everything was just a dream, you don't remember the girl nor her face but you know you had the best time of your life with her.
this song makes me feel like I'm lost but also knowing where i am, feeling whole but empty and a sense of being there but never leaving.. it makes me want to cry
I remember my first GF I was 17 I could spend the whole afternoon evening till 12am with her looking at each other talking and not get bored . I miss that feeling.
I found this song in the winter of 2020/21. I was hooked, the video and the song combined made me feel nostalgic, longing & energized all at once. I return to this song from time to time especially in the winter. So disappointed to see the original edit gone along with so many of the comments I deeply related to. There is just something special about this song with this edit.
I don't know what happened to original video. But I always come back to watch this. Makes me want to turn back time and live my high school once again.
One of the best freedom songs that implies no sense of being discriminated against hurt hated targeted or coming up missing without organs. Pure enjoyment of being free😊
I love the end of the video the best. the lights turn off, the dream ends. and reality will begin again. Regardless of how the actual movie goes(never seen it), i find importance in that bit of it all.

In the 90s I was in my twenties and had this experience and can completely remember this feeling, it was the moment between the wishes and the fulfillment - that is the best moment! Time doesn't matter, duties are ignored, you find yourself between time and space... unique and fantastic!
Spoken nicely 👍🏻.
I just love vibing to this video
Makes me cry but I don't know why. It feels like nostalgia, like I've been here before, but it's more of a memory I want to have.
In contention for the greatest song ever created is fkn crazy. ✅✅ 🔥
Одна из красивейших женщин современности!
If anyone is wondering the move is Career Opportunities. No lie this song made me actually rent the movie but I was disappointed with it. I still love the song like crazy and I love Jennifer Connolly. Check out Requiem for a Dream if you want to see her perform well

@@brlnmchl I don’t know looks and sounds the same but the original wasn’t 4k it was 1920x1080p might be upscaled
Agh shit! Nooooo
"That it is written in the stars" hits hard. I almost cried
do you think it's possible to find that same magic in your current life?
Damn...
Oh the Power of the Babe, Babe of the Power. . .
@esperthebad you probably never read that but if you do. There is a book which kind of describes your story. It's called "South of the border, west of the sun". It's really worth it!
I pretend the film is just this, two people locked in a Target at night.
It’s Sexy And Romantic!
It is 2024 and everytime I listen to this song it makes me feel calm in a way I can not describe
I’ve been here day 1
This song plus the video makes me want to cry a little. It’s not sadness, just reflection and nostalgia. What a great idea to blend an old forgotten movie with this incredible song. The innocence of these two finding each other and having fun, a little intimacy--then it over.
is it forgotten? don't people s___k off john hughes movies? I guess this was one of his lesser ones?
I’m not that old but I feel it too, the best description is melancholy. My guess is maybe about missing how the world was before 9/11? We got our innocence stripped away
@@ataridc it was. i had never heard of it till yesterday when i stumbled on this video. i have absolutely no idea how I came to this video but I am extremely happy I did. And i watched the movie last night, it wasn't bad, but also not as good as something like Breakfast Club or even Home Alone.
Happy to see the original edit.

And that’s asking her out
I’m gonna quote Captain America for you with just one word: “S M A S H.”
Have you asked her out?

Effing lawyers. This is a masterpiece. Thanks for putting it back up.
I worked at Target and used to take a few laps around the store on one of the bicycles at closing time. It was a pretty wild experience cruising through this enormous building full of stuff but dead silent because all the people were gone.
Sounds way more exciting than the one I work at.
I was waiting for someone to describe their experience at Target :))

This song got me through some long times. Last night my bus was running 30 minutes late. I was sitting at a bench at the bus stop. The rain was beating against the roof of i and i was listening to this song for 45 minutes until the b us came. I sat there talking to myself for what felt like hours and it was genuinely one of those moments in life you cherish forever. Thank you Mr. Kitty ❤
Legit Masterpiece
I had a dream, it was late night and I was alone. I was in a city after a late night in the casino and forgot where I parked my car. I looked over my shoulder and saw this beautiful chrome car, and for some odd reason it reminded me of everything I didn’t have. I looked forward it started raining, and this song began to play in my dream. I don’t know what that means, but it was enough to wake my ass up.
I had a horrible childhood and even I know that the 90's were a magical time to be alive.
Those days are never coming back.

2:14 That look she gave was definitive proof. I love when girls get that look on their face, like.. oh yeah, it's gonna happen
Everything slips through your fingers, fine sand, driven wind.
hit the spot 🤙
The girl you see in your dream, spend your time with her which is like the best time of your life and then you wake up realising everything was just a dream, you don't remember the girl nor her face but you know you had the best time of your life with her.

I see you
You see me
How pleasant
This feeling
The moment
You hold me
I missed you
I'm sorry
I've given
What I have
I showed you
I'm growing
The ashes
Fall slowly
As your voice
Consoles me
As the hours pass
I will let you know
That I need to ask
Before I'm alone
How it feels to rest
On your patient lips
To eternal bliss
I'm so glad to know
As the hours pass
I will let you know
That I need to ask
Before I'm alone
How it feels to rest
On your patient lips
To eternal bliss
I'm so glad to know
We're swaying
To drum beats
In motion
I'm feeling
My patience
Controlling
The question
I won't speak
We're telling
The stories
Our laughter
He knows me
We're leaving
We're talking
You're closer
It's calming
As the hours pass
I will let you know
That I need to ask
Before I'm alone
How it feels to rest
