It got copyrighted. I was listening to it literally at like, 5am this morning, stopped for sometime, video was looped so I thought I paused it since I was talking to my friends, and then I checked and saw the copyright. I thought I went to another video, but refreshed the page just to see it gone. I don't like the other Mr. Kitty video, but dang is it sad to know 80 million views are gone. First discovered that video when it had 45 million views I think.
It's so hard to explain why this song and these visuals work so well together. It taps in to this abstract feeling that is almost impossible to describe, it's like nostalgia but slightly different. It's a feeling I would get when I was a little kid, and my mom would take me to the store late at night just before closing. It would be past my bedtime, so I would feel tired but strangely a little energized at the same time. And there was something just a little bit eerie about being in an almost empty store, and hearing the intercom echo through the building. When the music plays in this video it's like I can hear it echoing off the walls and through all the aisles.
I completely get what you're saying, myself my mom and sister went to our local mall in the winter (so it wasn't exactly late it was like, maybe 6-7PM but it was basically night) and there's some odd pleasant feeling about being in a mall or target or big store like that at night time, might have to do with the lighting? Cause I know the lighting of a room can affect your senses to a point.
because the reverb of the song is like the void that all of your time, love, hope, fears, hatred, and life in general go into forever. Nothing ever returns from the void. As for the film itself, it shows two young people having fun despite shitty circumstances which is something we all relate too a little bit. You never forget those friends you had at your first job, you bonded over how much it sucked. But this crosses the line between reality and film when they do absurd stuff like eat microwave dinners at work and roller skate through the empty store. That's something we wish we did but obviously never would but the sentiment behind it we can relate to atleast. Overall it makes a pretty cool video.
I believe that the word many people are looking for when they describe this song is "Anemoia", which describes a feeling of nostalgia one feels for a time, place that one has never known
All those people being those that were not alive during the time period in which the video is set. For those that were, it's just nostalgia of cluttered retail stores and the analog nature of everything that was beginning to bleed into the digital. While I will be right there saying it wasn't the best time to be alive (that time, even with all the darkness, is now), if you experienced this era, there is a longing fondness for what was and what will never be again.
Saddens me that this video with millions of views and likes was removed. This song does something for me every time I hear it and mixed with this movie edit fills my nostalgia to the brim. Thank you for the upload of this, I hope it stays around. ♥
When I was a kid, my favorite movie was Labyrinth. Jennifer Connelly was my celebrity crush, and no matter how many times I watched that movie, it held me spellbound. In high school, I met a girl named Mary who kind of looked like Jennifer Connelly and who also loved Labyrinth, and we became good friends. Unsurprisingly, I had a huge crush on her. We would write each other notes and exchange them between classes, and we'd talk on the phone for hours. Every once in a while we'd hang out, and we even kissed a couple times. I asked her to be my girlfriend a few times, and she would give a sort of "maybe, I don't know" kind of answer. Actually, there were a couple instances in which she did want to be with me, but I was involved with someone else each time. She used to say, "One day, we'll be together. It's written in the stars." She wove these fantasy dreams, saying that it was our destiny to end up together. High school ended. We lost touch. Now I'm entering middle age, married, have children, living my life. But every once in awhile, something reminds me of those days, and all that I felt back then. Two dreamers, floating together in Labyrinth masquerade balls and high school dances ... now just old memories of a life that slipped away.
@esperthebad you probably never read that but if you do. There is a book which kind of describes your story. It's called "South of the border, west of the sun". It's really worth it!

There’s a girl that I like and being almost 21 years old I’ve never asked a girl out. Many people tell me that I’m handsome but I don’t believe it, the first time I met this girl I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and talking to… the moment I entered the building she looked towards me and smiled in a way I’ve never experienced. She made me feel comfortable even though shy, and without hesitation I struck a conversation with her while getting my food… she talked to me so soft and was so nice to me without breaking her smile. I was never into blondes but this girl was beyond blonde and I loved it, just the few minutes I spent with her I felt the vibe that she liked me and that’s something I’ve never felt… here soon I’m going back to that place and doing something I’ve never done. And that’s asking her out

Top comment on the original SD video was pinned by the uploader and it had 36k likes. I was fortunate to screenshot it because it totally described whatever I had in my mind. It read like this;
"I don't know why, but the combination of this song and the video sequence is simply mesmerising. Of course, it's Jennifer Connelly's captivating beauty, but there's something else, something magical happening here. Perhaps it's like traveling back in time, to that world which was more soft and subtle, with smooth undertones all around us. It feels like a dream, and it makes me want to fall in love, which I haven't experienced in quite a while." - Alexey Molotkov.
Comments like the above one by Alexey Molotkov make this video more beautiful and these type of comments totally deserve to be cherished forever.

I had a horrible childhood and even I know that the 90's were a magical time to be alive.
Those days are never coming back.
