I remember that, I first saw you on Ellen. I'm from Uruguay and I watch Ellen in parts (we don't get the full program here).
I remember being blown away by how talented you were. I've been following you since then. You are a truly amazing artist
Hola Lucia, I was just scrolling through the comments and came across your post. It brought back some nostalgia for the time when I was working in Montevideo as the South African ambassador to Uruguay (2012 -2016). I lived in Carassco with my kids. Our time there was great - the Uruguayan people are so kind and welcoming to foreigners 👏👏👏
From Uruguay too ❤️
@@lottatroublemaker6130 no, she ment Carrasco, in Uruguay, it's a neighborhood in Montevideo.
@@lottatroublemaker6130 Did you miss the part where she said she was the South African ambassador to Uruguay? I’m pretty sure she would remember where she lived. 😊Just sayin’...☺️😉
From Uruguay too, do they really show Ellen there? I only remember Oprah at night.
gurllll who else came here expecting tea on ellen 🤣
Very disappointed TBH
Ditto. What a letdown.
The ☕ was cold. Not even room temperature 🌡️
Totally me
Bruh that’s what I was thinkingg 😂😂😂
"Don't be nervous" is a useless expression. I with people would change it to "enjoy the excitement."
Perfect! If a person could stop being nervous they would. Your encouragement is MUCH better!
That is such a sensible, compassionate suggestion. 🤗
Enjoy the excitement..love it! 💖
Very True! Nervous = energy • Use it!!
I love this. People get nervous because it’s human nature. Instead of others insisting you tamp down that emotion, use it to enjoy that moment! Such a great comment ❤️
I really like his humbleness and genuine kindness. Fame hasn’t gone to his head..
because he's not famous... lmfao
@@dman19473 fr🤣 who tf is he
Like he is famous oh my god those clothes he wore 😩
i didnt even know who he was before clicking on this video
@@hilmir yeah haha same and he ain’t a very good singer
Did anyone else think this was another Ellen bashing video?
🙋
It’s refreshing that it wasn’t.
Disappointed is me 🥺
Yes! Lol
We all came here for tea and drama don’t lie.
I've been really down and this video just randomly popped up in my recommended. Hearing you talk about being kind to yourself, and ignoring that inner critic was something I really needed to hear. So thank you.
I'm very glad you found this and were/are able to take positive action for yourself. You are worthy of your kindness. Sending positive energy.
We really take these things for granted when we're watching thru the tv. This was really entertaining, thanks for sharing!
I am proud to say that I was your 69th like.
Wow. I definitely appreciate your honesty..I also know that my inner critic keeps me stuck so often. Thankfully sometimes all it takes is acknowledgement. Have a great day!
If I may, your "inner critic" makes you a better artist! I paint, and I also used to play drums in a fairly popular local band, don't think I can match 30 million though. I used to love playing in front of people, but I had drums and cymbals to hide behind.
Thats how hollywood works and that how things in america.duh!!!
@@drexxsuma1749 It’s changing though
I watched this thinking that he was gonna talk about how rude Ellen was to him 🤣
Same!
Your thinking was right...she is a rude person.
Me too hahaha
@@cheryls4791 she was probably in need of her adrenalchrome
Even though Ellen is facing so much backlash, you can't deny the fact that she and her connections have opened doors of opportunity for numerous people.
Yesss
True, true. . .
@nmh ol I have seen some of those attacks. I will say the time she humiliated the lady by putting her on stage, during the show, in "Ellen Jail", was rather tasteless. Granted she will probably never do that again lol. But it was a little too much vengeance. But hey, nobody really got hurt, right? So what if the prank got the woman fired? Or kicked off the schools PTA? Or from snack Mom at soccer? Or any athletic or academic activities that she might have been the parent volunteer, now dismissed because of a prank.
Does make one wonder..... How Manny tiny lies or accidental thefts that happen all the time to us every day, could ruin our lives if seen and counted as a crime instead of a mistake? Like something as common as dropping an ink pen in your purse or pocket. Not a deliberate theft, but it happened any way.
Sorry, way too long a thread to make an inane point. So now I take my leave.🤓
That the thing I still don't feel Ellen is wrong considering she is a comedian. Somebody enemies doesn't need to be your enemies
Those directors and stuff made them girls movie stars two,, J/S. 🙏✌️🇺🇸
Just remember - you can do EVERY SINGLE THING right, but there’s always going to be someone who is jealous or insecure or negative who wants to bring you down. It usually has to do w/insecurity - they see this light in you - this talent, this goodness, that they think they will never have. So they want to try to take you down w/them. Don’t let them. You are awesome - that’s all you need to know. Congrats ❤️
"Be kind to yourself" got the thumbs up from me.
I second that comment sir!😀😀
Be your number 1 fan!
Mike! I remember listening to your early vocal loop videos and thinking to myself... this is nuts. Next level sound design.. and so ... so ... so good. Your Ellen appearance was well deserved. I’m also a modest musician exploring musical spaces and getting some great feedback. Continue to feed off that energy. It’s the positivity that keeps us, and this world going. Can’t wait to hear what’s the around the corner for you. Cheers!!!
“Be kind to yourself”, this is what one of my therapists told me. She went further telling me to treat myself as a dear friend or a family. It’s a waking call, but still it’s not easy.
wake up call... but very good words to take to heart.
Also sometimes when I'm feeling really hard on myself, I try to think of myself as a small child. "Would you say these things to a small child?"
We're really all as delicate as children on the inside.
A dear friend always said that to me, 15 years ago. She used to say, Be kind to yourself, listen to your body! I am 70 now, and still heeding these enlightening words!
@@hollyl5702 exactly...and that's why we should ALWAYS treat, talk to our Children in a respectful way always .

Can we talk about how they just called him and he still doesn't know how they got his number? 👀
Ikrr
It's not hard to find things out, I knew of people who casted their lives on cam, and I told everyone of them, don't post outside your home, because people like me can find where you are.
I sent 2 of them their addresses and that changed everything. Phone numbers, that's even easier.
@@tigergreg8 I was going to comment this as well. I can literally look up a license plate and find out your address phone number place of employment etc it’s crazy.
why do we have to talk about it? sounds weired to me to ask that
i live in belgium and someone i used to work with, on one of her exams (for journalism) the question was to find the personal phone number of one of the employees at the ikea in brussels (no name give of any of the employees, just: there's an ikea in brussels, find a phone number). she found 2 and got a 19/20. true story.
Wow , what a humble guy you are. You share this with such a realistic perspective and articulated it all so well, I was actually immersing myself into the situation. I believe this will help a lot of people, including myself. I'm a musician singer-songwriter that has experienced terrible bouts of stage fright. Subscribing to find out more about you and your work. Looks like you've been blessed with a great partner who truly supports you.
Aww, Mike, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger baby. Keep your head high. I’m glad you’ve moved past this. And you deserve so much happiness for the great work you do. Keep it up!
I follow you since I randomly found "Teenage Dream" and "Dynamite" years ago. Since then I clicked and shared you a 1000 times....
Thank you for the music, the songs we're loving!
When you put yourself out there, there will always be haters. In my opinion, you're a legend for being so open and honest. Inspiring message dude, thank you
This blows me away! Mike, you are iconic! I saw this episode of Ellen on TV. I was so inspired by your videos I tried a few acapella videos on my channel, as well. Proudly Canadian! PS - OMG you worked with Timba!!!
Hi Mikey 👋
I kinda hoped you would be invited to Ellen. You made a lot of funny spoof songs that reminded me of weird Al yankovic. Anyways wish you all the best x
Hi Mikey pogi mo
As an insecure performer, and an admirer of your creations (and your stage presence) this video means A LOT to me. Thank you.
Amazing message!!!! Encouraging others! Amen! That’s generosity, humbleness, and that’s SO beautiful! Truly inspiring! JESUS bless you and your family!🙏🏼
My husband is a singer. Same... i always give him ah boost before his show. The more i encourage him the more he finds his confidence. Love that man, with the amazing voice.
You sound like a wonderful wife and I'm glad he has someone who supports him and what he loves to do 🙂
Managing the inner critic is so very important. Thank you for this good word.
omg this guy has such a beautiful heart!💛💛💛💛💛 I can totally relate do not be unable to enjoy present moment! Thank you so much for reminding us not to be hard on ourselves sending you a big hug🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thank you for your honesty and, especially, your perspective coming out of your Ellen experience. Great idea for your music mentorship program!
I clicked on this video because you remind me of my teen years, those were happy times and I used to listen to your videos all the time ☺
Thanks for sharing this, and keep doing what makes you happy, you look like a lovely person 😘
You are so down to earth and grounded! I love your message with this story. It’s so important for us to find a way to encourage ourselves and stifle that voice which tells us we aren’t capable! This can be relevant across the board and thank you for sharing your story with us!
You are so amazing and talented Mike! You’ve been such a blessing, and encouraging and brightening my day for almost 6 years now! Thank you so much for being you and doing what you do! 💙💜
You’re such a wonderful storyteller, Mike!! ❤️
Awwwww that’s was such a sweet video and something more artists need to hear-about being kind to themselves and not letting those inner critics take over. Thank you for what you do and who you be and I hope more people work with you in the future!
This was such a fun inside look at your experience. Thank you for sharing! I first saw your videos on RUclips when you didn’t have very many up and I remember binge watching all of them and wanting to see more. I would randomly look you up to see if you were making more videos. Your videos have been a light in my day many times! Your talent and commitment to create is inspiring!
I loved watching you grow in the past decade. Can't wait to see where your journey takes you this decade. Love you and hope you and your family are doing well ♥️
I'm an old lady, so I'm not up on the new stuff, and I didn't know who you were at all. I absolutely love this video. It is so true that one negative comment can make a hundred positive comments disappear. That's incredibly sad. But I love your honesty, your transparency, and I think I'm going to look into more of your stuff and check you out. God bless you sir, and just know that Jesus loves you to pieces!
Well said, Ms Kitty Trigger! 👍🏻❤
Keeping it real about what these sorts of experiences feel like. Go authenticity Mike. From Atlantic Canada during covid...keep up the good work...
You're awesome! Thank you for sharing your story and reminding us all to be kind to ourselves and those around us.
We love you guys and how much you have encouraged one another through your journey. Gives me those happy tears of joy ~♡~
Thnk you so much for sharing ~ as a socially anxious person who wishes she could find the time to focus on music creation with her family ~ I am so thankful for all the gifts you've shared with us all over the years.
Hi Mr Sunshine . . . With a smile like yours, you would make anyone's winter's day sunny and warm
Hey Mike! I can safely say that you inspired me to start beatboxing (especially your cover of misery and fireflies) and that really got me through highschool man. I was suddenly cool lol? I'm a doctor now but I still credit a lot of my teen years being as good as they were because of you.
This is so nice!! I honestly have not heard of you before, I apologize, and was intrigued by the title of your video. I really love how open and vulnerable you are, and your encouragement brought tears to my eyes!! Thank you!! I’m going to look at more of your content now!!
I've just watched that performance for the first time ever and I don't see any flaws.. i think u did a very great job

What an amazing experience you had Mike. And thanks for the reminder to just enjoy the process even if your inner critic screams at you. So good!
You're one of the few youtubers who I subscribed to as soon as I heard the Party In The USA video over 9 years ago and watch all your videos till date! You are super talented and such a joy to listen to 🥰
As a new creator, you inspired me today!! Thank you Mike!! The WORLD is YOURS!! Keep creating and making the world a better place!!💕👑🐝
When people are being negative it’s more about their internal fears than you
Thats what I tell my daughter all the time

I think is just an ...opinion. Maybe it's different that the person want or expect . But it's not possible either to be liked by everyone. So, is normal to have also " negative" feedbacks.
I seen and met you when you were on tour with the Jonas Brothers! I thought you were amazing at performing! I even bought your poster to remember your great performance!
I followed you on social media in the early days, it’s amazing to see how far you’ve come..congrats
What a crazy experience! Loved hearing your story and so appreciate the encouraging words. Putting out content for the world to enjoy or criticize places creators in a very vulnerable position but it can also be very rewarding.
Mentally processing an experience like this would be mind blowing🤯 Thanks for sharing✌🏼
I remember writing to Ellen Show on your behalf while I was recovering from surgery. The world needed to see you!
I just watched this video? What are you taliking about? You did awesome on Ellen! I watched it twice, you did great! Give yourself more credit. Keep up the great work!

You did so good on ellen!! Just goes to show you never know what people are feeling on the inside and we should be kind to everyone!!
Wow, it has been what? 10 years? I don’t remember when I heard about you for the first time, but I remember that I bought your dynamite single on iTunes and played it on repeat all the time. You are super talented!!!!
Thank you for sharing your experience/journey. Your vulnerability is felt and I'm so grateful for this. My inner critic is toxic and paralyzing, most of the time. Having ppl you trust and love you, for you (like your amazing wife) is super vital during experiences like the one you shared in this video. Keep these positive vibes coming!

Thank you so much. I’ve never heard of you but genuinely enjoyed this video. I’m an artist and in a tough spot right now. Definitely a harsh critic of myself. And this really spoke to me. So thanks. Have a great day.
I have never seen the show before, but I did after watching this video and its was amazing you really was so great !
Great video man! Often times we take for granted the good in our life and put too much pressure on ourselves in the moment to be perfect or to have to succeed, rather than just enjoying the moment itself. Really great life lesson, something we all go through!
Mike, you're an inspiration, you're a man of many talents, i hope your work gets the recognition it deserves
What a beautiful, honest video. I think most of us can relate to you. Thank you.
Dude. You did incredible for being suddenly thrust into the spotlight... And you are still doing incredible. I listen to fireflies almost everyday. And This Girl is on Fire with Christina... I miss her

Thanks for sharing! Great story, experience and message. I'm a music teacher. Definitely going to share this video with my kids who are so fearful about recording for a virtual video.
Omg. I love your honesty in this video. I had something similar happen to my crochet business years ago when I was invited to the Golden Globes. The press coverage was overwhelming. The hollywood experience was overwhelming and there was so much pressure from producers and press calling for interviews...I’ve never admit this to many people until now but, although I had to big-it-up to my audience that it was an honour, i knew it was good for my business and my future goals, but I was nervous as eff! Like sick to my stomach and overwhemed! And, I still have negative emotions associated to the experience. The way you told your story so honestly, inspires me to show that you can have success moments and be honest about how uncomfortable the whole thing really felt. God love you Mike!😊🙏🏼🙌🏽
*OMG...You spoke volumes!* My inner critic beats me up daily...I'm a 58 yr old woman.
In my life that is my biggest failure. Not enjoying the moment and analyzing every little thing that I do or say!
Spare yourself a lifetime of pain and just don't do that to yourself!
Haters gonna hate, just ignore them. They only hurt themselves!!
For someone who's also hard on herself, thank you. Online learning has been tough lately (from philippines) and ive just been thinking of "musts and shoulds". Thank you for this reminder, it means a lot 🥺💙
What an Amazing message, I have had several opportunities, in music, scouted for Miss America when I was 17, asked to sing the national anthem at lakers stadium and other opportunities, I was always way to hard on myself and turned everyone of them down. I always wonder what might have happened if I took that chance. I just praise God in gratitude always and for everything! Being very self critical gets you no where! This message is exactly what I needed to hear at this time in my life. I made it my New Years resolution to find joy in the experiences in every moment, time is the most precious gift.
i just watched you on Ellen, you were so good.... why we artist keep doing this to ourselves... I totally know what you talking about... so sad that we sometimes do not enjoy that incredible moments
Truly, and honestly, hurt people hurt people...blessings, I am proud of you!💖🇨🇦🙏
Awwww thanks for posting this video! Very inspiring. We are all very hard on ourselves, we are our toughest and meanest judge. We can be cruel to ourselves, but definitely enjoying the process and believing in ourselves is an everyday exercise, and the key to keep creating and sharing our art and passions. Bravo!
My family and I have been huge fans of yours for so long, keep doing what you do!!
He didn’t speak to Ellen before the show? That’s such a weird concept to me.
It's Ellen
She never speaks to anyone before OR after the show. After the show actually ends, she usually just says bye then leaves the set. When the cameras are off, she doesn’t talk to the people she hosts unless it’s a commercial break & the audience is still there except for people she really likes like Taylor Swift. Most of the staff aren’t even allowed to look at her or say hi, higher ups that she has to speak with are usually the only ones.
And yes, those are all her rules.
Idk any other host who does this lol
Do any talk show hosts talk to their guests before a taping? The interviews would be less entertaining, less spontaneous. The hosts generally get a list of facts to bring up, but that's about it. So, no, it's not Ellen.
Ikr. He should have the right to talk to her anytime he wants. Ellen is not even a person. Who gave her the right not to talk anyone? Mike should have went straight to her without anyone's permission. That would be a lot more acceptable. 💁
@@iBeFloe why is she allowed to have those rules? She's not even a person to begin with, everyone should have the right to come and talk to her anytime they want. Just wtf? What gave her the right to act like a normal human being????
It's really sad that some people are so miserable with themselves and their own lives that they have nothing better to do but bully others! Keep doing you, you're doing awesome!
