- The Discovery has been a standout in Lan Rover's lineup for years. Under the hood is a 3.0L supercharged-6 producing 340HP & mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior has those traditional Land Rover Discover lines, features 19in wheels and had air-ride suspension. On the inside you will find plenty of room for you and your passengers, high end materials and a 10in infotainment screen. Is the 2020 Land Rover Discovery a GOOD luxury SUV?

I miss the old Discovery body style. It had character.
Great car.The only problem with mine (New) is that when i got it home from the dealership a day before lockdown i noticed the rear indicators /brake lights don't work and because all LR dealerships are closed until further notice they told me they would not be able to repair it anytime soon and said i should not be driving it anyway because of the lockdown rules !!! . Hopefully they will reopen the repair shop by the winter or 2021 at the latest

Aloooooot of people who haven’t driven let alone owned a Land Rover. Never had any issues except with the infotainment system. Joe, the raised badging is historic for LR. These Discos look much better with bigger wheels. They drive very similar to Range Rovers.

Joe is a class act but I would run like hell from land rover since they're junk over time. Also hope you and Lori are doing well these days.

I just rented one for the weekend, except my model doesn’t have a third row. Instead it’s huge cargo space with a false floor with storage.
There are no buttons in the back to lower the car, but the tail gate does come down automatically .
I had no idea the center console had a knob that pops up and down.
The car is stunning at night and even cast a silhouette of a DISCO from the side mirrors.
It’s so fun to drive. The infotainment system has this almost matt finish to it that makes it pleasant to use in the day and night.
Oh and I like the letters on the front and rear! I think it makes it more luxurious and rugged.

The HSE version is quite an improvement on this base trim; for everyday road use this can barely compete with regular 3 row vehicles let alone luxury ones while the top trim HSE Luxury is a completely different story IMO

Legend has it a suburban soccer mommy once needed the Disco's legendary off road capability when she accidentally ran over a curb while picking up young Connor at his private prep schools parking lot. Thankfully tragedy was averted in the parent pickup lane that fateful day thanks to Land Rover.
Drove it today and I loved it! The seat was heaven!
I’d also zonk that rear end styling, as I don’t like the asymmetrical look with the license plate being off center.

BTW you can get a full digital screen as a 500+ option (closer to $600) which is cool and is a stand alone option so you don't have to get any expensive packages to get it.

I was so scared that they would do something stupid like not make those 3rd row seats foldable. They should have never put them in to begin with, but it's fine.
Damn, this thing is actually really nice. It's a toss up between this and the Ram 1500 Ecodiesel Limited or Laramie for me. We'll see what I buy next year when I come back to the States.
I read on motor trend with the CEO of Land Rover of America that the styling was the way it is because it would clash with the upcoming returning Defender... Thats messed up in my opinion but solid SUV nonetheless...

I love the pockets on the back of the seats. They look appropriate against the fit and finish of the interior. I've always hated the cheap, flimsy leather or cloth pockets.

So I always though Land Rovers was just a status symbol and a horrible buy because of reliability... well I recently had the chance to rent one for a week...a 2020 Discovery SE w 3L supercharged V6 and wow...I totally changed my mind! I totally get the hype! The off roading capabilities is AMAZING... we hungout in the middle of a river- exhaust under water and All, the water was up to the top of fenders the water wade sensors came in super handy and we did some super offroading that even jeeps get stuck in. So even though it's amazing off road, it's equally as amazing on road... it's the smoothest best driving vehicle I've ever driven, and the supercharged engine and the transmission are awesome too. We now want to buy one... probably lease though cause I'm sure the reliability might make me hate it if I owned it, leasing it wouldn't be my problem! Lol If that lease went good then I may buy one...ah still probably just sick with lease.
They needs to be test driving these vehicles in blizzard not on a darn highway or street go thru mud and snow let's see what we working with.
Great review. I was very disappointed with cargo space in the back and not much space in the 3rd row, where's the usb's? I'II definitely wait for the redesign.

As I keep watching I kero finding more things to say lol... if you get the 4 zone AC option you get air vents everywhere in the ceiling, middle, floor even on the side for middle and 3rd row.

Allow me, as a former Land Rover owner to answer the question posed in the title: If it is, it will be the first time in the history of the company that it is. They were always junk, mechanical nightmares, unrealiable as a broken condom. I'm surprised they are even still in business. I've owned DISCOS and Range Rovers and they both sucked.

I drive an Alfa and people say those things are not reliable. I’ve had mine a few years and it’s been great. The disco 1 and 2 Are still pretty well sought after by off-road enthusiast. And you’ll pay for a decent one. Buy these cars because of the character. Sure Toyota is more reliable but they lack character. The 4Runner Has some character but let’s face it everyone’s buying Highlanders, RAV4, Venzas characterless cars. Nobody can afford a new Land Cruiser. And the FJ was a rust bucket

it does not share any platforms with a tata. The old discovery sport (the smaller one) does. It is related to the Range Rover Platform.

Can someone please explain why there are Jeep wranglers going for 7K more than this. Similar off-roading capability and a nicer interior. I would knock this one for reliability, but both companies are bad with it. Jeep definitely looks better on the exterior though. Deefinitely not as quick as any Range but not bad

For the price it just seems really cheap. I drove a 2019 Velar for a day back in November and that thing was almost $60k and did not even have a power lift gate, heated seats, BLIS, etc. There were also cars cheaper that I've driven that had a better quality interior. They just nickel and dime for everything. Not a fan of Range Rover/Jaguar. Mercedes, BMW, and even Volvo are just such superior brands. The only car of their's I'd like to drive is the Range Rover Sport with the Supercharged V8.

The Discovery has sex appeal. That doesn't mean she'd make a good wife, but dang, I need one! Now! I fell in love with the Discovery when I took my brother to the hospital and one was parked in the parking lot. I found myself wanting to run my hands over it. A reliable car? Dunno. But like the daughter of a rich man, yes. If I were rich, I'd plunge, and if it turned out to not last, I'd move on, but always look back. It is a beautiful machine.
Good until warranty ends.

Great video Rati, thank you!! I'm going to be honest, this is the worst looking vehicle they make!! The only good looking part is the steering wheel. Don't get me started on the back it looks like someone who is talking out of the side of their Mouth!! Thanks to Rati's Rides I was able to self diagnose my OCD!!

I like the styling of the Land Rover products but they need to fix the reliability for that kind of money.
