I rented one of these recently for a few days and although I loved it, the backup camera was trash compared to any other new car I've been in. It literally felt like it came out of 2008. It was completely useless at night.

In my opinion the 2020 discovery is the best vehicle they sell for the money
The defender has a lot of problems while the discovery is nicer and more reliable

I'm looking into buying a CPO for myself, I was just doing some research to see what else people say about them that perhaps I don't see at the dealership, but it seems that not much changes. Most people would be scared of the price for maintenance, but of course that doesn't affect me in the slightest since I'm a LR tech.
As a side note, only the V6 Supercharged is worth your money and the V6 diesel is only a option if you do long drives.
@@minimumeffortenthusiast8242 I’m not sure what has changed about the defender, but when I wrote this comment the defender had quite a bit of problems. Even though both are pretty great cars, the Discovery although less interesting is just the more practical option. At the point when I wrote this comment I was looking for a good family car and I had my eye on the discovery for a while. And I opted for a 22’ Escalade finally instead
@@corvettesareneat1274 the Defender's problem is the inline engines, these new Ingenium engines (I4 and I6) although they've been working great for the most part here, they're bound to not last the test of time, they've overly complex and are basically a spaghetti of hoses and wires. Our holy grail of engine choices lay in the V6/V8 Supercharged duo of which only the V8 is in production for the Defender only and has already been replaced in the Range Rovers with the BMW 4.4L bi-turbo engine(which we'll see how it performs over the years, but so far the new Range Rovers haven't really turned up for deal breaking problems or finicky things as much as I'd expect a new vehicle to show up for). Mind you we are the only official dealership in Puerto Rico, so all these Land Rovers end up here one way or the other, otherwise they just sit unfixed in somebody's house.
I think the Escalade is a good choice for sure.

I’m considering this vehicle but I can’t justify it over an X-5 or GLE 350.
Don't understand why anyone would get a non-Diesel version of any vehicles that has Diesel options....makes no sense with respect to mpg and durability....and torque power
LR D5 Diesel V6 engine has roots from PSA. And this is bad story!! The new ingenium R6 on facelifted D5 looks more BMW, and its unknown result yet!
Why LR still fond of V6 on Discoveries? Time to make V8 a standard for this big daddy!

The substituted the V8 for a Supercharged V6 which is more fuel efficient and doesn’t lose any of the power.
This one in November2020 is already an old version. The Facelift version is much better!

Mike W They are arm rests - you rest your arm on them! The knob at the end adjusts the height. They have been standard in Range Rover & some LR for many years.

Driven both - Disco for on road. Defender is quite noisy - suspect it does not have as much soundproofing - and does not feel as comfortable or "premium". The Defender tailgate is also a pain; lifting tailgate is much more convenient. Also, Disco is a mature product; my Defender has repeatedly been back to the dealer for faults.

Yes, and the new defender is now obsolete wth the new Bronco - LR had one job and they copied and pasted every other model they have and mseesed it up.
You don't now what you are talking about,the Defender didn't copy the Bronco because it was released earlier,plus the Defender is more of a global brand than the Bronco.
