Honda Pioneer 700 Oil Change - How To Guide

In this video I am completing the first 20 hour oil change on my new Pioneer 700. This procedure applies to all Pioneer 700's. See below (Paid Links) for needed oil filter and Honda recommended oil. I also recommend the K&N oil filter. You will need 4 quarts to do the job.

Good Idea to warm up engine prior to oil change and remove fill cap and filter to get more old oil out. You will find it will take 4 quarts instead of the 3.75 in your video.

Thanks for the vid(s). Some observations/tips: a long transmission funnel like for auto use allows you to add oil faster. It seems strange, but it's some weird thing with pressure/vacuum that causes it to flow into the machine faster.
Also, lifting the front (like on car ramps) will get more complete drain from the machine. Depending on how long you drain, it will take up to 4 quarts.

Got a little over 8k hours. Changed oil a few times, Honda pioneer is is tough as nails.

Anti-seize is designed for dissimilar metals. Grease would be perfectly sufficient and less messy in the long run as it is not water soluble. Otherwise great tutorial video! The advice is all good for anyone doing this themselves and not spending big money at a powers ports center or the dealer.

So is it just suggested to use their oil? Is there something that would be better for me? I live in a river gorge in North Dakota. Lots of climbing and powering through shale mud. Does that matter. I know very little but ibwanna keep my machine healthy.

That metal o-ring on the inside of the filter is absent on my 2023 700. Everything else is the same

Yes it is. Uses the same engine oil.

My 2021 700-4 deluxe also has a spring behind the filter. I didn’t see that in your video. Is that a model difference?

Of course Honda calls for the first service at the dealer to check valve lash etc.... I have the first service kit and just hit 20hrs. In your opinion, will the oil change suffice or should it go back to the dealer ?

The transmission is lubricated with engine oil. So when you change the oil, you are changing the transmission fluid as well.

Yes it does. It is very powerful down low.
