to me,, this piece could not be played with any more emotion than Yundi offered it to us... Gosh ... it is just so perfect, and the writing by Robert Schumann just blows me away every time I listen to this recording. I could listen to this over and over and over, I hope Yundi reads some of these compliments. I absolutely love his tender dynamics at the end... what a gift!
This piece is not that difficult or complex not to "get it right." And others play it better, actually. Rian de Waal, for instance, takes the tempo a little slower, which adds to both the drama and poetry of the piece. Natasha Vlassenko (video) plays with the right amount of weight and a tempo that is just perfect. To say no one else gets it right is pretty small-minded and shows your lack of musical knowledge.
Perfect touch and so smooth just the way Jorge Bolet touch of his play. No other comment other than romantically and beautiful touch of Yundi Li. This version is the best of Yundi. "Pererenan Bali"
Love love love Yundi's rendition of this piece. Yundi's touch on the piano is one of the most delicate and luminous I have ever heard. I can see the notes glistening when I listen to his play. This recording is beautiful in that it is so intact and coherent. Definitely one of my favorite pieces by Yundi and also music in general.
Absolutely stunning! He's the only one who doesn't pound out the forte section. I've been listening to this over and over again and I just can't get enough!
I liked this interpretation better than anything else I've heard Yundi Li play. The grand sweep, the overarching conception, the genuine sensitivity without getting lost in the weeds of self-indulgent detail.......great.
+Music Lover And yes, Ernesto, grila, Robin and Great Perahia, this is a radiantly, transcendently beautiful piece. How can a mortal imagine such a thing? To me, it's more proof of the God who alone could have made the mind and heart of Schumann.
I discovered this selection in the biopic of the Schumann’s lives called Song of Love and fell in love with it. This musician’s version is absolutely sublime!
What an extraordinary magical touch he has which sets him apart from all the others. It is amazing how each pianist plays so differently that it is almost as if they were different pieces. Ernesto7608 says it well.
This piece is incredibly beautiful, thanks to the genius of Schumann and the skillful ornamentation by Liszt. Have heard it by the best pianists, Rubinstein, Horowitz, etc. etc. Something is in Yundi Li that makes his interpretation superior to all the others.
A friend sang the original vocal piece at our wedding in 1983. I did not know the history then, just that I loved the Van Cliburn interpretation I knew from working at WUVT-FM while in school. if I am worthy of a funeral, I hope it will be played for whomever I am fortunate enough to have in attendence. I love hearing differing interpretations and this one is "lovely & delightful", an IPA to Van Cliburn's barley wine. Weird but I adore them both.

This interpretation and Jorge Bolet's interpretation are both excellent. None of the other performers get it right. These two do.

@@franksmith541i agree! And might i add Van Cliburn, especially his version right after the Tchaikovsky competition

It is a beautiful rendition. His touch is everything you say.
Incredible playing! The best version, it's so passionate, just a hymn of true love!

Which part is the forte section at which time mark?
I love this and listen to it again and again. Encore, encore.
@@greenmusic4787 He probably refers to the section starting on 2:14

Beautiful what you said! Hear Schumann's Fantasia by KIssin
I love the way he plays this - so sensitive and so passionate. And then when you read the words - indescribable!
2:25 the change of tone and dymanic! It's fantastic. the phraise that is never replayed by yundi li himself.
Than you Yungi for letting me fly over your hands 🙏🙏

Yundi, again thank you for giving my imagination such pleasure
If I ever get married, this is what I want to hear at the wedding
Just feels like a miracle is occurring inside my heart when I listen 🧐😍

Adagietto: the 4th movement from Mahler's Fifth symphony is another beautiful piece when Gustav Mahler proposed to his future wife Alma.
So beautiful
Great, great, great! Thanks a lot!
This is the best interpretation for me.
excellente interpretation......
Yundi Li did it!
!!!!!!!!!!!! INCREIBLEMENTE HERMOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Muchas gracias!
Very good. Also Bolet, van Cliburn, Earl Wild.
Très beau !
Would it be possible for someone to post this with his playing? To watch him playing it, that is?
💯💞🎶🍀
yeah, this is better than kissin, partly for being less conventional lisztian, or maybe chiefly for that

Although I like Lang Lang's version, I prefer the quicker tempo of this. I think it gives the piece more passion.
솔직히 진짜 이거 잘쳤다...
Talanted pianist! But I love his old face more!
Terrific both technically and expressively. This sounds a lot like Lang Lang's concert performance.

super interpretation
just a lit more slowly....
Ditto.
