This is a vegan-friendly seitan kebab or vegan meat recipe which is made using vital wheat gluten.
A recipe for plant-based kebab that is an absolute must! We have been working on this recipe for months and have finally perfected it to the point where it may very well be better than any kebab you have ever had. This is a great source of protein with an impressive 35g of protein per 100g.

We have just developed a new and improved recipe. No Marmite - soy sauce instead of liquid aminos and our own spice mix. ruclips.net/video/lPCGSbg487k/видео.html
Your teaspoon is big ,looked like tablespoon. Thanks for sharing👍
I hate marmite, and I won't use it to make my vegan kebab.
At last! A seitan recipe that uses adult measurements from the current century. No daft cups! Thank you!
Ikr finally
I bought myself a set of measuring cups last time I was in America, keeps massively with recipes, but I agree I'd rather everyone just use grammes and ounces 😂
@Jack Ross it's not. It's just that scales are more accurate. I've never heard of anyone getting stressed out by scales til now.
Oh my goodness, I can't get over the texture of the seitan meat and how easy it was to make, holy moly! New subscriber here :)
Okay this stuff is absolutely legit! Two things I'd say to intrepid folks trying this recipe. Might be best to steam for a touch longer just to be sure it's cooked through, it won't burn or go dry or anything so it's worth being sure.
Eating it plain it does still have a bit of a yeasty flavour but don't be disheartened. Once you've dressed it up with seasoning and got all the extra stuff that comes with a doner (sauce, salad, onions and the naan) it all comes together in one glorious package! Great stuff 👌
Loving the optimism of thinking that it won’t be eaten in one sitting. That looks utterly delicious!!!
Thank you! This was great. Been vegan fora raw years and seen many videos ... yours was very straight forward and easier to grasp. Thank you!
This is so cool. This is very similar to the way Gyro meat is cut and used in greek dishes. I loved this.
Just watched few of your videos and became your fan. You earned another new subscriber.
I am already a vegetarian person and like soya chaap recipes which is just a form of seitan with soy flour added to it. Since i have stomach issues with soyabeans, i prefer to add soy nuggets powder which i prepare at home from nutrela or saffola or any other good brand available in nearby stores. Gluten powder is out of scope due to being non popular and expensive at online stores. But still i make seitan using washed dough method and add spices later on.
This time i found all purpose flour at 70% discount on MRP and stocked 13Kg of it for this purpose. Seitan is just my favourite thing and i dont see it as meat replacement. Even staunch nonveg people at our place have seitan on their list of food since they have chicken or mutton only on sundays mostly.
Have done it today...it looks great, but the big test will be tomorrow afternoon. Thank you.
One of the very few vegan substitutes I've seen where at first glance you'd mistake it for the real thing. Definitely giving this a try
That looks amazing
Thanks a lot for your recepice 💜💕💜🌷💕💜💕
honestly this is remarkable wow
Wow this is amazing! Thought it would be way more difficult to make my own Sriram. Thanks for sharing. 💖
Looks amazing.
Can't wait to try this.
Thanks for sharing
New subscriber here! This is so interested- never saw seitan being made. It's cool to see the process!
This looks really good! I hope to try this one day. Great job and thank you for sharing!
I’ve been making seitan for sometime now and I don’t think I’ve used the same flavoring combination twice. They’ve all worked, but some were better than others. I’ll try yours. But I question the short steaming time you recommend- most recipes call for considerably longer times. I have settled on 60 minutes in a pressure cooker on high pressure. That works for me and ensures it’s cooked all the way through.
I just can't thank you enough for this video ❤️ new subscriber
Can you do more seitan recipes like this? Love how simple it is. New subscriber
Can you use something other than clingfilm? I thought when heated the plastic can go into the food
Hello. Yes we are in the process of developing a few more recipes. Hopefully a pepperoni recipe a veggie fridge raiders :-) As for the cling film, you can use cheese cloth instead.
I have never tried kebab but i would definitely try this it looks amazing
Great video. You make it seem so easy. Planning to make it soon. Marmite is a tough find. Do you think miso would be a good substitute?
Will defo give this a try thanks for sharing 👍🏻🌱
OMG that looks friggin' amazing!! I am going to try this for sure.
Thank you, great video! Don' love the piece of hair at 5:12 though.. :D
Apart from the hair in the seitan at 5:10 this was amazing
Yup , well spotted! We have fur babies and they love to add a bit of seasoning to everything! It’s a good job we are not a restaurant! Glad you think it is amazing 😻
Looks great. Going to give this a try!
Your seitan looks really good I've never steamed mine before, I usually boil mine in broth.
I grew up in Ottawa, and we ate donairs all the time (not vegan), but I used to love the shaved, spicy meat. This reminds me so much of donair meat...looks so amazing, and crazy you can make it yourself plus it's vegan!!! Love it! Just subscribed.
I've never had Donner Kebab in my life, but I would definitely try this vegan version :)
Old Man's favorite.
wow insane!
this looks exactly like meat
Amazing, looks exactly like Doner Kebab meat!
Tastes pretty damn fine as well 😋
This is nice!!! I must try this!! Thanks :D!!
I've just made it and it tastes amazing! Thanks for sharing this. The outer layer was a bit tough, but inside the structure was just like kebab. Only problem is: when it comes out of the fridge it's cold, and I'd like to eat it warm. Do you have any suggestions for this maybe? I tried it in the oven, both with and without oil but it looses it's tenderness that way.
That’s awesome, glad you like it. We treat it like shop bought kebab alternatives. Just add a little oil to a frying pan, some sliced red onion and sizzle for around 5 minutes 🤤
The spoons used look more like tablespoons than teaspoons, can you confirm which are used please?
Just a quick question, do I need the marmite as I don't ever buy it? This looks absolutely amazing! 💚 Subscribed
Hi. No, you can easily switch it up. The marmite is for colour, a bit of flavour and cut B12. If we don’t have any we use a bit extra liquid aminos 😃
I attempted this yesterday and it went amazingly until the cutting into it part. I couldn't use a peeler as it was too soft and smooth I guess. And the inside was super soft. It was very very chewy when eating too. Is there something I might have done wrong?
Awww, we have had this happen too ( a few times actually. Imagine following your own recipe and totally screwing it up :-0) . It is down to the temperature of the water when it is added and also using the exact measurements. If it is too soft in the middle, it could be that you might need to knead a bit longer and steam a bit longer too.
I had the same issue. Although my peeler doesn't have those sharp parts like in the video though :(. It did taste good in a wrap though!!!
really good!!
What can we use to replace Marmite? It is really hard to get in most parts if the world...
Hello, We have just updated our recipe ruclips.net/video/lPCGSbg487k/видео.html it uses soy sauce and no marmite :-) plus we have developed our own spice mix too :-)
Try miso. Or gochujang.
That’s a big ol’ teaspoon 🤔
nice video,
If you have a vacuum Maschine than use it and put it into the water 😃 otherwise it will not be that good as you want 😅 and for sure check first ur Plastik bottles are BPA free or not 👏
Americans know, it's party time.
can i put anything else instead of gluten?
Just made this, and couldn't believe how much it looked and tasted like doner meat!! I'll definitely make it again, but is there any way of making it a little less chewy does anyone know?
Hello. It would be trial and error. You could try using cooler water and kneading for a little longer. The hot water shocks the vital wheat gluten, which gives it that sort of consistency. We are working on a few different recipes which use tofu and others that use chickpeas :-)
Mdtaldaduk: there's tons of ways, don't knead it so much or use 5 parts Vital Wheat Glutton to 1 part All Purpose flour/or flour of your choice, or incorporate some mashed beans.
@@carlcat Thanks I'll try those. I get confused as some people say to knead more, some to knead less for a less tough product!
@@metalbearuk Make sure you don't use hot water(cool or room temp)when mixing the liquid part and steam 50 minutes under low temp.
@@carlcat Just wanted to say thank you for the tip about cooler water and less kneading. Worked a treat, not as tough, now I have to get it between the two I've made, and it'll be perfect.
For how long can it be stored and if I remove marmite from the recipe will it make any difference? I just dislike marmite 🤭
The Spicy Vegan lol the marmite is for flavour, colour and vitamin B12 but you could use miso paste instead if you like. It will keep for the same amount of time without the marmite. It should keep for 10 days, refrigerated 😊 just warm it through before eating
Get Plant Based brilliant 🤗
Holy grail ☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️
the turkey mans:💀
Could you use aluminium foil instead of cling film??
Absolutely!
IS there anything I can use to replace marmite since it is not available in my area?
Hi. We use marmite for vitamin B12 and flavour. You could use miso if you have it or add a bit more soy sauce, say 1 tsp more and a bit of coriander powder.
@@GetPlantBased thanks!
Janne Salo: You can use Molasses instead. Also, if your end product feels too rubbery try using 5 parts Vital wheat Glutton to one part All Purpose flour. You can also saute the "meat" with some oil to give it some crust just like the real thing.
Can this be done in the oven instead?
Hello. We are not sure as we have not tired the oven yet. Perhaps you could give it a go. Place it in a casserole dish with a bit of water to imitate the steaming process. 🙂
Using plastic wrap leeches plastic into your food........then into you..... recipe looks good though!!
If there is no meat then you can't call it meat you mo / Ron wtf marmite and soy sauce that does bnot go in a kebab
Plastic film is toxic.
Sure you have a valid point. You could used baking paper or cheese cloth instead. 🙂
RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH AXUNT. CAN'T SAY 'A' CORRECTLY. IE AS IN AGO ALIVE ANEW.
IT'S AY AY AY *BOLLUX* CRAP.
