This is because the app is optimized for the apple m chip for the ipad version which will eventually run on other M chip. Not only gta but you may notice some ipad app appearing on the mac app store also have a small label "Designed for iPad - Not verified for macOS"
@@ramp6727 I'm quite sad when I can't find an iPad app in my Mac's Appstore. I get it when there are two different versions (like Affinity Photo) but when there is no desktop version I don't see the point.
Apple is gearing toward a singular native OS, I can see most apps being cross compatible without the use of Helpers, sooner than later
They should just release the whole trilogy for the M Macs. These games would run great even on the base M1 Air.
It's locked at 30 FPS because the game itself is unstable if it goes over. Remove the FPS cap on PC and you'll get a bunch of problems that will break stuff or make certain missions impossible to complete on all 3 classic GTA games
Bruh it's not renderware anymore it's unreal engine, so fps should not matter
This is completely false. I've played through all three games on PC with unlocked frame rates at 200+ fps and it's not a problem. I don't know where you got this information from.
@k17714n Search up the web to see those problems yourself. You can play the game but stuff will break. In SA you swim slow as a snail and you can die if you try to climb objects with unlocked framerate,and in VC you can't reverse cars. You probably patched your game with a 3rd party mod
@@laur6405Can't reverse cars? 🤣 I have played through all three remastered games on PC and I haven't had any of these issues. In fact, I've completed Vice City three times and I'm on my fourth play-through of GTA III. I haven't had to cap my frame rate to 30fps once.
@@k17714n i'm talking about the og games. In the remastered they fixed some of them but things like driving school in SA are still harder to do with unlocked fps
this is definitely easier than the approach I took before installing the binaries with Parallels and then running the games with Whisky but I'm not FPS locked that way
The framerate cap seems to have nothing to do with performance, but the game's engine. GTA 3D universe series, like many early games, has a lot of game mechanism based on framerate rather than system time. While they do support 30+ fps, there can be bugs when framerate goes beyond that, including game breaking bugs like faster clock, accidental death, broken mission etc. When I was playing the PC version, I had to cap framerate to 30 to pass certain missions. The definitive edition is an improvement to light rendering and modeling, it doesn't change the mechanism, so the framerate bug should still be there.
The “definitive” edition on PC does change this a bit. In the stupidest way possible. They locked the physics to 60 fps. So even if you lock to 30 you get the awfulness of 60 like horribly slow swimming.

i have had sanadreeas runing om my mac M1 mini for long time now even got vice city as well both work perfect maxed out and 4k keyboard and mouse supported no problem

Thanks Andrew 🫡 This was surprisingly straightforward and simple. I had it up and running in less than 30 minutes. The classic lighting is important in recreating the atmosphere and aesthetic of the original PS2 games. Without it they feel cold and sterile like hospital lights. I’ve been playing the iOS 10th anniversary versions of VC & SA on my M1 Pro with a DualSense and enjoying them. No idea why those mobile ports got so much hate. The classic lighting was standard and I haven’t seen major bugs.
I don’t have a Mac with apple silicone but for some reason I thought any modern iOS app could download from the App Store and run on them. I didn’t know some were locked out like this.
im wondering why you didnt put the resolution to 100% on vice city or san andreas, i really wanted to see how good they would look on mac at max resolution

Why do devs make things so difficult? The mac is plainly a very capable gaming platform, with not much effort needed to port intel or make ios arm apps playable. I blame lazy devs.

Has nothing to do with the Devs, to work in an Apple silicon Mac it’s pretty easy. It has to do with money: the can charge now for a iOS and iPadOS version + desktop version
idk if it's developer's fault. It's probably Apple not wanting you to i mean the regular GTA SA and VC mobile versions are available on Mac and so is Max Payne but GTA LCS and the Definitive Editions can't be installed on Mac

I'm lucky, because I still have the original GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas downloadable through my purchases on Mac. They work with controllers (though GTA 3 controller layout is atrocious).
Definitive Edition just isn't the same.

@@sao5060 I bought them a long time ago on my iphone. They're still in my account purchases list, which I can download them from on both ios and macos.
There were gta 3, vice city, san andreas and liberty city stories. And also chinatown wars before them, but it's 32 bit (at least the demo was) and incompatible with ios 10 and up (and by extension with macos too). Vice city stories never came out on mobile I think.

Hi, is there a way to launch without a netflix account and buy games?
It runs really choppy for me on a MacBook Air M2 with 16/512 and 8c GPU. I’m using 1080p and 1.0 resolution scaler. I’m running Ventura tho not sure if it makes a huge difference

it won't let me use the keyboard or mouse at all! I can't even start the game or go the options when im in the main menu. How to fix this? already tried keybindings, but doesn't work either.. MacBook Pro M1 Sonoma

@@CryptoBonanza.swoosh Tbh the only apple product that i see worth buying is the macbook and everything else is kinda mid, if you have the budget for a mac you should probably build a custom pc instead, it will handle both productivity and you can game easily.

There are 2 versions a paid and a Netflix version.

A mistake? So to be clear, you believe someone at rockstar set up their devops pipeline to compile, test, and upload to the App Store…by accident?
He’s more likely referring to the mistake of allowing the game to run on Apple Silicon Mac’s. It’s just a checkbox in App Store Connect that they didn’t uncheck for that single Vice City release, for some reason.

The original versions can be easily emulated through PCSX2 and upscaled.
They’re probably a better option than these remasters.
Agreed best played using AetherSX2, plus you can get savestates.
@@Andytizer the latest builds of PCSX2 are actually excellent. It supports Metal now, and can run texture packs. It might be a good topic for a video, because it breathes new life into some bonafide classics.
